that are decently CHEAP... yet 100% reliable with excellent service and product.

I don't want sites that you have only bought off once.. I want to know who deals with what site and has proof that site is good.

I am expanding some options at the moment.

I used Tigerdirect.com
Newegg.com
Sometimes Dell.com when they have peripheral sales.

but I am looking for hardware, software, accessories..etc...
motherboards, ram, hard drives, printers, cabling.... etc..etc..etc

thanks,

www.newegg.com

I can not reccomend these people enough.

I've built 3 systems in the past few weeks, one of them being my own 1337 rig, all of the parts came from Newegg (ok so I got my heatsink from somewhere else but everything else is newegg).

They are wonderful people and even when I had to RMA a wrong HD (not their fault, mislabled at IBM believe it or not) it went FLAWLESSLY.

I build PC's for a lot of people for low cash and Newegg always has awesome prices and are very reliable.

Almost all the companies in CA are good.

JH was right about newegg.com I've also shopped at googlegear.com both are outstanding places.

That's about the only thing that sux being in CA is all the cheap comptuer parts are sold here, but the tax kills you:angry:

I know the name is not that serious (well neither is newegg.com anyway) but they have great prices and super fast and cheap delivery.

I built my entire computer buying parts from them and newegg, got everything delivered FedEx 2nd day for FREE and had the best prices around.

is newegg really that trust worthy though. I have bought off them before and everything was great....

something about the site though...

I'll have to give the zipzoom site a try as well :)

anyone know of maybe somewhere that would give semi-wholesale pricing if I were building 17-25 computers?

thanks again.

Buy.com is pretty reasonably priced (or it was 2 yrs ago when I put my Dad's friends PC together). I bought the sound card, HDD, floppy and CPU from them.

Pricewatch is a good place to go to search for good prices, but like you said, they may not be all that trustworthy. On occasion I've let the price win me over and been surprised with service, but you gotta be careful.

Oh, and when buying an Intel CPU, always buy the BOXED Intel CPU, not the cheaper BULK OEM CPU. The boxed version has a 3 yr warranty, as opposed to 90 days on an OEM part.

I notice Zipzoom and Newegg don't have processor/motherboard combos like some other stores I've looked at. I just want a decent Athlon chip and MB (1800+ or more) for CHEAP... any suggestions?

try tigerdirect.

They are very good.
Well... I think so at least. They are in line with zipzoom price wise (which both are more than Newegg).

Newegg is the shit...

I'm not sure what you would deem "trustworthy," but I've ordered tons of things from the site, and made several returns as well.

Never any hassle from customer service on returning things, and my orders always show up in 3-5 days.

Good company -- which is why their name always pops up when someone asks this question.

Be careful with Tiger Direct. I don't know if they still practice this, but I remember a few months ago there were a load of Tigerdirect customers complaining because their long distance provider was changed after making an order.

Just be careful what you agree to when checking out. TD was (still might be) partnered with some sleazy phone company.

I am lucky enough to live an hour from San Jose so I never have to buy anything online to get it cheap :D I have used these guys in the past though and they are top notch. New Egg is definitly a great place to shop as well.

2 of the places I haunt all the time and buy alot of stuff from are these guys.

If there is a Fries in youre area you might want to look at their cpu/motherboard combos. They usually have some good ones for less than the cpu price alone ,other than that they are generally way too expensive on almost everything in the store, great place to go check stuff out then buy it elsewhere though :D

I can also attest to www.newegg.com's greatness, built most of my new PC with stuff from them.

Another site that's been ok is www.essencompu.com. I'm not crazy about their UPS shipping, but other than that I've had good dealings with them.

Bought some stuff from Newegg in the past and was very happy with the prices and service.

I've also purchased parts for 2 PCs from mwave.com. No complaints.

Newegg is simply incredible. Their prices are hard to beat, shipping is oftentimes free and, best of all, no tax if you live outside of CA (and when you're purchasing a lot of stuff, not being slapped with >8% sales tax is a nice perk indeed).
