Hi guys, I'll spend a couple of weeks in Sydney the last half of December, if you want to take a couple of beers, talking about old games and visit some arcades let me know!

Beautiful city --I had a nice time at Doyles on the Beach over on Watsons Bay, as well as hanging out in Manly and Bondi on top of walking around the livable downtown/Sydney Cove areas.

Envious! :envy:

I think my wife would have a legal right to shoot me if I met for Neo gaming on my honeymoon :p

If you can take a side-trip, you should try to get up to the Great Barrier Reef. I wasn't sure if it would be worth it (I'm not really into snorkeling or diving), but it blew me away.

Yep, I underestimate her patience sometimes...

Thanks, I'm not in diving too, but I would try something like that definitively!

OK guys, time for a quick update!

In case someone is wondering about arcades in Sydney, the answer is yes, I found one at least! :)

In George St., you'll find "Galaxy World":

It's two floor, on the first only UFO catcher etc, but on 2nd you find other stuff

it's a very japanese style arcade, small, dirty, with some Astro, Egrets, viewlix etc..

nice VS city!

Chinese community is very integrated and present, so you'll probably have your time challenging someone.

Unfortunately no 2d games around, more SFIV/tekken etc..

bonus pic, a nice DVD shop in chinatown:

I found a couple of other interesting spots too, not game but japan-related...stay tuned! :)

Wow to be honest that arcade is sweet.

The arcades near me are all full of ticket winning pointless coin eating games. No fighters at all :(

I strongly second that. I would bet mine to kill me knowing the tortures I will suffer if I just imagine something linked to arcade during our honeymoon

Update

Here a final update about Sydney's arcades, I think no more could be found:

first of all, about 2D fighting games in Galaxy World in George street, I was wrong.

you can find Balze Blue CS, but (drums) KOF XIII!!!!

kof13.jpg

More, you can find a second Galaxy World Arcade, located in Market City mall (near chinatown)

It's huge, like the old times, but far from driving, aiming and other games, you can find a decent set for VS:

Now, surprise, a table game shop, very unique (George St. near central station):

far from traditional games (and space to play them)

you can find a "corner" with more than 10 cabinets, mostly vewlix with SF4:

Surprise, under the veils:

two Capcom's Cute!

They said they will probably put them away...if someone is interested, I think it's a good chance, as they were in top condition IMO.

Well, that's it, I spent some hour of fun searching for Arcades, and I was happy I found something so nice....I would have it in Italy you know...:oh_no:

Here a last bonus!

I'm sort of envious of Sydney now, Melbourne's got some good arcades but damn those look good.

You really should have came down to Melbourne. You missed out on seeing some great arcades here, and trying Australia's best beers :)

I would have travelled up to Sydney to meet you but I just can't afford it at the moment.
