WWE Smackdown Results: 9-19-08

Results courtesy of ProWrestling.net (direct link to Powell's complete report). Condensed here to in-ring results only.

1. Michelle McCool pinned Maryse to retain the WWE Divas Championship in 5:15. Plenty of forced mannerisms and movements in this one. They both played to the live crowd by flipping their hair back and trying to act seductive. The live crowd didn't seem to care much about that, but they got into the action. In the end, McCool hooked Maryse's arms behind her, picked her up, and dropped her to the mat before getting the pin.

Powell's POV: Both women tried hard and they seemed to be making an effort to play to the crowd more even though their mannerisms seemed forced.

2. Festus (w/Jesse) fought Ryan Braddock to an apparent no-contest in 2:45. The usual Festus match. Braddock got a little offense in when he dove at Festus's legs and applied a chin lock. Festus came right back and took control of the match, but Jesse threw him a roll of duct tape. Jesse entered the ring and they taped Braddock. The referee called for the bell...

Powell's POV: I don't know whether they're trying to protect Braddock by not having Festus pin him or bury him by having the match end with the tape spot.

3. R-Truth defeated Shelton Benjamin in a non-title match in 9:40. The usual "What's Up" ring entrance from R-Truth. Shelton's arrogant reaction to R-Truth's entrance was great. Ross said Shelton had the opportunity to go to college and get a good education. Tazz said Shelton things he's above Killings.

Shelton controlled the offense and twisted him like a pretzel. A small R-Truth chant broke out. R-Truth made a couple of comeback attempts, but Shelton continued to dominate the match until R-Truth used a roll up out of nowhere to win the match. Hurricane Helms appeared in a small circle on the screen and said the price of gold just went down...

Powell's POV: The match wasn't very exciting with Shelton dominating on the mat, but the live crowd is really into R-Truth and they popped big when he won. This must have been the upset that J.R. mentioned in his blog. The Helms thing was short and sweet. Although he referred to himself as Hurricane, he wasn't wearing his old Hurricane costume.

4. Jeff Hardy pinned The Brian Kendrick (w/Ezekiel Jackson) in 7:50. Hardy punched Kendrick in the face to start the match, but Kendrick dumped him to ringside and celebrated while the show cut to a commercial break about a minute into the match.

Back and forth action after the break until Hardy noticed Zeke making a move at ringside. Kendrick tried to take advantage of the distraction by going for his finisher, but Hardy used a backslide to score the win. Nice finish. Afterward, Vladimir Kozlov came out onto the stage and kicked Hardy while he was celebrating...

Powell's POV: I'm intrigued by the Kozlov and Hardy feud. I don't expect it to be a series of great matches, but the buildup has been strong thus far.

5. Great Khali (w/Runjin Singh) squashed Scotty Goldman in 1:35. Total squash. Ross pointed out that Khali never left his feet. Tazz announced Khali vs. Kozlov for next week...

Powell's POV: I guess the fans will be forced to cheer for, um, well, uh...I have no idea which wrestler the fans will root for in this epic showdown that is sure to produce a five-star mat classic. WWE is hyping plenty of matches because they want one more chance to remind viewers about the big move to MyNetwork Television.

6. Triple H pinned MVP in a non-title match in 14:00. Ross said MVP claims to be the highest paid wrestler on the Smackdown roster. He said he should relish this opportunity to face Hunter. Ross also stated that Hunter doesn't make any mistakes and labeled him a modern day Harley Race.

The live crowd was really quiet while MVP got the better of Triple H early on and they didn't make a peep when MVP performed some of his signature taunts. However, they popped when Hunter mocked one of MVP's taunts.

MVP worked over Hunter with a wrist lock after the break while the crowd chanted Triple H. Eventually, Hunter made his comeback and the pace of the match picked up around 12:30. A minute later, Hunter hit the spinebuster, but MVP rolled to ringside and sold a back injury.

Hunter followed, but MVP elbowed him and slammed his head into the announcers' table. MVP threw Hunter inside the ring. MVP climbed to the top rope and jumped off, but Hunter kicked him on the way down and hit the Pedigree for the win.

Triple H celebrated briefly until Vladimir Kozlov's music interrupted his own music. Hunter motioned for Kozlov to face him in the ring. Kozlov walked to ringside and they stared each other down. Kozlov entered the ring and Tazz said he was getting goosebumps. Ross said this was a matchup that Smackdown fans had been thinking about for a long time.

Kozlov entered the ring. Ross said there was no fear in the eyes of either wrestler. Ross pointed out that Hunter just competed in the main event. MVP tried to attack Hunter from behind, but Hunter saw him and knocked him off the apron. Kozlov attacked Hunter while he was distracted. They traded a couple punches. Kozlov controlled the exchange until Hunter gave him a jaw jacker. Kozlov came back with the battering ram head butt that left Hunter lying on the mat.

Powell's POV: Kozlov is getting the mega-push. I thought they were going to take their time with him until I watched this show. I didn't think they did MVP any favors tonight. The live crowd isn't reacting to him right now, but WWE isn't giving him any meaningful mic time to get his heat back.

- PPV then opened with an Austin Aries promo. Jimmy Jacobs interrupted, then Delirious jumped Aries from behind.

(1) Austin Aries beat Delirious in the PPV opener. Said to be a "great opener." Age of the Fall then jumped Aries after the match. (2) Sara Del Ray beat a jobber after Sweet 'n Sour Inc. came out for a Sweeney promo.

(3) Erick Stevens & NWA champion Brent Albright beat Adam Pearce & Eddie Edwards. Radican says it was a real good middle-to-end. Albright hit a half-nelson suplex on Pearce for the win.

Steen and Generico went into the crowd to celebrate with the belts. (****3/4)

(10) Nigel McGuinness beat Roderick Strong to retain the ROH Title. Said to be an incredible match with Nigel retaining. Nigel then talked afterward about no one being able to beat him. He then accepted Danielson's challenge for a future PPV title match. (****1/4)

AAA on Galavision TV Report

By: Xavier Hernandez
Show aired on: 09/20/2008

The announcers welcome us to the show. Summary of last week's show: Octagoncito defeated Mini Kenzo in the Mini's tourney. Gato and Billy won their match. The Harts did an impressive performance, but got screwed by the Hermandad. The newly formed AAA army defeated the Legion. For this show, the Minis will wrestle again, plus Aerostar and Superfly get chances to be in upper card matches.

*Promo Video: This one hypes the feud between the Legion and Superfly. Fly wanted to join in, but his partners and Octagon convinced him to stay with AAA. The Legion is very pissed off, and now they will make Fly's life a living hell.

1) AAA Mini Championship (Qualifying Match #8)
Mascarita Sagrada vs. Mini Charlie Manson

-First Fall: Manson played the heel in this match, using kicks and other dirty moves to attack Mascarita. Mascarita uses his takedowns and dropkicks on Manson, and he even does the Asai Moonsault on Manson. Mascarita gets caught into a Belly-to-Belly Suplex, and Manson pins him with a Plancha.

Winner: Mini Charlie Manson

*Promo Video: This one hypes the feud between employer and employee (Roldan vs. Konnan). No need to explain this feud, if you have been watching the show.

*Pretaped Segment: The Piratas cut a promo. They warn Billy about getting into a feud with them. They also tell Angel and Gato that the Piratas don't fly, but they can wrestle, and they will teach the tecnicos a lesson.

2) Los Piratas (Pirata Morgan Jr., Hijo del Pirata & Barba Roja) vs. Billy Boy, Gato Eveready & El Angel

-First Fall: Typical match, no big feud to call. The Piratas set Gato into the crowd, and the launch a Pirata into Gato all the way to the fourth row. The Piratas apply a variety of team moves to punish the tecnicos. The tecnicos manage to make the comeback, with aerial moves. Gato does a Phoenix Splash on Pirata Jr., Angel does a suicide dive on Hijo, and Billy closes with a Diving Plancha on Barba. The Piratas also do flying moves on the tecnicos. Billy hits the Vertabreaker on Pirata Jr. for the pin.

Winners: Billy Boy, Gato Eveready & El Angel

*Noti AAA:
-Matches for VdE: Ciber vs. Chessman, Tag Team titles in a Fatal Four Ladder match (you know the teams), the Minis Finals, the Mixed Tga Titles between the Apaches and the Morenos, and much more.
-Video of how Mesias attacked Chessman last week.
-Another video of last week's confrontation between Roldan and konnan
-Promo of the Harts, who bow to destroy the Mexican Powers. Can't believe they let the Harts cut such a strong promo, knowing that American fans also see this show.
-Some AAA guys will tour Spain during september.

*Pretaped Segment: Cinthia says she's the best, and challenges the Apaches for all of their titles. Polvo tells Pimpi he feels sorry for him, and even makes the hair vs. hair challenge. On the other hand, Fabi and Pimpi make fun of their opponents.

3) Cinthia Moreno & Polvo de Estrellas vs. Fabi Apache & Pimpinela Escarlata

-First Fall: Ladies after ladies, exotics after exotics, and so on. Pimpi actually throws Cinthia into the first row. Cinthia got her head opened, and she was bleeding hard, but returned to the match. Fabi locks an Armbar, but Polvo locks a triangle Hold on Fabi, and Pimpi locks an inverted Surfboard on Polvo. Fabi does a Diving Silla on Cinthia. In the ring, Pimpi does a Missile Dropkick and pins Polvo.

Winners: Fabi Apache & Pimpinela Escarlata

*Pretaped Segment: Gato was talking to "that person": Pimpinela (r u kiddin'?). Gato begs for Pimpi's help. On the parking lot, Konnan and the Harts find the car of Joaquin Roldan, and Konnan claims to have a great idea. Marvin has also returned to Mexico, and he plans on joining the MPs. Crazy is very happy to have such a reinforcement for the MPs.

4) Hart Foundation 2.0 (Teddy Hart & Jack Evans) w/Nikki vs. Mexican Powers (Crazy Boy & Ricky Marvin)

-First Fall: Marvin and Hart open with some nice chain wrestling and mat moves. Evans and Crazy tag in, for a more physicla contest. The Harts begin the double team moves on the MPs. Marvin kicked out of the Shooting Star Press of Hart. marvin starts the coemback with a Tornado DDT/Enzuigiri combo on both Canadians, and tags Crazy. Crazy does the Reverse STo/DDT combo on both Harts, and......

SIGNAL WAS LOST AND THE MATCH STARTED AGAIN, THEN THE ENTIRE SHOW (WTF?)

Winners: ????

SIGANL RECOVERED

*Pretaped Segment: Pirata claims he is a professional wrestler, and not a pro dancer like Elegido and Alan Stone. Decnnis supports the claims of Piratas, and tells Aerostar he lacks intelligence. Brazo still hates fat people and even says if you see a fat body around them (yes his own, he hasn't looked at a mirror yet?). Brazo makes fun of Porky again, and makes the the hair vs. hair challenge.

5) Pirata Morgan, El Brazo & Decnnis w/Guapito vs. El Elegido, Alan Stone & Aerostar

-First Fall: Awful match. Pirata destroyed Elegido, making him bleed in the process. Guapito joined the match, and got his share of the punishment. The referee also joined the match, and helped the heels. Pirata went to the announce table to sya he's a true legend, and not a dancer like the bleeding Elegido. The heels did excessive punishment, and a lowblow kick, and they didn't get DQed. Brazo tries to slam Aerostar, but gets rolled into a Small Package instead.

Winners: El Elegido, Alan Stone & Aerostar

-Aftermath: Decnnis got mad at Brazo for the loss, while Pirata continued the disection of Elegido, and took his mask off.

*Pretaped Segment: Roldan sends his assistant to ask Konnan about his car, but Konnan claims he doesn't know anything. Zorro just made a new friend: a horse. Konnan tells Zorro he's worsening every day, but Zorro claims he's talking to Enrique Torres , his new friend. Konnan wants Zorro to be focused, and Zorro claims he's feeling better than ever.

6) Cibernetico, La Parka & Superfly vs. Zorro, Kenzo suzuki & Electroshock

-First Fall: Another typicla and awful main event, with the Legion dominating. The highlight of the match, was that Electroshock destroyed Superfly, with several chairshots. Fly was bleeding harder than Cinthia and Elegido. Electro went for a Powerbomb, but Fly reversed it into a Hurricanrana for the three count.

Winners: Cibernetico, La Parka & Superfly

FINAL COMMENTS: Overall, a bad show. I didn't enjoy it at all. So I have three things to talk about:

Regarding the show, it was bad, because the matches didn't deliver like they sometimes do. The Harts/MPs match was the best match easily, but it was cut. By the way, Electro came to the ring wearing a jacket with the face of Lady Apache (CMLL wrestler, and his girl of course). The main events of these show are really boring, and there's nothing new to them. So the Chessman feud should make them better. Two strong feuds here: Electro/Superfly and Elegido/Pirata. We'll see if AAA is smart enough to capitalize on these feuds, or if they will make more crappy matches, instead of the direct mask or hair matches.

Notice, that I've been cutting the amount of play-by-play narration. For me, it's hard to call every match carefully, because this is a three-hour show. I do not have much time to do complete AAA reports anymore, so it's very hard to call these matches. For me, it's easier to call play-by-play for the one-hour CMLL show, than for the three-hour AAA show. Plus, I believe the reports are read because of the translated segments. From now on, I'll only do complete play-by-play for supercards (Verano, Triplemania, etc.)

I also wanted to talk about the controversial macth that took place on Friday at Arena mexico. Yes, Blue Panther vs. Villano V. It's a CMLL match, but this outcome shocked the entire lucha libre world. Panther lost his mask, and nobody saw that coming. But I'll write my thoughts on that one for the upcoming CMLL report.

Feedback is always welcomed at elcidphoenix88_spainful@hotmail.com

Thanks!!!

TemJin's Comments: watching Elegido is gayer than watching the actual gay wrestlers.

WWE RAW Results: 9-22-08

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Keller's complete report). Condensed here to in-ring results only.

1 -- C.M. PUNK vs. CODY RHODES

Cody threw Punk to the floor early. He showed some good cocky facial expressions. Punk then kicked Cody at ringside to try to take control, but Cody came right back throwing Punk head-first into the ringpost. Back in the ring, when Punk almost executed his Go To Sleep out of nowhere, Cody slipped out and rolled out of the ring for a breather. They cut to a break at 6:00.

Cody had control after the break. Punk made a comeback at 11:00 and hit the Go To Sleep for the win.

WINNER: Punk in 12:00.

STAR RATING: ** -- Solid match.

-Afterward, Manu and Ted DiBiase jumped Punk. Kofi Kingston made the save. If someone didn't watch Raw for a year and suddenly tuned in, they wouldn't recognize anyone in this scene.

2 -- SANTINO MARELLA (w/Beth Phoenix) vs. DEUCE

Santino told Deuce before the match that if Batista messes with him, he'll beat him up just like he's about to beat up Fonzie. He then said, "Happy days are over." They wisely didn't book this to last long. Santino won quickly with a sunset flip.

WINNER: Santino in 1:00.

3 -- KANE vs. EVAN BOURNE

Cole called Bourne gusty for standing up for Rey last week. Bourne leapfrogged Kane at the start, then roundkicked him in the shoulder. Kane smiled and shook it off. Bourne dove under Kane and then nailed him with an enzuigiri. Kane said, "Play time is over." Kane then lifted Bourne, but Bourne slipped out and kicked Kane several times.

Kane came back and stomped Bourne into the mat. He went for an elbow, but Bourne moved. Bourne went for a crucifix, but Kane stood his ground and then punched Bourne in the face. Not much crowd heat for Bourne as he showed a ton of grit and speed early. He went for a DDT off the second rope, but Kane blocked it. He went for a big boot, but Bourne moved and knocked Kane over the top rope. He followed with a shooting star press that just grazed Kane. Back in the ring, Bourne hit his top rope double knee dive for a two count at 3:00. Kane caught Bourne mid-air with a right punch. Kane gave Bourne three backbreakers over his knee, then lifted him and slammed him upside down into the corner, then finished him with a running powerslam. Kane chokeslammed Bourne for the win.

WINNER: Kane in 5:00.

STAR RATING: * -- I was worried they'd squash Bourne here, but they gave him more than enough to not lose much in this loss. It's not as if WWE was going to push him as Kane's equal anytime soon, so giving him as much offense as they did was a showcase for what he can do and his potential.

3 -- "GLAMAZON" BETH PHOENIX vs. KELLY KELLY

Santino tripped Kelly coming off the ropes at 2:00. Phoenix charged at Santino, but Kelly ducked and then she schoolgirled Phoenix for the win.

WINNER: Kelly in 2:00.

4 -- JOHN MORRISON & THE MIZ vs. CRYME TYME

The extent to which ECW wrestlers are appearing on Raw is just odd right now. Lawler said: "Shad told me he started out as an unwanted child, and now he's wanted in ten states." We got a lot of those one-liners last week from Lawler, and this is the first of the show this week. Cole pushed how the Cryme Tyme and Miz & Morrison shows are the most viewed on WWE.com and how seriously the two teams take them. Lawler said: "Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase followed in their fathers' footsteps. Cryme Tyme are following in their fathers' fingerprints." When Shad cleared the ring of both heels and tossed J.T.G. onto them, they cut to a break. Cole said the "Bling Bling Brothers are on a roll" and asked if they could keep it up after the break.

Morrison had Shad tied up on the mat after the break. Cole and Lawler talked more about this being the 800th episode. Shad made a big comeback 8:00. Shad and J.T.G. doubled on Miz, but Morrison yanked Miz out of the ring and then Morrison rolled up Shad for a surprise near fall. Miz distracted the ref as Morrison hit Shad with a kick. Miz then scored the pin. Lawler said ECW just got one up on Raw with that outcome.

WINNERS: Miz & Morrison in 11:00.

STAR RATING: *1/2

5 -- CHRIS JERICHO & LANCE CADE & JBL vs. BATISTA & SHAWN MICHAELS

Jericho's manipulating of Adamle into making this three-on-two was clever and well-done. Giving away this match would normally be seen as too much, especially given the intensity of the Jericho-Michaels feud and how this could water down the novelty of those two being in the same match, but after last week's rating for Raw, it's understandable. What's odd is the lack of any promo from Michaels or Batista to hype this match and communicate to fans what they believed was at stake for them in this one. Michaels opened against Cade. When Michaels moved toward Jericho, Jericho jumped to the floor. JBL then surprised Michaels with a clothesline. Jericho then charged after Michaels once he was down and took control.

JBL tagged in and continued to beat on Michaels. A minute later Cade tagged in against Michaels. JBL took a cheap shot at Batista. Batista tried to enter the ring, which gave Jericho a chance to give Michaels a cheap shot at 5:00. JBL went for a fallaway slam, but Michaels countered and took JBL down. Both men ended up on their backs on the mat. Batista wanted in for the first time all match. JBL tagged in Jericho first, but then Michaels hot-tagged Batista. Baitsta exploded with an attack on Jericho. Batista powerslammed Jericho, then tagged in Michaels who hit a top rope elbow. Michaels showed great fire as only he can. Then he signaled for Sweet Chin Music. Jericho ducked and went for a Walls of Jericho. Michaels escaped. Jericho went for a Code Breaker. Michaels blocked it and went for a pin. JBL broke it up. Batista made the save. JBL backdropped Batista over the top ropeBatista got up and speared JBL at ringside. Jericho gave Michaels a running bulldog from behind. He went for a Lionsault, but Michaels moved. Jericho tagged in Cade. Michaels immediately hit Cade with a flying forearm. Then he nipped up and set up a superkick toward Jericho. Jericho slipped out of the ring and Cade hit Michaels quickly and suddenly with a sitout powerbomb for the pin.

WINNER: Cade & Jericho & JBL in 9:00.

STAR RATING: **1/2 -- Good tag match. They hit all the big spots well. The Cade pin on Michaels is a nice boost for him no matter what the circumstances.

FINAL THOUGHTS: Solid episode. Not earth-shattering, but the inclusion of Shane, the fun dynamic between Shane and Adamle, a noteworthy finish to the main event tag, a good dose of Santino, and a good opening segment all made for a watchable, inoffensive show. Credit WWE for not hotshotting too much after the ratings recently, but going ahead in trying to continue to push some younger stars without blinking (not that there's any viable alternative approach).

ECW on Sci-Fi Results: 9-23-08

Results courtesy of ProWrestling.net (direct link to Powell's complete results). Condensed to in-ring results only.

1. Finlay (w/Hornswoggle) vs. Bam Neely in 3:50. A brawling style match. Finlay hit a swinging neckbreaker at 3:00. He wet up to the second rope for some reason, but Neely caught him and locked him in the Boston Crab. Horny entered the ring and distracted Neely. Meanwhile, Finlay picked up the shillelagh used it as a weapon behind the ref's back and got the pin...

Powell's POV: They really need to come up with a new finish for Finlay matches.

2. Maryse defeated Michelle McCool in a non-title match in 3:30. Striker said young women everywhere can look up to McCool because she knows grappling moves. No, really. He forgot to tell us that she knows Undertaker and everything. She's like a female Triple H or something. Late in the match, Maryse caught Michelle up top and then played to the crowd before DDT'ing her for the win...

Powell's POV: Don't get me wrong, I dig Michelle and I'm impressed by how quickly she's improved, but Striker was laying it on really thick. By the way, the announcers did a nice job of pointing out that Maryse was wasting too much time before she hit her finisher. I'm sure she heard about that backstage.

3. Mike Knox squashed Chase Stevens in 1:40. After Knox plowed through Stevens and headed toward the back, Jack Swagger's music played and he past Knox on the stage with a smile on his face. Swagger attacked Stevens. Tommy Dreamer ran out for the save. Knox came back to the ring and distracted Dreamer. Swagger hit his finisher on Dreamer and then smiled for the camera...

Powell's POV: Typical squash match to get Knox back on track after some of this recent losses. The live crowd responded to Knox's power moves and counted along with the three count.

4. The Miz fought John Morrison to a double in-ring countout in 11:30. Striker wondered aloud whether Miz or Morrison would become the Art Garfunkel of their team. After some back and forth action, Morrison dove at Miz near the ropes and they tumbled to ringside. Highlights aired from during the break of Morrison taking a big tumble to ringside.

Back live, the back and forth battle continued as the program reminder told viewers about the time change next week. Striker said the fans wouldn't let either wrestler forget if they lost to their tag team partner. The tension between the two teammates grew more intense as the match went on and they exchanged more punches and kicks down the stretch.

At 10:45, both men were on the top rope in one of the corners. Miz hooked Morrison's head with his legs and jumped. The both tumbled awkwardly to the mat and neither wrestler made it to his feet before the referee's 10 count.

After the match, Ricky Ortiz ran out and splashed Miz. Morrison tried to attack him, but Ortiz fought off with a shoulder block and hit that big dorky splash of his. Ricky waved the silly rally towel at ringside and gave one of his stupid rags to a blond woman at ringside...

Powell's POV: It had to be obvious to everyone when the top of the hour rolled around that they weren't going to see a legitimate match between Ortiz and the winner of Miz vs. Morrison. The team members worked a good match and traded offense. The live crowd didn't really choose sides, nor did the wrestlers seem to be interested in leading them one way or the other.

TNA Impact! Results: 9-25-08

Results courtesy of ProWrestling.net (direct link to Twilling's complete report). Condensed here to in-ring results only.

1. Matt Morgan and Abyss defeated The Rock 'N Rave Infection (with Christy Hemme) in 2:54. Morgan tagged in and entered the ring with an impressive high crossbody on Rock. He then hit a dropkick. Abyss hit the Blackhole slam on Rock and the Shock Treatment on Rave. Morgan tagged in and hit the Hellevator for the win...

Team 3D came out to the stage. Brother Devon took the stick tonight and told Abyss and Morgan that their loss to them at No Surrender was a fluke. Devon ran down each company by name and how many times they were tag team champions in each of those companies. Ray chimed in with "And that is great, that is great." He is hilarious. Ray took the mic and plugged their match at Bound for Glory, which is now a Monster's Ball match...

Twill's Two Cents: I am starting to like Morgan and Abyss as a team and Morgan looked much better tonight in the ring. Kudos to TNA for making a non-title tag team match interesting and important.

2. Awesome Kong (with Raisha Saeed) defeated Mercedes Steele in 1:46. Saeed was announced but did not come out with Kong. Steele was explained as someone looking for a contract. Steele kept screaming like a little bitch. Saeed came down the aisle with chairs. Kong dominated before hitting the Awesome Bomb for the win...

After the match, Saeed came in with the chairs and set one up for an Awesome Bomb. All of a sudden, Raisha Saeed hit Kong with two chairshots. She then took off her mask and it was Roxxi the entire time. The real Raisha Saeed came out the stage tied up with rope. Referees separated Roxxi from Kong...

Twill's Two Cents: Great segment. I love Kong and I love Roxxi's push as someone who may be hardcore enough to beat her. Now, if we could just get rid of Taylor Wilde, we would be in great shape.

3. Beer Money and Jacqueline defeated LAX and Hector Guerrero in 9:41. Hector hit the three amigos suplexes on Storm. Jacqueline tagged and forced Hector to chase her up the ramp as the show went to commercial...

Everyone was back coming back from commercial. With the referee distracted, Roode smacked Hernandez in the head with Storm's football helmet and scored the pinfall...

Twill's Two Cents: At least Hector still has his announcing gig.

4. Sheik Abdul Bashir defeated Samoa Joe by disqualification in a non-title match in 4:25. Bashir grounded Joe early and worked on his leg. He scored a few nearfalls while he had an ankle lock applied. Bashir locked in a single leg Boston Crab and Joe was able to get to the ropes. Sheik continued on the offensive before Joe hit a modified Rock Bottom from the corner. He then hit the Muscle Buster for the win...

After the match, Joe called out Sting. He then applied the rear naked choke on Bashir and the referee reversed his decision...

Twill's Two Cents: I enjoyed the match. Bashir was given some solid offense and I love watching Joe work, if even for a few minutes.

5. Booker T (with Sharmell) defeated AJ Styles in 10:43. The match started at a very quick pace before the show went to commercial. Christian Cage came out and watched from the ramp...

Booker had the advantage on Styles coming back from commercial. During the break, Styles landed a beautiful dropkick on Booker. Booker nearly scored the submission victory but Styles came back. He hit the springboard flying forearm for the two count. He followed that up with the Pele kick for another nearfall.

Earl Hebner took the obligatory ref bump at the ten minute mark. Sharmell came in to hit Styles with the briefcase but Christian stopped her and took the briefcase away. Styles stood up and thought Christian was going to hit him. Booker knocked Christian into Styles, grabbed the briefcase and hit Styles with it to score the win. After the match, Christian and AJ argued...

Twill's Two Cents: Well, that went downhill fast. Watch the tape AJ. Everything is cool. This was a disappointing finish to a good match on a good show. This is the typical bullshit they need to move away from.

WWE Smackdown Results: 9-26-08

1. Triple H and Jeff Hardy defeated The Brian Kendrick (with Ezekiel Jackson) and MVP in 13:55. When Hardy made his entrance, Jim Ross said, "Jeff Hardy loves life." Hardy and Triple H traded tags and took turns working on MVP in the opening minutes of the match. Kendrick tagged in and the pace quickened considerably. Triple H closelined MVP over the top rope. He and Hardy both backdropped Kendrick over the top and onto MVP...

The heels were working over Triple H coming back from the break. Hardy tagged in and was able to hit a series of moves on Kendrick. He attempted a Swanton but Jackson pulled his foot out from under him. Hardy tumbled to the mat and Kendrick scored a two count.

Kendrick and MVP exchanged submission holds on Hardy as Triple H looked on. Hardy reversed the fortunes of his team by hitting a Whisper in the Wind. H and MVP received tags at the same time. H cleaned house and tried the Pedigree, but was kicked by Kendrick. Hardy took Kendrick out, MVP missed the Driveby, and Triple H hit the Pedigree on him for the win...

After the match, Hardy grabbed the WWE Title and handed it to Triple H. They raised their hands in victory and shook hands. They both posed for the fans...

Twill's Two Cents: Fantastic television tag team match. All four men worked hard and the tag team booking here was very good.

2. Brie Bella and Maria defeated Victoria and Natalya in 5:07.Maria and Victoria began the match but Natalya and Brie did the brunt of the work. Brie hit some impressive moves and Natalya looked impressive utilizing her power. Brie was thrown to the floor. As she crawled under the ring, her twin sister came out (a little early). She tagged Maria who hit a high crossbody for the win...

Twill's Two Cents: That almost looked like a mistake. I wish the announcers would not have played dumb. The action in the match was pretty good.

3. Vladimir Kozlov vs. The Great Khali (with Ranjin Singh) ended in a no contest in 1:58. Khali knocked Kozlov from the ring. Kozlov pulled Khali from the ring and laid him out. Triple H's music hit and he came out to face Kozlov.

Once Triple H entered the ring, Kozlov retreated to the outside. Khali and Kozlov entered the ring at the same time and Triple H went after both of them. After some moderate success, Khali hit the overhand chop and Kozlov kicked Triple H. Jeff Hardy came out and was promptly laid out. H grabbed the sledgehammer and hit Khali with it. Kozlov backed up the ramp as H challenged him to reenter the ring. Hardy stood behind Triple H. H gave Kozlov a crotch chop...

Twill's Two Cents: They are obviously setting up a tag team match but a win over Khali for Kozlov would have done wonders for him.

4. Chavo Guerrero defeated Jimmy Wang Yang in 4:58. Chavo hit the two of the three amigos and Yang applied a small package for a two count. Chavo won the match with a rolling kick...

The lights went off and on very quickly. Chavo looked scared...

Twill's Two Cents: Fun and forgettable match. Chavo worrying about The Undertaker was the focus.

5. Carlito and Primo Colon defeated Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins to become the WWE Tag Team Champions. Primo hit a deep armdrag and a flying head scissor very early in the match. Carlito and Primo played the face role here. Carlito was worked on by the heel team. Hawkins hit Carlito with several hard kicks to the back followed by a flipping neckbreaker. They fought to the floor...

Primo tagged in and impressed everyone in the building with this high flying offense. Carlito tagged himself in blindly and hit the Backstabber for the win...

Twill's Two Cents: My phone died so I did not have a time on the match. Primo is fun to watch in the ring and Carlito looks rejuvenated.

Big Show, Vickie Guerrero, and Chavo Guerrero came out to the ring. They aired footage of pretty much the entire storyline between these individuals. After the footage, Vickie mocked Taker because he was nowhere to be found. Chavo told Vickie what they were doing was not a good idea.

Twill's Two Cents: I guess Chavo is the only one who has paid attention to Taker over the years.

Show said Taker has lost his nerve and would not save the day tonight. The lights went off and Taker's gong sounded. The lights went back on and Chavo was gone. He then appeared on the Titantron backstage with Undertaker's hand around his throat. Big Show ran backstage as if the buffet table was closing down for the night.

Tazz thought it would be a good idea to leave the broadcast booth and interview Vickie. Taker's gong was heard again and Taker ended up in the ring with Vickie. He put his hand around her neck. He gave her a tombstone piledriver and did his pose amidst the blue lights...

Twill's Two Cents: The Undertaker is the only guy who can still pull off this crap.

AAA on Galavision TV Report

By: Xavier Hernandez
Show aired on: 09/27/2008

The announcers welcome us to the show from Monterrey, and they show the usual summary video from last week's show. for this show, more Mini Tournament action, a rematch between Aerostar and Jack Evans, and the Hell Brothers team up with Silver King to take on the Legion.

1) AAA Mini Championship (Qualifying Match #9)
Mini Abismo Negro & Atomic Boy

-First Fall: Abismo dominates the match with powerhouse moves. Atomic makes the comeback, and even hits a suicide dive on Abismo. Abismo locks an Inverted Leglock, and Atomic submits.

Winner: Mini Abismo Negro

*Promo Video: This one focuses on the broken relationship between Fabi Apache and Billy Boy. The Morenos seemed to add a different flavor to the feud, but the main problem is Billy, so it's the same crap all over again. This also hypes the match at Verano de Escandalo.

2) Fabi Apache & Sexy Star vs. Cinthia Moreno & La Diabolica

-First Fall: The heels start the early double team attack. Fabi manages to make a short comeback, but Cinthia assaults her again. Sexy aids her partner, but Fabi accidentally dropkicks her. Fabi locks La Tapatia on Cinthia, while Sexy pins Diabolica with a fast School Girl.

Winners: Fabi Apache & Sexy Star

*Noti AAA:
-Looks like VdE will be next week. Matches are: Ciber/Chessman, Tag Titles in a ladder match (the usual teams are involved), the Mini's Title will be on the line, and the Mixed Tag Titles involving the Apaches and the Morenos.
-Hype on Electro's excessive assaults on Superfly, during last week's show.
-The feud between Vampiro and Mesias isn't over, and it will continue at VdE
-Hype for the Mini's match, and they claim they're the best in Mexico (if you don't count the CMLL Minis, then it is true)
-Octagon and Pirata Morgan visited Spain.
-It's official, there will be another "Antonio Pena Memorial Show" for next month.

*Pretaped Segment: Billy is talking by cell phone with someone. He's thanking that person for giving him the necessary support. Seems like he's talking to a girl, but who could it be?

3) Poder del Norte (Tito Santana, Tigre Cota & Rio Bravo) vs. Billy Boy, El Angel & Superfly

-First Fall: The Northern Power begins the early triple team attack on every tecnico. Billy begins to use quick aerial moves to start the comeback. Billy does a suicide dive on Santana, and Fly does his Cartwheel Moonsault on Cota. Angel closes with the Asai Moonsault on Bravo. In the ring, Fly pins Cota with the German Suplex.

Winners: Billy Boy, El Angel & Superfly

*Pretaped Segment: Angel and Fly cut a promo, and they bow to finish the Legion. Fly wants Electro, and Aerostar wants to finish Evans. Then we go to the "Golden Wings" Tournament, to see how Aerostar defeated Evans. Now Evans is really pissed off, and wants his rematch no matter what. (Evans is still cutting very hard promos in English)

4) Golden Wings Tournament (Rematch)
Jack Evans (w/Teddy Hart) vs. Aerostar (w/Superfly)

-First Fall: This match is worth calling. Both men start with technical holds, unusual for high flyers. Aerostar sends Evans to ringside with a huge dropkick. Evans returns, and starts using hard kicks on Aerostar. Evans grabs a bottle of water, and spits it on Aerostar's face. Evans misses an acrobatic elbow, and lands outside the ring. Aerostar capitalizes to hit the Drowzy Dive on Evans. Aerostar hits a botched 450 Splash on Evans. Now Evans hits the 630 Senton, but Aerostar lifts his knees. Aerostar climbs the top, but Hart pulls his feet. Evans tries a Superplex, but Aerostar turns it into a DEVASTATING top rope Canadian Destroyer. Aerostar covers, but Electroshock attacks Aero and Fly. This causes the DQ.

Winner: Aerostar

-Aftermath: The Hart Foundation and Electro destroy the tecnicos. Electro is ruthless with his attacks on Fly.

*Pretaped Segment: Gato still wants the fans to write to a given e-mail, to send support for the depressed Porky. Mesias blames his guys, because Vampiro is still around. Ozz and Scoria are tired of the insults of Mesias, and they are sick of doing Mesias' dirty work for him. Mesias tells his guys they will continue to work for him, whether they like it or not. Elegido cuts a promo, and bows to finish Pirata Morgan. Elegido now focuses on La Secta, and along with Mascara Divina and Vampiro, they will finish La Secta.

5) Mesias, Dark Ozz & Dark Scoria vs. Vampiro, El Elegido & Mascara Divina

-First Fall: The heels start the early triple team attack, and Mesias goes after Vampiro. Mesias brings a chair to punish Vampiro. Vampiro starts the comeback with clotheslines and Big Boots. The masked tecnicos go after the Secta guys, while Vampiro brawls with Mesias at ringside. Divina does the suicide dive on Scoria, while Vampiro and Mesias battle in the crowd. In the ring, Ozz uses a Swinging Bottom to pin Elegido.

Winners: Mesias, Dark Ozz & Dark Scoria

-Aftermath: The brawl continues, and the security staff split both Mesias and Vampiro.

*Pretaped Segment: Hype to the angle of Konnan and Roldan's car. Silver King cuts another good promo. He says the Legion is done, because the King has joined the army. Long live Silver King!! Inside the locker room, Electroshock and Hart cut promos, and they bow to finish Fly, Parka, and the Hell Brother. Zorro comes out of nowhere, and he's still acting in a weird way. Zorro claims he's the only leader around, and promises tonight will be a good day. On the other hand, Ciber and Chessman are talking, and Ciber is very happy to be reunited with Chessman. Ciber leaves, but Chessman keeps smiling.

6) Cibernetico, Chessman & Silver King vs. Zorro, Electroshock & Teddy Hart (w/Nikki)

-First Fall: What else do you expect from the main events of this show? Typical Legion match, with the early triple team attack. Teddy Hart does an amazing Moonsault on Chessman, who was outside. The heels begin to target the knees of Cibernetico. Chessman counters the Monkey Flip of Electro into a huge Superkick, and the comeback begins. Mesias arrives to the ring with chair in hand, but Chessman takes him down. Chessman tries to powerbomb Mesias, but Cibernetico stops him. Chessman spits red mist on Ciber, and tries to powerbomb him. Silver is fouled by Chessman, and Mesias saves Ciber by attacking Chessman. Chessman has officially snapped and attacks Ciber. Chessman let the Legion pin him.

Winners: Zorro, Electroshock & Teddy Hart

-Aftermath: Chessman goes after Ciber and Mesias, but the Secta attacks him. Chessman gets rid of the Secta, and continues to attack Cibernetico. The Secta guys try to help Mesias and Ciber, but both refuse their help. Both Ciber and Mesias stare each other.

FINAL COMMENTS: Overall, and good show. The main event sucked as usual, but the angle they did was very good. We're talking about a huge feud that so far is mixing Cibernetico, Chessman, Mesias and the Secta guys. Don't like to spoil things, so you will have to wait for Verano de Escandalo, which will air in a couple of weeks.

Feedback is always welcomed at elcidphoenix88_spainful@hotmail.com

Thanks!!!

TemJin's Comments:
AAA seems to have the worst production staff I've ever seen a super-legit wrestling company's show have. For fuck's sake, stop cutting to stock footage of the crowd during a match! :shame:

WWE RAW Results: 9-29-08

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's complete report). Condensed here to in-ring results plus the conclusion of the show.

1 -- BATISTA vs. IC champion SANTINO MARELLA (w/Women's champ Beth Phoenix)

Batista quickly smashed Santino with a forearm smash before warming up for the Batista bomb. Batista nailed the finisher with an eye on Beth, then Batista made the cover for the quick win. Afterward, Beth hopped onto the apron to voice her displeasure with Batista's work in the ring. Suddenly, JBL snuck into the ring from behind and knocked a few brain cells with the Clothesline from Hell on Batista. JBL stared down at Batista's fallen body, then he slowly walked out of the ring. JBL looks like he's lost a little weight and appears to be in better shape than I last remember.

WINNER: Batista in 1:00. Quick, effective opening match. Santino is expected to talk and get his rear end handed to him, so that was fine. JBL with a nice set-up for No Mercy with Batista seeking revenge. (n/a)

2 -- JTG (w/Shad Gaspar) vs. THE MIZ (w/John Morrison)

Miz was his usual annoying self early on with some mockery of JTG in between working him over on the mat. Morrison then tried to provide a distraction at 3:00, but Shad knocked him off the apron. Meanwhile, Miz caught JTG in the ring with the Reality Check high knee and neckbreaker combo for the pin and the win with Shad too late re-entering the ring to make the save. Miz and Morrison had the final word over Cryme Tyme tonight.

WINNERS: Miz & Morrison in 3:00. Fine little tag team rivalry brewing on the undercard. Too bad they're on separate brands to continue muddying the brand split. But, at least there's focus on the tag division. Gotta take it however it comes. (1/2*)

3 -- JAMIE NOBLE & MICKIE JAMES vs. PAUL BURCHILL & KATIE LEA

Noble started things off to set up a tag to Mickie, who was quickly tripped up by Burchill behind the ref's back. Katie then worked over Mickie while Regal and Layla watched with interest from the stage. Noble eventually took a tag and slammed Burchill with a rolling side suplex before going up top for a missile dropkick. Noble made a cover, but Katie broke up the pin. Mickie then nailed Katie with a top rope splash before flinging her over the top rope to the floor. Burchill tried to make a fiery comeback, but Noble snapped off a Northern Lights suplex into the Noble armbar. Burchill quickly tapped out, giving Mickie and Noble the win. Regal simply stood up and fixed his gaze on the ring where Noble and Mickie celebrated.

WINNERS: Mickie & Noble in 4:00. Good, high-energy match. I like the development of this storyline after Layla dumped Noble for Regal. We'll see where it leads. (*)

4 -- C.M. PUNK & REY MYSTERIO & EVAN BOURNE & KOFI KINGSTON vs. KANE & MANU & World tag team champions CODY RHODES & TED DIBIASE, JR.

The pace quickly picked up when Rey and Bourne knocked Manu to the floor and Bourne went flying over the top rope with a splash onto Manu. Punk and Kofi then hit simultaneous dives onto Cody and Teddy on the floor. On the other side of the floor, Rey followed with a Sentaun splash onto Kane. Crowd fired up. Babyfaces get their shine. Cut to a break.

Back from break, the heels were taking turns working over Bourne in their corner. Punk then took a tag at 6:00 and flew off the top rope with a springboard clothesline onto Manu. His advantage was short-lived, though, as Manu took out Punk's legs from behind to set up another round of the heels working over the opposition.

At the top of the second hour, the heels continued to work over Punk's left leg. Fans tried to rally with a C-M-Punk chant as the babyfaces sought a tag. Punk finally escaped with an enziguiri on Kane, but Kane kicked Rey off the apron to prevent a hot tag. And more isolation of Punk in the heel corner. As usual, Cody lost the advantage and Kofi took the big hot tag to work over Cody and knock opponents off the apron. Kofi did a big march across the ropes before nailing the boom-boom leg drop on Cody for a two count.

The action broke down momentarily, then Kane accepted a tag. He didn't see Rey Mysterio, though, and Rey dropkicked Kane from behind. Kofi then wanted a big splash in the corner, but Kane caught Kofi in mid-air with a chokeslam grip. Crowd went from a big cheer to a big oooh as Kane nailed the chokeslam on Kofi in center ring. Kane made the cover for the win. Post-match: Rey and Kane locked eyes to build tension for No Mercy.

WINNERS: Team Kane in 13:00. Good match. Hit a lull for a few minutes, but they used everyone pretty well during the match. Kane as the dominating, yet intelligent monster is exactly how he should be presented. (**)

5 -- KELLY KELLY & CANDICE MICHELLE vs. Women's champion BETH PHOENIX & JILLIAN HALL

Candice and Beth started things off to create tension for their Women's Title match at No Mercy. Michelle quickly kicked Beth in the leg before tagging out to Kelly. Candice came back in, then Jillian took advantage and worked her over for a few minutes. Crowd became restless, then Kelly and Beth took tags. Kelly snapped off a flying head scissors, but Beth came back with a running clothesline. Candice broke up the pin attempt, then Jillian yanked Candice to the floor. Kelly tried to roll up Beth from behind, but Beth wasn't going to let it happen two weeks in a row, so she rolled through into a huge front slam for the decisive pin and the win. Afterward, Candice helped Kelly recover while staring down Beth to set up Sunday.

WINNERS: Beth & Jillian in 4:00. Went long and lost the crowd about half-way through. Fine result to set up Sunday, which fit the theme of tonight's show. (1/2*)

6 -- GREAT CHARLI (w/Runjan Singh) vs. DEUCE

Charli wobbled into landing the big chop early on, but Deuce had enough and landed a running slam. Deuce wanted a big splash, but Charli got a boot up. Charli then spun to his feet and dropped the gimp walk to fire up with a flurry of offense. Charli came off the top with a big splash and made the cover for the win.

Post-match: The real Great Khali came out on stage with Singh. Charli did Khali's mannerisms in tribute to Khali, who Lawler said he hopes has a sense of humor. Khali stepped into the ring with a big smile on his face while Charli clapped it up. Singh handled the introductions, then Charli raised his arms in front of Khali, who smiled it up. Charli extended his hand for a shake, but Khali smashed him with a big chop to the head. Khali had another good laugh at that development. Is that Penick with the "Fire Coach Childress" sign?

WINNER: Well, it gives Haas something to do. Not necessarily going anywhere right now, but that was a fine filler segment to show that Khali has some personality. (n/a)

7 -- World Hvt. champion CHRIS JERICHO & LANCE CADE vs. SHAWN MICHAELS & WWE champion TRIPLE H

Jericho and Hunter squared off to preview the Night of Champions free TV deal on Smackdown this Friday night. Jericho quickly went for the Walls of Jericho, but Hunter easily flung him aside. Cade wanted a piece of Hunter, but Hunter blocked a suplex with a suplex of his own. Michaels and Jericho played cat and mouse for a second, then Michaels found himself back in the ring to accept a big boot from Cade. Jericho and Cade then worked over Michaels in their corner as Hunter tried to rally the crowd. Jericho wanted a Lionsault, but Michaels moved in time.

Cade took a tag, then Hunter took a hot tag. He worked over Cade before knocking Jericho off the apron to the floor. Cade then walked into a spinebuster and Hunter called for the end. Hunter measured Cade for the Pedigree, but Jericho smashed Hunter with the codebreaker. Cade then delivered a clothesline on Michaels, who was knocked out. The ref called for a DQ when Michaels and Cade continued the double-team assault.

WINNERS: DX via DQ in 5:00. Short main event to set up the post-match, which was fine so they didn't give away too much in the ring bell-to-bell before a PPV. (*)

Post-match: Jericho brought a ladder into the ring to give Michaels additional punishment, but the crowd roared as Hunter snuck back into the ring with a sledgehammer in hand. Jericho bailed, then Hunter gave Cade a quick jab to the gut. Michaels tuned up the band and delivered the superkick, then Hunter finished him off with the Pedigree as Jericho could only shake his head in disbelief. Hunter then set up the ladder in the corner and Michaels climbed to the top. Michaels gave Jericho a crotch chop from the top of the ladder, then he crashed down onto Cade with a big splash. Michaels flopped around the ring and winced in pain, then collected himself on the bottom rope to stare down Jericho, who stared back at him. Hunter helped Michaels up, then DX stared back at Jericho to close the show with the announcers plugging everything happening this week.

ECW on Sci-Fi Results: 9-30-08

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's complete report). Report condensed here...

1 -- JACK SWAGGER vs. LENNY LANE

Are you kidding? We have a Lenny Lane sighting? Lane apparently channeling Jeff Jarrett in the facial hair department. Grisham earned points with Ross for referencing Oklahoma as the number one team in college football, and Swagger hopes to be tops in ECW eventually. Grisham complimented himself on the segue. Swagger quickly delivered a gutwrench powerbomb for the all-american victory. Afterward, Swagger wanted to deliver a post-match message, but Tommy Dreamer made the save for Lane. Swagger just smiled and left the ring.

WINNER: Swagger in 1:00. Swagger has the makings of a great heel character with the annoying smile and dominating size. Good addition to the roster. (n/a)

2 -- TOMMY DREAMER vs. MIKE KNOX

Back from break, we have Dreamer in action against Knox, whose beard has apparently doubled in length since I last saw it two weeks ago. That man needs a beard trimmer. Grisham said Knox's workout regiment out in the Arizona desert is unknown. It was working here with Knox dominating Dreamer before settling in a good ole fashioned reverse chinlock on the mat. Thank goodness for Matt Striker. How I have missed thee, as he went into a full explanation of why wrestlers utilize a chinlock. I hope he calls every Randy Orton match from here on. Dreamer eventually slipped out of the chinlock and made a brief comeback, but he found the ringpost when Knox moved out of the corner. Ref checked on Dreamer, then Knox nailed the Knox Out for the pin and the win.

WINNER: Knox in 4:00. Fairly decent match. Knox picks up the predictable victory over the veteran enhancement talent on ECW. (1/2*)

Post-match: Jack Swagger returned to the ring after the victory for Knox and he picked up Dreamer. Swagger decided to give Dreamer a gutwrench suplex to add insult to injury on Dreamer. Swagger then did a victory dance before smiling down at Dreamer's lifeless body. Swagger declared his awesomeness on the way to the back after inflicting damage.

3 -- THE MIZ & JOHN MORRISON & MARK HENRY (w/Tony Atlas) vs. ECW champion MATT HARDY & EVAN BOURNE & RICKY ORTIZ

Quick action to start things off here. Bourne took a hot tag and he wanted a move off the ropes, but Miz kneed him in the back with the ref's back turned to set up the heel attack on Bourne. Grisham accused them of cheating, but Striker said they were just being resourceful. Matt Striker: "You run out of toilet paper and you do a handstand in the shower." I am at a loss for words to describe Striker's greatness. Hardy took a hot tag at 5:00 to a nice crowd reaction, then he cleaned house on the heels while Henry barked orders to Miz and Morrison. Hardy knocked M&M around, then landed a double clothesline that cleared them from the ring. Henry aggressively stepped into the ring to take on all three babyfaces, but then he slowly backed up to his corner to take a raincheck.

Back from break, Hardy was working over Morrison in the ring. Ortiz then accepted a tag to continue working over Morrison. Bourne worked over Morrison to continue the break-from-the-norm isolation of a heel by the babyfaces. However, Ortiz lost control at 8:00 and Henry took a tag to crunch Ortiz. Poor guy was knocked around for a few moments before the heels started to work over Ortiz in their corner. Ortiz then fought out of a mat hold on Morrison and powered into the electric chair, but he couldn't make a tag.

The heels went back to work, but Ortiz escaped and Bourne took a tag to start firing off his aerial assault much to the crowd's delight. The action then broke down with Hardy and Ortiz ending up on the floor. Bourne and Henry were all alone in the ring, then Henry turned an aerial move into World's Strongest Slam for the decisive pin and the win. Afterward, Henry and Hardy had a stare down while Grisham asked whether Hardy even stands a chance on Sunday.

WINNERS: Team Henry in 17:00. A bit slow at times, but enough athleticism to keep viewers interested for most of the match. Henry picking up the victory was the right way to go to set-up Hardy vs. Henry, so that was fine. Bourne had enough offense to maintain credibility despite the loss. Being in the TV main even helped out as well. (**)

TNA Impact! Results: 10-2-08

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's complete report). Condensed here as always ;)

1 -- ANGELINA LOVE (w/Velvet Sky and Kute Kip) vs. ODB

Mike Tenay quickly plugged Kurt Angle's negative interview with the U.K. Sun last week. Don West referenced "those comments," as if we have a frame of reference for what anyone is talking about. Again, gearing the broadcast to an Internet crowd is going to keep the show at a 1.0-1.2 rating until the end of time. West said Jeff Jarrett was livid with the comments. Predictable finish with Kute running interference on the ref, then Velvet spewing liquid courage in ODB's eyes. Angelina then hit the Lights Out finisher for the win.

WINNER: Angelina in 4:00. The problem isn't the predictable interference customary for every TNA TV match, but the fact that ODB taking a foreign substance in the eyes should be made a huge deal worthy of a few weeks of selling an eye injury. Unfortunately, that won't happen, so it's a finish that means nothing that no one will remember. (1/2*)

2 -- CHRIS SABIN & ALEX SHELLEY vs. LAX (HOMICIDE & HERNANDEZ)

Hernandez showed off his strength early on in this match while Tenay and West plugged a giant Monster's Ball tag match at the PPV. Machineguns then took control at 2:00 when Sabin landed a dive onto Homicide on the floor. Back in the ring, Guns double-teamed Homicide with some rapid-fire combo moves.

The action broke down in typical TNA tag team fashion, then Homicide dropped Shelley with the Gringo Cutter out of the corner. Hernandez wanted a big dive to the floor, but Sabin caught him with a superkick. Sabin tried to follow with a cross-body splash, but Hernandez caught him in mid-air for a sit-down powerbomb. Hernandez made the subsequent pin for the win.

WINNERS: LAX in 5:00. Good showcase for Hernandez, who should be main eventing PPVs as a singles wrestler next year. (*1/2)

3 -- X Division champion SHEIK ABDUL BASHIR vs. JIMMY RAVE (w/Hemme and Rock) vs. ERIC YOUNG -- X Division Title match

Bashir finished off Young with a spike DDT, then he stared at ref Shane to instruct him to make the three count. Shane made the three count, then Sheik demanded that Shane raise his arm in victory. They had a face-to-face stare down and Sheik feigned a punch, but he pulled back and laughed. Shane was ready to fight, but Sheik stepped out of the ring, satisfied with the win.

WINNER: Sheik in 2:00. Is a ref the #1 contender to the X Division Title? Wow. What's happened to this division? (1/2*)

4 -- A.J. STYLES & CHRISTIAN CAGE & JAY LETHAL vs. TEAM 3D (BROTHER RAY & BROTHER DEVON) & BOOKER T (w/Sharmell and briefcase)

Right at the top of the second hour, we're starting with some wrestling instead of a commercial break. Nice adjustment. Oops, spoke too soon. A minute into the match, they cut to break.

Four minutes later, they returned from break with Tenay hyping Mick Foley as a renaissance man in pro wrestling. In the ring, the babyface trio was working over Booker. Lethal then found himself too far away from home and Team 3D got him from behind to set up the attack on Lethal. Booker scored a nearfall on a leg strike, then 3D started working over Lethal in the corner. Christian eventually took the hot tag and the action broke down. Ray landed a big body drop on Christian, then Lethal, then Styles, who apparently didn't pay attention the first two times. Styles and Lethal then quickly returned the favor and Christian hit a top rope splash, but Ray kicked out.

Afterward, Booker smashed Lethal with the briefcase while Styles took out Devon on the floor. Booker then tagged himself into the match and Christian rolled him up, but the ref was distracted by Ray. Styles tried to nail Ray with a springboard smash, but Ray moved and Styles butted heads with Christian. Booker then rolled up the KO'ed Christian for the win. Afterward, Styles helped Christian to his feet with a consoling hug, but Christian didn't really want any part of that. No blows.

WINNERS: Team Booker in 11:00. Fine match. About what you would expect with another miscommunication between Styles and Christian to continue building tension in the latest chapter of their on-again, off-again relationship. (*3/4)

5 -- ANGELINA LOVE & VELVET SKY (w/Kute Kip) vs. ODB & RHAKA KHAN

ODB took a pounding early on, then Rhaka tagged in and cleaned house. She did her vampire-like rolling-of-the-tongue for the hard camera, and Kip had enough. He stormed into the ring to confront Rhaka, but the ref sent Kip away to the corner. Angelina and Velvet then took advantage of the distraction to go back to work on ODB. Rhaka took another hot tag and smashed the heels with high kicks before delivering a sweeping leg drop on Velvet for the pin and the win.

Afterward, ODB was quite pleased with her selection of partner. Kip wanted to have a word about that, which allowed Velvet and Angelina to sneak in the back door and attack the winners. However, Rhino made the quick entry into the ring to clear Kip and send the Beautiful People packing. Looks like we have a six-person tag in the future.

WINNERS: Team ODB in 5:00. Well, Rhaka was pretty impressive here based on how she was positioned as the largest competitor in the match. There's something not quite right with her character, but that's part of the intrigue as well. Concerning Rhino, at least he has a role these days. (*)

Conclusion of show...
Impact Zone: Some really generic TNA theme music hit, then Mick Foley came to the ring dressed in black. Tenay listed all of Foley's accolades as a wrestler, author, actor, and commentator. Tenay asked what issues Foley will address on Impact. Foley played to the crowd for a while, then he said it's an honor to stand in the same ring ... where a few short minutes ago, Kute Kip just stood. "Absolute honor!" he said. Foley said it's obviously one of the greatest nights of his career. He thanked people who just tuned in from the VP debate. Admitting that the previous 110 minutes of this show wasn't worth watching probably isn't a great thing. Foley did more talking and thanking in between the "Foley" chants before thanking Vince McMahon for presenting him with so many great opportunities. He switched gears and said McMahon made it easy for him to leave.

Kurt Angle's music interrupted, then Angle stormed the ring. Foley cut off Angle and said he told McMahon thanks, but no thanks. Angle said he's sorry to busy his party, but Jeff Jarrett wants to embarrass him with an interview he did about McMahon two years ago. Angle said he has a problem with Foley being called the greatest acquisition in TNA history. He said Jarrett is full of (bleep) and so are the fans for buying into Jarrett's crap.

Angle changed gears and said Jarrett was right about a few things that he lost his gold medal, his TNA Title, and his wife. Angle took off his glasses and said he's not the only one who lost his wife. The crowd groaned. Angle then cut a promo on Foley about carrying the company alone for the last two years. Foley shot back that he's not going to listen to Angle take credit for everything guys like Joe and Styles also accomplished. He then explained why he came to TNA.

Foley put over Edge and The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho, even the great Triple H and John Cena. He then got to thinking about Angle because Angle has defeated all of them before. Foley said maybe Jarrett is wrong; that Angle is the greatest acquisition in TNA. He called Angle possibly the greatest performer in wrestling history. What does "performing" have to do with picking up a win or a loss in the context of a wrestling show? A perfect picture of TNA's inferiority complex brewing here with a mess of insider references and attempts to be relevant compared to WWE.

Foley said he needs to sit ringside and see if Angle is really the best. Angle asked if he just wants to sit ringside and call the match, then he can replace Don West. Foley said he in fact did not come to replace West, although West can be a little unbearable at times. Foley said he really needs to get in the ring. Really get close to the action. Really smell the action. Angle paused and unintelligently (on purpose) asked Foley if he wanted to be in his corner. Foley put an arm around his shoulder and laughed, then said that's not the case. He said he's been named the special enforcer for Angle vs. Jarrett. Angle snapped. Foley said it's true; it's damn true. End show.

WWE Smackdown Results: 10-3-08

Results courtesy of ProWrestling.net (direct link to Twilling's complete report). Condensed here to in-ring results only.

1. Batista, Rey Mysterio, Jeff Hardy, and Finlay (with Hornswoggle) defeated MVP, JBL, The Brian Kendrick (with Ezekiel Jackson), and Kane in 15:46. Hurricane Helms appeared on the screen during MVP's entrance. I could not really hear him because there are loads of people at my house right now enjoying my stuff. Finlay got the best of Kendrick as the show went to commercial...

Kendrick was still taking the beating for the heel team coming back from commercial. Jackson closelined Finlay on the floor. JBL tagged in to work on his Wrestlemania opponent. MVP tagged in and Finlay continued to sell the heel offense. Batista received the hot tag and took out everyone with spinebusters.

Batista powerslammed MVP and tagged in Mysterio. Mysterio splashed MVP from Batista's shoulders. Mysterio set both Kendrick and MVP up for a 619. As Mysterio hit the ropes, Kane grabbed his foot and pulled him violently out the floor...

Kane scored a nearfall on Mysterio coming back from commercial. JBL tagged in and mocked Batista while hitting a fallaway slam on Mysterio. MVP and Kendrick enjoyed offensive success on Mysterio as well. All hell broke loose as everyone eliminated each other. Mysterio hit the 619 on MVP and Hardy followed up with the Swanton for the win...

Twill's Two Cents: The match started out very slowly but picked up towards the end. I believed it served its purpose by introducing the new network audience to some of the young stars in WWE.

2. Santino Marella (with Beth Phoenix) defeated Shelton Benjamin in a non-title match in 2:11. Helms popped up during Santino's entrance and said Honky Tonk Man would roll over in his grave but he was not dead. He was just saying. Santino put up the Honk-A-Meter and JR loved it...

3. The Great Khali (with Ranjin Singh) and Mark Henry (with Tony Atlas) defeated Chavo Guerrero in 1:39. Chavo was pissed at Show. I'd be pissed too if I had to carry Henry and Khali. Henry and Khali exchanged tags multiple times. Khali locked in the Khali Vice and the referee called for the bell as Show applauded...

After the match, Show knocked out Chavo with a right cross. Show grabbed a mic and said he would do to Taker what he did to Chavo. Taker's gong struck and the lights went in and out. Show left the ring and Taker appeared in the ring. Both men stared each other down and Taker did his throat slashing gesture...

Twill's Two Cents: This feud should be better than this but honestly, it sucks.

4. C.M. Punk, Carlito, and Primo Colon defeated Ted Dibiase, Cody Rhodes, and Manu in 3:48. The heels gave a pretaped promo about how Raw is the superior brand in WWE. Carlito said he turned the match into a six man tag because he did not want Manu to stand on the floor looking like an idiot. Punk made his entrance.

Primo looked good early and tagged in Punk, who was thrilled to get a piece of Dibiase. Punk scored a two count after the high knee and bulldog combination. After everyone else took care of each other, Punk hit the GTS on Dibiase for the win...

Twill's Two Cents: The action was solid but I would have like to see them work for about ten more minutes.

5. Beth Phoenix defeated Michelle McCool in a non-title match in a lumberjack match in 3:46. I guess no one remembers when Michelle stood up to Beth a couple of months back. Maryse distracted Michelle, allowing Beth to hit her finisher for the win...

Twill's Two Cents: Like the rest of the show, that could have been much better. Beth is above and beyond better than everyone else in the division.

Matt Hardy and Triple H made their ring entrances...

6. Triple H defeated Matt Hardy and Chris Jericho in a non-title match in 12:22. Lance Cade did not accompany Jericho to the ring due to the beating he was given by DX on Monday. JR and Tazz made nice points about Triple H being able help Shawn Michaels against Jericho and Matt Hardy being able to help his brother against Triple H. I guess no one is looking to help Mark Henry.

Triple H and Jericho paired off while Hardy waited on the canvas. After Jericho went down, Hardy went after Triple H. Jericho hit his springboard dropkick on H, but Hardy was taken out as well...

Coming back from commercial, Jericho took the advantage on the faces after countering a Twist of Fate attempt by Hardy. Hardy went to the top, Jericho went up for the superplex, and Triple H came in and hit the powerbomb spot with all three men crashing to the canvas.

H applied a sleeper to Jericho. He broke it up and applied the Walls of Jericho on H. Jericho pulled H back to the middle of the ring after he could not reach the ropes. Hardy interrupted and Jericho turned his attention to him. After Hardy hit a Side Effect on Jericho, H hit the Pedigree for the win...

After the match, Jericho hit the Codebreaker on Triple H. He then threw a ladder into the ring. Jeff Hardy came out to make the save. As he was checking on Matt, Triple H approached Jeff, who promptly hit a Twist of Fate on him. Jeff climbed the ladder to assumingly hit the Swanton on Triple H. However, Vladimir Kozlov hit the ring and Jeff jumped at him instead. Kozlov laid out both Jeff and Triple H and stood triumphantly as the show went off the air...

Twill's Two Cents: Nice match; I enjoyed it and it was obvious that everyone worked hard. Nothing noteworthy came of the result, but the star power was apparent and hopefully it equates into viewers moving over to the new network.

WWE No Mercy PPV Results: 10-5-08

Real-time results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's ongoing report).

1 -- ECW champion MATT HARDY vs. MARK HENRY (w/Tony Atlas)

Tony Chimel handled the formal intros for this one. Another strong reaction for Hardy. Early in the match, Hardy focused his attack on the tree trunk-like legs to take Henry off his feet. Henry came back with a big boot with his good leg, though, before nailing a Yokozuna bonzai bomb from the second rope for a nearfall. Henry then slapped on a bear hug and Hardy fought out with right hands to the ear. Hardy then landed successive elbow strikes from the second rope before pulling off the Twist of Fate for a close nearfall. Hardy wanted to take it home, but Henry blocked and landed a big splash. He couldn't make an immediate cover with pain in his legs, though, and Hardy kicked out before a three count. Henry tried to follow with the World's Strongest Slam, but Hardy slipped out with punches to the injured knee. He was then in perfect position to nail the Twist of Fate for the pin and the win.

WINNER: Hardy in 8:00 to retain the ECW Title. Nice opening match. Hardy gets the legit three count on Henry after a well-put-together match to showcase the top two stars on the ECW brand. Good to see from ECW. (**)

2 -- Women's champion BETH PHOENIX vs. CANDICE MICHELLE -- Women's Title match

Candice quickly jump-started things with an aggressive attach on Beth, so you know this is going short. She busted out a head scissors, but then Beth rammed the previously injured collarbone hard into the ringpost. Beth went to work on the injured area while Santino cheered Beth on with snappy commentary. Candice made her comeback at 3:00 with a spin kick, but it was only good for a two count. Beth came back with a single-arm DDT, then she went up top for some reason, but Candice grabbed the ropes to crotch Beth in the corner. Candice had a pin, but Santino yanked Beth to the floor to save her. After some action on the floor, Candice and Beth returned to the ring where Candice wanted the Unprettier. Unfortunately, Beth countered right into her implant-buster finisher for the pin and the win. Afterward, Santino tried to get some love from Beth, who just wanted to catch her breath after the win.

WINNER: Beth in 4:00 to retain the Women's Title. Fine. They kept it short and to the point with some decent action packed into four minutes. Tension between Beth and Santino should make for good TV going forward. (*)

3 -- REY MYSTERIO vs. KANE

I really liked how this started with Rey building momentum, then Kane luring him into a false sense of security to nail a big boot, clothesline, and clothesline on the outside to cut off three of Rey's flurries. Back in the ring at 5:00, Kane started to build a dominating attack until Rey spun out of a sidewalk slam into a reverse DDT. Nice. Michael Cole called it a swashbuckling move on Rey's part. Lawler said that might have silenced a few of those voices in Kane's head. May 19. Kane then tried to rip off Rey's mask at 8:00, but Rey kicked free and nailed a moonsault. He built momentum with a kick strike and top rope guillotine drop, but he ran into a sidewalk slam for a close call for Kane.

At 10:00, Kane missed in the corner with a big boot, then Rey nailed a 619 through the ropes on Kane's injured leg. Rey knocked Kane to the floor where Kane leaned over to catch his breath and retrieve a chair out of Rey's sight. Rey went up top for a big splash, but Kane smashed him in the face with a clean chair shot. Ref called for a DQ, then Kane smirked and walked away from ringside. Rey was bleeding from the mouth, then Kane laughed at a replay of the finish. Refs checked on Rey, who might have injured his right knee earlier in the match. Audio picked up on Rey saying he couldn't feel his leg.

WINNER: Rey in 11:00 via DQ. Good match. They built a good story here to continue the feud without a decision. Fine finish after two relatively clean finishes to start the show.

WWE No Mercy PPV Results: 10-5-08

Ringside: Cole and Lawler were talking up Cyber Sunday later this month when MVP's music interrupted. MVP demanded undivided attention from the audience to make a statement. He said that if you're the Cleveland Cavaliers, you don't bench LeBron James. And if you're the Dodgers, you don't bench Manny Ramirez. And if you're Smackdown, you don't have a PPV without MVP. Suddenly, Randy Orton's music interrupted and Orton slowly - and I mean slowly - walked to the ring to confront MVP.

Orton said they haven't officially met. Positive crowd reaction for Orton here, with Orton looking like he's put on some weight on in the arms. Orton asked MVP why this happens every week where he's off the card. MVP said it's obvious when Vickie is an incompetent GM. Orton said every time MVP is given the ball, he drops it. MVP said he's not on Raw and he doesn't work for Mike Adamle, so there are no repurcessions for him knocking Orton right now. He said everyone in the Raw locker room would love him for doing that, too.

After MVP and Orton had a face-to-face discussion, the Priceless theme music interrupted and out walked Cody, Teddy, and Manu. Cody talked first about this being part of Orton's MO to agitate people without any substance. After being interrupted by some "boring" chants, Cody said Orton is just the guy who hangs out at high school coasting on reputation because that's all he has. Manu stepped in and said Orton only picks up the scraps. Orton said that when he sees them accomplish just half of what he has, then he might take them seriously. Orton walked off, then MVP sarcastically said there goes Orton, who we might see in the ring sometime in the year 2012.

MVP then talked up Priceless, but Cody Rhodes said he doesn't want to hear about that when MVP isn't even in their class. He told MVP to get out of the ring and they'll catch him at the next PPV he was shut out of. MVP slowly backed away, then he left the ring. He vowed to remember this conversation. As MVP walked up the entrance ramp, C.M. Punk's music hit and out walked Punk and Kofi Kingston. MVP was set to leave, but Punk tried to convince MVP into joining them for a six-man tag against Priceless. Crowd was hot for Punk.

MVP then took off his dress shirt and all three stormed the ring for a fight. Ooops. Punk and Kofi bailed on MVP, who stormed the ring by himself to take a beating from Priceless. After Punk and Kofi shared a laugh, they stormed the ring and took out Priceless by themselves. Punk and Kofi slapped hands, then left the ring as Cole talked about Punk proving his point on the road to retribution.

4 -- JBL vs. BATISTA -- #1 Contender match to Raw's World Hvt. Title

Batista was aggressive early on, including a spear in center ring. He shook the ropes and wanted it over early, but JBL wisely rolled to the outside to regroup. Back in the ring, JBL went to work on Batista with some mat work. Batista then came back with a powerslam before attempting a spear, but JBL blocked with a boot. On a second try moments later, Batista nailed the spinebuster. He then ended it with the Batistabomb for the decisive win.

WINNER: Batista in 5:00. Well, that was short for a #1 contender match. Two ways of looking at that. Either they wanted Batista to look as dominating as possible or JBL just isn't in the type of physical shape necessary to take on a long match assignment. (*)

Post-match: After Batista disappeared backstage, JBL took the mic in the ring. Trying to catch his breath while rolling on the mat, JBL said this has been the most unbelievable week of his life. He said he expected to win tonight, but he has to be honest with "his fans." JBL admitted his heart wasn't in this tonight after the week on Wall Street. Fans didn't have much sympathy for JBL's plight. He said he is the happiest, most-blessed man alive and he wants to thank Congress for issuing billions of dollars to people like him, who make the country go round. He said rich people like him employ people like the fans. JBL thanked Obama and McCain for voting for rich people like him with this bail out. He said it's great they bailed him out so he could keep his penthouse apartment in New York. JBL said he's not going to forget this wonderful backwoods city and these wonderful people. Nice tongue-in-cheek take on Congress saving the people who screwed things up in the first place.

After JBL cut his promo, Cryme Tyme's music played. Shad said that after Congress bailed out JBL, they're going to bail out JBL's limo by taking it out on the town. Divas then strutted over to the limo and hopped inside to take a spin. Suddenly, Sgt. Slaughter showed up to take a free ride in the backseat. Cryme Tyme then rapped with Mickie James, who was hanging out of the sunroof of the limo. JBL could only hold his head in pain back in the ring. I suppose that's WWE's version of comeuppance.

5 -- THE UNDERTAKER vs. BIG SHOW

Both men squared off for a boxing fight to start things off. They exchanged control early on before ending up on the floor where Taker wanted the running leg drop across the ring apron and he connected. Back in the ring, Taker tried to build momentum, but Show crushed him with a clothesline to stop Taker in his tracks. Show wanted a Vader Bomb at 6:00, but Taker moved and Show ate the mat hard. Show then tried to swing at Taker with right hands, but Taker ran the ropes, ducked, and eventually knocked down Show with a flying clothesline for a nearfall. Taker wanted Old School at 8:00, but Show countered with one free paw to nail a chokeslam in center ring. Crowd oohed, then Show made a cover for a two count.

Both men came to their feet at 10:00 and wanted chokeslams, but Taker countered Show's chokeslam attempt into a rolling DDT for a two count. Good leverage move from Taker right there. Taker then became too aggressive with right hands in the corner and ref Charles Robinson admonished him. While Taker chased down Robinson, Show took off the turnbuckle pad and rammed Taker face-first into the steel. Show then landed a KO right hand, then a second that caused Taker to slump to the mat out cold. Show lifted up Taker's head and landed a massive right to the back of the head, causing a ref stoppage. Show then demanded the ref raise his hand as the winner. After Show left, Taker struggled to get to his feet after being knocked out. They stayed with this for a while as Ross talked about not being able to believe what he saw. As Taker made it up the entrance ramp, he acted as if he was lost still trying to regain his bearings.

WINNER: Big Show via KO in 11:00. Really nice match featuring two big men where they could have gone one of two ways of greatness or dullness. WWE agents and the wrestlers have laid out some good matches tonight taking advantage of the strengths of the individuals involved in the ring. Show returning to that WrestleMania 24 level of being a dominating big man is exactly where he should be. Taker losing a match on PPV doesn't happen often, so this should be treated as a big deal to be effective in continuing to rebuild Show as a major deal on Smackdown. (**1/2)

6 -- WWE champion TRIPLE H vs. JEFF HARDY -- WWE Title match

Hardy came out first to a strong reaction, then Hunter took his time arriving in the ring to defend the title. Ross and Tazz calling this one after Justin Roberts handled the formal ring intros. Crowd was split on the cheers, then the bell sounded and the men went face-to-face for a pre-match handshake. Hardy turned his back, though, and Hunter nailed him with a forearm blow into a nearfall that didn't please Hardy. Hunter smirked, then they locked up for reals this time. They exchanged control on the floor and in the ring to start things off, then Hardy completely missed a big dive to the outside and went splat on the floor stomach-first. Just painful live and especially on the replay. Ref and Hunter stalled for time so Hardy could collect himself, then Hunter brought Hardy into the ring and made a cover for a nearfall.

At 10:00, Hunter slapped on an abdominal stretch to continue working over Hardy's injured stomach. After Hunter was forced to break the hold, he tried a sleeper, but Hardy escaped and nailed a whiplash lariat to begin a comeback. They back and forth again with a plethora of counters and reversals, neither man gaining the advantage until Hunter nailed a Double A spinebuster in center ring. Hunter stalked Hardy, who slowly reached his feet and blocked the Pedigree. He then stunned Hunter with a catapult into the ringpost before nailing the Whisper in the Wind. Ross called it with Hardy only able to score a two count. Hardy then tossed his t-shirt into the crowd and wanted the Swanton, but Hunter moved just in time.

Hunter then popped to his feet and wanted the Pedigree Part II, but Hardy blocked and nailed the Twist of Fate in center ring. He then went up top and nailed the Swanton Bomb on his second attempt. He had the pin, but he was a bit lackadaisical with the cover. Hunter managed to hook Hardy's arms while kicking out of Hardy's pin attempt, then he crucifix pinned Hardy for a three count with Hardy trying to fight out of the pin. It wasn't in time, though, and Hunter scored the win to the shock of the crowd. Afterward, both men were slow to their feet, but Hardy clapped and shook Hunter's hand before Hunter quickly left the ring to celebrate on stage.

WINNER: Hunter in 17:00 to retain the WWE Title. Heck of a title match. Another well-done match with the wrestlers executing a great game plan in the ring that fit the storyline of Hardy being just one second away from everything in life. Great nearfalls and counters with Hunter giving Hardy plenty while remaining one step ahead. (***3/4)

Backstage: Hunter walked into a greeting from Arn Anderson, who congratulated him and said that finish is why he is who he is. Hunter then kept walking and found himself face-to-face with Koslov, who told him something in his language. Koslov then translated it into congratulations for Hunter, who just stared right back at him. Koslov blinked first and walked away, leaving Hunter to stare back at Koslov over his shoulder.

Those last two Main Event matches were SICK. Made the PPV. Great finish to both matches, about as dramatic as it gets.

7 -- World Hvt. champion CHRIS JERICHO vs. SHAWN MICHAELS -- World Title match -- ladder match

Cole and Lawler with the call after Lillian Garcia handled the formal ring intros. 90 percent support for Michaels and very little support for Jericho from the crowd. And here we go with the action moving to the floor early on. They traded ladder shots, then Michaels catapulted one ladder square into Jericho's mouth to draw blood. Some brutal ladder shots were featured throughout the first 10 minutes of this, with Michaels being the only one to tease scaling a ladder in center ring to get a few fingertips on the gold. But, Jericho had a counter for each offensive advantage Michaels was able to muster.

At 15:00, Michaels wanted a moonsault on Jericho through the announce table ringside, but Jericho climbed up Michaels's ladder and both men crashed down hard through the table. Back in the ring, Jericho came back with more counters, including a counter to a top rope elbow smash and Sweet Chin Music by inflicting more damage with the ladder. Jericho then trapped Michaels underneath the ladder and started to climb the ladder, but Michaels shoved the ladder away and Jericho slowly tipped over the top rope and crashed down to the floor. He immediately clutched his knee to sell an injury, then Michaels started to scale the ladder in the ring. Michaels had the belt in his hands, but Jericho managed to slide into the ring to tip over the ladder just in time.

At 20:00, they had a race to the top of the ladder to gain possession of the title. Each man had fingertips on the belt, but they started to trade blows. Sudenly, Jericho fell backward and his leg was trapped in the ladder. Lance Cade then ran into the ring and distracted Michaels, who couldn't fight him off to grab the title belt hanging in the air. Michaels then jumped onto Cade, ducked a clothesline, and nailed Sweet Chin Music on Cade. Meanwhile, Jericho pulled himself back up and got his hands on the belt, but Michaels fought him off. They then had a tug of war with one man having one side of the title belt and the other man having the other side of the title belt. They fought and scrapped, then Michaels yanked Jericho into him, causing a big headbutt. Michaels fell off the ladder and Jericho ripped the belt off the hook before crashing down to the mat with possession to win the match and retain the belt.

Afterward, Michaels was motionless on the mat as the crowd sighed in disbelief at another close call finish against the person they were rooting for. Jericho collected himself while blood poured from his mouth. Cade then helped him leave with possession of the title belt to close the show.

WINNER: Jericho in 22:00 to retain the World Hvt. Title. Excellent, innovative ladder match. Some repeat spots, but the story we've followed on Raw for five months carried the match to another good-to-great match in the series. Cade's interference knocks it down a notch, but the match was still relatively clean and focused on the two men in the ring rather than a bunch of outside variables to distract from the action. AAA on Galavision TV Report

By: Xavier Hernandez
Show aired on: 10/04/2008

The show starts off with the summary video from last week's show. For this show, the Legion will team up with a surprise wrestler, plus the Vampiro/Mesias feud continues, and more.

1) Billy Boy, Gato Eveready & Argenis vs. Los Diabolicos (Mr. Condor, Angel Mortal & Gallego)

-First Fall: Typical opener, but the focus is on Billy Boy. The heels start dominating the match with triple team attack. The tecnicos start the usual comeback with aerial moves. The heels snap and start the triple team again, but this time with heavier attacks. The referee awards the DQ to the tecnicos, for the excessive punishment of the Diabolicos.

Winners: Billy Boy, Gato Eveready & Argenis

*Pretaped Segment: Fabi and mari argue with their father, and both say they're tired of wrestling the Morenos. Apache still says they have to be careful, because there is no weak opponents. The Apaches are sure they will beat the Morenos tonight, and also at VdE.

2) Los Apaches (El Apache, Fabi Apache & Mari Apache) vs. El Oriental, Cinthia Moreno & La Hechicera

-First Fall: Both teams make constant tags to battle each other, but there is more interaction between Oriental and Fabi. The heels snap, and therefore we have the triple team assault. The Apaches make the comeback with hard kicks and chops. Cinthia takes out Mari with a Rolling Body attack off the apron. Hechicera does a Diving Crossbody to take out Apache. In the ring, Oriental hits a Piledriver on Fabi to score the pinfall.

Winners: El Oriental, Cinthia Moreno & La Hechicera

*Noti AAA:
-Hype for Verano de Escandalo, which will air during the next two weeks.
-AAA just released their first supercard on DVD, and it's Guerra de Titanes 08, where Cibernetico got burned by Mesias. They are promising to release more supercards on DVD (talk about influence from American wrestling on AAA).
-Promo video hyping Zorro, and they're simpling asking "What's wrong with Zorro?". Good video, but I don't see where is this angle going.

*Promo Video: This one hypes the Mini tournament Finals, where Octagoncito, Charlie Manson and Absimo Negro will battle for the first AAA Mini title.

3) Octagoncito, Mini Charlie Manson & Mascarita Sagrada vs. Mini Abismo Negro, Mini Histeria & Mini Kenzo Suzuki

-First Fall: Nothing special during the first few minutes. Mascarita locks an Inverted figure Four on Abismo, until Big Kenzo arrives to help the heels. Big Kenzo cleans house and assaults the tecnicos. Shockingly, the referee doesn't award the DQ to the tecnicos, despite the attacks from Big K. The tecnicos start the comeback, and Mascarita does the Asai Moonsault on Abismo. Octagoncito also flies to take Histeria out. Mini K hits Big K, and Manson hits a Slingshot Crossbody on Mini K. In the ring, Abismo fouls Octagoncito, and pins him with a German Suplex.

Winners: Mini Abismo Negro, Mini Histeria & Mini Kenzo Suzuki

*Pretaped Segment: The HF 2.0 cuts another hard promo. Hart claims he and Jack will take the titles off the Tijuanas. Evans thinks the Tijuanas are a joke as champions, and the HF is simply the best tag team. Konnan also comes to the ring, to make fun of the new stable called the AAA Army. Konnan claims no stable will stop the Legion. Konnan tells Roldan, that starting tonight, the Legion will destroy their paper stars, until he books Konnan fairly. He introduces the HF 2.0.

4) Hart Foundation 2.0 (Teddy Hart & Jack Evans) w/Nikki vs. Crazy Boy & Extreme Tiger

-First Fall: The Harts immediately attack the tecnicos with spectacular moves. Crazy begins to match Hart's technical offense, but Evans joins in. Jack pulls his bottle of water to spit in Crazy's face. The referee Tirantes sr. is also aiding the Americans. Crazy finally starts the comeback with a Diamond Dust on Hart. Tiger delivers a Gory Bomb on Evans. Crazy delivers hard chops on Hart, but Nikki comes to the rescue. The referee stops her and seduces her. Open Hart Surgey on Crazy, but the referee is still dealing with Nikki. Hart is pissed off, and tries to hit his girlfriend. Tiger is taken out with the Hartbreaker, and Evans hits the 630 Senton. The referee awards the DQ to the tecnicos, after he was attacked by Hart. (Seroiusly, they need to stop showing random crowd shots during key moments).

Winners: Crazy Boy & Extreme Tiger

-Aftermath: Konnan arrives with chair in hand to help the Harts destroy the tecnicos. The Legion leaves, and both tecnicos shake hands, but Tiger turns on Crazy, as expected.

*Pretaped Segment: Porky enters the offices of Joaquin Roldan, to officially resign. His explanation is that he has no friends left in the company, and he cannot wrestle like that. Roldan tells Porky he has many friends, and asks Porky to continue at least until VdE, and both will take a decision afterwards. Porky agrees and leaves the office.

*Promo Video: This one hypes the situation between Mesias and La Secta. Apparently Mesias is not pleased with the job the Secta guys are doing, but the Secta are tired of beign treated like slaves. The Secta has a surprise in store for Mesias at VdE. On the other hand, the Dance Club members (El Elegido and Alan Stone), claim they will finish the Secta.

5) Mesias, Dark Ozz & Dark Cuervo vs. Vampiro, El Elegido & Alan Stone

-First Fall: The heels start the early assault, and obviously Mesias is going after Vampiro. Both men take their battle to ringside. The Canadian applies a Big Boot to stop Mesias' momentum. Elegido applies the Inverted Hercules Cutter on Ozz. The secta member does a standing Moonsault on Elegido for the two. Ozz gets Elegido into the Swinging Bottom for the three count.

Winners: Mesias, Dark Ozz & Dark Cuervo

-Aftermath: Mesias and Vampiro take their brawl to the crowd. The Secta guys stop Mesias from continuing the brawl with Vampiro. The Canadian Vampire celebrates in the ring, but Mesias returns to beat him up. Security staff has to interfere to stop the brawl between both men. (This sets the Steel Cage match between the two at VdE).

*Promo Video: This one hypes the official heel turn of Chessman. The assassain of the red light is now working solo, and his main targets are Mesias and Cibernetico. Darkness has invaded Chessman, and the Hell Brothers are finished. Cibernetico bows to make Chessman pay for his betrayal, and Chessman also bows to take the title.

*Pretaped Segment: La Parka tries to cheer Superfly. Parka claims Electroshock is scared of Fly, and that's why he is trying to destroy Fly no matter what. Fly promises to do anything possible to remain in the main event spot, and to defeat Electroshock.

6) Cibernetico, La Parka & Superfly vs. Chessman, Kenzo Suzuki & Electroshock.

-First Fall: Same typical match, concerning the in-ring performance. Electro once again completely destroys Fly, and even Fly's father tries to stop Electro. Chessman and Cibernetico now attack each other with heavy strikes and chairshots. A big table is set in one of the ring corners. Fly is taken on a stretcher, after the cruel attacks of Electro. Parka is double teamed by the Legion. Chessman spears Cibernetico through the table, and the referee DQs Chessman for excessive punishment.

Winners: Cibernetico, La Parka & Superfly

-Aftermath: Joaquin Roldan arrives to the ring with bodyguards to kick Chessman out of the ring.

FINAL COMMENTS: Overall, a good show. This show did good hype for Ciber/Chessman, Mesias/Vampro, the Minis, and Electro/Fly. Seroiusly, they need to stop showing random crowd shots during key moments, it really bothers me. Verano de Escandalo airs next week, and I promised to do FULL reports on supercards. I mentioned before that I'd only do short reports for regular shows.

This has nothing to do with the report, but I just completed my first year as a reporter for the Wrestling Observer website. I really want to thank Mr. Dave Meltzer for the opportunity he has given to take my passion for Lucha Libre to another level. I truly enjoyed this first year, covering both CMLL and AAA. I also want ot thank Bryan Alvarez, and Stephen Ashfield for giving me the chance to wirte an article for Piledriver Online. Also I want to thank Stu Saks, Lisa Rocchi and Frank Krewda for giving the chance to work for Pro Wrestling Illustrated Magazine. Finally I want to thank everyone who reads my reports every Sunday and Monday. Throughout this year, I received nothing but great feedback, and I am so happy to know that readers like my reports. Thanks to Dave Meltzer again for this wonderful opportunity. I'll keep doing reports, as long as I have computer access, the right TV channels, and free time during the weekends.

WWE RAW Results: 10-6-08

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's complete report). Condensed here to in-ring results only.

1 -- GLAMARELLA (IC champion SANTINO MARELLA & Women's champion BETH PHOENIX) vs. MICKIE NOBLE (MICKIE JAMES & JAMIE NOBLE)

Very quick match with Santino sneaking out a three count on Noble after Beth became involved with the ref's back turned. Afterward, Santino did his trumpet-blowing celebration. He then bailed into the front row when Noble chased after him. Regal then tried to attack Noble, but Noble flipped him over the guardrail to the front row. Regal suddenly snapped and tried to tackle Noble, but the ref held Regal back. Mickie then grabbed Noble by the hand and led him away from ringside.

WINNERS: Glamarella in 2:00. Quick match with a finish out of nowhere to set up a worked shoot approach to the next advancement in Regal vs. Noble. Either that, or something went haywire. Interesting, but we need more. (1/2*)

2 -- KOFI KINGSTON vs. TED DIBIASE, JR. (w/Cody Rhodes and Manu)

Interesting match-up here. Kofi wanted the boom-boom leg drop at 2:00, but Cody hopped onto the apron to distract Kofi. Punk came into play and knocked Cody off the apron, but Ted caught Kofi from behind with the Million Dollar Dream into a Russian legsweep for the decisive pin and the win. Afterward, Priceless celebrated on stage while Punk checked on Kofi.

WINNER: Ted in 3:00. Man, another too-short match here. They obviously don't trust the attention span of the viewer up against football and baseball playoffs. (3/4*)

3 -- REY MYSTERIO & ECW champion MATT HARDY vs. KANE & MARK HENRY (w/Tony Atlas)

Hot start here, as Rey and Matt cleared the heels to the outside with some impressive tag team work. Again, less than two minutes before a break in the action, this time with a commercial rather than a pinfall. Feels like Impact tonight.

They returned from break with Kane working on Hardy with a chinlock on the mat. Henry and Kane then started their attack working on Hardy in the heel corner. Hardy then wanted a big splash, but Hardy predictably moved and rolled over to his corner to tag out to Rey. Rey landed a little offense, but Kane blasted him with a big punch to the head to cut off Rey's momentum. Henry then dragged Rey back to the heel corner to set up Kane for an attack on Rey.

They rolled over to the top of the second hour with Kane striking Rey between the eyes with a chop to cut him off again. Kane then went up top, but Rey ducked underneath a clothesline and whipped Kane into the corner. Rey then crawled over to Hardy for a hot tag. Hardy landed a swinging neckbreaker, then he kicked Henry off the apron with a dropkick to the knees. Back to Kane where Hardy landed a top rope bulldog before calling for the end. Henry stepped in, though, and ran distraction. The whole deal broke down before Henry caught Rey on the floor and launched Rey into the turnbuckle to crotch Hardy, who was standing on the top rope. Kane then took advantage with a chokeslam on Hardy for the pin and the win.

WINNERS: Kane & Henry in 11:00. Competitive match with a furious finish that made for good TV building anticipation for the eventual finish. Kane continues to be the dominant, smart, aggressive heel that works much better than the clunky, lovable losing Kane. (*1/2)

4 -- SHAWN MICHAELS vs. LANCE CADE -- Anything Goes, No DQ

They traded blows after the opening bell, then Cade pounded Michaels to the outside. He whipped out a table on the floor, then set it up next to the dude sporting the awesome Astros 1980's rainbow jersey on the front row. Cade measured Michaels, then he quickly put Michaels through the table with a modified Rock Bottom slam. Michaels sold it as if every muscle in his body was frozen, then Cade rolled him into the ring and grabbed a steel chair. Cade took too long with the chair, then Michaels tackled him and landed right hand blows. Michaels managed to grab the chair in the scrum, then Cade accepted a chair shot to the head with time to get his hand up to block. Still a pretty clean blow. Michaels then pounded the crap out of Cade with multiple chair shots to every inch of Cade's body. Michaels, on the verge of insanity, spun around as if he were chasing his tail, then he covered Cade for the pin and the win.

Michaels had his hand raised, then he spun into the corner and stared down at Cade as he writhed on the mat. Michaels remained completely motionless with his shoulders shrugged up near his neck while snorting down at the mat. Announcers speculated Michaels was envisioning Cade as Jericho. Michaels then suddenly grabbed the steel chair and pounded away on Cade some more. Michaels sneered and convulsed while the crowd chanted his name. Michaels's music hit, then he stepped out of the ring satisfied with the damage done. Michaels then started walking down the entrance ramp with an unchanged expression of determination.

WINNER: Michaels in 3:00. Well, the match was short, but at least it made a very, very clear point about Michaels's state of mind and level of aggression right now. Great theater at the expense of Cade and the chair. (*)

5 -- KELLY KELLY vs. JILLIAN HALL

There was a lot of CROSS TALK between Cryme Tyme and Miz & Morrison with Lawler and Cole silenced into not being able to call the action between Kelly and Jillian. Just back and forth chatter while Jillian worked over Kelly in the ring. Kelly then slipped out of a side slam and landed a victory roll for the pin and the win. Cryme Tyme gave props to Kelly, then gave Miz and Morrison a final parting word before celebrating with Kelly in the ring.

WINNER: Kelly in 4:00. That was rough. There was some entertaining moments listening to the four adolescents make fools of themselves on purpose, but the whole segment was pretty much a train wreck. (n/a)

6 -- JBL vs. BATISTA -- #1 Contender match

Bell sounded and the announcers asked Orton why he was out there. Orton said he has no idea, but maybe Jericho thought they were doing a lousy job. Orton said he doesn't care who wins, just that he gets his title shot when he's healthy. Batista dominated this thing early on, even slappin on a figure four at 2:00. Jericho checked on JBL, who tried to get the ropes. He got a finger tip on the ropes and Jericho demanded a rope break. The argument gave JBL an opening to take advantage and score a few nearfalls, opening up the question of why the heel ref doesn't just call a three count and ring the bell. Lame. Batista came back with a suplex and had a pin, but Jericho refused to count. The action spilled to the floor, then Jericho pretended to admonish JBL allowing Regal to smash Batista into the ring apron. Batista countered a suplex with a side belly-to-back suplex, then Jericho encouraged JBL to get up. Lawler interjected the logic that Jericho must think he has a better chance of beating JBL than Batista. "I dunno," Lawler concluded. The action broke down with Regal getting involved, then Batista had enough and gave both Jericho and JBL a double spear. Suddenly, Mike Adamle showed up on the stage and sent down referee Mike Kiota to the ring. Kiota counted a nearfall, then Batista made his full attack with a spinebuster and Batistabomb on JBL for the pin and the win as Jericho could only watch from ringside.

WINNER: Batista in 8:00. Hectic match based around the loose-with-the-logic heel special referee stipulation. Just never ever a fan of that concept. Batista made the most of it with an energetic victory to get the crowd excited. (*)

Post-match: Adamle took the mic and said it's rather ironic that Jericho booked himself as special ref tonight because that's one of the ideas pitched by Shane and Steph to change things up around Raw. He announced Jericho vs. Batista at Cyber Sunday for the World Title. And the stip is that the fans get to pick the special referee. Is it... Randy Orton, Shawn Michaels, or Steve Austin? Huge pop for Austin, followed by an "Austin, Austin" chant. Lawler's voice did a typical high-octave jump in excitement for Austin. Adamle told the WWE Universe it's in their hands. Batista then posed in the ring and stared down at Jericho to close the show.
