I'll go with the Viper.
Let's just say I've always been a Viper fan and I still like it.

I still think that car will be sex on wheels. And if the block is as strong as the last SVT mustang block, it will push out some serious power with just some lame bolt ons and still remain reliable. If it comes out at below 40k like ford says, I'll find out. :)

Matt

PS: Anyone know offhand how much hp the t56 can run through it before the reliability of it becomes a factor?

most definatly. give the two an actual race course and the vette will own the viper. the viper can't handle, the viper is just a drag car, pure and simple. the vette on the other hand has a real rough and tumble suspension built to handle curves and hairpins like a pro. give me the vette and you'll give me a real race machine. give me the viper and you'll give me a high dollar hunk of metal with a big engine.
I love the Viper, but I'll take a Z06 for the reasons above. I've seen a C6 Z06 in person at an auto show, and let me tell you, when Chevrolet says that the Z06 is a street-legal race car, I'm going to believe them. Add to that the Corvette name and heritage and the Corvette's racing successes in recent years, dominating Le Mans and all, I'll take the 'Vette anyday. :glee:

Definitely. I perfer the Vette, but the Viper's raw brutality is what makes it so sexy ;)

i liked the old viper bodystyle the one from the mid ninties. but the viper itself has always been a car that never appeals to me. i think dodge focuses too much on power and not enough on the handling or suspension. i mean if dodge really put some focus on the car's suspension and handling you'd have a real monster. but until that time i'll quote my friend rodney on this "can't nothin beat a vette"

there's no self respecting redneck that would admit a corvette could be beat by anything. you know how they are. the iroc in the backyard, the sleeveless winger T-shirt, the mullet.

Yeah, that's always pretty funny I know the type even in Florida. :p

It gets even worse here though. I know women who think the Mustang is THE dream car to own. :kekeke:

oh no, i know a lady like that she lives across the street. her dream car is a mustang convertible, so that's what she has. the damn thing is a piece of trash with a little V-6 that has no power, but she believes it's unstoppable. the worst though are the ones who have their personal favorite truck decked out. it's either ford, dodge, or chevy based on the man. and each one has that truck so souped up you can hear em a mile away. straightpiped dual exhaust, 4 inch lift, new mud tires with shiny rims, and the damn thing has a kenny rogers tape stuck in the tape deck and only plays that.

LOL. I have a friend who has a 2003 V-6 Mustang who put Saleen decals all over the fucking car. He also believes it's a great handler. A car in 2003 based on a platform from 1978 is going to have shit handling period. :p

what's worse is the ford escort i saw the other day with a body kit and a type-R decal on the rear and guess what they did to the ford sign? they took it off and replaced it with the H from honda. there never seems to be a lack of idiots out there.

So which is your choice:

BMW M5 E60
bmwm505.jpg

or

Alpina B5 E60
img_index2.jpg

Although it might seem that these two are quite alike and some may think what's the point with the Alpina when we already have the M5.
Well, first of all these are actually two whole different machines.
The M5 is powered by a high revving naturally aspirated 5.0 litre V10 whereas in the Alpina, the power is charged to a 4.4 litre V8 in lower revs by a compressor.

Alpina's engine is able to produce 700 Nm of torque, M5 builds 520 Nm. See?
In Alpina you get the peak power of 500 hp in 5500r/min and in M5 you get the max power of 500 hp in 7750r/min.

The looks are from a familiar concept. On Alpina there's the traditional 20-spoke alloys, Alpina decals and blue colour, M5 is a 5er with a basic tuned look.

M5 is an icon, Alpinas are more exclusive-like and interesting.

Here's also a nice detail, since year 1979 Alpina has also been producing wines.

Displacement: 2.986 liter / 182.2 cu in
Valvetrain: 4 valves / cylinder, DOHC
Fuel feed: Fuel injection
Aspiration: Naturally Aspirated
Gearbox: 5 speed Manual
Drive: Front wheel drive

didn't we go over SHO's a couple pages back? anyways i think i've decided on the car for me. the 1986 toyota supra hatchback. there's several of them in my area and they're all under the $3000 mark. and fuck yeah it's a used sports car, but i've been working on cars since i was a kid. so working on it would be nothing. now getting insurance would be another thing...

I just love the SHO that much. ;)

What is your driving career like? Lots of tickets and/or accidents? If not, don't worry about insurance.

When I race around at night (early morning) - I always get pulled over. I never get pulled over for speeding in the middle of the day though. Must be a Phoenix thing.

see the cops here at night are always parked at either a 24 hour restaurant, or 7-11. they never seem to leave those places, so get far enough away from them and the cops are like nonexistent. though now they've started construction on one nice long stretch of road near me (highway 183 from north austin to cedar park) where tons of kids used to drag when they'd get the chance, and now there are cops out there since the road is busy as hell during the day the workers come out at night. so ya just gotta find someplace else to race is all. and with roads like FM2222 and spicewood springs racing is a thrill here (both of them are long, and full of twists and turns and like built into limestone cliffs or over creeks and ponds.

Is that Austin Texas? I remember when I was in Dallas last there were crazy drivers on the main freeways at night - with no cops anywhere in sight.

The racing scene around here is if you drive your ass to Sebring, Daytona or SCCA sanctioned events.

yeah austin is good for driving fast at night once you get away from whataburger. then you get on the highway and kick it and that's that. but the problem here is you never see people pulling badass moves on the road. it's always just drag racing. it's rare to see people like seriously driving their cars around tight turns and hairpins and such. though every once in a while you see someone hit a turn and just drift it and go. there's this fella who lives somewhere in my neighborhood with a bright red evo8 who does all sorts of crazy shit around here. though i think the coolest thing i've seen was this guy in an f-350 just stop in the middle of the street, and burn out so hard it was rediculous. the tire marks were there after like 5 months and the smoke was just covering the sky. it was so badass.
