Why arcade games are always better than console ones.

Consider this, Arcade games must...
-be immediately fun to play and be able to play immediately without interruption
-be competitive when it's a versus and challenging when single player
and
-be finely tuned and balanced
because...
BE CAUSE. . .

other wise no one would play it more than once and the arcade operator would get rid of it and not order any more games from that series and maybe even company. Therefore this environment is able to only allow games that are actually GOOD to survive. While the console environment is much much more relaxed. And it thus results in weaker games that are sometimes not really even able to be called games as we know them.

Here is also a choice quote from one of our members here that agrees with the above without even knowing it.
Fucking lazy ass developers are to blame.

How about instead of letting us skip the shitty parts you just DON'T PUT THEM IN THE FUCKING GAME TO BEGIN WITH.

There isn't a single second of Metal Slug that I want to skip, even the control tutorial. Every single FUCKING MILLISECOND of that game is packed with fun.

I tried playing Folklore on the Triple last night and it took me almost a goddamn hour to get to the battle tutorial. Absolutely unacceptable.

I just really don't get it: if people hate certain sections of your game, take them the fuck out!

You do actually know some of the more recent taito type X2 ports to PS3 and 360 are actually better graphically, have less slowdown and have more features than the arcade originals... right?

Or that several XBLA/PSN/WiiWare titles fit the criteria he posted exactly.

Wow. The blind leading the blind. I guess it's hopeless on any part of this forum. Have a "fun" time with your delusional bullshit console games and jack off to fucking weird shit like some users here do. I'm out. Good. Bye.

Well my major problem with console gaming is that they target for a totally different audience. I'm a skill-based gamer so I need something that's going to push me to my limits. I don't like the idea of playing thru a game for like 20 or so hours at all. I do understand that people want a story, but IMO if you want a story go watch a movie.

Like when I 1cc an arcade game I feel like I overcome a great challenge. It's like a big rush when fighting the last boss on your last life. When you did something that most people think it's impossible I found it to be a great feeling.

Console gaming IMO are made so anyone can beat it. Believe it or not I found it very confusing that you must learn a lot of shit to even play it (like the 30 minutes how-to-play sessions and such). It doesn't make me too happy that Nintendo is coming out with their "Demo Play" feature which if the game becomes too hard the player can let the game "beat" it for them.

I don't even consider WoW an game, it's more to me a social experience. Just seeing people playing it makes me want to go to sleep and tell them to go get a life. :P

I don't know, three buttons and a joystick is more than enough for me.

That's not always the case: Arcadia Heart 2 (spelling?) was terrible on the PS2 and shit the DDP DOJ port on the 360 was trash. Now I for the most part don't even care about Arcadia Heart 2 but I mean this is 2009 and they still can't port an arcade game correctly on the PS2 and the 360!!??

Many arcade games do come with extras when they are ported to home consoles. I'm not going to lie to you but I honestly don't even give a shit about extras at all. To me the most important part to me is how good the port is from the arcade original.

Back to Arcadia Heart 2 I don't know if it comes with extras (I believe it does come with extras like many fighting game ports does) but regular console gamers or people who like anime-style fighting games will buy it for the extras and stuff. The arcade gamers for the most part will stay away from it because the port is not even a perfect arcade experience.

I don't know if the DDP DOJ port on the 360 comes with extras but honestly I don't even care when the port has issues. I would tell people to get the PS2 port and a PS2 since it's just about perfect and has 240p in TATE mode.

One more example is when TvC came out on the Wii. My roommates have their modded Wiis and they want to import it just for the extras. I think they were surprised that I care more about how good is the port than the extras. Of course I believe the port is perfect on the Wii and that was more than enough to tell people to buy it.

I'm going have to say this again: Arcade gamers for the most part care more about how good is the port than the extras, while console gamers care more about the extras. Are extras nice for people to unlock them, yeah. Problem is how good are the extras when the port itself is trash.

You see, if he just said: I prefer arcade games, and these are my reasons....etc.
nobody would have said shit.

It's a stupid thing to discuss though, like debating whether blockbuster films are better than straight up porno. Same format, difference experience.

anyone can 1cc an arcade game too, they just don't devote all their waking hours on a fucking video game so they can.

Really? I only play like one hour max per day. Arcade games for the most part are not designed for long gaming sessions. I only play like one game for like three-four sessions per day and that's it.

True, the Taito Type X2 ports are going to be great with extras and such. As long as the ports are just about perfect towards the arcade originals that's what I care about.

Agreed.

This is just another inarticulate, trolling "my fun is more fun than your fun" thread.

I'm opposed to shitty games, only.

Multiplayer games don't have to be competitive... there are plenty of co-op arcade games that are equally enjoyable.

...but the competitive ones are my cup of tea I admit.

I think team based online multiplayer games grant the best of both worlds. Nothing better than using teamwork to defeat actual opponents.

..and then get teamkilled from behind by some 13-year-old shouting "spic niggerfaggot" before all of his clan buddies show up and boot you from the game.

Shit like that is why I haven't played SOCOM in over a month.
