how you doing lads,

ive just brought a neo 1 slot cabinet and got told if i unplug the connector to the 1 slot board i can plug in jamma games, ive got tekken 2 so i pluged it in and the pictur and sound are fine but i can only use 2 of the four buttons and both of them are punch i cant kick the jamma board looks like it might need to have another connector,im just guessing i dont really know.

its a neo mvs cabinet, can any one let me know what i should be able to play on it,it has 4 in game buttons. all my mvs games work sound im just not sure what i can do with jamma games, also if i wanted to put a 2or 4 slot board in it do i just disconect the 1 slot and do a straight swap.

any help would be apreciated

cheers:conf:

Tekken is Jamma+, it needs the proper kick harness. Plugs right into that other connector, should cost you 10-15$

cheers mate,

is it easy to install

Just plug it in, then run the wires up to your buttons. Should be a simple disconnect and reconnect :) If you can plug in a TV, you can wire some buttons heh

Instead of the kick harness you could also solder from the kick harness edge back to the main edge connector as the Neo-Geo supports 4 buttons. That's what I did for my tekken 3 board. Maybe not the best way, but it works for me needs :)

Probably only want to do that if you're comfortable soldering.

Hmm I don't like modifying boards unnecessarily but thats a good idea, I might do that myself.

I really wanted to solder to some points on the board, and not the edge connector itself , but the solder points are too damn small for me! I also pondered doing the same thing for the audio and make it permanently stereo off the JAMMA edge. I was thinking I could cut the one trace on the JAMMA edge side and wire over the audio output from the kick harness side, but I decided against that. I don't want to make a major mod like that to the board. Plus once again the solder points are too damn small!!! A switch could probably be wired in there to switch between stereo and mono, but I still think that'd require some mods to the board. There's lots of ways to do it the not right way!!

If anyone wants to see I can post a pic of what I did to the Tekken 3 board.

Not trying to be rude but if you don't understand what to do from what has already been said its probably best you don't attempt the mod.

Probably not the best job in the world, but it works!

The top side (parts side) of the kick harness has the kick button 4 for P1 and P2, and the bottom side (solder side) has kick button 3 for P1 and P2.

So what I did was wire kick button 3 to button 3 on the JAMMA harness and kick button 4 to button 4 on the JAMMA harness for players 1 and 2.

So if you're going by the manual thats...
(kick harness to jamma harness)
A8 to b
A20 to 24
B8 to c
B19 to 25

This is for a tekken 3 board, I would think others are similar.
You can look here for your manual if you don't have one: http://www.crazykong.com/manuals/#T

Well, I would rather use a kick harness and a fingerboard than solder the PCB.
(Just a personal preference)
