For those who missed PSX/SS port in the old days and don't want to pay $50+ for it, wait until October and Capcom JPN will release both Strider & Tenchi Wo Kurau II at budget prices..........

I paid $95 + shipping for my original PSX copy of Tenchi Wo Kurau when it first released.......:spock:

I'll pick up Tenchi wo Kurau II...since the game is fucking awesome.
Strider will be on the PS Capcom Classics Collection Volume 2 though.

I have the Saturn version. Which I LOVE. That and D&D Collection are some of my favorite games.

I wish they still made 2d games like these.

What is Tenchi Wo Kurau II?

It's called Warriors Of Fate in the US, and it was an awesome Final Fight clone set in medieval Asia (I always got the feeling it was more Chinese in influence than Japanese...but don't quote me). Three-player simultaneous, horses to ride, awesome game.

I think the Japanese title translates literally as 'To Eat Angels II'.

It's loosely based on the Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel and an anime/manga of the same name.

I've never seen a PS1 case like that, and why the hell is Capcom still bothering with the PS1?

That sounds quite interesting. Was it ever released on a home console in the U.S.?

cause it's probably even cheaper to make, and it's not like it won't work on ps2's.

The NES RPG "Destiny of an Emperor" is also part of this series.

There's also the first Tenchi wo Kurau (aka Dynasty Wars) that also has a PC Engine/Turbo Duo port.

It almost did but got canceled due to Western Anti-2-D propaganda.

always thought it meant "heavens food"

anyway, still have it for the psx 1

i remember you could unlock the extra special moves ( double flash kicks etc )

and there was an extra omake ending scene if you beat 1 with 1 credit

it's a good game,but isn't capcom's finest for sure

Feel the same way
First I thought Capcom will release "PS2" version but later found out it's just PSX re-release.

Acording to my January 1993 issue of EGM, the name translated as "The Destruction of Heaven and Earth".

Time to reflect on some games in this series.

The marquee of the arcade game. I got this thing in my drawer.

Famicom Japan-only sequel to "Destiny of an Emperor"

Couldn't find any screenshots, but Capcom also made a Tenchi game for the Super Famicom in 1995. It plays like Koei's Three Kingdoms series.

I have both Saturn & PSX ports, no difference as I can tell (anyone who plays this game regularly please let us know if you have noticed any difference).

One of them has slightly more accurate colors and I think less slow down. Again slightly.

Make sure to set the extend rate at 300,000 only on the Saturn port.

I've tried to research whether the Saturn port is arcade perfect as far a difficulty is concerned. It sure feels it but I couldn't find any concrete answers. I ended up 1'ccing the Saturn port last summer, but I should really do it again via MAME just incase. I've only played the psx port once.

Here's a great resource on the game. Things appear to be broken down quite thoroughly (in Japanese). I was at least able to find a comprehensive move list through this.

Thanks for the feedback.
So, no major or noticeable issues in the PSX port? I can stand gameplay differences, but I'd like to know if technically it is almost arcade perfect.
Thank you
