Oh FYI, I'm playing 2df via TV-Out, with the PS2 Neo Geo stick, with a Trio-Linker (from EMS) to connect it to the PC. There's no input lag whatsoever.
I have FIOS and I was playing Samurai Shodown 2 with a guy from Brazil whose ping was so high it didn't even register, and it was like he was sitting on the couch next to me.
No Bullshit
Yeah, it rocks doesn't it?

I have cable at home and the performance is simply buttery and milky smooth 95% of the time. But even at work on my laptop, where I've got a shitty Sprint Wireless Broadband connection, I can *STILL* get a few smooth games here and there sometimes. It's fucking amazing.
All my friends that I use to hang with playing 2D fighters when in high school and JR College are gone or don't play these games anymore. So, I am left with nobody to play Neo Geo games or even SF2 for fuck sakes. I have just gotten used to playing the CPU and turning the difficulty up.
I can't even find people that will play Tekken 5 or DOA4, which doesn't bother me that much since I am burned out on those series playing other people. Everyone wants to play FPS games online now. I give up.
2df is your answer answer my friend....seriously.
Two Things; One, I want a 36" CRT damn it! I have a 27" Wega and 2D games in it never looked better!
Regarding the image authenticity debate, I am going to tell you guys something. What I am about to say is no bullshit:
I have been playing 2D games in the arcade starting from 1989(I still suck at most of them unfortunately). I have stared and gazed at CRT arcade monitors for years, and know what images look like on them like the back of my hand.
Now....I have also been playing mame for years, and although I've owned FBA for years, I've never really enjoyed it as much as mame, due to mame's vastly enormous library. If you would have asked me JUST a couple days ago if I thought 2D games running through either mame or FBA could look like a CRT image running on either an LCD or DLP screen, I would have laughed at you, slapped you silly, and told you to stay off the drugs!
But today....I have discovered something insanely awesome. I have discovered how to make 2D games look VERY VERY CRT-like on my 110"
DLP front projection screen!
You see, there are these blitters in FBA that were made by a guy named Jan Klassaaan. Among these blitters, are a couple in particular...."scanlines" and "3D projection", that turns the 2D image into a look that resembles the effects you would see on a true CRT screen almost TO A TEE!
Now, I know that mame has scanlines as well, but FBA does them in an authentic way that I have NEVER seen done before! They are PERFECT!
Then you have the 3D projection blitter, which slightly warps the shape of the image, where the top and side corners are slightly bent, resembling what it would be on a CRT tube set.
Then, what I do is run the emu in its naitive standard rez, 320X200 or whatever the figure is, and enter full screen. Once in full screen the image becomes small, but my projector has an anamorphic and "wide" button that doubles its size. Then the image, for some reason gets this look that is STRIKINGLY close to what I'm used to seeing on an arcade crt monitor.
Coupled with a few tweaks to color, contrast, gamma and brightness in the nVidia color profile menu, and I have an image that's running on a DLP projector, that you would literally mistake for running on a giant 110" CRT monitor, connected via RPG SCART(My PC's actually connected via HDMI).
Seriously...anyone who doubts FBA can make 2D games, NeoGeo games in particular, look CRT-ish on any monitor needs to experiment with the scanlines, phospher and 3D projection blitters. They are absolutely PHENOMENAL!!!!!!
