Track #5: "Beer For My Horses" *Never was much for country
music until about a year ago. Then I heard this song w. Willie Nelson
and I was like > "STORM RIDE MUTHA FUCKAS!" The rest of the CD is
okay, but that song is awesome.

"And justice is the one thing you should always find, you gotta' saddle
up your boys, you gotta' draw a hard line. When the gun smoke settles
will sing a victory tune, and we'll all head back to the local saloon.
We
raise up our glasses against EVIL forces, singing whiskey for my men, and beer for my horses!"

French Hip Hop! yes, no lies. French Hip Hop. I've become OBSESSED with it. The shit is real. Its what American hip hop used to be and needs to return to. dope beats with serious rhymes minus the B.S.

France knows how to do it.

Spin, check out a bunch of groups besides IAM too, like 3ème Oeil, Oxmo Puccino, Fonky Family, NTM, etc. Also, I definitely recommend Akhenaton's solo records, especially Métèque et mat.

Also pick up the Chroniques de Mars record - it's got a ton of dope tracks, including Le Retour du Shit Squad, amazing cut with a bunch of MCs on it. Haki verse and Sentenza (aka Akhenaton) verses are sick.

*John Cafferty has never gotten enough credit. He started out at about the same time Springsteen did, but isn't as well known and many think it's Bruce when they hear him. My fave band of all time, they sing about Real Life. Track #4 Killing Time is so everyone @ some point in their life it's not even funny. Guess his style would be considered too basic for most ppl though.

I just started listening to U.nited S.tate of A.tlanta by the Ying Yang Twins. Wow it's much better than they last release and I feel they really put a lot into this one. I see myself listening to this one for a weeks to come.

Oh trust me, i'm all over it and have been for about 5 years now. IAM is just my favorite group. I got a bunch of fonky family shit on my wishlist on amazon. And I ordered some French DVD's with soundtracks from said groups like the movie Taxi(hilarious).

bad ass

I know they have a similar collection on vinyl

Yep. Hugo Montenegro & his orchestra even did The Good, The Bad & The Ugly on 33's back in the late 60's. Iv'e got a few more Italian Western CDs coming in soon, can't wait to sit back and listen to them. I never get tired of Ennio's outlandish and inventive stuff. I liked his work on Once Upon A Time In America too, though it was of a different flavor.

I've been listening to

- some classic adaptions of soundtracks of Ennio Morricone (it's a current recording, and even tho the sound is very good, I prefer the original movie versions of his music in most cases)

- Kraftwerk double-vinyl remix album (quite good, but not their very best release, that's for sure... too much repetitive 4-4 openhi house beats, but even that doesn't manage to hurt tracks like Musique Nonstop, Zahlen, etc.

- Lustmord "Heresy" (I was reading some weird fiction novels and decidet I'd need a proper soundtrack to go with it...)

- Master's Hammer "Klavierstück" (part two of my weird fiction novel soundtrack, this time it's Czech death/black core. The moths near my speakers are all death core now as well.)

- Spyro Gyra "Morning Dance" (a bit of 70s Brazil funk here. I like this kind of 'dry', electronic version of the original funk style, just with a little more straightness similar to Mezzoforte or Klaus Doldinger's Passport)

Edit: Merc, I see you're into some Morricone stuff as well. Nice.
