Well fuck it
people were asking so here it is.
There brothers who own the only chain of used game shops in Rochester NY. They started with a small store in a local mall in 88 and now they have more shit than you can believe I honestly think they deal coke cus it just doesn't make sense. You walk into there shop and they have tons of new psx,n64,snes games all sunfaded as hell.
I have offered time and again to buy some stuff from there stock room. So one day Jeff takes me into the stock room and we strike up the Neo Geo conversation and he points to stacks of cases over in the corner. Says he bought out SNK when they went under, same story as Dion exept he has no intention of selling any of them or any of the stuff he has. He also told me that I have to buy whats on the shelves. Aka sunfaded shit.
He didnt however have Neo games on the shelf so he sold me some overpriced common titles he had a ton of. I have hounded and hounded him about letting me go through and pick some more games out, even went there after my tax return last year but it was a no go. These guys dont sell old rare shit or what they consider rare. They had a case of handheld famicom systems, boot or whatever and wont sell me any of them althou they are displayed. Wont even sell me there turbo duo's in witch they have a few systems on display.
The ebay seller still sells brand new aes games at 29.99 and 39.99 and I bet you do know who it is he had a few pallets of cases left over from the buy out and he wont sell any of the rare and or expensive titles. He told me the buy out was over a Million and thats why Dion pisses me of. This guy said maybe he bought the last of the stuff they had but other retailers were buying them out at the same time and he knew someone who worked for SNK that told him that people were making offers all over the world and they were liquidating all of there stock. They were smart though in how they were doing it. He said they were using all left over material to produce as many cases as they could so they could try and recoup the huge losses they had incurred including production of thousands of more neo cd games aes and mvs games. You dont here much about the liquidation of the MVS games. They had a ton of empty MVS pcbs and I would love to know what warehouse there in.
I could go on for ever Dions stories dont add up to what Ive been told by Jeff and this guy from ebay and yaton. Especially in the MVS department considering they werent making kits in the end just carts tons and tons of them to get rid of extra stock in fact after they ran out of cases and they still had a large amount of boards with roms on them that they were selling. Its why yaton had to make fake cases. It all adds up man think about how many cases would take up a run of 5,000 games it just doesnt make sense they had so much unsold shit its why they went under they just couldnt get rid of stock and thats the bottom line why they failed. Oh and Dion talks about what he bought 5000 aes x $10.00 = $50,000us. Do you really think thats all they had left in stock. Common man thats unrealistic they had a ton more available according to Jeff althou he even said he bought them out. The guy on ebay said he bought them out, alot of people seem to have bought them out. Ive heard three people who bought them out. A company that big is going to have alot more than 5,000 aes games upon liquidation in fact I bet it was more like thirty or fourty thousand they were only willing to give Dion a small portion of what they had for ten bucks a peice they were a little brighter than Dion gives them credit.
