Metal Slug Collection Announced for PSP!!!

March 23, 2006 - At GDC 2006, SNK Playmore confirmed today that the PlayStation Portable will be receiving a new compilation pack in the wildly wild shooter series, Metal Slug.

Metal Slug Collection features six games from the series, including Metal Slug, Metal Slug 2, Metal Slug X, Metal Slug 3, Metal Slug 4 and Metal Slug 5. The PSP version will also feature 2-player wireless co-op play. The collection is planned for release this November.

At last, you may never have to drop a pocket full of laundry money into an old NeoGeo MVS at the Pizzaporium again, so long as you have your PSP with you. We'll have hands-on impressions of the early build of Metal Slug Collection later tonight.

Pretty cool, but I don't have a PSP anymore. Still prefer playing on MVS, but you can't go wrong with portable slugs.

If this were announced a couple months ago, I might've kept my PSP.

Quoted for TRUTH. I'm sick of Lumines being the only good game I own for the PSP, it just sits there gathering dust most of the time. Debated selling it, not sure with this news!

I hate to be the voice of reality, but what probably will happen is the release date will be in 2007. Then it will be delayed 2 to 3 times before it finally gets cancelled. We are talking about Playmore, does anyone really put creedance into what they say? If it actually gets released, then I'll believe it.

Bump for truth. Anyone remember how friggin long it took Playmore to release SSV? It went from the PS2 to X-Box and even after that it was over a year from the original release date on X-Box before it was released.

While there at it could they fix re-edit 5 to include the neccessary material that was left on the cuttingroom floor as well as fix the slowdown in 2. Shit, speaking of 2, X should just be left out so 2 can be perfected.

Regardless, This is the best news for me in a long time. I REALLY miss my PSP & between this, RR, SFA3, Lumines & G&G I needs to get me another. Plus that neo geo emulator is the shiz.

While that is true, it doesn't really matter because the PSP is region free.

As soon as it's out in Japan, you can import it for an extra $10 bucks or so and be done with it.

No need to wait for the US release.

Just a few things:

#1: I am sick of all the psp hate. "oh all I have to play is lumines whine whine whine" quit your bitchin and go play exit, me and my katamari, ridge racer, infected, both megaman games, sfa3 or anything else you might like if you gave it a shot. I was pissed off at the lack of games for a while too, but they're finally coming through and I'll be happy to support a system that gives me games I enjoy playing.

#2: They'd better leave 2 in there intact, and that includes the slowdown. I consider the slowdown to be part of the game when I think of 2. 2 and X should be billed as separate games, they are similar but not the same.

#3: I hope they have some kind of online component to this, like an online scoreboard or downloadable training missions if SNKP feels up to developing a bit. Hell maybe they could throw in those training missions from the MS1 & 2 NGCDs.

#4: Having the NGPC games as unlockables would be a nice touch too if you ask me.

#5: Here's to hoping they do it AND do it right
