oh, now they try to prevent another eddie, benoit, or lex luger from happening. too little too late vince. his superstars get fucked over on painkillers, then roids, then alcohol, and mental breakdown. maybe you should have been a little kinder to guys like rob van dam and helped them out too vince. in all honesty the best thing to happen to former and current WWE performers isn't vince's rehab clinic. it's retirement. it's getting released, it's getting sent to prison (luger) it's getting out.

I think too it's all a publicity act to get Vinny back in good with everyone. :oh_no:

BTW, here's a recent interview with Rob Van Dam and the reasons he's not in wrestling anymore. Article link courtesy of Rob Kamphausen's Message Board: Sports and Wrestling sub-forum)

Simulcast online at BetweenTheRopes.com

On Wednesday night, September 12, Rob Van Dam joined hosts Brian Fritz and Vito DeNucci live on Between The Ropes on Central Florida's Sports Radio 740 The Team for an in depth discussion on the reasons for his departure from WWE, his feelings on the revived ECW, possibly working for TNA, and much more.

Rob started out the interview by saying his life is great and he wants "everyone to know I feel fine. Though it does suck getting written out with a concussion because I've always been out to prove I'm tougher than anybody else. That's why I do my style, because I'm tough enough to take it. So it sucks going out with an injury, but I wanted out so bad when they suggested it I said 'There's my exit, I'm out of here."

Next Rob confirmed that he left on good terms with the WWE. "There are a lot of things I'm interested in, but right now wrestling isn't one of them. If I was interested of course I would consider WWE."

Rob then discussed how the WWE's full time schedule "doesn't have any appeal to me right now. I hated the traveling for years and it got worse toward the end. The more burned out I got, and the less heart I had for it, the more challenging it got. I had pains in my chest when I had to leave my house." Rob also said that as soon as he got home he would start panicing as he started to count down the hours until the next time he had to board an airplane for a WWE event.

Rob admitted that he got to the point where he would have to talk himself onto getting on the plane. "If you're young, or really stoked to be there you can do it and put a smile on your face. But, if you start to lose a little bit of your passion for it, if it's not as much fun, or if it just becomes business for you…it makes it so much more challenging."

Rob then went into detail about the chaotic travel schedule he faces by living on the west coast. Rob noted that there are two nights a week that he doesn't sleep at all and that "when I told them that I was burned out and I needed time off it seemed like I was getting booked more…It got to be offensive to me when nobody was listening to me. I still don't think anybody knew I was leaving until the last day. I was telling them, I just don't think they were hearing it."

When asked how long he had been burned out Rob replied that during his career he has gone through a lot of cycles where he was burned out. "The first time I got burned out was before I left ECW. Up to that point my whole career was on a constant rise…there was a point when I was leaving ECW where I knew they were sinking, I knew the longer I stayed the more in debt they would be to me…I couldn't continue to keep going to work and not have the amount that was owed to me come back to me." Despite this Rob said he didn't want to come to WWE at the time and that he often questioned whether he should stay there.

Rob then noted a positive turning point when he "talked to Vince about that first ECW One Night Stand. Vince was listening to me and I got to be seen, at least for that one night, the way I want to be seen. I though 'Now I'm motivated.' Then after that it was back down hill. The next year it comes back around and this time we're talking about brining ECW back. I was super stoked and energized…Everyone was saying to me 'Rob, we could tell you were so happy out there' and I loved it. Then, with the return of ECW I started seeing the way it was going and that really started to frustrate me. When I talked to the office about that and saw that their vision for ECW was noting like my vision for it that was pretty much the last passion I had. It got stomped out and after that it was all pretty much downhill for me.

Asked if he regrets suggesting to Vince to bring back ECW, Rob said he doesn't and then gave two reasons why. First, Rob said that at the first ECW One Night Stand he actually got to speak what was on his mind for only the second time in WWE. Secondly, Rob described winning the title from John Cena at the second ECW One Night Stand as the highlight of his career and an irreplaceable moment.

Rob then went further into WWE's vision of what the new ECW should be. He said "it was never the office's plan to cater to the original ECW crowd, but rather to show this new ECW to a new crowd. That's what was said to me straight from the top. That was always the view and they never had any desire or any plans to make it anything goes. Even thought when it first came back they were like 'It's ECW, anything goes' when they started the regular TV show they were like, 'no, that was never the plan.'

"I've always felt that the reason (the original) ECW was so different was because it stood for 'anti-McMahon' as far as his ways, his ideas, and his business. I think that has a lot to do with why it was brought back and destroyed."

Asked if the WWE front office thought that they could convert old ECW fans into liking the new product by tapping into the old ECW wrestlers and venues Rob said "No, they didn't. I was told, from the man, 'Rob, for all I know those 2,500 fans at the Manhattan Ball Room are the last of the old ECW fans.' That's the kind of ego we're dealing with. I asked him why the crowd chants 'ECW' when they see something extreme?' and he replied 'because I spent the last five years training them to do that."

Talk then turned to Paul Heyman. Rob said "I don't think the higher ups respected him for the most part. I think they acknowledged that he accomplished something that bewildered them." Rob went on to say that the front office didn't really think that Heyman had achieved any measurable standard of success with the original ECW. Rob then credited Paul for the respect he gained from the wrestlers themselves even as he was bouncing checks to them at times.

On the topic of his title run, Rob said he did not really think it was possible until it actually happened. He described his run with the title as a fun time and said that it was one time where Vince was actually listening to him, at least early on. However, after a while nobody was listening to him anymore so he eventually stopped talking because it wasn't doing any good.

Asked about how he felt about dropping the titles after his run in with the police on marijuana charges Rob said he was sorry that the situation happened at that time, but he never got to a point where he felt he should issue a public apology. He said that his only major regret was that he had disappointed Vince and interfered with his plans for the business, but "everything happens for a reason."

As to his treatment after retuning from his marijuana suspension, Rob said that he was never disrespected, but the climb back up to the top of the card was long and frustrating. He then said "when I did get back up there they had the elimination chamber match, which to me was the first official death of the original ECW. When I got beat and Bobby Lashley was the new front guy for the promotion that's when my heart checked out.

On the possibility of going to TNA Rob said "it would definitely be worth considering, definitely as far as the schedule goes…If I was coming back I would look at everything. I would look at WWE and TNA and compare them, weighing the lighter schedule against prestige, exposure, and possibly money.

The interview concluded with Rob being asked what he has been doing since he finished with WWE. Rob said he has been working on a lot of projects which he can't speak about just yet. He then said he will come back on the show sometime in the next few weeks to announce and talk about these new projects.

It's a network thing. Every show has to have a season premiere. It's the unwritten rule of the television world :loco:

TNA's newest monster, Judas Mesias, is said to be hurt bad. Mesias was injured at last Sunday's Verano de. Escandalo in Mexico. Mesias jumped from the top of a ladder which was in the middle of the ring, to the outside floor. Nobody was there to break Mesias fall and he got knocked out. On top of that, Mesias is currently suffering from sciatica and needs a few weeks of rest and physical therapy to heal.

Nothing like come on to a wrestling organization as a major part of a storyline only to injure yourself big time :oh_no:

Don't look for Marcus Cor Von to make a return to the ring anytime soon. The Alpha Male was released from WWE on 9/19 after taking some time off for family issues. It's believed he is taking care of his sister's children after one of his sisters passed away. At this point, many believe he may be done with wrestling altogether.

Raw gets Hardcore with Holly's return
By Corey Clayton
September 24, 2007

MILWAUKEE – After five months off with a broken arm, Hardcore Holly was ready to make his mark in the ring.

And in a town famous for its beer, trouble was brewing for Cody Rhodes at the hands of the returning ring veteran. As punishment for disobeying Acting General Manager Jonathan Coachman and attacking Randy Orton last week on Raw, Rhodes faced the returning former six-time Hardcore Champion in his first match back.

Holly chided Rhodes in the ring before their match.

“With a name like that, you should be in a boy band and not in a wrestling ring,” Holly said. “You don’t get my respect based on your name. If you want my respect, you need to earn it.”

The young Rhodes didn’t back down from the returning veteran, pelting him with punches and dropkicks. But Holly was able to dodge Rhodes’ springboard plancha attempt, then finish him off with a powerful Alabama Slam.

With an impressive return, Holly put the Raw locker room on notice that he’s back and better than ever.

In other Raw action:

Tag turmoil

Paul London & Brian Kendrick knew that a victory over World Tag Team Champions Lance Cade &Trevor Murdoch in a non-title contest would ensure them a title match next week on Raw. As Kendrick had Murdoch covered for the pinfall, The Highlanders came in and beat down Kendrick & London, causing a disqualification. The Scottish cousins were upset that they weren’t granted a title opportunity, and wanted to thwart London & Kendrick’s chance for yet another title match.

Italian iced

Santino Marella and Ron Simmons squared off in an attempt to settle their recent rivalry over Santino’s girlfriend, Maria. But after taking a pummeling from the former three-time World Tag Team Champion, Marella fled. Maria implored Marella to return to the ring, but Marella took Maria’s arm and led her away, conceding the “damn” count-out to Simmons.

Flying high

Beth Phoenix continued to show her dominance over Raw Divas and put Women’s Champion Candice Michelle on notice when she and Shelton Benjamin defeated the championship pair of Women’s Champion Candice Michelle & Intercontinental Champion Jeff Hardy. As the men battled outside the ring, the Glamazon hit a distracted Candice from behind, and then flattened her with powerful cradle suplex to pick up the pinfall.

Handicap cage

Triple H came into Raw thinking he’d only have Carlito to deal with inside the 15-foot-high steel cage. But as payback for The Game’s humiliating treatment, Mr. McMahon added himself to the cage match and won the match for Carlito and himself, escaping over the top.

Mini-mayhem

Hornswoggle had an eyeful of action all night long, pairing up with the vivacious Melina. The A-list Diva seemed interested in the little love machine at first, but then revealed that Coachman had promised her a Women’s Championship opportunity if she took the leprechaun out.

Feeling Green

WWE Champion John Cena was told to keep his hands off of Acting Raw GM Jonathan Coachman, but couldn’t resist charging through security to get his hands on him. As Coachman prepared to strip Cena of his title, Mr. McMahon stepped in and overruled the GM, ordering him to face The Champ in a Tables Match. But it wasn’t the “Mr. McMahon” you might be thinking of.

Matches
Hardcore Holly def. Cody Rhodes
Ron Simmons def. Santino Marella (count out)
Mr. McMahon & Carlito def. Triple H (Handicap Steel Cage Match, McMahon escaped cage)
Paul London & Brian Kendrick def. World Tag Team Champions Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch (disqualification, non-title)
Beth Phoenix & Shelton Benjamin def. Women's Champion Candice Michelle & Intercontinental Champion Jeff Hardy (Mixed Tag Team Match)
WWE Champion John Cena def. Jonathan Coachman (Tables Match, non-title)

ECW on Sci-Fi Results: 9-25-07

And then there were two…
By Andrew Rote
September 25, 2007

INDIANAPOLIS - Elijah Burke is licking his lips as No Mercy comes closer and closer. After stealing the win in the Fatal Four Way last week, Burke once again notched the pin, covering Kevin Thorn for the three-count in the opening Triple Threat Match. Now, only Tommy Dreamer stands between ECW’s Guiding Light and his second ECW Championship opportunity. With the experience and heart that the ECW Original brings to the table, however, that could be much easier said than done… especially when he managed to beat the odds and survive against two ruthless competitors in Burke and Thorn thus far.

If these two potential challengers aren’t enough to occupy his mind, ECW Champion CM Punk apparently has a very big problem in the Land of the Extreme… literally. After teaching Matt Striker a lesson and earning a victory in the main event, the Straightedge Superstar was almost turned into a straight-edged pancake when Big Daddy V squashed him with a splash. Did the beast prove that he is the ECW Champion's daddy?

In other ECW on Sci Fi action, The Miz kept alive his solo undefeated record since joining ECW. When his three beautiful escorts came to celebrate with him, however, the party was cut short, as Balls Mahoney asked Kelly Kelly if she would go out with him, for a second straight week. Unfortunately, just like the previous week, the answer remains unclear… Before a smiling Kelly could answer, The Miz responded for her with a blow to Mahoney's mouth with the microphone. Kelly quickly rushed to his side, checking on Mahoney’s condition, only to be pulled away as always by the self-proclaimed chick magnet and the rest of Extreme Exposé.

Also on Tuesday night, Mike Knox made up for last week’s disappointing loss when he defeated Nunzio in convincing fashion.

Matches
Elijah Burke def. Kevin Thorn and Tommy Dreamer (Triple Threat)
Mike Knox def. Nunzio
Miz def. Local
CM Punk def. Matt Striker

TNA Impact! Results: 9-27-07

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's report)

1 -- TEAM 3D (BROTHER RAY & BROTHER DEVON) vs. THE GURU SONJAY DUTT & SHARK BOY

Guru did his act before the match and Brother Ray wasn't very convinced by the peace and love act. The humungous Devon started things off with Shark Boy and dominated him with chops before Shark Boy bit him on the rear end. Ray did a mock laugh, then Shark Boy bit him on the rear end. Ray and Devon started arguing, so Shark Boy nailed a top rope dropkick on both men. Guru tagged in and offered a handshake to Ray, who hitched up his pants and shook the hand. Guru gave the shake a kiss, then Ray rubbed his shoulders with a smile. Ray went for a kiss himself, but Devon screamed at him. Ray ignored him and planted a kiss before clotheslining Guru hard to the mat. Ray then picked up Dutt and hugged him before landing a hard chop to the chest. Shark Boy then came into the ring with a tambourine and smashed Devon across the head. Apparently it's No DQ. Guru and Shark Boy then set up the top rope headbutt to Ray's crotch and Shark Boy nailed the headbutt. They tried to get the tables, but Devon landed a double clothesline on the cute little babyfaces. Team 3D then finished off Shark Boy with a 3D for the win. Afterward, Team 3D grabbed chairs and tried to crunch Shark's neck with a conchairto, but Guru dragged Shark Boy out of the ring to save him from damage.

WINNERS: Team 3D in 6:00. An attempt at comedy by Team 3D before getting serious with the 3D and post-match beating on Sharkie. Just a tag match. (*)

Backstage, Jeremy Borash plugged some sort of deal with the fans being able to dictate what's going on in TNA. Borash said the texting option this week is to vote on whether there should be an automatic re-match clause for Sting vs. Angle at the PPV. VKM then interrupted. (They're still on the roster?) B.G. said they've run through every tag team in TNA and just because someone can do a back flip doesn't mean he's a pro wrestler. He said he takes dumps bigger than some of the guys on the roster. He shot the bird to the camera and said they don't need the wrestling fans. He said they're marks who don't know what the VKM is capable of. B.G. called Borash a mark, then said the fans are on the other side of the curtain for a reason. (Boy, I can't remember the last time anyone paid enough attention to an irrelevant tag team like VKM to "inspire" this promo.) Kip said he's glad B.G. is finally pissed off. He said they are superstars and the fun and games are over. Ah, they done called out Team 3D. He said the fans can kiss his ass.

[Commercial Break]

Jeremy Borash, the mark, was given instructions to find Sting. He could not find him. He's nowhere to be found.

2 -- LANCE HOYT & JIMMY RAVE (w/Christy Hemme) vs. ALEX SHELLEY & CHRIS SABIN

Sabin and Shelley are apparently the faces here. And Don West can't tell them apart. Sabin and Shelley started things off by working on Jimmy Rave. Hoyt then landed a knee to the back on Shelley, giving Rave and Hoyt control. Hemme wet her lips while Hoyt worked on Shelley. Shelley then regained control and tagged out to Sabin, who ran around the ring on the heels. He hit a springboard clothesline on Rave for a nearfall. The action broke down as the fans started their 18th chant of the match. Rave then slapped on a double submission hold in center ring, but he couldn't maintain the hold on two men. Rave was cleared from the ring, then Sabin and Shelley double-teamed Hoyt with an enziguiri kick combo to score a pin on Hoyt.

After the match, Hemme and Hoyt argued, then Team 3D hit the ring and attacked Sabin and Shelley. Ray gave Shelley a piledriver, then Devon went for a table as they cut to break.

WINNERS: Shelley & Sabin in 7:00. Decent TV tag match, but Hoyt and Rave have the chemistry of Undertaker and Mark Henry in a PPV main event. Too bad Shelley and Sabin couldn't go one night without being beaten up by a larger tag team that spent significant time on WWE TV. (*)

[Commercial Break]

Team 3D was setting up a table in center ring as they returned to the action. Shark Boy tried to make a save, but he was quickly thwarted. Ray then put Shelley through Sabin and a table with a top rope powerbomb. They ripped off Shark Boy's neckbrace, then hit a conchairto to the neck, allowing Tenay to give us an anatomy lesson on the neck region.

Borash was in Sting's usual interview location, but still no sign of Sting. No answer yet.

Ringside, Tenay and West ignored Borash and plugged the two-hour switch next week. West, of course, told us to check out Playboy with Leticia on the cover. They cut to another shot of Tenay and West plugging the Bound for Glory PPV.

Four of the five knockouts and their male partners came out for a five-way divas match. The male partners are in the fight for your right match at the PPV.

[Commercial Break]

Gail Kim rounded out the five participants and she was accompanied by Chris Harris.

3 -- MS. BROOKS (w/Robert Roode) vs. MS. JACKIE MOORE (w/James Storm) vs. ROXXI LEVEAUX (w/VKM) vs. CHRISTY HEMME (w/Lance Hoyt and Jimmy Rave) vs. GAIL KIM (w/Chris Harris)

Winner of the match earns the final spot in the gauntlet match for the Women's Title at the PPV. Roxxi walked around the ring as if she were blindfolded, and Gail worked on all the divas. Christy then missed with what West called a flying fire crotch guillotine legdrop from the top rope. They blew a spot as Tenay said the TNA knockouts are head-and-shoulders above the competition in the ring. Suddenly, they set up a five-way spot in the corner and Christy took the suplex out of the Tower of Doom spot. Roxxi then erratically tossed Brooks over the top rope to the floor and Brooks smacked her back on the edge of the ring apron. Roode and Harris then started fighting on the outside. Harris stumbled backward and bumped into Storm to spill his beer. Rave and Hoyt started brawling with the other three, then back to the divas. Gail hit a huracanrana on Roxxi, then Kip stepped into the ring and distracted Gail. That gave Roxxi the opening to drop Gail with a pumphandle slam for the win.

WINNER: Roxxi in 6:00. Not even the knockout matches are spared from outside interference in TNA. Good to see VKM is done with the fun and games to help their valet win a match instead of focusing on taking out tag teams like Team 3D is doing. Some encouraging moments in the match to show flashes of what a TNA women's division can be. (3/4*)

[Commercial Break]

They recapped some of the feuds going into the PPV, and two hours of TV starting next week.

They aired a video package on the foul stench of death surrounding this man's presence. He was born into wickedness and sin. His eyes are empty of humanity. Vengeance is his identity. He is pure, unadulterated hate. He is a being incapable of betrayal. He is death and hell follows with him. Impact quiz: was this a Judas Mesias or Dustin Rhodes promo? Text Judas or Dustin to TNA Mobile. Don't let Jeremy B. down.

They cut backstage where Mitchell, Judas, and Borash were waiting for Sting. He showed up by bumping the camera and dropping Judas into a mattress-like foam sheet. Judas quickly recovered and attacked Sting.

[Commercial Break]

Sting had regained control during the break. Sting landed a chair shot to the back as they brawled to the ringside area. Sting used a fire extinguisher to push Judas over the guardrail to the ringside area. Back in the ring, Sting avoided a dropkick and slapped on a Scorpion Deathlock. Suddenly, Kurt Angle stormed the ring and attacked Sting. Rhino then hit the ring to save Sting. Angle quickly took Rhino down, though, and landed right hand blows to the head. Karen Angle, who was arrested last week by guys wearing "Police" t-shirts and apparently got off scot-free, watched from the entrance ramp. Abyss then hit the ring and cleared the heels from the ring. He stood tall in the ring with Sting and Rhino trying to recover to their feet.

Is it just me or was that women's match actually kinda awesome? Yes the interference could have been left out but the spots some of the girls used and the bumps some of them took just amazed me. When the match started I didnt think they were gonna be worth a damn ESPECIALLY Roxxi but I was quite impressed by the end of it.

WWE Smackdown Results: 9-28-07

All things big and small
By Lennie DiFino
September 28, 2007

INDIANAPOLIS – The “half-man, half-amazing, one-half of the WWE Tag Team Champions,” MVP, celebrated his one-year anniversary as a SmackDown Superstar (check out MVP’s one year tribute page) by throwing a party in his VIP Lounge. Matt Hardy visited his co-champion and the United States Champion bearing several gifts – a music video commemorating the Ballin’ Superstar’s less-than-greatest ring moments; an insulting toast over a bottle of Cristal; and the gift of competition, in the formidable form of Kane. A shocked MVP entered the match with his own game plan, and when Kane looked for the chokeslam to seal the victory, the Franchise Playa kicked the Big Red Monster in the family bling, resulting in a life-saving disqualification.

JBL jibes, Rey retaliates, Finlay flattens
After being attacked verbally by JBL and physically by Finlay last week, Rey Mysterio entered Conseco Fieldhouse intent on setting the record straight with SmackDown’s color commentator. During another face-to-face interview in the ring, an irate JBL began to bully and push Mysterio. This time, though, Rey pushed back, delivering the 619 to the man whom he forced into retirement more than a year ago. Finlay suddenly entered the ring and unleashed an attack of his own, clobbering Mysterio in the skull with his shillelagh. For two consecutive weeks, the Irishman’s vicious, calculated actions left Mysterio laid out in the ring.

Punjabi Prison talk
Hopefully, Rey Mysterio will have fully recovered when SmackDown rolls into Dayton, Ohio next week, as it was revealed last Friday that he’ll face The Great Khali in ring action. During an interview with the Punjabi goliath, translator Ranjin Singh brought up the contest as more of a warning for the World Heavyweight Champion, Batista, whom Khali will meet inside a Punjabi Prison Match at No Mercy. On Khali’s behalf, Singh noted that Rey Mysterio could conceivably run away next week. “You, Batista, on the other hand, have no such option inside the Punjabi Prison…. Inside the Punjabi Prison, The Great Khali will show no fear. The Great Khali will have no remorse. The Great Khali will have no mercy.”

Earlier in the evening, the World Heavyweight Champion admitted to SmackDown announcers Michael Cole and JBL that he had no real strategy going into the Punjabi Prison Match. But he welcomed the insurmountable challenge that awaited him. As he pointed out, “It’s dangerous locking me in a cage. It’s dangerous backing me into a corner…. When you back me into a corner, I lash out. And when I lash out, people get hurt. If he wants this World Heavyweight Title back, he’ll have to pry it out of my dead hands.”

Revving it up
Last Friday, Chuck Palumbo continued what’s shaping up to be an impressive winning streak with another decisive victory over Kenny Dykstra. Palumbo has been on a tear since rejoining SmackDown, and his Full Throttle offense has kept Dykstra on the down side of their encounters. Will the competitive hunger of the young lion Palumbo ride on past Dykstra, or can the self-proclaimed “future Hall of Famer” find a way to break through eventually?

Cruiser-what?!
Jamie Noble ended his own recent streak of embarrassments when he defeated Shannon Moore on SmackDown. But there was much bigger Cruiserweight news afoot Friday night, coming from the office of Vickie Guerrero, who Mr. McMahon appointed as SmackDown’s Acting General Manager earlier that evening. Shouldering the responsibilities of Theodore Long – who remains in a coma in an Atlanta medical facility, following the massive heart attack he suffered at his wedding a week earlier – Vickie voiced deep concerns for Hornswoggle’s wellbeing, pointing out that being Mr. McMahon’s illegitimate son and Cruiserweight Champion of the World made him too large a target. Therefore, she ordered the poor leprechaun champion to abdicate the Cruiserweight Title. How will Mr. McMahon’s “li’llegitimate” son fare without his gold?

Torrie terrorized
SmackDown’s Torrie Wilson endured a trying Friday night In her own right. First, she was unable to find a way to match Victoria’s viciousness in the squared circle, losing their one-on-one match. Moments later, a mystery woman appeared in the ring and absolutely brutalized the SmackDown Diva. Who is this mystery woman, and why did she attack Torrie?

Deadman rises, Henry falls
After being out of action more than four months at the powerful hands of Mark Henry, Undertaker made a triumphant return to Friday Night SmackDown. Though he had already defeated Henry at Unforgiven only six days earlier, The Phenom gained further retribution against the self-proclaimed Silverback for costing him the World Heavyweight Championship last May. The Deadman systematically decimated the World’s Strongest Man in a physically brutal confrontation, sending a message to all of SmackDown’s Superstars: Undertaker is back, and better than ever.

Coroner's report on Brian Adams. Source: Associated Press

Former pro wrestler Brian "Crush'' Adams died last month after accidentally ingesting a lethal mixture of prescribed medications, the medical examiner's office said Friday.

The 44-year-old Tampa resident died Aug. 13 from mixing a strong painkiller with muscle relaxants and two different types of sedatives, said Dr. Leszek Chrostowski from the Hillsborough County medical examiner's office.

Chrostowski said he found "therapeutic levels'' of each of the drugs in his system, but the mixture slowed his respiratory system enough to kill him.

There were no anabolic steroids in Adams' body, a report from the office said.

The drugs that killed Adams included buprenorphine, an opiate-based painkiller that Chrostowski said is often used like methadone in the treatment of painkiller addiction; carisoprodol, a muscle relaxant; and sedatives chlordiazepoxide and alprazolam.

Adams wasn't breathing when his wife found him unconscious in their home.

A former world tag team champion, Adams last performed for the World Wrestling Federation in 2001 and served intermittently on the roster beginning in 1990, World Wrestling Entertainment said. He wrestled his last match in January 2003 when a spinal injury forced him into retirement.

No Mercy for Phoenix
By Greg Adkins
October 1, 2007

CLEVELAND – Women’s Champion Candice Michelle continues to ruffle the feathers of rival Beth Phoenix. When it was announced that the two Divas will once again face off for the title at No Mercy, the Glamazon came to the ring to educate our fans.

“Being a Glamazon means I’m just as beautiful as I am dangerous,” Phoenix told the audience.

As if to prove it she bullied announcer Lilian Garcia into the ring to pronounce her the new Women’s Champion even before the title match had taken place. Garcia, who has a new album coming out next Tuesday, was understandably reluctant.

That reticence didn’t go over quite so well with the Glamazon, who questioned how effective Garcia would be promoting her new album with a “crushed throat.”

Just as Phoenix constricted her python grip around Garcia’s delicate neck, Candice Michelle stormed the ring and ripped the Glamazon away. The Candy-coated Diva then delivered a severe clothesline that sent Phoenix out of the ring. The incident left little doubt that the fur will continue to fly between these two, especially this Sunday at No Mercy.

RK-Oh no he didn’t!

In their first ever matchup, WWE Champion John Cena entered the ring to battle the athleticism and arrogance of Mr. Kennedy. The loudmouth from Green Bay, Wisc., showed he’s got the chops to back up his boasts, but Cena eventually felt the need to shut his opponent’s pie hole once and for all with a STFU. But if Cena was looking ahead to Sunday’s No Mercy match, Randy Orton was determined to blunt his vision. Orton, who claimed to be out of state, charged the ring and took Cena by surprise. He dragged him from the squared circle and administered a devastating RKO that left The Champ reeling. As Cena lie motionless outside the ring, Orton counted to ten in what he undoubtedly hopes will be glimpse of the future.

Hammer Time

In his match against Triple H, Mr. McMahon made certain the deck was stacked squarely in his favor. Before the bout began, the Chairman designated Carlito referee. After Triple H doled out punishment to both of them, he was promptly disqualified. As if disposing of those two wasn’t bad enough, Mr. McMahon arranged for a surprise visit from Umaga. In a preview of their No Mercy match, the Samoan Bulldozer and Triple H traded a flurry of blows with neither man backing down one inch. Only the threat of contending with The Game’s sledgehammer again sent Umaga from the ring staring down his upcoming opponent.

Taking Flight

Intercontinental Champion Jeff Hardy and tag partners Paul London & Brian Kendrick were pitted against Shelton Benjamin and World Tag Team Champions Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch. As expected, the team of Hardy and London & Kendrick took to the skies early, flying outside of the ring swooping onto their opponents like pterodactyls.
To end the match Hardy dropped a Swanton Bomb on Cade and pinned him for the three-count.

Rhodes Redux

Cody Rhodes seems determined to earn the respect of extreme machine Hardcore Holly. For the second Monday night in a row, the son of a son of a plumber challenged the six-time Hardcore Champion. And for the second Monday night in a row, Rhodes showed heaps of heart only to be served a defeat by the veteran.

Naked Ambition

After overcoming her humiliating shower scene with Hornswoggle, Melina came out this week to battle fellow Diva Mickie James. The two former Women’s Champions each dodged several near-pins when it seemed that Melina was finally set to score the victory. Just before she could, however, the lusty leprechaun popped up from under the ring and distracted Melina long enough to hand Mickie James the victory. The infuriated Diva chased the little guy under the ring only to be humiliated once again when he emerged clutching her form-fitting outfit and leaving her naked under the ring.

If and when he does come back, I just hope he doesn't use the Y2J gimmick...maybe Lionheart is in order for a comeback?

Cena out with pec tear, must surrender WWE Championship

Written: October 2, 2007

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – WWE Champion John Cena has suffered a complete tear of his right pectoral tendon and is heading into surgery, according to noted orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews. Because of the seriousness of the injury, WWE officials will not allow Cena to compete this Sunday at No Mercy, and he will have no choice but to surrender the title.

Dr. Andrews said Cena could miss between six and eight months of action. Cena was injured during his match Monday night on Raw with Mr. Kennedy. Before visiting Dr. Andrews, Cena had said, “No matter how serious, the injury, one way or another I’ll be ready to compete on Sunday.”

More WWE tidbits...

Most are from PWHeadlines.com, quoting source: ComicBloc Forum: Official Wrestling Thread Post #11,094

- While playing the SAVEUS_222 video in slow motion the text JER_ICO is clearly seen right above the words SAVE_RAW. It could be WWE trying to fool everyone, but it looks like pretty clear proof. As I reported last night, if you pay close attention to the video it says "I'm Back."

Big sent his thoughts on the SAVEUS_222 Video:
I am amazed that no one else has figured out the meaning of saveus_222. First of all 222 in the Dewey Decimal System refers to books of the Old Testament of the Bible. Jericho is mentioned 70 + times in the Old Testament. Jericho is the point of reference that God apparently gave to Moses for the deliverance of his people.

- There were several incidents which lead to The Sandman’s firing. In early September on a flight during WWE’s African tour, Sandman and some other wrestlers got drunk prior to takeoff and had a yelling match with Ricky Steamboat over smoking on the plane. Later on, due to time constraints a few wrestlers were pulled from a show and Sandman was one of them. Sandman thought this was Steamboat’s way of getting revenge. A few days later, he called John Laurinaitis and requested his release. His release was granted despite Vince McMahon being a fan of his character.

Sandman sold one of his construction companies a few years back and is financially in a good situation where he doesn’t need WWE’s paychecks.

- The Miz-Mahoney storyline was booked from start to finish by Dusty Rhodes. He has been known to be very hands on, doing all the filming for the angle. Both Vince and Dusty worked with Kelly Kelly on her reactions, as they feel she has made steady progress with her character.

Dusty optionally came up with the idea a few months ago, pitching it to Stephanie, which she liked. Since ECW has been known to fall of the radar in the past, no one messed with Dusty’s planning. This storyline was also rare because it’s one of the few angles that was booked in advanced and actually left untouched.

Here's what happened:
Cena is believed to have suffered a torn right pectoral muscle after a botched hiptoss on Kennedy that ended with Kennedy landing on Cena. Cena then did an armdrag on Kennedy and the two ended up in the corner, which led to a clean break. Cena backed up to the opposite corner, clearly favoring his arm.
