Like others here I am interested in upgrading the speakers in my cab. I am getting some speakers that were removed from a Samsung home theater system (new and unused)

What I am unsure of is if the amp on a typical on JAMMA board or Neo Geo 4 slot board will produce enough juice to drive these speakers. My cab has a switch for stereo/mono. I am only looking for a reasonable sound output level - not max db or SPL or whatever...Just better quality sound than the stock oval crap speakers that my cab came with.

Any audio experts out there that can tell me if this is going to work. Here is the info about the speakers.

3" round shielded

Impedance: 8 Ohms.

Frequency Range: 140hz - 20khz

Pressure level: 86db/w/m

Rated input: 180 watts

Maximum input: 360 watts.

Thanks.

I don't think the amps on JAMMA boards can put out anywhere near 180 watts, it's more like 5. Does your cab have a separate amp?

Yeah, I thought the typical JAMMA amp outputs 10 to 12 watts. Just not sure what that means when paired with these speakers - does the pressure level: 86db/w/m mean that the sound be very low when powered by 5 watts?

Should the speakers I get be rated at 5 or 10 watts?
