Its a good collection I plan on doing the same thing but my money go to better things than buying video games but what would be really nice if you actually bought them all in the same region like all blue for USA versions, that is what I plan to do when I retire. :buttrock:

excellent collection!

how many A boards do you own and what do you play these boards on, a cab or supergun? might be nice to see a pic of that too.

on a side note, i recognize the arcade distributors sticker on your shadow over mystara board, actually got to take a look around their stockroom, they have about 9 alpha 3 boards and 8 gem fighter boards, about 30 cps2 boards in all, nothing rare though

yuppers.

Actually I know a guy who has one but he will not sell just the board, only the board AND the cabinet. Im thinking it would probably be worth it actually but I dont for the life of me know what I will do with that cabinet.

I own 54 A boards, 20 U.S, 30 japanese, 4 asian, and 1 orange board. I have around 150 B boards, most in storange some here with me, these boards are not counted as part of my collection. I only have 1 sega astro cab. That SOM came from arcade shock, I kept that one and sold the rest of them as it was better preserved. Most of my board where bulk purchasing from retiring vendors.

what forum are you coming from, killercabs perhaps.

Usually people would prefer phoenix, the only two boards people prefer unphonixed is anniversary and progear only to prove their legit

I don't know, I collect NOS or mint CPS2 kits and I wouldn't want any of my boards phoenixed. It's not that tough to replace batteries every 3-4 years and physically changing the code on the board like the phoenix mod does, as well as having that annoying logo during loading kills value in my mind. At that point, you're almost better off using emulation or a bootleg.

Christ people if you don't like the phoenix splash screen just close your eyes for 4 seconds when you power up. I do not see why you 2 are so resistant to progress. And saying things like if you phoenix your board you might as well just play it on a emulator just doesn't make sense. Phoenixing the board increases its value as its zero maintenace, zero risk, your method is the opposite. Tell me what will you do if by chance you hold onto your collection for the next 4 or 6 years and one of your boards dies and raz is not around nor can you aquire the phoenix files through other channels, you got a nice paper weight that costed you a nice amount of money some ways back that you can not recover. Hell 4 years from now the board market price can increase by 2. But to each his own, but remember with your attitudes this can happen too you in the long run dealing with the battery even if you change them at reasonale periods of time.

Like mainman, I agree with phoenixing. In fact, it is a no-brainer. You have everything to gain and nothing to lose by phoenixing. I bet anyone who is opposed to phoenixing will quickly change their minds the first time a CPS2 battery dies on them.

Agreed. It's that photo that changed my mind. I'm a relative noob to arcade hardware, changed a few batteries, but now it's nothing but phoenixed CPS2 for me. Nothing like a little peace of mind.

Yeah the battery is a time bomb, that picture has happened in 27 of my boards.

I would like to add one more flaw to the battery. I have a super street fighter that would boot to the screen which displayed the game tittle then constantly reset. I removed roms 1-10 from that board and use a confirmed working romset from another board and had the same problem still. I knew the mask rom where not faulty so that only left two possibilities, either the pcb was faulty or the battery backed decrytion table was corrupted.

I then removed the battery from this board and phoenixed it, guess what it booted and played fine afterward. It turns out the decrytion table became corrupted even though the board had a new battery installed. Remember that battery is static memory, how long do you think that table can hold in memory even if you keep replacing the battery, its fragile memory.

The games function exactly the same, and you dont' run the risk of an exploded battery. I've seen a battery explosion on a CPS2 game first hand (it was an xmen vs street fighter). The acid burn was so bad, I couldn't even salvage some of the roms to transplant into another game.

I agree its cake to change the batterys, I do it all the time on my CPS3 hardware since there isnt' a fix for them yet. If the games are exactly the same, using 95% capcom original parts/code, I dont' see how you see them in the same class as bootlegs/ emulators. Not even close to the same thing.

Mainman- nice collection dude.

Great collection! I am trying to complete a mint/excellent condition english labeled MVS collection. I am 90+ carts into it and about 13+ into my ST-V collection. I plan to go for CPS2 next.

Neo Fighters < Capcom Fighters

Garou has nothing on any CPS2 fighter

Thanks for sharing mainman, good stuff.

Hi all,
I'm new to these boards, but I have been collecting pcb's for a few years now (have slowed down since picking up other hobbies though). I have about 21 CPS2 boards (19 blue, 2 green). I had more but sold off some of them when console versions of them came out, so I only have ones now that have never been released on a console or the translations weren't close. I can see that some of you guys are pretty hardcore about your collecting, and that's great. I wish I had the room to store more boards and money, of course, to buy more, but I'm pretty happy with the 21 CPS2's I have:

Battle Circuit (Green)
Dimahoo (Blue)
X-Men (Blue)
X-Men VS SF (Blue)
Marvel Super Heroes (Blue)
MSH VS SF (Blue)
Super SF2 Turbo (Green)
Eco Fighters (Blue)
Armored Warriors (Blue)
19XX (Blue)
1944 (Blue)
Cyberbots (Blue)
Darkstalkers (Blue)
SF Alpha (Blue)
SF Alpha 2 (Blue)
Alien VS Predator (Blue)
Vampire Savior (Blue)
Super SF2 (Blue)
D&D: Tower of Doom (Blue)
D&D: Shadow Over Mystara (Blue)
Saturday Night Slam Masters 2 (Blue)

I also have a decent collection of Neo Geo MVS carts, Sega ST-V carts, and many dedicated pcb's (some of which are considered rare). I'm more into shooters and action games, but the newer shooters and many rare and expensive ones from the late 90's and on are just beyond my wallet. I know alot of you are pcb purists, but I'm glad when I can get a faithfully-translated game on a console that was previously only available as a rare or expensive pcb because I can finally get a chance to play it. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have the pcb, but it's easier on the wallet and space available.

Is there any way to get a "Unibios" type feature on an A board?

If there is, it would probably only apply to Green (Japan) and Blue (US) boards. The gray B-boards (Asia region) do not fit into US or Japan A-boards. One of the connectors is deeper on the Gray boards than on the blue or green ones.

Unibios on a A board would not be useful.

All the game controls and region bios goes on the B boards.

Razoola created the Unibios and Phoenix Cps2 boards. If there were such thing as a Unibios for a A board I am sure he would of created it by now.

That said Cps2 b boards using phoenixed roms are about the closest thing you can get to UNIBIOS on a Capcom Cps board.

Uh, okay we're all entitled to opinions, but Garou is one of the best fighters ever. I love CPS2 just as much, if not more than the next guy, but let's be serious here.
