I love how the first 3 words Dio greets the player with, after a ten year absence, is 'Pathetic, pathetic, pathetic.'

You gotta be pretty bad-ass to be able to do that. I hear Hanzo and Fuuma are fuckin' great in NGBC. Any requests for next fighter anyone? Unless there's someone you must urgently have... I'll pick one at random. (one video per week possibly -- I will be very busy in January)

MUSCLE MANIA!

Rasputin will be next, but I just had to show this guy next.

he was never one of my faves until WHP, where he is very fun to use and in the right hands -- quite deadly. In fact I beat WHP last night with Muscle Power.... good times... :mr_t:

check out some of his crazy combos!

MY EYES! AII!!!!!! MY EYES!!!

Yes, everyone's favorite homosexual freak fighter, ole RASPUTIN!

I still recall the fond memories of borrowing my best friend's WH SNES copy, taking it to Sacramento, and having a tournament of sorts against my older bro and his friends -- and these guys were SF 2 experts, mind you. Yet here was this little kid, kicking ass with Rasputin -- they had no answer for me, and I was the toast of the town for one night.

And who could forget Raspy's GIANT yellow hand crush throw move? For '92 those sprites were HUUUUGE!!!!

Sadly, the world has been deprived of the man since 1995.... but he left us with one last final remembrance -- THE SECRET GARDEN! If you never seen this sick-ass (and I DO MEAN SICK!) DM before, now for the FIRST TIME EVER ON THE INTERNET -- YOU CAN! (I just love to finish off opponents with it... watching Raspy pull the sucker back for seconds -- hearing the victim moaning slowly and loudly like a porno .... uuuugh!)

Rasputin... we had some good times you silly gay bastard.

CAPTAIN KIDD!

Well well, what can be said of this kick-ass pirate but... he was way freaking cool back in the day, and he still is. I always loved how he had two projectiles, and they served DIFFERENT functions -- switching between them is part of the fun of using him. The ghost ship negates ground projectiles, sliding attacks, etc.

The ghost shark negates mid-level projectiles, mid-level attacks, etc.

One is done w/o charging (ghost ship) the other charging (ghost shark) ingenius!

The only thing I dislike about him in his transition to WHP was his Shark Upper... I really feel they downgraded the priority and usefulness of the move... in 2 and 2 Jet it came out quickly, and with great range. In Perfect it's been far toned down. Anyone else feel this way?

Check out his INCREDIBLY damaging HERO DM -- takes off about 70 freaking percent. And his 13-hit combo is a personal favorite of mine.... fuckin' sweet :buttrock:

Alright, without further ado check out the video. He's got some sweet cancels and counters and what have you. He's always been a very resourceful fighter, which has made him a popular character in the franchise.

"TOUCHDOWN!"

wh3q.gif

JOHNNY MAXIMUM!

Gotta give it up to anyone whose death cry is "SHIIIIIIT!"

It's pigskin mania... who more appropriate to showcase than J. MAX! Carson Palmer went down earlier today for the Bengals... I bet they could use Johnny Maximum (although Jon Kitna was doing a commendable job he's obviously no J.Max...)

Maximum was one of my favorites in WH2... I loved his high and low football projectiles, but in Jet they got rid of it. I can see why, they didn't want him to be another "Shoto" fighter. They still kept his flying football tackle dragon punch, which to this day is still one my favorite variants of the trade.

In Perfect, his football fireballs made a very special return.... ;) I thought it was a nice nod to WH2 fans.

Enjoy the vid... his 20+ hit HERO DM is extremely damaging, for gawd's sake he can even catch projectiles and return them (at your own time discretion, just release the button)... and any fighter who slams his opponent down and yells "TOUCHDOWN!" is boss.

Check out his 35-hit combo!

EDIT: What a pass by Big Ben to C. Wilson! J.Max approves :buttrock:

I remember playing World Heroes when it came out and it was instantly one of my fave fighters, then when i played 2 it was just pure gravy! I never played Jet or Perfect on release, so when i got my 4 slot back in 99 WHP was one of the first games i picked up....

oh how i was dissapointed it just did'nt play right at all, i thought maybe it was just perfect but no going back to WH and WH2 i found these had lost there magic too....i was gutted, 1 of the times child hood memories had been smashed.

BUT NOW! Whenever i fire the AW up with NGBC i often find myself playing as Hanzo & Fuuma! They just rock so much, not only do they both look great but they play better than they ever did, and fuck the people who say there just the same, its like comparing Ryu & Ken if you know your fighters you know theres a world of differnce between them.

Neo Dio on NGBC looks amazing ( can you say fluuuuuuid animation ) can't say i ever got to him on WHP but hes a really good boss and fits right in, of course hes as cheap as hell but i love fighting him instead of Mizuchi because he offers a challenge that dose'nt feel impossible :D

EDIT : Captain Kidd needs to be bought back sooooooooooooooooo badly!!!

J. CARN!

Over the years Julius Carn became one of my favorites... it's fun to spike opponents with this short, stocky son of a bitch. I don't like how they toned down his Mongolian Dynamite in WHP, but I liked the improvements they made on his Mongolian Tackle from Jet (where the move debut)

JANNE!

Not one of my faves, per se, but she's a hoot of a character. I remember laughing the first time I saw her throw move in 1992. She grabbed Hanzo and proceeded to slap him silly. "yah yah yah!"

A quick little story. Back in the day I played WH at this mom n pop-ish video rental store called US Video. They had the Neo Geo getup, Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, King of the Monsters and World Heroes. One night it was pretty late I saw this 20-year-old-something guy playing, and he was playing one mean Janne. He challenged me, and I was only 9 at the time.

So I picked Hanzo... and we had a dogfight, it went to the 3rd round, and came down to the wire. I got the last blow in, and he fumed and walked away. I looked over at the counter and remember seeing a young female worker smiling at me, coz here you had this little kid who beat this young adult who thought he owned the machine. Heh the good old days...

You have to use Erick the Viking next.
When I played WHP religiously, there was a combo I did that got me about 90% life but I could never make it a complete 100%. The character has enough strength to do it, but I want to see it done by someone. Also, a nice Mudman video would be welcome. ;)

More feedback... the Rasputin combos were pretty nice. The first one was probably the best one out of them all. I was doing about 7-8 hit combos with him, and it's mainly due to his multiple kick. That does 3-4 easily.

Still more feedback... LOVED the J. Max stuff. That Hero DM in slow motion brought back crazy memories. Definitely one of the more painful things I ever saw in a figher. But, 10 years later I'm still learning new tricks. I had no idea that he could actually catch the projectiles! Maybe that's the reason why he lost his from older WH games... :smirk:

My friend, it's sooo funny you brought that up. He was my next choice, and... wait til you see his 90% combo... it's freaking insane... is it the exact same combo you did? 90%.... thats demoralizing.

wh3p.gif

ERIK!

He was one of my faves, I still recall his peaceful WH2 stage, with them fighting on his ship. He was so cool, I thought. Had that wooden shield (check out what it does in WHP!) that AXE. His breath stank so bad he could freeze you with it. He had a huge hammer in his back pocket that would shock you. And c'mon now, for gawd's sake he could send forth a strong ocean wave to attack you. (still to this day the funniest projectile ever.... who knew water could hurt you?) My best friend always said it was "magic water"... ahhh, to be young again. (BTW, I always found it extremely odd the motion to do his projectile was a hurricane kick!)

And oh yeah, he could fly across the screen and stab you with his horns. That's ownage.

My most vivid memory of big Erik came when WH2 came out. Me and my best friend we discovered this arcade hall outta town. It was raining cats and dogs, I remember rushing into the store as my dad dropped us off. Coming in slightly drenched from the heavy rain, I was immediately greeted with the classic music from Erik's awesome stage. The machine was crowded, and next to it was an equally crowded Street Fighter II Championship Edition.

Me and Nelson, we just stood there watching the older kids go at it... in wide-eyed awe.

wh2d.gif

And, for the Super Nintendo one night Nelson's little bro Johnny owned us in SNES WH. I remember me and Nelly in his livingroom talking about when WH2 was going to come out, and I still remember saying "Johnny won't beat MY Erik!" I thought I played a mean Erik back in the day. I remember talking about the new moves available in WH2 that would put us over the top and ensure Johnny would never beat us again, like Muscle Power's giant swing.

Anyway, enjoy the vid. Erik's 90% combo is worth watching 10 times over!!!

Heh, well, I decided to make some videos of my own, highlighting this most delightful feature. Nothing is better than owning a human player with a long, slow HERO DM.

For now here are two:

Poor Ryoko....

Poor Ryoko?!?! Poor Johnny Maximum! SHIT is right, J Max! I think I rather be Ryoko... given the two choices.... :loco:

MUDMAN!!

Ahh Mudman... the silly goofy bizarre bastard. I remember that night I first discovered World Heroes 2... it was at a Safeway grocery store, and the first fighter I ever used in WH2? Mudman. I always have had a soft spot in my heart for those wacky fighters. Hell, the first character I ever used in Street Fighter II was Dhalsim. ;)

Mudman has a lot of fans, like Captain Kidd Mudman is generally considered a "cool character" by fans and critics alike. We'll never forget his crazy "WA-HOO!" antics, his cool little blue spirit buddies and that crazy mask... who could forget that.

His stage in WH2 was one of the best ever, and the music matched it to a tee. I don't like the new look of his projectile in WHP... but that's just me nit-picking.

WA HOO!

http://www.youtube.com/?v=r1mN3PH2hd8

edit: In this video you'll see a nasty combo that's unavoidable... a throw into DM... Mudman's DM is unblockable much like Rasputin and Dio's

FUUMA! (or... Fuma @_@)

The man who dared to make a strong fashion statement back in ole '92!

wh3f.jpg

you talkin' to me??

fuuma.gif

It's funny, in the original his ending was he was some average joe paper pusher 9 to 5 guy who merely dreamt the whole thing up. But in WH2 we find out that thankfully, Fuuma is as real as pro wrestling, baby. ;)

enjoy the vid and oh... I also recorded two matches from WHP that I played. In one I'm Captain Kidd the other I'm Jack (the Ripper).

Fuuma: http://www.youtube.com/?v=Eo4RFC77wI8

Holy Shit, Neo Dio looks like what Blackheart should've been in Capcom's Vs. Series. I don't like his gay stance though... :shame:

JACK (THE RIPPER)!!

Jack Jack Jack... what can I say but the most user-friendly combo guy in WHP... in my book anyhow. Some of you might have viewed the match I had with Shura using Jack, and you saw a combo there, that you'll see in this video. I figured it out on my own though, before I ever saw the video. Really, I did.... I did....

Rasputin moaned away while J.Max kept yelling Shiiit shiiit shiiit.

I almost shat my pants :buttrock:
