Merc, I salute your good taste,
Damm, that is one good CD. I liked the Mononoke OST better that the movie itself... and I really dug the movie (even if it was Miyazaki's weakest work). In fact I use that as my primary "audio test CD."

You thought it was his "weakest" work?

mononokehime2ih.jpg

WOW, I always rated the movie as some of his best work. At least it hit me with a powerful force, and with Joe Hisaishi's score for this flim I was simply mesmerized. It was also one of the few times I didn't have a problem with an English Dubb of a film, though of course for the OST and poster and what not concerning Mononoke Hime I had to get the JPN stuff. I absolutely hated the Americanized covers with the guy on the front cover. The film was about Mononoke. As a big fan of Miyazaki's I'd have to say out of them all, this IS my favorite, though I love Nausicaa and Porco Rosso as well. *Still haven't seen "Spirited Away" though so maybe I'll change my mind. Currently I'm looking for his earlier Future Boy Conan series as I remember watching that when I was a bit younger on Community Access Channel 20 [ANIME REVIEW]. I probably like Mononoke the best because I'm a person who's very drawn to nature though, as my Native American blood yearns for the unfenced frontier.

As of right now I'm listening to...

I've always loved Dolores' voice, and this group is about as mellow as I get these days on such songs like Linger and Dreams, but it's still all about ZOMIBE! Probably put on some Basil Poledorius (Conan: The Barbarian OST) in a little bit though. CROM!

Well I'm currently listening to as of this typing...

ennioost0is.jpg

*The mood of the OST is great to tune out to. Almost all of
Ennio's work is on this suka' except a few tunes used for the
Franco Nero film Il Mercenario and The Good, The Bad &
The Ugly
which was on a different OST sadly.

Before that I had been listening to the other following OSTs...

snatchost5ne.jpg

sorost5sp.jpg

*It's all about Y.Koshiro and his mad tunes. Track #14 Expander
is the pinnacle of the OST.

marathon session yesterday and today.
had to get the car fixed.
did school work, sped to austin. checked out the show,
casting couch first, the shells second, and then aih.
they played at 12:50 and were done at 2 in the morning.
sped back home, slept for 3 hours and then took a 6 hour physics lab
at 8 in the morning.
it was so worth it though.

Track #5: "Mad Machine!" *Some of the songs are gay but
some still kick ass in that late 80's early 90's rock style.

Next up is...

rastansagaost6sq.jpg

Remixed versions of the Arcade game. *Still awesome though.

Album's in my sig. Shame I hadn't heard of this band sooner. It's like Iron Maiden with a modern twist.

Locus Factor - Between Saviors and Thieves

cdcover.jpg

What's even better was the album is free.

http://www.krisnorris.com/locusfactor/locus.html

Side project with the guitarist from Darkest Hour and Cory Smoot (aka Flattus Maximus of Gwar)

Very Melodic with tons of solos and acoustic work. Solo work reminds me a little of In Flames but better in some ways.

Doesn't sound like DH, can't even say I like any of DH's songs.

A now defunct company called MARS COLONY Music released the soundtrack with Yuzo Koshiro's full consent in February of 2000. Their website has since gone down as well as the Mars Music stores to my understanding. The Ost like the original Japanese one originally released in 1992 is now an out of print CD but here's the ISBN Number > 82046 10062 Catalog Number > MCM-10106-2. It can still be found on Ebay and other specialty stores who never moved it, but you'd have to look around. They shouldn't be too hard to find, though they are not super common either.

I just listened to the new Flaming Lips track from the Wedding Crashers soundtrack.

It's not bad. The new album's definitely gonna be a change from the synth-anthems from Soft Bulletin/Yoshimi.

Whats it like?

He plays an electric cello coupled with other electronics and dreamy vocals. The lyrics are strange and hard to make out. Highly recomended avant-garde music from the 80s.
