does it have a socketed bios? what's the serial no.?

Earlier serials are desired because they have better colours. And a socketed bios makes for an easy switch to a unibios. I'm pretty sure yours is, since almost everyone who installs a unibios, will put in a socket for ease of switching out the unibios for a newer version.

You haven't mentioned what the serial is, we aren't psychic.

Look on the bottom of the machine. $350 for a conversion is ridiculous too
