Who says you have to buy both games at the same time? You could just buy one and then get the next one later down the road. Each new style lasts qutie a while until you get completely bored and need another new one.
I'm not even bored with the USA version, to tell ya the truth :).

I'll think about it. I'll figure out my budget, and make sure I have some money left over for some other things (like an iPod nano with a very generous student discount), and if I have about $80 to spare, I'll buy both. At the worst, I could sell them for about the same if I need the cash.

My 8th Style LE should be coming in soon. so if you're interested in 8th and the Visual Emotions DVD (Both still factory shrinkwrapped and brand new, of course), then I could help you out there (I got it only for the V-Rare) ;)

I crunched some numbers, and it looks like after I build my PC I'd have roughly $815-$920 left over (depending on the prices of some parts and how much I end up selling some stuff for on eBay).

I'll think about buying those two IIDX games. And Gotenks, if your 8th mix is cheap, maybe that too.

I'll post some accomplishments later today. You can see them all on VJA though (I put them on VJA as soon as I get them).

Considering it comes with a brand new Visual Emotions, it won't be cheap :( (Probably something like $70 shipped since both would be brand new and Visual Emotions used to be sold on KonamiStyle for like $30, and new 8th Style would be $64.90 at Play-Asia).

And I can do better, I was sort of off when I did that one.

L7 is fun since it's so easy :)

Cheezy but awesome song.

Failed, but with a higher grade than when I passed.

I barely failed due to the jackhammers (I hoped Hard would save me, but it didn't)

Ouch. I like this song but I just did terrible that time I played.

Bah, it's going to impossible to convince him to pay for the game when he already has a torrent and is already downloading it.

I guess if you don't care at all about having the legit, actual product, then it won't make any difference. I downloaded 10th and RED and I was still able to enjoy them, but the song freezing got really annoying. But I only downloaded them because I wasn't too crazy about IIDX and just needed something to pass the time; I bought every other style that I had.

LOL at the 130k A's. BM US's scoring is so messed up :lolz:

Here's that 8th Style + Visual Emotions, in case you're interested:

http://vjarmy.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=2923&pid=75351&st=0&#entry75351

I could sell 8th separetly. It'd cost something like how much RED currently costs at PA, but the bonus would be that all proceeds would be going towards my first Neo :D
I think I'll just get 9th, or maybe Red too. I did the math wrong though, since I didn't factor in a few other expenses (d'oh!). I'll have to check it later.

Are Swap Magic discs like Utopia discs for the DC in that you can download them and burn them for free, or do you have to purchase one?

My canadian buddy Igniz tells me that you have to purchase a swap disc.

If only all piracy was as easy as it was on Dreamcast.

Yes, you will have to purchase them. If you just download them and burn them to a disc, the PS2 won't be able to read the Swap Magic as an authentic PS2 compatible disc. However, it isn't uncommon for people to download the latest Swap Magic and use through their older, original Swap Magic (Put in your old version of Swap Magic, swap out for the newer Swap Magic, then swap out again for the game that only works for the newer Swap Magic).

Grr I think I'm in a slump today. I know I can do better in 20, November but I can't pull it off. There's that one part that's something like 1, 4, 1, 1+3 repeated about 5 times that just kills me for some reason. I should be able to do it but my brain and fingers just seem to die at that part. I'm gonna try again later today if I can.

BTW I've come close to FCing Virtual Insanity [7], but surprisingly I mess up in stupid little parts instead of the scales (though the scales are usually almost all goods). Is it me or is the timing in Virtual Insanity off by a tiny bit? Not as bad as e-motion or Love So Groovy but still a little off.

Now for the screencaps.

TV2006071110273800.jpg
As crappy as this song is I keep playing it, since I know I can put in a little more effort and do a lot better.

TV2006071110595400.jpg
Tried it on HS3 and did a little better than normal, but I think HS3 is a little too fast for me for Toxic. Wish I could do HS 2.5 for it.

TV2006071111021400.jpg
I kept on doing stupid little things like hitting the wrong key entirely when there's only one to press. I chalk it up to the slump I think I'm in; that shoulda been a FC.

TV2006071111052100.jpg
Real proud of this one. I did that on HS4 and it seems perfect. Yet again I had stupid little mistakes that killed my FC.

TV2006071111153700.jpg
Didn't FC it like before (AAAAAAUGH) but I did well on it.

EDIT: L7 is fun!
TV2006071111505600.jpg
Wow I can keep up with this. So many greats though. I don't think it's the timing (i.e. it's me).

TV2006071111434500.jpg
This is weird for me to time.

You should really get a IIDX style so that you don't have to play boring 5key songs anymore (Since you're still starting out and improving and working on your technique, I don't see why you're still playing 5key. That could possibly be stunting your improvement. I'd just stick with 7keys if I were you).

I will, trust me. IIDX is really fun, and I would love to be able to play more songs. Once I sell some stuff on eBay, I'll probably buy 9th and RED, and a swapmagic disc. Then all I'll have left to buy is a PStwo.

And 5Key is just plain fun, what can I say.

OK, I see where I'm being thrown off. Shortly after that first part with the scales, there's some notes like 1, 3, 2 (not exactly like that) and I end up mistiming one of those. I can almost taste that FC. And I've gotten a lot better at timing the scales.

EDIT:
TV2006071112225400.jpg
OH SNAP WHO JUST GOT A FC?! Worse EX score though.

EDIT ANOTHER:

EDIT AGAIN:

Hellz yeah!

I registered for the VJArmy wiki, and I updated the CS General Info page. If y'all could proofread what I added for CS USA and the controller, that'd be cool. Y'all should add a section about RED to that page too.

I've already asked BBH this, but what does each specific filter (like Surround or Echo 2) do exactly?

The effectors simply add reverberation to create an echo-y/surround-type sound depending on which effector is being used (The higher the number the greater the reverberation). Obviously it's not really surround sound.

BM US:
Pros:
Replay videos
Traditional records screen for individual songs

Cons:
No dan courses
New difficulty scale (Incredibly retarded since it isn't on a scale of 1 to 7/8 of 3rd-11th, or a scale of 1 to 12 of 12th+; something new you'll have to get used to)

All I can think of at the moment.

Just finished playing 15 minutes ago. I have a feeling that I wasn't playing at my peak by playing this late. Oh well.
TV2006071223513100.jpg
Meh.

TV2006071223584300.jpg
That ending gives me a little bit of trouble. That part at the end that's all white keys, and sometimes you do something like hitting two keys that are one key apart, the key in the middle, then another two keys, that gives me trouble. I usually just hit all three of the keys involved regardless ("poor mash", right?) and get a FC with a few poors, but I tried it the real way this time and didn't FC it.

TV2006071300003400.jpg
I can do better, I just wanted to try it.

TV2006071300041500.jpg
HELL YES! HS3 helped me a lot. I still feel like I can do better, and I know I'm gonna play this one a lot more.

TV2006071300070500.jpg
First try.

Woah, it looks so weird to see that Beginner column there. I hadn't realized that BM US actually records and stores Beginner scores (While the JP IIDX releases only keep track of whether you cleared the song or not and don't even indicate if you beat your record or not since it's not stored).

OK guys, I'm not so sure I'll have enough right away to buy a PStwo, mod it for swap discs (I can't decide whether to buy a clear replacement case that works with swap discs, since I like the custom look it gives off, or buy the special made clips), buy the swap discs, and afford IIDX 9th and RED. Since it doesn't look like 9th and RED will be at those prices again, do y'all think I should buy them and then wait to afford a PStwo?

The waiting will just kill me; I'll be at college and have 3 IIDX games and no way to play two of them (assuming I'll meet someone with a PS2 up there so I can play BMUS).
