Well I got the I/O mounted inside. The wiring aint puurrrtie but its functioning so far. I dont have those fancy connectors that MLK has plus I hard wired some ghetto molex for power. Only thing left is to mount the controll ports and wire them in. This is the only thing Im scared off. Im fearing Ima damage the plastic and make it look ugly. Any suggestions.

You wired controls through a standard disconnectable jamma connector or are they hardwired to the PCB? If it's the former what happens when you disconnect the controls? Normally whether the controls are wired or not it doesn't make any difference: once the I/O is getting power and is connected to the motherboard via the USB cable you shouldn't get that error message.

I thought that the usb cable does not give power and thats why there was additional power hooked up. I forget where I had read that and assumed thats why you hooked up this jumper wire on the I/O usb area http://img67.imageshack.us/img67/7353/e6ey6.jpg. First I had made a cable to replace the usb cable since Im mounting my I/O on the inside in your fashion. Then I hooked up the 5v power and ground like so in this pic http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/6944/h3qu8.jpg with one difference. From the looks of the pic the 5v is hooked up to pins 2/3 and ground is hooked up to 12/13 on CN3. Shouldnt the 5v be on pins 1/2 and ground be on pins 13/14 like the I/O board on this page http://solvalou.mine.nu/beginner/naomi.html#sega_io I used pins 1/2 and 13/14. For my intitial test I mounted on the inside of the case I power up and everything was fine. I let it run for about an hour before turned it off.

My next step I am hard wiring the controls directly to the I/O pcb. I wired in player one just to test. I wired the directions, six inputs, start, coin, ground, and 5v to a modded pad. Im testing the street fighter anny pad as my controller. I have everything wired properly (I think and I hope I do ) so I power up with out the pad plugged in and I get the I/O board not found

If the USB needs power how much does it need.

The I/O is in fact not powered through the USB cable. In any case the wire in that pic has nothing to do with that (it's for using the other USB port), better leave it alone.

Pins 1, 2, 3 are all +5v and pins 12, 13, 14 are all grounds so using 1/2 or 2/3 etc. is the same thing.

I know this is an old thread but I am interested in this mod. All the links to the images are now dead, would anyone be able to re-upload them?

Hey guys, sorry to reply to such an old thread. I am trying to consolize a sega naomi but I am having difficulties finding any worthwhile documentation on it. The links on this post are dead and I am not sure how to get in touch with MKL. Is there some one who could assist me in this? I have a couple naomi boards and a capcom I/O. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Again, sorry for posting in such an old thread.
