I will be traveling there for work next month and "should" have a free day in each city. So if anyone has been or is in either city/town throw me some ideas on what I could do besides sit in the hotel and watch German TV.

I just want to chime in and say DjDelly is a good friend of mine and I can vouge that he is not crazy, not some irritating nerd, and, in fact, very fun to hang out with.

Well... I'm from Bavaria, all I know is that Carl Benz was born in Karlsruhe, and that Stuttgart sucks ;)

Stuttgart has a rich cultural life it seems, but if you're not into plays, classical concerts and post-modern art, nightlife ins't that great, at least I had troubles finding a cool place after midnight when I had to stay there for two weeks for an IT job.

Okay, let me see... here's an event/scene/nightlife for Stuttgart on snapcity.de: http://www.snapcity.de/nightlife/index.php?relCategoryID=2 (ask babelfish for an English translation).

Oh, and here's a tip, don't call their Mercedes cars Volkswagens.
