WWE Smackdown Results: 10-12-07

Conflicting interests
By Lennie DiFino
October 12, 2007

DETROIT – Jamie Noble certainly enjoyed the beginning of his Friday night as he sucked up to SmackDown’s Acting General Manager, Vickie Guerrero. Vickie was in good spirits after a phone call from Kristal had informed her that GM Theodore Long – who suffered a massive heart attack during his wedding ceremony last month – was getting stronger and could even return home by next week. But when Noble mistakenly compared the way she assumed Long’s responsibilities to the trick he played earlier on fellow cruiserweight Jimmy Wang Yang, Vickie decided to put an end to the self-proclaimed elite opportunist’s fun – by placing him in a match with The Great Khali. Coming off a monumental loss to Batista in the Punjabi Prison Match, the 7-foot-3 Punjabi Goliath showed his much smaller opponent no mercy whatsoever, dominating Noble before applying the vicious Khali Vise Grip for the victory.

Road bump
Chuck Palumbo has managed to remain undefeated since returning to SmackDown, and the revved-up Superstar kept his streak intact Friday with a huge victory over Chris Masters. Never one to be outdone, though, "The Masterpiece" jumped the motorcycle enthusiast before he and Michelle McCool could ride off into the sunset, then trapped Palumbo his signature Master Lock. Try as he could, the powerful Palumbo could not free himself, instead becoming victim to Masters’ unbreakable hold for the second consecutive week.

Faces of change
SmackDown’s newest tag team, Jesse & Festus, took part in more exciting tandem action Friday night after making their wildly successful debut last week. Jesse told our fans in the Joe Louis Arena that whenever Festus hears the bell, he transforms from his “normal, effervescent self” to a fierce tiger. It seemed young Jesse was right, because once the match started, Festus…well, that was a man who was all business, powering the duo to another impressive SmackDown win.

Fruit-ful confrontation
After Jamie Noble told Deuce & Domino that Jimmy Wang Yang allegedly had some not-so-nice things to say about Cherry, the two men from the Other Side of the Tracks became incensed. Cherry’s boyfriend Deuce confronted SmackDown’s resident redneck in the ring, but when Yang picked up the victory, Domino attacked immediately after the match. Unable to fight back, Yang was subjected to a humiliating series of slaps across the face from the usually neutral Cherry. Injury was then added to insult when he felt the brutality of a decapitating Crack 'em in da Mouth from the bomber-clad duo.

Scottish invasion
Friday Night SmackDown introduced our fans to its newest Superstar, Drew McIntyre, who faced Brett Major in his first match on The CW Network. Accompanied to the ring by Dave Taylor, McIntyre declared he is looking for dual citizenship and implored our fans to cheer for him with chants of “U-S-A.” McIntyre’s ring debut was a successful one, as a little outside distraction from Taylor enabled him to pick up a rollup win over Major. Our fans, however, weren’t so quick to comply with the Scotsman’s wishes.

Blood is thicker than bling
WWE Tag Team Champions Matt Hardy & MVP shook hands and agreed to get on the same page before they stepped into the ring with the Brothers of Destruction, Undertaker & Kane. But once they faced the fires of hell in their non-title match, both Hardy and MVP had very different ideas about what being on the same page meant.

Hard-fighting, high-flying
Rey Mysterio and Finlay’s bitter rivalry continued on SmackDown last Friday when the two Superstars squared off in a No. 1 Contender’s Match. The prize? An opportunity to challenge Batista for the World Heavyweight Championship at Cyber Sunday. The result? Nothing that either Superstar, or The Animal himself, was expecting.

Chuck Palumbo def. Chris Masters
Jesse & Festus def. Conrad Carnes & Jay Adams
Drew McIntyre def. Brett Major
Undertaker & Kane def. WWE Tag Team Champions Matt Hardy & United States Champion MVP (Non-title)
The Great Khali def. Jamie Noble

Last night's Smackdown was pretty good...for a change. Lots of tag-team wrestlers involved and the definite highlight were the Brothers of Destruction.

Now all they need to do is keep Batista off the mic and all would be good. He makes one lousy announcer :oh_no:

TNA Bound For Glory PPV Results: 10-14-07

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's real-time results)

1 -- TRIPLE X (SENSHI & ELIX SKIPPER) vs. LAX (HOMICIDE & HERNANDEZ) -- Ultimate X match

They added an issue before the match that the #1 Contender slot to the tag titles is on the line here. Hernandez, the most underutilized wrestler on the roster, looked like the 6 foot tall kid in fourth grade, just straight beating people up. Crowd is really hot for the match. Skipper hit a sick flying splash onto Hernandez from the top of the Ultimate X structure, but he couldn't recover to climb for the X in the center of the structure. Hernandez had enough of Skipper and gave him a Border Toss over the top rope onto everyone on the floor. He then hopped on the structure and climbed across before grabbing the X hanging in the center. He handed it down to Homicide to celebrate.

WINNERS: LAX in 12:00. Great way to open the show. Hot crowd. Great spots. Hernandez putting on another individual outstanding performance. (***)

2 -- FIGHT FOR THE RIGHT REVERSE BATTLE ROYALE DEALIE

When you're using a size 12 font for the graphic explaining the match, you know it's too complicated. Jimmy Rave and Lance Hoyt came out first. Next were Havok, Shark Boy, Petey Williams, Kaz, Sabin and Shelley, Guru, Kip and B.G., James Storm, Eric Young, Robert Roode, Chris Harris, and Junior Fatu. Slick Johnson is back on the roster sporting his soccer referee shorts. Fatu easily made it into the ring as the first one. Kaz brought Roode with him into the ring. Shelley made it in. Young fell into the ring. Sabin made it in. And none of this matters because they're doing a tournament on Impact and this match is only determining seeding. Storm was the last one into the ring, beating Harris by inches. And they flew eight of these men in for a meaningless match.

2b -- BATTLE ROYALE

Young tossed Storm over the top rope to the floor. Young and Fatu then shared a moment over Storm's beer and Fatu's booty. Fatu then stacked up four wrestlers in the corner and made a sandwich. Hoyt then took a stinkface, but he got up and smashed Fatu in the face with a big boot. They did the spot where everyone gangs up on the fat/tall guy and dumped Fatu to the floor. This led to Sabin and Shelley working over Hoyt with rapid-fire blows. Suddenly, Kaz kicked Sabin off the apron to the floor for an elimination. Roode then ended Kaz's night with a Rock Bottom from the apron to the floor. Hoyt got greedy going up top, and Roode shoved him off the top to the floor. Shelley was out next, giving us another Roode vs. Young match-up. The feud will simply never end.

2c -- ROBERT ROODE vs. ERIC YOUNG

After back and forth action for two minutes, Roode was about to hit the Payoff, but Young countered with a quick roll up for the win. Young gets the no. 1 seed in the tournament.

WINNER: Young in 12:00. Not as bad as the first reverse battle royale. It just didn't accomplish much other than determining seedings for a TV tournament, which certainly wasn't advertised for this match on TV leading to the PPV. (1/2*)

3 -- TEAM PACMAN (RON KILLINGS & CONSEQUENCES CREED w/Pacman Jones) vs. A.J. STYLES & TOMKO -- TNA Tag Title match

The new guy came out dressed like Apolo Creed from the Rocky movie series to date the show 20 years. Styles and Tomko worked babyface in Styles's home state, while Killings was booed when he took a tag from Creed. It looked like the old A.J. in the early going, not the lackey character he's been playing with Christian. The action broke down at 6:00, then Pacman pulled down the top rope, causing Tomko to fall to the floor. Suddenly, Killings flew over the top rope on top of Tomko and Creed. Styles remained in the ring and he measured all three men with a back flip splash on the floor. Tenay screamed at Keith Mitchell to show the replay. Pacman then pulled out a wad of cash and Styles stole it. Killings tried to roll up Styles from behind, but Styles threw the money in the air, distracting referee Hebner, who started scooping up the cash and stuffing it in his pocket. After that bit trying to get the heat on the ref, Tomko slammed Creed for the pin and the win for the belts.

WINNERS: Styles & Tomko in 10:00 to capture the TNA Tag Titles. Hopefully that ends the Pacman experiment. Match was good until the silly referee spot with the cash. (*3/4)

4 -- JAY LETHAL vs. CHRISTOPHER DANIELS -- X Division Title match

Daniels dominated the early portion of the match before they went into a rapid-fire sequence of counters and nearfalls. Daniels missed with a top rope huricanrana, then Lethal missed with a top rope elbow drop. Daniels took Lethal up top for an STO, but Lethal countered with a nice version of the Lethal Combination for the win to retain the belt.

WINNER: Lethal in 12:00 to retain the X Division Title. Nice, clean X Division match. Not memorable, though. Could have used more TV emphasis leading to the PPV to create an actual issue between the two. (**1/2)

5 -- SCOTT & RICK STEINER vs. BROTHER RAY & BROTHER DEVON -- 2 out of 3 Tables match

Team 3D came out second, and the Steiners met them on the walkway to start the fight in the entrance area. Scott was thirsty for beer, so he kept stealing people's beer to spit on the Dudleys. The fight spilled into the stands and they brawled among the fans, with the Steienrs dominating. Back in the ring, Team 3D shoved Scott to the outside, then put Rick through a table with the 3D to earn the first table spot. 3D tried to set up Scott for a top rope powerbomb, but Scott kicked Ray in the groin before going up top. He executed a Frankensteiner and Ray leaped across the ring to barely crack the table, apparently giving the Steiners the second table spot. Ray gave Scott a low blow, then he pulled off his belt and started whipping Scott. I'm surprised Ray's pants didn't fall down. They placed Scott on a table and the table broke, with Scott sliding off to the mat. The announcers covered that the person must be put through a table, as opposed to simply being placed on the table. The fans booed, then 3D brought another table into the ring. Suddenly, Shelley and Sabin came to ringside and distracted 3D. Devon then accidentally smashed Ray in the face with a chair. Scott then put Devon on his shoulders and Rick hit a top rope bulldog through a table for the win.

WINNERS: Steiners 2-1 in 14:00. Two old teams doing a stunt brawl, complete with an accidental broken table spot. (*)

6 -- TEN-WOMAN GAUNTLET MATCH -- Women's Title match

Ms. Brooks jiggled out to the ring and the rapid-fire camera shots made everyone nauseous. Ms. Jackie Moore came out second to start the match against Brooks. Shelly Martinez came out third after the first 60 seconds expired. Amazing Kong was out next, to a variation of Goldberg's music. Kong barely got into the ring when the next period of time expired and ODB walked out. Brooks, Martinez, and Jackie were then eliminated by Kong. Angel "Ashley Massaro" Williams came out next and tried to gang up on Kong, but she shoved both women away. Christy Hemme came out next and tried to run away from Kong, but she yanked Christy into the ring. Kong then put Christy up in the Torture Rack and bent her in half like a Thighmaster before smashing her with a powerbomb. Gail Kim came out next and went after Kong. Christy was apparently KO'ed, as medics came to ringside to check on her. The divas then ganged up on Kong and dumped her over the top rope, with Kong's top coming off on the way down. Fortunately, her top landed on top of her to prevent a full wardrobe malfunction. Talia Madison came out next, then Gail and ODB eliminated Angel. Roxxi then rounded out the field as the final participant. Talia was out, followed by ODB.

6B -- GAIL KIM vs. ROXXI LAVEAUX

Gail slapped on an octopus hold in center ring 30 seconds into the singles portion of the match, but Roxxi reached the ropes to break the hold. Gail then missed with a top rope dropkick and Roxxi scored a nearfall. Roxxi started to do her crazy gyrations, but Gail blocked a clothesline and hit a fallaway slam for the pin in two minutes of singles action. They have a white belt, ala the Women's Title that Madusa chucked in the trash on Nitro.

WINNER: Gail Kim in 13:00 to capture the Women's Title. Another battle royale-style match with a two-minute singles match. Nice win for Gail to get the first Women's Title, but it would have meant more if it was in a competitive 10-minute singles match. (*)

TNA Bound For Glory PPV Results: 10-14-07

7 -- SAMOA JOE vs. CHRISTIAN CAGE -- Matt Morgan special enforcer

Joe dominated early on and washed Christian's face with his boot before missing with a running boot to the face. Joe quickly recovered and went back to smash Christian in the face. West said Christian's streak appears to be over four minutes into the match. Joe then nailed a suicide dive elbow smash on the floor. He put Christian on a chair, then he hit a running Ole kick to the face and took the guardrail out in the process. Christian took control momentarily with a DDT on the floor, but Joe came back on the offensive in the ring with a sick clothesline. He took Christian to the corner for a Muscle Buster, but Christian slipped out. That didn't affect Joe, who nailed a big boot to the face and running sentaun splash for a nearfall. They teased finishers before Joe hit a snap powerslam for a nearfall. After Joe headbutted Christian to the floor, Tomko started walking out. Matt Morgan told him to get lost, but Tomko threw a right hand. Morgan and Tomko started having a fight, meanwhile, Styles came to ringside and tried to sneak in, but Morgan caught him and slammed him onto Tomko. Morgan then chased Styles and Tomko to the back. Back in the ring, Christian nailed a low blow on Joe and hit the Unprettier, but Joe kicked out facing dire circumstances to pop the crowd. Joe then escaped a rear naked choke from Christian and hit a big kick to the head. He followed with the Muscle Buster before slapping on a rear naked choke. Christian fought the hold before tapping out.

WINNER: Joe in 16:00. If you like seeing an ass-kicking from Samoa Joe, then this was the match for you. Brutal, explosive offense from Joe that was a flashback to 2005 when TNA capitalized on Joe's strength as a human weapon. One of Christian's better TNA matches, thanks to Joe carrying the match. 8 -- RHINO vs. RAVEN vs. BLACK REIGN DUSTIN RHODES vs. ABYSS -- Monster's Ball match

As usual, they did the deal where everyone starts fighting before Abyss comes out as the final participant. Tenay and West presented this as a brawl without any purpose to actually win a match. It would be like having a henchmen contest on a Batman episode to see who can go through the most amount of weapons or props. They did a spot on the ramp where Rhino missed a Gore through the stage and he fell to the floor. Raven, busted open, argued with Reign over who should splash Abyss on a table below the bleachers. Raven had enough of Reign's hesitation and dove onto Abyss himself. Raven tried to break his fall on the way down, but sold an arm injury. The fight moved to the ring and Reign hit the Golden Globes kick to the crotch on Raven. And West commented: "He just creamed him in the balls." There is no filter on this man. Suddenly, James Mitchell emerged with a bag and he told Raven to finish off Abyss. Raven took the bag and dumped some glass on top of thumbtacks. Raven went for a DDT, but Abyss countered with a Black Hole Slam into the weapon concoction. Abyss then covered Raven for the win. Naturally, Mitchell was pissed after the match and he shook with rage on the stage.

WINNER: Abyss in 10:00. Another gimmick stunt brawl that's just another ten minutes of action to fill another PPV, and will be quickly forgotten by this week's TV taping. (*1/2)

9 -- KURT ANGLE vs. STING -- TNA World Hvt. Title match

Sting dominated the early going, surprising Angle. The action settled into a tug-of-war before both men landed double clotheslines. They reached their feet and exchanged right hand blows before Sting landed a spinebuster for a nearfall. Sting then hit two Stinger splashes before landing a running bulldog. Sting curiously went up top and Angle quickly ran up to the corner for a top rope belly-to-belly suplex. Angle followed with three German Suplexes for a nearfall. He slapped on the anklelock, but Sting made a nice counter to the Scorpion Deathlock in center ring. Suddenly, Karen Angle came to ringside and jumped on the apron to distract Sting. Kevin Nash then showed up while the ref was distracted by Karen being arrested for violating the restraining order. Nash nailed Sting with a clothesline, then Angle hit the Olympic Slam. He couldn't get a cover, as the ref was occupied with Karen. With Sting prone on the mat, Angle went up top and nearly fell off the top rope before hitting an ugly flip splash with his knees crashing into Sting. Sting kicked out, then Angle slapped on the ankle lock. Sting then flipped Angle into Nash, who standing by the apron. The ref was then KO'ed and Sting hit the Scorpion Death drop. He had a pin, and a second ref came out, but Nash yanked him out and nailed him on the floor. Nash then entered the ring and started pounding on Sting. Sting ducked a clothesline, and clotheslined Angle and Nash. Angle came back with a low blow on Sting, though. Angle tried to use Sting's baseball bat, but Sting stole it and smashed Angle in the face. Nash took a crotch ride on the top rope, then Sting dropped Angle with the Scorpion death drop. He covered Angle and the original ref awoke, counting a three count for Sting to win the belt. Afterward, Sting celebrated with the belt until they went off the air.

WINNER: Sting in 20:00 to capture the TNA Title. No surprise on the bag of tricks to help create the drama, but at least there was some logic behind it based on the storyline created on TV and throughout the PPV. Match was actually going quite well before the WCW-style run-ins, with both men bringing good athleticism to the ring. Depending on when the title change was planned out, it gives the appearance of a political decision. (***1/4)

Ol' Dirty Bitch.

Ashley went to TNA and so did Awesome Kong (or Amazing Kong in Zero-One wrestling in Japan). Amazing Kong is an excellent wrestler and she can hang with the men! I saw a match from Zero-One where her and Steve Corino went against Spanky and Saki Maemura and she wasn't half bad. Go look for this match on youtube.

WWE RAW Results: 10-15-07

United Kingdom Come
By Greg Adkins
October 17, 2007
UNITED KINGDOM – Hardcore Holly continues to play professor to the young upstart Cody Rhodes. This Monday night marked the third time Rhodes has challenged the six-time Hardcore Champion and the third time he’s been taught a lesson in humility.

This week the tenacious Rhodes battled valiantly for the capacity crowd at England’s Birmingham National Indoor Arena, displaying flashes of brilliance and a never-say-die attitude. Unfortunately for Rhodes, Holly’s experience proved too difficult to overcome.

However, Rhodes continued his pursuit of excellence despite the odds. After suffering a harsh beating from the veteran, Rhodes gave as good as he got, scoring five near-pinfalls before succumbing to an Alabama Slammer from Holly.

Has Holly had enough of schooling the rookie? Or is Rhodes’ dogged determination finally earning him the respect of the Hardcore veteran?

In other developments on Raw:

Venis Eclipsed
Last time Santino Marella had to face Val Venis, the Italian arranged for a substitute in the form of the yuck-mouthed monster himself, Snitsky. This Monday night, though, Marella and Venis went head-to-head. The former Intercontinental Champion proved his in-ring abilities outweighed his singing chops when he defeated the former adult-film star as his “girlfriend” Maria looked on.

Candy-coated Comeback
Anyone wondering whether or not Candice Michelle could bounce back from the loss of the Women’s Championship to Beth Phoenix had their doubts put to rest Monday night. Despite losing the gold at No Mercy, Candice continues to display heaps of heart, this week defeating fellow Diva Jillian Hall. At the conclusion of the match, the Glamazon announced that the Candy-coated Diva had invoked her rematch clause. The two will battle for the Women’s Championship next Monday, and Phoenix has promised to bring the Candy-coated Diva to her knees.

Plaid About You
Highlander Rory McAllister faced off against Brian Kendrick in a singles match, giving their respective tag partners the night off. Robbie McAllister and Paul London watched ringside as their partners did battle. Also observing the bout ringside was reigning World Tag Team Champions Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch, who called the Highlanders the “most improved tag team of the year.” As if to drive home the point, Rory slammed Kendrick to the mat and chalked up the win.

Ring of Fire
Poor Jonathan Coachman. The conniving Raw Executive Assistant can't seem to grasp how Hornswoggle outsmarts him time and time again. Still on "manny" duty, Coachman had his hands full again Monday night. Mr. McMahon's newest son had Coachman chase him down on bike, through the Divas locker room and finally down to the ring, where their explosive hijinx looked like a scene out of a Looney Tunes episode.

Hardy Grounded
Randy Orton got off to an inauspicious start with Raw General Manager William Regal after dubbing audience members “English rogues.” The British GM took umbrage and arranged three matches for the WWE Champion against his three possible Cyber Sunday opponents: Jeff Hardy, Mr. Kennedy and Shawn Michaels.

First up to make his case for facing Orton at Cyber Sunday was the “Rainbow-haired Warrior.” Hardy soared several times during the match, knocking the Legend Killer on his back. As the aerial acrobat prepared to drop a Swanton Bomb onto the Champion, Cyber Sunday rival Mr. Kennedy decided to make his presence known.

The Ego Has Landed
When the time came for Mr. Kennedy to tangle with the Legend Killer, the loudmouth from Green Bay, Wis., had his elevated ego shot down in flames. In retaliation for Mr. Kennedy’s earlier interference, Hardy charged the ring and played some dirty Cyber Sunday politics of his own.

Nighty-Night, Randy
In his third match of the evening, Orton met up with the returning Shawn Michaels, the man who put him to sleep last week with a lullaby of Sweet Chin Music. This week, HBK was determined to send the Legend Killer off to slumber land again. But with Cyber Sunday less than two weeks away, Mr. Kennedy and then Jeff Hardy had something to say about that, especially to impressionable WWE voters.

Hardcore Holly def. Cody Rhodes
Santino Marella def. Val Venis
Candice Michelle def. Jillian Hall
Rory McAllister def. Brian Kendrick
Randy Orton def. Jeff Hardy (Non-title Match)
Randy Orton def. Mr. Kennedy (disqualification, Non-title Match)
Randy Orton def. Shawn Michaels (disqualification, Non-title Match)

ECW on Sci-Fi Results: 10-16-07

Setting the night on fire
By Andrew Rote
October 16, 2007
UNITED KINGDOM – Big Daddy V, The Miz and John Morrison had to set aside their differences quickly as they had to curtail their campaigns to take on CM Punk and a partner of his choosing in a 3-on-2 Handicap Match.

Taking advantage of his freedom of choice, the ECW Champion selected the Big Red Machine, Kane. SmackDown’s monster ignited the evening, turning Morrison and The Miz against each other, sealing the victory for his team with a devastating chokeslam on the self-proclaimed "chick magnet."

Speaking of SmackDown Superstars on ECW on Sci Fi, Vickie Guerrero met with Armando Estrada, making it clear that she expects him to return the favor of lending Kane and Jesse & Festus by sending some ECW Superstars to SmackDown. Jesse & Festus broke onto the scene with a convincing win over Elijah Burke & Nunzio. Perhaps most impressive in their win was the exploding force Festus employed between the bells. How will Estrada repay the favor? What impact will SmackDown's success on ECW on Sci Fi have on the Land of the Extreme?

At Cyber Sunday, our fans' dreams come alive and on ECW on Sci Fi, Balls Mahoney’s dream came true. Despite knowing the consequences that she may face, Kelly Kelly asked Balls out. She now can only wait for the fate that lies ahead, courtesy of the holder of her contract, The Miz.

On Tuesday night, The Miz had bigger things on his mind than Kelly’s love life. He and Morrison went to settle their differences in the main event, only to see their match interrupted by attacks from the behemoth, Big Daddy V. CM Punk’s opponent will be decided by you, but the biggest performance of the three undoubtedly belongs to Daddy.

Matches
ECW Champion CM Punk & Kane def. The Miz, John Morrison & Big Daddy V (3-on-2 Handicap Match)
Jesse & Festus def. Elijah Burke & Nunzio
John Morrison vs. The Miz (no contest)

WWE News and stuff...

The following is from WWE.com:

WWE has come to terms on the release of WWE Superstar Booker T and WWE Diva Sharmell as of October 27. We wish both Booker & Sharmell he best in all their future endeavors.

He was suspended due to the Wellness policy however showed little interest of returning. His wife wanted to get into a business career plus Booker saved most of his earnings from wrestling over the years so he's financially well off.

Also from WWE.com:

WWE has come to terms on the release of Raw Superstar Shawn Daivari. We wish Daivari the best in all his future endeavors.

After that terrorist angle and his departing from the Great Khali, he never got back into sync.

One more from WWE.com:

WWE.com has learned that several meetings have taken place between Acting SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero and ECW General Manager Armando Estrada that, if ratified, would allow SmackDown and ECW Superstars to compete on Tuesday and Friday nights.

While nothing is signed as of yet, locker room sources say that this open door agreement between Vickie and Estrada will be discussed tonight, live on ECW on Sci Fi. No further details have been released, and when pressed for more information, Estrada was tight-lipped (a rarity in its own right).

“I have no news for you right now,” said Estrada. “But tonight on ECW on Sci Fi (10/9 CT), I will give some insight into these meetings.”

To the fans of Booker T...

We want to begin by thanking the many wonderful WWE fans that we have had the privilege of entertaining over the last eight years. Sharmell and I have enjoyed the opportunity to put smiles on your faces night after night. We also want to thank everyone in the wrestling community for their support of our very own P.W.A. (Pro Wrestling Alliance). The dream of bringing professional wrestling back to my home town of Houston, Texas is coming to fruition, and we have you to thank for it.

I want to address something that has been on my mind for quite some time now in regards to my recent suspension from WWE. I want to state for the record that I was not taking any illegal substance, or anything outside of my physician's care, and that the suspension was unwarranted. However, rather than fight the suspension or publicly voice my discontent, I used this recent hiatus to rest, work with the P.W.A., and reflect on the direction of my career as a professional wrestler. I also, for the record, have never at any time ordered anything from "Signature Pharmacy". This allegation is upsetting, and the careless and slanderous reporting of this matter is currently being addressed by my legal counsel.

I would like to also address any possible rumors or misinformation regarding our release from WWE. I had been unhappy for quite some time with the direction that the Company was going in. In fact, I asked for my release back in July for that very reason. However, after further contemplation, I decided to continue on with WWE because of my passion for this industry and my desire to entertain the fans. Unfortunately, it quickly became apparent that my unhappiness with my work environment was beginning to take a great toll on other aspects of my life. I knew that it was time to make some extremely tough decisions. Therefore, in the interest of my mental, physical, and spiritual well being, I along with my wife, asked for our release from World Wrestling Entertainment for the second time within months. We were graciously granted our release and we have since amicably parted ways. While the business relationship between ourselves and the WWE has ended, we will continue to be involved in Professional Wrestling. We hope that our loyal fans will follow us as we make this transition.

Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts, and we will see you soon!

Is ECW done?!!

Source: Rob Kamphausen's Forum: Sports and Wresting (direct link) via F4Wonline.com

- In another huge story coming out of WWE, it appears that the SmackDown and ECW brands will be merging to an extent. This comes as a direct result of TV discussions between WWE and NBC/Universal not going so good. WWE and The Sci-Fi Network's deal expires at the end of this year and so far, Sci-Fi has shown signs that they might not re-sign.

Since ECW's premiere on the network in June of 2006, the ratings have dropped from a 2.79 to a 1.1 and 1.2 in the past two weeks, which are bad numbers for Sci-Fi original programming. The ECW program could be considered by some as just a step above Heat or Velocity, as just another C-level show. Bad wrestling and bad booking can obviously be linked to the ratings slump.

Vince McMahon sent out the order on Monday to make the ECW program more appealing to The Sci-Fi Network. The original plan was to just send Kane over to ECW and have him go back to the psycho "See No Evil" persona. Their are creative meetings being planned for Thursday and Friday of this week regarding the merging of the two brands permanently. As previously posted, WWE.com posted storyline messages about meetings between Vickie and Estrada about the brands coming together before ECW went on the air Tuesday.

On Monday, the idea was that ECW head writer Dusty Rhodes and assistant writer Jen Bloodsworth would be in charge of making ECW a success. As of Tuesday, the belief is that Dusty Rhodes and SmackDown writer Michael Hayes are now in charge of the new combined ECW/SD brand. ECW writer Dave Lagana will be losing most of his power outside of actually writing the scripts for the shows. As usual, all things that are talked about are subject to change at any time. One source close to the situation says "you name it, they're considering it right now".

- Vince McMahon is going through with the whole SmackDown/ECW merger in hopes of The Sci-Fi Network renewing their contract or atleast extending it. Unless things change for the better, the show will not be renewed at all or it will be renewed but under very favorable terms for the Sci-Fi/Universal side. Bonnie Hammer is in charge of Sci-Fi and USA. The future of ECW will be a good indication as to where Hammer sees the WWE/USA Network relationship. As previously posted, Hammer has sent requests to WWE for them to improve the product.

WWE won't be going out of business of course, but this could be just another major bump in the road for WWE and Vince McMahon. With all the bad TV news, WWE probably won't have much leverage when it comes time to negotiate a new deal with the USA Network which could mean them re-signing to much lower money than they received when they signed in 2005, which could have a negative impact overall.

ugh if only benoit hadn't gone apeshit, ECW wouldn't be in this boat.

they needed a big star on there and he was the one to get after they'd gotten rid of lashley. we need someone big on there again. kane might be just the right man. CM punk can't carry the whole brand.

I MIGHT go to Booker T's school while i'm in Houston this weekend. I'm interviewing some of the wrestlers from his school! Ooh, I can't wait! :buttrock:

As for ECW, good riddance. Quite frankly, it was destined to fail even before RVD, Sabu, and Benoit fucked up. There wern't that many originals to begin with; there were no REAL ECW style matches like Paul Heyman created (or drama even); and the fact that Raw and Smackdown kept interfering made it less appealing. They might as well pull the plug. :oh_no:
