A buddy competed/competes in bodybuilding competitions and it kinda sucks to be around him leading up to it as we are drinking and hanging out he is eating white chicken squares outta a tupperware container and drinking water exclusively.

Yea, its rough. I have friends who competed and they say it sucks. Especially during the phase of their training when they are trying to cut water. You have BB's who faint on stage like Dallas McCarver which is pretty nuts. You have to be dedicated, Not fun.

Fishing with my son:
View attachment 45346

I know, it's just carp. There are large mouth and catfish too. No, we don't eat anything from the pond at the local state college, lol. It's 2 minutes from my house, safe because he's tall enough to stand up in the water if he falls in , and it's easy fishing. Parking is $5, but we could walk or bike ride in if i want so lazy, lol.

Awesome Pic.

LoL, thanks bro! Are you still training?

I'm 40. So I'm getting REAL tired of it. So, not nearly as much as I used to. I'm just SOOOO BOOOOORED with it. I've done it natty my whole life, and it's sorta like beating a game and getting to the end and just playing it more. I've done what I can and seen what I can do, and I'm just a little sick of it. Ya know?

Lach brother, how you like Japan

Was Mount Fuji shy that day

Exceeded my every expectation, planning on going back next year.

Fuji was unexpectedly clear all the way to the visitors center. We were prepared for nothing but cloud considering the time of the year.

Natty my whole life as well, I can relate 101%. To be honest I don't think I will compete ever again. Reasons why:

1) Too much time dedicated to training, too much money (food), not too much time to socialise when you can't do this, do that, etc
2) I felt like a trainwreck. The lower the bodyfat the more tired I felt.
3) Even though this was a drug tested competition (urine sample after the show) I don't think half of the guys that placed top 3 in each class were natty. Just a guess having been in and out of gyms for about 20 years now.

Like I said I can totally relate. In fact I was having this discussion with my gf last night. It's just not worth it.

Of course I'll do some form of training and keep fit but not take it to the extreme. That huuuuge effort required in order to get just a bit better if you are natty is hell on earth!

I did a physique comp, and when people ask if I'd do another one, I practically yell "HELL NO." lol. Getting sprayed with pam in a room with a bunch of dudes just didn't get me too excited to do it again. Not to mention all the preparation with watching your water levels and so on. It really is a farce. An illusions we temporarily create to make us look better than we are. I mean, cutting carbs and water, dieting to unsafe levels, then the last day eating all sorts of sugar and what not to artificially force glycogen out to make us look good for a matter of hours. And then pumping up before hitting the stage. It's all a sham. But hey, there are dudes that love that sorta thing. It just isn't for me. I'm glad I did it to say I did it, but at the end of the day, I was just too sick of the "hobby" to continue.

Here's me a few months out before my competition.... this is a day to day physique. Not those super shredded, shrink wrapped looking bodies we attain for precious hours.

But I do realize I'm being a crotchety old asshole. I don't mean to deter you from doing more training. You look younger than I am, so you still have a little life left in ya! ;)

Yeah I remember you preparing for it and I can relate to the whole carb depletion and cut water stuff. Went through the whole journey some days ago. Can't really say I enjoyed it as much as i'd thought I would. It's good to do it at least once in your life just for the experience part but yeah, you look shredded for only a matter of hours. Not to mention the temper tantrums I had leading up to the competition.

I'm 37+ (38 in six months time) Might look a bit younger because of the babyface but ain't that young :P

Keep training no matter how you look. Fitness is a lifestyle, I'm sure you'll agree ;)

Face looked like shit leading up to the comp. Was a total wreck so yeah, 56! :D Truth be told this is very bad in the workplace. Subconsciously people think you're a youngster = don't really respect you.

Keep on being a good dad NGT and don't ever get pissed at him if he fucks up at fishing.

Your words stuck in my head. Today at the pond he cast into the trees across the water twice and i laughed and told him it was cool. He was happy and ended up wanting to cast better on his own, without me telling anything. He's a good kid. A goofball, lol, but a really good kid.

Oh wow man, I'm glad you thought of what I said.

It's easy to forget you were bad at something you're good at now. Your kid's still learning, and will make many mistakes, but with patience and positive encouragement he'll go farther and be more determined than with responses of disappointment and anger. Keep up the good fathering.

Thanks man! I'm still learning too...fishing and parenting, lol. I've been working on being a better person in general, and reactions when my kid screws up seems like a good focus area. I have never really yelled at him, but i know my expression says a lot. He loves fishing and i don't want to ruin it.

5 years old, hopped on Drop Zone at the fair with no fear. He didn't know what he was in for, lol, and didn't want to go back on, but couldn't stop talking about how cool it was :)

went to the beach @ Indiana Dunes yesterday. It definitely gave me my beach fix but I miss the real ocean.
