ECW on Sci-Fi Results: 11-20-07

Heating up for the holidays
By Andrew Rote
November 20, 2007
TAMPA, Fla. - Kane overcame the odds on ECW on Sci Fi, earning a win in his Handicap Match against Big Daddy V & Matt Striker. But after the bell, the duo stuffed him like a turkey and ended the night on top of the world.

Earlier in the evening, our fans received an early present for the holidays. Elijah Burke ushered in Shelton Benjamin as ECW’s newest roster addition. It didn’t take long for the former Raw Superstar to make an impact. He defeated ECW Original Tommy Dreamer, pleasing the brand's self-proclaimed Guiding Light. Burke announced he once led the charge to change the Land of the Extreme, claiming he is now doing it again.

If a new Superstar wasn’t enough for our fans to kick off the holiday season, a scorching hot fight between Kelly Kelly and Layla certainly was. Layla addressed the Tampa, Fla., audience, boasting that she is better than Kelly in every way possible. She also made sure to give thanks for The Miz and his decision to arrange a catfight between the two Divas next week. Before Layla could finish, Kelly attacked her and started a food fight that would make any Thanksgiving dinner fail in comparison.

ECW Champion CM Punk kicked off ECW on Sci Fi, riding his white hot winning streak for another night. The match also displayed the continuance of the agreement between ECW General Manager Armando Estrada and SmackDown Acting General Manager Vickie Guerrero.

In other Tuesday night action, Kevin Thorn returned with his new look to ECW on Sci Fi, earning a convincing win against Nunzio. WWE Tag Team Champions John Morrison & The Miz also offered their commentary while Jesse & Festus bested Deuce & Domino.

Matches
ECW Champion CM Punk def. Kenny Dykstra
Shelton Benjamin def. Tommy Dreamer
Jesse & Festus def. Deuce & Domino
Kevin Thorn def. Nunzio
Kane def. Big Daddy V & Matt Striker (Handicap Match)

Matt Hardy Injury Update

- The following quotes and updates from Matt Hardy come from an interview WWE.com did with him shortly after his surgery:

“I am feeling ok, I have definitely been better,” said the recovering Hardy. “The surgery lasted between 60-90 minutes, and the prognosis was that I was lucky they got in there when they did.” Matt continued, “The appendix had already ruptured, and the toxins from that rupture were poisoning my body. I am used to the aches from my career, but this was the most miserable pain I had ever experienced. I had cold chills with hot sweats, and just couldn’t find a comfortable way to lie down or sit. I felt like I was dying it was so bad.”

The problem became serious when Hardy made his way to Tampa last night. “I made my way to the arena last night, and still was in such considerable pain that I went straight to the trainer’s room, and they sent me to the hospital for a CT scan.” The scan revealed the enflamed appendix, but the burst was not seen until the appendectomy was underway. Now Matt Hardy must face a road of recovery that will see him out of action much longer than he had envisioned as he chases the United States Championship held by MVP. “I will be here in the hospital until the antibiotics clean the rest of the toxins from my body, and then from there it will be anywhere from 8-10 weeks before I get back into action,” Hardy explained.

Gregory Helms injury rehab update

Gregory Helms' rehab following his neck surgery isn't going as well as expected. His neck is healing fine, but he has significant nerve damage that has been very slow to recover. One of his arms is still completely numb. Right now, there is no timetable for his return.

Nasty Boys comeback looking 'NASTY'!!!

As reported earlier, Jerry Saggs and Brian Knobbs re-formed as The Nasty Boys tag team at last night’s SmackDown/ECW tapings from Tampa, Florida to wrestle their first WWE match in many years. The dark match featuring the former WWF and WCW World Tag Team Champions has left a ton of heat on them both.

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com, The Nasty Boys acted as if they were huge stars returning and took far too much time to get to into the ring, interacting with friends and family members sitting at ringside. Brian Knobbs entered the ring with his back to the hard camera while partner Jerry Saggs got into the ring way to close to their opponents Drew McIntye and Dave Taylor, making them look stupid.

After the match started, The Nasty Boys were said to have worked very stiff with not only McIntye who is only 21 years old but with Dave Taylor who is a well respected veteran. McIntyre tried to be respectful and take the abuse but finally had enough and began returning stiff shots. One backstage source that the dark match was one of the worst things that you could ever hope to see.

The disaster of a match caused the SmackDown taping to finish up late, ending at 9:54 PM EST, leaving the WWE ring crew very little time to switch the set and ring for the live broadcast of ECW on Sci-Fi.

Ouch. But then again, was anyone out there exactly looking forward to seeing the Nasty Boys in the ring again? Nostalgia is one thing, but you can't really expect a couple of guys who really were out of their prime when they left in the '90s to magically come-back and make an impact. It's good for a laugh or two, but if WWE is more interested in loading their roster with gimmicks than talent, well...

Welll I could find out about Lashley is that his rehab back from rotator cuff surgery was to be 4 to 6 months (that was on July 30th, his last TV match appearance) so knowing the WWE, for the biggest impact on his return, I'm betting he'll be back for The Royal Rumble.

WWE Smackdown Results: 11-23-07

An Extreme Thanksgiving
By Louie Dee
November 23, 2007

TAMPA, Fla. – The day after Thanksgiving is the busiest retail shopping day of the year, earning it the nickname “Black Friday.” On SmackDown, however, Black Friday took on a new meaning, as Superstars from the Land of the Extreme made their presence felt against the Blue Crew.

Kane was victorious again on SmackDown, this time by disqualification. As the Big Red Monster was seemingly on the road to victory, Striker got involved with a steel chair – getting his protégé disqualified in the process. However, Kane thwarted Striker’s attempted chicanery, clobbering him with a clothesline before smashing the chair across Big Daddy V’s ample back.

Irish eyes are crying
As another act of “tough love,” Mr. McMahon put son Hornswoggle into a match with another massive opponent – this time, the World’s Strongest Man, Mark Henry. Finlay, however, had a problem with that, telling McMahon that this wasn’t part of their “deal.” Instead, the WWE Chairman set up a Handicap Match – Finlay & Hornswoggle vs. Henry. Thanks to a little help from their trusty shillelaghs, the Irish duo picked up the victory. After the bout, however, Finlay’s past of helping Hornswoggle finally caught up with him. As The Great Khali – who the ornery Irishman assaulted with a shillelagh during his Survivor Series Match with the lil’ leprechaun – approached ringside, the World’s Strongest Man assaulted Finlay from behind. Khali then added a devastating choke bomb to the Irishman’s misery, as poor, frightened Hornswoggle could only look on in horror from the corner.

A night of seconds
WWE Tag Team Champions The Miz & John Morrison made the second defense of their newly won gold, taking on The Major Brothers. Brett & Brian Major had hoped their second WWE Tag Team Title Match would end better than the first, but unfortunately, once again, they came up just short. The brothers from Long Island fought valiantly, though, even with Brett Major busted wide open by John Morrison. Miz & Morrison seemed to show no ill effects from being opponents at Survivor Series, retaining their gold after Miz gave Brian Major a Reality Check.

Engine failure
Jamie Noble may have put his foot in his mouth once again on SmackDown, but this time, he ended up getting the last laugh. Prior to Noble’s match with Chuck Palumbo, Michelle McCool caught him straddling Palumbo’s chopper. Noble tried to sweet talk the beautiful blond Diva, but his advances were quickly spurned. No matter for Noble, who survived a tough match and pulled out a surprising victory, using the motorcycle enthusiast’s size against him to gain the pinfall with a roll-up.

Going 2-for-2 in the Sunshine State
After being on the winning side of a 10-Divas Tag Team Match at Survivor Series, Torrie Wilson once again found the winner’s circle on SmackDown. This time, the blond bombshell from Boise showed off her ring prowess in solo action against Victoria, one of the Divas on the losing end at Survivor Series. Moments after escaping Victoria’s dreaded Widow’s Peak, Torrie dropped her opponent with a neckbreaker to seal the victory.

The Champ is still here … sort of
Jesse & Festus also made a SmackDown appearance, but not in the ring. Instead, they came as fans … well, fans and perhaps merchandisers, as Jesse extolled the virtues of the new John Cena – My Life DVD with his big buddy Festus in tow – dressed to the nines in Cena gear, of course. Unfortunately, their time was cut short thanks to Festus’ insistence of another DVD viewing, but before leaving, the burly country boy made it known that if you don’t follow The Champ’s virtues of hustle, loyalty and respect, then perhaps you can’t see him.

Rated “T” for Tombstone
Edge said that SmackDown would be where he answered all the questions about why he screwed Undertaker. It was learned that Edge’s actions were the culmination of four months of planning with “the love of his life,” Acting SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero. Once the two revealed they were in cahoots, Vickie named Edge the new No. 1 Contender to the World Heavyweight Championship, granting him a match against Batista next week. But when The Animal was the guest on the return edition of The Cutting Edge, all Hell broke loose. The angry champion manhandled the smitten Rated-R Superstar, while Undertaker made his presence felt by giving Edge’s main squeeze a taste of Tombstone.

Most valuable presentation
United States Champion MVP was primed for a big night, as JBL was set to award him the first-ever “United States Championship Championship Ring” on behalf of the United Nations. That wouldn’t be the only ring MVP got a feel for on this night, however; after listening to the Ballin’ Superstar run down Matt Hardy, Rey Mysterio had enough and challenged MVP to a non-title match. Rey nearly was able to pull off the victory, but a little help from one of the U.S. Champion’s true friends – the top rope – helped Porter pick up a victory in his home state.

Matches
Kane def. Big Daddy V (disqualification)
Finlay and Hornswoggle def. Mark Henry (handicap match)
WWE Tag Team Champions The Miz and John Morrison def. The Major Brothers
Jamie Noble def. Chuck Palumbo
Torrie Wilson def. Victoria
U.S. Champion MVP def. Rey Mysterio (non-title match)

TNA Impact! Results: 11-22-07

Better late than never, I guess. Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Keller's review). Edited to ring-action results only.

1 -- BROTHER DEVON vs. CHRIS SABIN vs. ABYSS

Devon brought the X Title belt with him to the ring that he and Brother Ray stole from Black Machismo. Devon met Sabin on the rampway to start the match. Seconds into the match, as Devon clotheslined Sabin out of the ring, Abyss's music played and he walked out. At 4:00 Black Reign and Rellik attacked Abyss. Rhino ran to ringside to make the save. Tenay plugged Turning Point's tag match featuring those four and ten thousand tacks. Sabin threw a barrage of punches at Devon in the corner, most of which looked lousy. Brother Ray entered the ring, but Sabin kicked him down right away, then schoolboyed Devon for the win.

WINNER: Sabin in 6:00.

STAR RATING: 3/4* -- Just a lot of moves and outside interference.

2 -- KIP JAMES vs. SAMOA JOE vs. JOHNNY DEVINE (formerly Havok)

West said Joe is obviously the favorite in this match. Tenay talked about the third semi-final match including both Christian and Styles. He said they'd likely not get along well given recent events. B.G. James tripped Joe from ringside, leading to the first advantage for Devine and Kip. A minute later Kip and Devine argued, giving Joe a chance to recover and get up and powerslam Devine and give Kip a running knee in the corner. B.G. grabbed Joe's leg. The ref ordered B.G. to the back. Devine bumped Kip off the apron into B.G. Joe then gave Devine a Muscle Buster for the three count.

WINNER: Joe in 4:00.

STAR RATING: 3/4* -- Again, just a bunch of moves. Not boring, but not really a full-fledged match.

3 -- A.J. STYLES vs. CHRISTIAN CAGE vs. BLACK MACHISMO

During Styles's ring entrance, they panned the Impact Zone with the camera turned sideways. It was a cool perspective. The match began before Christian's entrance took place. Tenay said the ref was ordered to start the mach without him. Good action for a few minutes including a nice high dropkick by Styles after a rapid exchange rebounding off the ropes. Christian then headed to the ring. Christian went right after Styles, who bailed out to ringside as they cut to a break. Styles hid out in the entrance tunnel as Christian battled Machismo in the ring. As Styles headed toward the ring, Christian chased him to the back again. At 12:00 Machismo hit the Lethal Combination, then went to the top rope. Styles ran out and knocked Machismo off balance. Christian gave Machismo the Unprettier, but Styles quickly frog splashes Lethal and scored a three count before Christian turned around to make the cover. It wasn't particularly believable Christian would just sit there after the Unprettier and then act surprised when he turned and saw Styles in the ring considering behind his back Styles just hit the frog splash and the ref slapped the mat three times. Styles tried to explain to Christian he didn't mean to double-cross him in a worried/apologetic type of way as he backtracked up the rampway to get away from Christian in the ring.

WINNER: Styles in 13:00.

STAR RATING: *3/4 -- Good action, as you'd expect from these three, but a goofy finish takes away from it.

4 - VELVET SKY vs. ODB vs. ANGELINA LOVE

As Sky entered the ring, she rubbed the middle ring rope with her crotch. West said he's never so badly wanted to be a ring rope in his life. Well, if families were watching and chuckling at the Thanksgiving feast slapstick fest, the channel may have turned at that point. If not, ODB patting her boobs and bouncing her cleavage probably sealed the deal. ODB beat up Love quickly, yanking her to the floor and shoving her hard onto the ramp. The crowd chanted for "ODB." Love returned with a tip rope bodypress. ODB took a swig out of her flask as Love and Sky fought. ODB broke up Sky's pin attempt leading to those two fighting. ODB yanked Sky's head into her own crotch a dozen time, which is called "the Dirty Dozen." Between that move, the camera close-ups, the outfits, the gestures, the commentary, and the alcohol, this is one of those TNA matches that just seems classless and borderline sleazy rather than sexy and suggestive.

WINNER: ODB in 3:00.

STAR RATING: 1/2*

5 -- A.J. STYLES vs. SAMOA JOE vs. CHRIS SABIN

Tenay said Hall and Nash went "new school" when they picked Samoa Joe to be their partner at Turning Point. Borash handled ring intros to create a sense of prestige for the match, but the signals were mixed as th ref held up a comical turkey suit to his right. Another ref to his left showed of a $25,000 check awaiting the winner. Joe and Sabin knocked Styles out of the ring in the opening seconds, then battled each other. When Styles ran back into the ring, they side-stepped him and Styles flew to the floor. Sabin kicked Joe to ringside, then dove through the ropes onto Styles on the floor. The match then continued with Styles battling Sabin in the ring. Joe approached Styles, spun him around, and punched him a few times. He nailed Sabin with a roundkick to the side of his head. Sabin and Styles both rolled to the floor. Joe went for a running dive through the ropes on Sabin, but Styles cut him off with an elbow at 5:00. At 8:00 Styles settled into a chinlock. Sabin applied a chinlock on Styles at the same time. Styles held on. Joe lifted them and dropped down with a double jaw-breaker.

Sabin took control of the match after the break. Joe picked up Styles and rammed Sabin with him, then scored a two count on Styles after a powerslam. Joe came back with a big kick to the face, then slammed Sabin onto Styles, followed by a senton on Styles for a two count, broken up by Sabin. At 14:00 the crowd chanted "This is awesome!" As Sabin fought Joe in the ring, Styles grabbed a table at ringside. Styles yanked Sabin to the floor. Styles went for a suplex on a table, but Joe dove at them first. They moved, so Joe crashed through the table. They cut to third commercial break. With Joe knocked out at ringside, Styles and Sabin battled for a few minutes. Good stuff, as you'd expect. Tenay and West reminded viewers that Hall and Nash were still planning to crash the Angle dinner. At 22:00 Styles hit the Styles Clash, but Joe returned just in time to break up the pin. Joe caught a flying Styles and dropped him on his head in a vicious move that should never be anything but a decisive finishing move. Sabin threw a spin elbow at Joe, then they cut to yet another break. Tenay said the Turkey Bowl featured the type of action that shows what separates TNA from everyone else. Styles surprised Joe with a Pele kick at 28:00, but Joe fired right back with a one-armed slam and Muscle Buster for the win.

WINNER: Joe in 28:00 to win $25,000.

STAR RATING: ***1/2 -- Really good match. Probably better than this rating live, but with four commercial breaks, only a little over half of it actually aired. A showcase TV match for TNA, though, which is no surprise given the three involved.

He Slices, He Dices...
By Greg Adkins
November 26, 2007

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Mr. Kennedy seemed to be trying out for an infomercial tonight. But the only thing he was pedaling was a series of insults to Shawn Michaels.

The loudmouth from Green Bay, Wis. dissed a bunch of HBK’s merchandise, including his new DVD, Heartbreak & Triumph. The verbal slap to Michaels’ face was only the latest putdown from Mr. Kennedy, who feels that HBK doesn’t deserve any more WWE Championship opportunities. He announced that he’ll have the opportunity to make his case when he faces off against HBK at Armageddon. However, before Armageddon, Kennedy further bolstered his argument when he overpowered high-flyer Brian Kendrick in a singles competition.

In other Raw action:

Eight Is Enough
A week after being defeated by World Tag Team Champions Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch, Hardcore Holly & Cody Rhodes redeemed themselves in an Eight-Man Tag Team Match. The reluctant partners teamed with Super Crazy & “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan to defeat Cade & Murdoch and The Highlanders.

The Glamazon Awaits
After defeating Melina, Mickie James continued to ride the wave of momentum she’s been on the past several weeks, right into a title opportunity at Armageddon against Women’s Champion, Beth Phoenix.

Trading Places
Jeff Hardy & Triple H had really found their groove, teaming up to take down the dreaded duo of Umaga & Snitsky. Unfortunately, Raw GM William Regal pulled the rug out from under them when he announced that Hardy would be pitted against The Game in a match at Armageddon.

Rebuilding Walls
In his first match in more than two years, Chris Jericho showed that he’s still a force to be reckoned with. After suffering through a tirade by Santino Marella, Jericho took the fight to the cocky Italian, pinned him and then invited Jerry “The King” Lawler to the ring, where the Raw announcer got in a few licks of his own. Jericho also had a few words for WWE Champion Randy Orton.

Legend of the Fall
After receiving a “win-or-retire” ultimatum from Mr. McMahon, the legendary Ric Flair laid it all on the line against the Legend Killer, Randy Orton. After a fierce battle, in which the WWE Champion appeared on the verge of prevailing, Flair took advantage of a distraction to emerge with the victory and the heart of his career still beating.

Matches
Jeff Hardy & Triple H def. Umaga & Snitsky
Hardcore Holly & Cody Rhodes and Super Crazy & Jim "Hacksaw" Duggan def. Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch and the Highlanders
Chris Jericho def. Santino Marella
Mr. Kennedy def. Brian Kendrick
Mickie James def. Melina
Ric Flair def. Randy Orton

ECW on Sci-Fi Results: 11-27-07

Beauties and Beasts
By Kara A. Medalis
November 27, 2007

ROANOKE, Va. – ECW’s newest Superstar, Shelton Benjamin, continued to make his mark in the Land of Extreme on Tuesday night. After another introduction by Elijah Burke, Benjamin emerged with a whole new outlook, proclaiming he’s unstoppable.

“The bar has been raised. That means there is danger at the door. That means it’s only a matter of time before Shelton Benjamin is ECW Champion,” Benjamin said. “I am the gold standard, and quite frankly, there is no one here that can stop me. And just like the lyrics in the beginning of my song says, ‘Ain’t no stopping me now!’ ” Shelton, a three-time Intercontinental Champion, defeated SmackDown’s Shannon Moore on Tuesday night. After beating Tommy Dreamer last week, Benjamin is undefeated as an ECW Superstar.

The beauties were in action on ECW this week, as Kelly Kelly and Layla went one-on-one. This week, ECW’s blonde bombshell ruled the Divas' ring and defeated her former friend, while her biggest cheerleader, Balls Mahoney, looked on. The icing on Kelly Kelly’s victory cake? That would be her sexy pictorial in the new WWE Magazine.

Also on Tuesday night, SmackDown’s Jesse & Festus faced WWE Tag Team Champions John Morrison and The Miz in a non-title match. The Tag Champs continued their winning streak with a controversial win, but Jesse & Festus look like serious competition for Morrison & The Miz.

The beasts shook the ECW ring this week, when Kane and Big Daddy V clashed again under Extreme Rules. SmackDown’s Mark Henry made a surprise appearance.

Don’t forget – ECW on Sci Fi airs on a special night next week, Thursday at 10/9 CT. Check out ECW in its entirety every week on WWE.com. The X-Stream will air this Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET. Don't forget, next week it will air on a special day – Friday, at 4 p.m. ET on WWE.com.

Matches
Kelly Kelly def. Layla
John Morrison & The Miz def. Jesse & Festus (non-title)
Shelton Benjamin def. Shannon Moore
Big Daddy V def. Kane (Extreme Rules Match)

TNA Impact! Results: 11-29-07

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (link to Keller's Report). Condensed to in-ring results only.

1 -- ERIC YOUNG & GAIL KIM vs. CHRISTY HEMME & JIMMY RAVE (w/Lance Hoyt)

Young collapsed as the pyro exploded. Hoyt and Christy tried to give Edge and Vickie Guerrero a run for their money on the sloppiest tongue kiss of the month. There was a really awkward and lazy arm whip into the ropes by Young on Rave. Rave went for an armbar submission seconds later. Young reversed it, lifted Rave, and set him in the corner of the ring on the top turnbuckle. Hoyt yanked Young's legs out from under him yanked him crotch-first into the ringpost. Rave then dropkicked him in the race as the ref was distracted. Young ducked a Hoyt charge a minute later, then tagged in Kim. The women battled for a minute. When Rave entered the ring, Kim took him down with a head scissors off the top rope. Kim then rolled up Christy for the three count.

WINNERS: Young & Kim in 3:00.

STAR RATING: 1/2* -- Not very good.

2 -- TEAM 3D (w/Johnny Devine) vs. SONJAY DUTT & "BLACK MACHISMO" JAY LETHAL

After an early flurry by Team 3D, Lethal and Dutt sent them to the floor and then flew over the top rope and knocked them to the floor. They pulled out a table and set it up at ringside. They ended up brawling into the crowd. Lethal leaped off the rafter barrier over fans onto Brother Devon. Dutt then flew off the top rope onto Brother Ray. Both were well executed. They cut to a break as Dutt and Lethal celebrated with fans going berserk. Back in the ring after the break, Dutt hit Ray with a 450 and Lethal his a subsequent top rope elbow from another corner. They took turns taking shots at Devon. A replay aired of Lethal shoving Ding Dongs in the mouths of Team 3D. Back in the ring, Dutt flew off the top rope and did a somersault into a dropkick into a trash can propped against Devon who was hanging upside down in the corner. Cool spot. They each climbed to top turnbuckles with Devon prone in mid-ring. Devine hit Lethal with a kendo stick. Team 3D then gave Dutt a 3D for the win. After the match, Ray and Devon whipped Lethal and Dutt with nunchuckas. Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin made the save.

WINNERS: Team 3D in 10:00.

STAR RATING: *1/2

3 -- RELLIK vs. RHINO

Rhino's ring intro short video is pretty cool. Rhino ran to the ring as always. Tenay let viewers tuning in for the second hour know that Booker T would be wrestling Roode in the main event, plus the Coalition-Alliance Summit would take place. Tenay plugged "The Road to Turning Point" on Spike TV this Saturday night which will feature a replay of "The Shop of Horrors" match from Genesis between Black Reign and The Monster Abyss. Rellik took control early, including nailing Rhino with a stiff boot to the face followed by a two count at 3:00. Rhino came back with a spinebuster and a Gore out of nowhere for the sudden win. After the match, Black Reign ran in and attacked Rhino. Abyss made the quick save. Abyss ad Rhino stood together in the ring. Abyss emptied a bag of thumb tacks onto the mat.

WINNER: Rhino in 4:00.

STAR RATING: 1/2* -- Not a lot to it. They're not taking early care of Rellik's monster image, are they?

4 -- ROBERT ROODE (w/Miss Brooks) vs. BOOKER T (w/Sharmell)

Booker T hook kicked Roode to the mat early. Then h applied a chinlock. They showed Sharmell clapping at ringside. Roode took control a minute later and held control as they cut to a mid-match break. At 9:00 Roode scored several two counts. Roode asked Brooks to hand him a chair. She hesitated. That gave Booker enough time to recover, duck the chair, and kick Roode to the mat again. Booker hit his signature Axe Kick for the win.

WINNER: Booker T in 10:00.

STAR RATING: *1/2 -- Basic stuff, but fine.

5 -- ABYSS & SAMOA JOE & KAZ & SCOTT STEINER vs. CHRISTIAN CAGE & KURT ANGLE & A.J. STYLES & TOMKO

Styles was so excited about Christian and Angle being in a match with him at once, he leaned to get a tag and fell over the top rope into the ring. That was pretty funny. Styles tagged in, but rather than face Steiner, he tagged right back out. Steiner took Tomko down with a hard clothesline, then did some push-ups. Joe tagged in against Tomko at 2:00. Joe hit a running knee into the corner, then a kneedrop on the mat. They showed Scott Hall and Kevin Nash watching the match backstage. Kaz hit a high dropkick on Tomko as soon as he tagged into the match. Then he tagged in Abyss. West praised Kaz for being reborn lately. Angle and Abyss fought at ringside at 4:00. Styles took some shots at Abyss, also. When he tried to throw Abyss into the ring, he couldn't do it. He asked for help from Tomko. At 6:00 Steiner got a hot-tag in and he suplexed all four opponents one right after another. Steiner lifted Christian onto his shoulders, then Kaz dropkicked him. Kaz then took Angle down with a flying kick for a two count. Styles made the save. Christian gave Kaz a low blow. Christian then kneelifted Kaz off the ring apron to the floor. Christian chopped Kaz after the match in the corner. They showed a clip of Angle and Christian arguing during the break with Styles trying to play peacemaker. At 12:00, Angle scored a two count on Kaz. Angle tagged in Tomko. Kaz surprised Tomko with a tornado DDT out of the corner. Kaz then hot-tagged Joe. Joe set up a Muscle Buster on Christian, but hit a snap powerslam instead. Styles intervened, but Joe knocked him down with legwhip. Angle gave Joe an Olympic slam from behind. Abyss surprised Angle with a Black Hole Slam. Tomko lifted and slammed Abyss. Steiner then jumped in and knocked Tomko to the mat. Kaz hit Christian with the Wave of the Future. Styles flipped off the second rope with an inverted DDT. As Styles celebrated, Joe applied a rear naked choke. Christian broke that up. Joe kicked Christian. Christian set up an Unprettier, but Styles hit a Pele Kick to break it up - but it his Christian by mistake. Joe clotheslined Styles to the floor, then gave Christian a Muscle Buster for the three count.

WINNERS: Joe's Team in 15:00.

STAR RATING: ***1/2 -- Very good eight-man tag. Really good TV match. Good timing on a lot of multi-person complex sequences.

WWE Smackdown Results: 11-30-07

Payback, 619 style
By Louie Dee
November 30, 2007
ROANOKE, Va. – It turns out that all Rey Mysterio & Kane needed was a little help from an associate – in this case, each other – to take down the threat of MVP & Big Daddy V on Friday night.

Last week on SmackDown, Mysterio fell to MVP in a non-title match, thanks to the United States Champion’s use of the top rope. As for Kane, it was an appearance by Mark Henry that cost him an Extreme Rules Match against Big Daddy V Tuesday night on ECW. Having presumably seen what had happened to the other, both Mysterio & Kane certainly had reason to watch each other’s backs once their huge tag team opportunity rolled around this week.

The United States Champion and his 500-pound partner looked downright dominant at times, but in the end, the Master of the 619 and the Big Red Monster got the duke. With the two monsters occupying each other outside the ring, Mysterio flattened MVP with a 619 and springboard splash to claim the victory. Rey’s budding rivalry with the Ballin’ Superstar seems to have picked up a big head of steam. With Friday’s pinfall over MVP, is an opportunity at the United States Championship potentially in Rey’s future?

Fool me once, shame on you…
Jamie Noble also seems to be on a roll, as for the second straight week, he scored a pinfall victory over Chuck Palumbo. Once again, Noble tried to use his Southern charm on Michelle McCool earlier in the night. This time, however, he wasn’t just blown off by the beautiful blonde; Noble was also accosted by Palumbo, who brushed aside last week’s match as a “fluke” in Noble’s favor. That may have been an oversight on Palumbo’s part, as the motorcycle enthusiast once again wheeled home with the loser’s share of the purse this week. Just like in their previous encounter, Noble was able to take advantage of one tiny mistake in the corner of the ring; when Chuck got hung up after missing a kick, Noble rolled him up for the 1-2-3.

Leprechaun crosses the tracks
While it’s unclear whether Belfast, Northern Ireland or the Other Side of the Tracks is a tougher neighborhood, our fans got a glimpse of resolution when Finlay & Hornswoggle took on Deuce & Domino. Michael Cole & JBL wondered on commentary whether or not having the littlest McMahon as his partner made Finlay an underdog against the former WWE Tag Team Champions – but as they have quite often in the past, the Irishmen proved that they make one dangerous team. Late in the bout, things looked bleak for Hornswoggle when Deuce & Domino ditched Finlay and cornered the little man. But when they attempted to whip the pint-sized prankster with their belts, the referee confiscated the leather lashers. That allowed Finlay to grab his shillelagh, and with the ref’s back turned, the ornery Irishman gave Deuce a crack in his own mouth with the wooden weapon. One Tadpole Splash later, Finlay & Hornswoggle were victorious.

After witnessing his son’s victory, WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon met with Ranjin Singh later in the night. After making Singh act out some impressions – including one of Hornswoggle and one of Singh’s own client, The Great Khali – the Chairman and the translator made sure that Khali was ready for his big match with Finlay at Armageddon.

You made your bed, now lie in it
ECW Champion CM Punk made another appearance on Friday Night SmackDown, battling Kenny Dykstra in a non-title match. Punk gutted out a tough victory when these two met in the Land of the Extreme two weeks ago, but the self-proclaimed “future Hall of Famer” hoped things would be different on his home turf. The Straightedge Superstar had other plans, however. Despite putting up a valiant effort, Dykstra hit another speed bump on road to the Hall of Fame; this time, he got to Go to Sleep in his own bed – or ring, as it were – as the ECW Champion made it 2-for-2 against the 21-year-old.

Three-dogged night
Thanks to his main squeeze, General Manager Vickie Guerrero, Edge got his chance to regain the World Heavyweight Championship from Batista in SmackDown’s much-anticipated main event. The Rated-R Superstar dedicated the match to Vickie – who is still recuperating from Undertaker’s attack the previous week – but someone else would later have a dedication of their own for Edge. Just when Batista looked like he was ready to finally beat Edge in a championship match for the first time this year, Undertaker returned a favor to the Rated-R Superstar by interrupting the match. Edge felt Batista’s spear, but when the Rated-R Superstar bailed out of the ring, The Phenom lashed out at the closest Superstar he could find, dropping Batista with a Phenom-enal chokeslam. But when all was said and done, a returning Theodore Long was the one to drop the biggest bombshell.

Matches

Finlay & Hornswoggle def. Deuce & Domino
ECW Champion CM Punk def. Kenny Dykstra (non-title match)
Rey Mysterio & Kane def. United States Champion MVP & Big Daddy V
Jamie Noble def. Chuck Palumbo
World Heavyweight Champion Batista vs. Edge (No Contest)

TNA Turning Point PPV Results: 12-2-07

Couldn't bring the real-time PPV results per usual but here are the results, courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's report). Condensed to in-ring results only.

1 -- TEAM 3D & JOHNNY DEVINE vs. CHRIS SABIN & ALEX SHELLEY & X Division champion JAY LETHAL -- tables match

The bell sounded and Ray took a house mic to proclaim that Team 3D is the best tag team of all time. The babyface trio cleared 3D and Devine out of the ring at 5:00, then Shelly ripped into Ray with forearm strikes to the chest. Several tables were entered into the ring and Ray ate one table, but only because Lethal moved out of the way. No victory for the Machine Gun team. On the floor, Devon leaned a table against the guardrail then placed Shelley on it. Devine went for a splash on Shelley, but Shelley moved and Devine ate the table. Back in the ring, Lethal and Shelley had a suplex on Devon through a table, but Ray moved the table just in time. The ref took a bump, then Lethal placed Devine on a table and nailed a top rope elbow drop. Of course, the ref was KO'ed, so the match continued. Ray then placed Devine on top of Lethal on top of the table, then 3D revived the ref and he awarded the victory to Devine.

WINNERS: Team 3D & Devine in 16:00. Not a good omen for tonight if they have to use a b.s. finish in the opening match. Then again, there's nothing on the line tonight with only a Women's Title match tonight, so this PPV will be quickly forgotten by the next TV taping. (**1/2)

2 -- ODB & ROXXI LEVEAUX vs. ANGELINA LOVE & VELVET SKY

They started with sideshow-wrestling antics with the opponents giving each other and the referee wedgies. I will give ODB credit for getting herself over by being a completely nutty chick. Love took a hot tag and dominated folks before kicking Roxxi in the face. Love made the cover for the win.

WINNERS: Love & Velvet in 5:00. Basic women's match after the silliness to start things off. Good athleticism from Love after the hot tag. (*)

3 -- ERIC YOUNG vs. JAMES STORM (w/Jackie Moore)

The bell sounded and Young just went right after Storm. No games tonight. He jumped him on the entrance ramp and landed a dropkick that cleared Storm down to the ringside area. Jackie then tried to hold Young on the floor, but Storm accidentally knocked out Jackie with a dropkick. Young took Storm back into the ring and stalked him, but Storm gained control by sending Young shoulder-first into the ringpost. Young suddenly rolled through on a top rope splash for a nearfall, then Storm came right back with a hard clothesline to go back on the offensive. Storm nailed the Eye of the Storm, then he posed with his cowboy hat. Young, with that hurt shoulder, made a comeback with a top rope elbow drop for a nearfall. Storm drew inspiration from the beer being held by Jackie, then he went for a top rope move, but Young countered with a bridge pin for a nearfall. Storm went for a superkick, but Young nailed a powerslam for a nearfall. Jackie took a swig of some beer, then accidentally spewed it in Storm's face. Storm then took down a full beer and tried to use the bottle as a weapon, but the ref stole the bottle. Young then rolled up a surprised Storm for the pin and the win.

WINNER: Young in 12:00. Finish played into the storyline with Young always having the one-up on Storm in competition. Good singles match with Young playing the babyface role well. (**3/4)

4 -- 15-MAN FEAST OR FAMINE MATCH

Petey Williams has apparently been hiding in a tanning bed the last two weeks and his new gimmick is that he's a bodybuilder. Petey then grabbed one of the briefcases and dropped down to the floor with possession of the case. So, I guess he sits out the rest of the match until the big reveal at the end. On the floor, B.G. James took a fall and he was escorted from the ring by trainers. Chris Harris complained to the commentators while B.G. was tended to on the ramp. Kip James then grabbed a case and he was surrounded by people. B.G. made a miraculous recovery and Kip tossed the case over the ropes to B.G. Senshi grabbed the third case and fell to the floor with possession of it. Down to one case. Christy became involved, then the random LAX thug showed up and whacked Christy. Men battled near the announce table, with Scott Steiner dominating folks. In the ring, Chris Harris looked at the final case, but decided not to climb up for it. Kip went for the final case, but Hernandez cut him off. Kip got the best of him with a dropkick, then Steiner came in and dropped Kip with a belly-to-belly suplex. Daniels nailed Steiner with a dropkick, then he went for the final case, only to be cut off by Hernandez. Daniels took down the case, then Kip stole it, then Steiner stole it from him and went to the floor. Match over. They recapped the match while Steiner's music played. They're not revealing the winners until Impact. Unbelievable.

WINNERS: Who knows. Just a stupid gimmick match and they don't even give the results on the PPV. (n/a)

5 -- GAIL KIM vs. AWESOME KONG -- Women's Title match

Gail posed on the apron before entering the ring, so Kong shoved her to the floor. Kong followed on the outside and Gail wanted a fight. They entered the ring after two minutes on the floor and the bell sounded to officially start things off. Kong dominated Gail and sat down on a Camel Clutch while grabbing a handful of hair. Gail tried a comeback, but Kong squashed her in the corner with a big splash. She then put her up for the Thighmaster squeeze, but Gail grabbed the ropes to block the hold. Kong blocked a suplex attempt and gave her a chest bump. She then went for a powerbomb, but Gail blocked. She tried to knock down Kong, but Kong stayed on her feet. Gail went up top and finally got her down with a second top rope dropkick. Gail then went up top and nailed a leaping sentaun splash. She made a cover for a close nearfall as the Impact zone breathed a deep sigh. Gail pulled Kong to her feet, then Kong nailed a big slap to the face. She stomped on Gail in the corner and shoved the ref aside. Kong tried to squeeze the life out of Gail with a boot to the throat, then ref pulled her away. Kong then piefaced the ref and the ref threw the match out.

Afterward, Kong went back to squeezing the life out of Gail with a boot to the face. Kong realized what happened and she stalked the ref. She then dropped the ref with a sit out powerbomb in center ring to a big pop. Kong then turned her attention to Gail and picked her up again. Kong went for a powerbomb, but Velvet Sky intervened, only to take a chokeslam. Kong went back to Gail and dragged her to her feet, but Love showed up with a steel chair. Kong ducked a shot and smashed the chair into Love's face. The fans popped, then chanted for ODB. Kong picked up Gail a third time and this time finished her off with a powerbomb on the chair. She signaled that Gail is done, then Kong crouched on the mat to survey the damage. Kong then choked the life out of Gail until security showed up. Kong screamed as she tried to squeeze the life out of Gail and security eventually sent her out of the ring.

WINNER: Gail via DQ in 8:00. Kong is officially the greatest heel of all time. The heat on the finish and post-match was amazing and Kong played her part to perfection. My goodness, stick her in the men's heavyweight division asap. (**1/2)

TNA Turning Point PPV Results: 12-2-07

Continued from previous post...

6 -- ABYSS & RAVEN vs. BLACK REIGN & RELLIK -- 1,000-tack match

They played up Rellik's kick on Rhino on Impact as what knocked out Rhino from this match. They must have overlooked the fact that Rhino was so injured that he ended up pinning Rellik clean. The fight quickly moved to the floor, then Abyss took Reign to the front row of fans. They went to a split screen of the action on two sides of the ringside area. Abyss set up a table near the bed of tacks near the announce table, then he placed the tacks on the table. Reign caught him from behind and shoved him into the ring. Abyss then grabbed the Darkness Falls object and jammed it into Reign's head. Rellik came back on Abyss, then Reign shoved Abyss into a chair wedged in the corner. Abyss came up bleeding like mad, then Rellik grabbed a handful of tacks and jammed them into Raven's mouth. Kendo sticks entered the equation, then Raven tossed Reign off the apron through the bed of thumbtacks on the table ringside. Reign was motionless, then Raven went after Rellik, but Rellik tossed Raven through a board ringside. Back in the ring, Rellik grabbed a bag of thumbtacks and dumped them in center ring. He then spewed something in Abyss's eyes and Abyss flailed around the ring. Rellik thought he had Abyss where he wanted him, but Abyss dropped Rellik into the tacks with the Black Hole Slam. Abyss made the cover for the win. Afterward, Raven spit blood while Abyss tried to hold himself up against the ropes in victory.

WINNERS: Abyss & Raven in 14:00. Not my kind of match, but a heck of a bloody battle. Let's hope they actually reinforce the brutal nature of this match on Impact rather than having the participants show up fresh as a daisy on the next TV show. (**1/4)

7 -- BOOKER T. (w/Sharmell) & KAZ vs. CHRISTIAN CAGE & ROBERT ROODE (w/Ms. Brooks)

Kaz started things off and he exchanged control with Christian. Roode came in and Kaz slapped on an arm drag, which drew a smile from Brooks ringside. They spotlighted the crazy Roode fan standing on top of the building peering around. Kaz stacked up the heels in the corner and landed a dropkick on the sandwich. He then nailed a somersault splash onto both opponents on the floor. Back in the ring, the heels took control on Kaz and started working on him. Kaz came back with the Wave of the Future on Christian, but he couldn't make the hot tag, as Roode yanked Booker off the apron. By the time Booker was in position, Christian had cornered Kaz again. Kaz then dropped the heels with a double DDT and finally tagged out to Booker, who cleaned house. He dropped Christian with a spinebuster for a nearfall, then he went up top, but Roode crotched him from behind. Christian then climbed up top and went for a superplex, but Booker shoved him down and nailed a missile dropkick. Booker set up for the spinarooni, but Roode cut him off. Booker tried to nail Christian with a leaping kick, but Booker got crotched on the top rope. Kaz then came into the action and got dropped to the floor by Roode. Booker then ran over both heels, did the spinarooni, and went for the axe kick on Christian, but Booker cut him off. Roode then grabbed the chair from Brooks, but Kaz intervened. Back in the ring, Roode went for a chair shot on Booker, but Booker ducked and Christian ate the chair. Kaz dropkicked Roode out of the ring, then Booker measured Christian and nailed the axe kick. He rolled over and covered Christian for the win.

After the match, Booker and Kaz celebrated. In the ring, Roode tried to help Christian to his feet, but Christian was lifeless. Roode eventually got Christian up while Brooks stood ringside with her arms folded. Christian then came to life and shoved Roode. They suddenly had a shoving and screaming match until A.J. Styles showed up to play peacemaker. Styles escorted Christian to the back while Roode stood in the ring.

WINNERS: Booker & Kaz in 16:00. Decent semi-main event tag match with star power to carry the match. Typical finish with the heels taking each other out on accident. (**1/2)

8 -- A.J. STYLES & TOMKO & TNA World Hvt. champion KURT ANGLE (w/Kurt Angle) vs. SAMOA JOE & KEVIN NASH & ERIC YOUNG

Joe started things off, then Young tagged in while Nash slowly returned to the ring apron. Nash then took a tag with Angle in the ring, and Angle scurried to his corner. Tomko took a tag and locked up with Nash, who dropped him with a big boot. Young took a tag and nailed an innovative wheelbarrow hold into a reverse neckbreaker. Angle and Nash eventually met up in the ring at 7:00 and Nash cleared Angle. The action broke down, then Young and Joe landed a combo dive on Styles and Tomko on the floor. Back in the ring, Angle slapped on the anklelock on Nash. Joe entered the ring to break up the hold, but paused. He then turned his back to Nash and Angle before dropping Angle right in the mouth with a superkick. Joe took an official hot tag and cleaned house. The action broke down and Nash landed the Jacknife powerbomb on Angle. Joe then worked with Young to take out Tomko before nailing the musclebuster on Tomko for the win.

Afterward, Joe, Nash, and Young circled around the ring. Nash left the ring while Joe stood with Young in center ring. Hebner wanted to get his big TV moment holding all three arms up in the air for the winners, but Joe told him to forget about Nash. Hebner left the ring while Joe and Young stood tall. On the outside, Karen helped Kurt to his feet and they slipped out from ringside. Joe pounded his chest toward the audience as they signed off.

WINNERS: Joe & Nash & Young in 10:00. Well, they obviously cut this one short due to Joe's promo. There was no energy for the match, as everyone in the building was thrown off. A rather interesting way to close TNA's 2007 PPV year. (*1/2)

Hall didn't show up at last night's PPV: Gee, what a surprise...NOT!

Source: PWTorch.com

-The word backstage on Scott Hall no-showing the PPV a few hours ago is that he had "food poisoning" and couldn't make the show. Of course there would be heat on him for it given that scenario, and because they apparently knew he was alive and no missing in a ditch somewhere, and consciously didn't make the show, there were pretty strong negative feelings toward him.

-It's not clear at this time whether Kevin Nash was legitimately upset with how he was grouped with Hall or not. He was said to be a good mood all things considered leading into the PPV.

-Rhino did suffer a legit neck injury in his last TNA match and is getting it checked out.

-Kaz cracked his skull in his tag match and Abyss needed stitches, but otherwise theren't any notable injuries.
