5 -- GREAT KHALI (w/Translator Guy) vs. BATISTA vs. REY MYSTERIO -- World Hvt. Title match

Rey and Batista went for a double-team attack on Khali, but Khali quickly shoved Rey to the outside. Khali worked on Batista before Rey re-entered the ring. He worked with Batista momentarily before suddenly rolling him up from behind for a quick two count. Batista came up with a shocked look on his face before Rey worked on Batista with high-flying moves. Rey, unfortunately, walked right into a big boot from Khali right after. JBL said they're going home early tonight as Khali went for the Claw on Batista, but Batista fought it off, only to walk into The Chop. Khali slapped on the Claw on Batista, then Rey landed a chair shot to the back on Khali to break the hold. Apparently, it's No DQ in a WWE triple threat match. Khali shook off the chair shot and shoved Rey away. He then threw Batista to the outside and onto an announce table. Back in the ring, it was Rey vs. Batista by themselves and Cole called it David vs. Goliath. JBL said, "But this David doesn't have God or a slingshot." Amen. Khali cornered Rey and drove him hard into the corner before shoving a boot into his throat. Khali then slapped on a nerve hold and Rey gasped for air before breaking the hold with elbow smashes, only to walk into another big boot to the face. Khali applied the Claw on Rey, but Batista broke it up and knocked Khali into the ropes to tie him up.

Batista laid into Khali with right hand blows and the action quickly moved into second gear. Batista went for a Batistabomb on Rey, but Rey countered into a whip to send Batista to the middle rope. Rey dialed up a 619 on Batista before nailing Khali with the 619. Rey hit a seated Sentaun on Khali for a pin, but Batista broke it up and powerbombed Rey on top of Khali's stomach. Batista then shoved Rey aside and hit a spinebuster on Khali for the pin and the win to capture the World Title. And size is rewarded yet again. Batista then celebrated with the belt as the crowd exploded for the title change. Rey was shown pointing to Batista from the top of the entrance ramp as Batista continued to soak up the moment.

WINNER: Batista in 9:00 to capture the World Hvt Title. Really nice title match with the story, not necessarily the in-ring action. Crowd was into the match consistently for the first time tonight and it helped create a dramatic finish. Since the belt is cursed, it will be interesting to see how long Batista holds the belt. 6 -- CADE & MURDOCH vs. BRIAN KENDRICK & PAUL LONDON -- World Tag Title match

Ross was in the zone calling the match with a Southern flair as the wrestlers went through the feeling out process. Cade & Murdoch had control, then the New Rockers made a comeback with quick dropkicks to clear the heels to the outside. K&L followed with stereo suicide dives on the floor. Back in the ring, Kendrick missed with a top rope splash and Murdoch smashed him in the face with a forearm blow. Cade then nailed an overhead slam from the top turnbuckle and had a pin, but London broke up the pin just in time. At 11:00, the action broke down and the ref tried to restore control, but Cade dropped Kendrick with a spinebuster. He then dumped London to the outside before Murdoch pinned Kendrick for the win.

WINNERS: Cade & Murdoch in 12:00 to retain the World Tag Titles. Trainwreck tag match. Fans have to be given a reason to care about London & Kendrick, but WWE hasn't taken the time to focus on that aspect of the character development, which means fans are sitting on their hands while the New Rockers are flying all over the place. 7 -- JOHN CENA vs. RANDY ORTON -- WWE Title match

After a pause, Cena's nostrils flared up and he charged Orton in center ring. Cena landed right hand blows, which the haters booed. Orton fled to the outside and Cena ran him over with a hard clothesline in front of his father. Back in the ring, Cena tried to slap on the STFU, but Orton escaped to the outside. Back in the ring, Orton cut off Cena with an uppercut, setting up Orton for a nice spike DDT while holding Cena horizontal across the middle rope. Orton then settled into a trademark headlock as the fans did the dueling chants of "Let's go Cena" vs. "Let's go Orton". Cena then fought off Orton and started clubbing away on Orton in the corner with right hand blows. The ref tried to intervene several times, but Cena tossed him away. Eventually, the ref called for the bell, DQ'ing Cena. The fans booed in unison.

Afterward, Cena had pause after seeing what happened. He then tried to attack Orton more, but Orton slingshot him across the top rope. Orton then dragged Cena's father over the railing to the outside. He lined him up for another punt to the head, but Cena cut Orton off with a spear. He then slapped on the STFU and screamed at his dad to kick Orton in the head. Mr. Cena paused before kicking Orton straight in the face. Security escorted Mr. Cena to the back, while Cena stood over Orton Ross, anticipating the negative feedback to the match, said it was a controversial ending to the match.

Backstage, Coach berated Mr. Cena for getting involved. He said Mr. Cena showed up because he knew John could not beat Orton tonight. Coach said Cena got himself intentionally disqualified, so he's booking a re-match. It will be no pinfalls, no count outs, and it will be Last Man Standing. Just not tonight, rubbing more salt in the wound for people who spent $40 on a non-finish. John then grabbed Coach by the jacket and told him that if he messes with his dad, he messes with him. John shoved Coach down to the ground, then hugged his father. Coach collected himself while the Cenas walked off.

WINNER: Orton via DQ in 8:00; Cena retains the belt. Just a really cheap finish to a title match that was supposed to be the centerpiece of the PPV. Really weak to use a non-finish to set up the next PPV title match on the current PPV. (*1/2)

8 -- THE UNDERTAKER vs. MARK HENRY

Taker nailed right hand blows in the opening minute, then he went for the Old School top rope walk, but Henry cut him off. Henry then slowly set up a superplex and connected. Henry was slow to follow up, so Taker landed a flurry of rights to the gut and clotheslined him over the top rope to the floor. Henry took advantage of the spot where Taker chases the ref away and landed a low blow kick. He then took Taker into the ring and landed consecutive big splashes off the ropes. The third splash only resulted in canvas, as Taker moved out of the way. Henry took control again with a reverse whip into a lift-up slam of sorts. Henry became confident, but Taker sat up and grabbed Henry by the throat. He hit an Old School top rope clothesline before hitting a chokeslam in center ring. Taker covered Henry and did the Tombstone pin, but Henry kicked out. Taker then ran into a bear hug, but Taker easily escaped by running into the corner turnbuckle. So much for the work on trying to get over the bear hug. Henry tried a corner mount for punches to the forehead, but Taker countered into a Last Ride powerbomb for the pin and the win.

WINNER: Taker in 12:00. Slow, methodical, at times boring main event. Satisfying conclusion for hardcore Taker fans, but not enough to make up for a lackluster PPV offering. (*)

Replay recommendation: Don't bother. One of the weaker semi-main event and main event combinations this year. Undercard wasn't strong, and we'll see plenty of re-matches on free TV and in three weeks at No Mercy.

A no finish in the Cena/Orton match. WTF!? OK, thats worse than Orton not winning. B/C it only sets up yet another ppv for him to possibly get screwed over at. Im seriously getting tired of this. Yet I keep watching so I guess its a self inflicted pain.

Glamazon on the warpath
By Corey Clayton
September 17, 2007
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Mount. St. Glamazon is ready to erupt.

After dominating the Women’s Champion Candice Michelle at Unforgiven, Beth Phoenix thought she should be wearing the gold as top Diva. But Candice caught the towering Phoenix in a crucifix, and scored a surprising pinfall.

The menacing Glamazon stood at ringside on Raw, staring down her Unforgiven opponent in Nashville as she competed in tag team action. After Candice and Mickie James defeated Melina and Jillian Hall, the Glamazon took the Women’s Championship into the ring and placed it on the champion’s shoulder. Then, Beth slapped the gold forcefully, perhaps as a warning to the Women’s Champion that she’s not settling for second best.

Beth locked eyes with Candice as she left the ring. Both elite Divas know that they may cross paths for the championship again, perhaps sooner than later.

In other developments on Raw:

A Hardy result
Still suffering from the ill-effects of The Great Khali’s crushing Vise Grip a week ago, Jeff Hardy successfully defended his Intercontinental Championship against former three-time champion Shelton Benjamin.

As Benjamin tried to snatch and throw Hardy from the top turnbuckle, Hardy blocked the attempt and pushed Benjamin down to the canvas. The “Rainbow-haired Warrior” hit his patented Swanton Bomb and earned the hard-fought three-count.

Win for Old Glory
Ring veteran “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan defeated Daivari in a classic WWE match – a Flag Match. With the flags of the USA and Iran above the corner posts, Duggan was able to send the Arab grappler to the floor and get to the Stars and Stripes first to earn the victory.

Father’s Day
John Cena could only watch helplessly, handcuffed to the ring ropes, as his dad took a beating from Randy Orton and his war with the Legend Killer got even more personal.

Gang Green
Mr. McMahon’s efforts to rid himself of his illegitimate son, Hornswoggle, went awry. Hornswoggle didn’t exactly mesh with his prospective new adopted family, leaving the Chairman fuming.

Handicap Match Not Cool
After being the butt of numerous “Hornswoggle’s Mom” jokes, Mr. McMahon ordered Triple H to face the World Tag Team Champions Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch in a Handicap Match. Carlito interfered, but The Game fended off the cool Caribbean Superstar. The two will face off in a steel cage next week on Raw.

Matches
Intercontinental Champion Jeff Hardy def. Shelton Benjamin
"Hacksaw" Jim Duggan def. Daivari in a Flag Match
Women's Champion Candice Michelle & Mickie James def. Melina and Jillian Hall
Triple H def. World Tag Team Champions Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch in a Handicap Match (disqualification)
WWE Champion John Cena def. Santino Marella (disqualification)
Randy Orton def. Mr. Cena (disqualification)

so far i've watched the ECW bout, and the deuce and domino fight.

first off elijah burke had that match, secondly his submission based style displayed last night reminded me of a young dean malenko. he was all over the place applying holds, locks, and pins, it was pretty cool seeing him actually wrestling and not just sucking. but as i predicted punk took that title home.

secondly, deuce and domino deserve the tag titles, and not this bullshit with matt hardy and MVP. why they've been dragged into this is beyond me. it pisses me off because they're quality wrestlers (i mean fuck deuce is jimmy snuka's boy) they really shouldn't be pushed about like that with stupid low grade matches only to promote a silly rivalry between hardy, and MVP.

but now it's onto the rest of unforgiven....

cade and murdoch against london and kendrick? all i could do is mutter "cryme tyme would have made it a better match" it felt lacking, and empty, i dunno it was okay but not that great.

the cena orton match was total bullshit. totally retarded. worthless filler match and i'm glad it wasn't the main event.

the khali, mysterio, batista match was actually not bad, i kinda got into it there at the end when mysterio 619ed everyone, then i was screaming "drop the dime, drop the dime!" as he seated sentoned khali. and he would have had it there had it not been for batista being dumb. i really don't like batista, and i can't stand his character i don't think he deserves the title really.

the beth phoenix match was actually a good divas match. which is rare. i liked it mostly because i think beth phoenix is the next actual female wrestler. she isn't a little twig of a girl like the other divas and actually knows how to wrestle and that gorrilla press of hers is badass.

then there was the taker match. the whole match was kinda slow and didn't pickup much. i wouldn't say it was a bad match, i'd just say don't give mark henry a main event. he's not that good, and doesn't have that great of moves. but taker made up for it chokeslamming him and powerbombing him. taker fought a good match, mark henry was his usual useless self.

overall the best match i'd say was the elijah burke CM punk fight. followed by the divas match.

ECW on Sci-Fi Results: 9-18-07

Fatal road to No Mercy
By Andrew Rote
September 18, 2007

ATLANTA – The Land of the Extreme is a world that revolves around the ECW Championship. ECW on Sci Fi exemplified just that when Elijah Burke, Kevin Thorn, Tommy Dreamer and Stevie Richards explained why they should each be CM Punk's next challenger.

After arguing over who deserves the title opportunity the most, the four Superstars had their decision made for them by General Manager Armando Estrada. An Elimination Chase to No Mercy would determine CM Punk’s No Mercy opponent for the gold. The competition commenced as soon as Estrada finished, as the four squared off in a Fatal Four Way Match. Three would remain eligible to confront each other once again, but whoever fell victim to a pin would face elimination.

ECW on Sci Fi featured another huge match – literally – when Big Daddy V took on Boogeyman. The worm enthusiast put up a good fight, but the massive monster proved to be too much man for him when the student flattened the closet lurker. The match served as the climax thus far to one of ECW’s biggest rivalries, and as proof that there truly is nothing that can stop Big Daddy V.

Earlier in the night, Extreme Exposé put on a show for our fans once again. The best seat in the house, though, belonged to Kelly Kelly’s Balls Mahoney bear, which sat in the corner of the ring. After the performance, Mahoney redeemed last week’s loss to Mike Knox with a convincing win. But his real reason for celebrating that night came when he grabbed the microphone and asked Kelly out. She smiled, then got pulled backstage by The Miz and the other Exposé members before she could answer. Nonetheless, Mahoney announced that he would take that as a yes.

Matches
Elijah Burke def. Stevie Richards, Tommy Dreamer and Kevin Thorn (Fatal Four Way)
Balls Mahoney def. Mike Knox
Big Daddy V def. Boogeyman

Doesn't surprise me. He's been in Saginaw for a good month now. He's back doing his regular visits at the gym. Saw him at a football game last Thrusday too.

TNA Impact! Results: 9-20-07

1 -- JUDAS MESIAS vs. ERIC YOUNG

No James Mitchell ringside for the debut of his son. Judas opened up with right hands on Young before tossing him over the top rope to the floor. They fought on the floor for a while before returning to the ring. Judas with a modified STO for the win.

WINNER: Judas in 3:00. Nothing happening match. Just TV time for Judas. (1/2*)

Afterward, Judas beat up Young before Shark Boy ran to the ring to make the save. West said Shark Boy has huge balls to get anywhere near Judas, but Shark Boy was quickly subdued with the STO maneuver. He then bit into Young's forehead. Suddenly, referees spilled into the ring and Judas easily cleared them from the ring with a chair. Rhino then showed up with a chair and scared Judas away from the ring.

Backstage, Crystal joined A.J. Styles and Tomko at a luau set. Christian Cage walked in as Styles handed out all sorts of goodies from the island setting. Tomko grabbed Styles by the neck and told him to get serious. He whisked him away, leaving Christian alone with Crystal for an interview. Christian hyped up Fatu, but said Fatu is debuting at the wrong time because he's upset with Samoa Joe and he's taking it out on Fatu.

[Commercial Break]

[Q2]

They aired a video package on the Steiner Brothers, labeling them the most-decorated tag team in wrestling history. They showed the feud between the Steiners and Team 3D.

2 -- A.J. STYLES (w/Tomko) vs. RON KILLINGS (w/Pacman Jones)

Styles held control early on, but Pacman distracted him. Styles then chased Pacman to the outside, then back into the ring where Killings met him with a clothesline.

[Commercial Break]

Killings was in control out of the break, but Tomko helped Styles re-gain control with a quick knee to the back from the apron behind the ref's back. Styles then hit a spinkick before nailing a back flip reverse DDT for a nearfall. Styles went up top, but Pacman distracted him. Killings tried to take advantage, but Styles landed a soccer kick. He had the Clash ready, but Tomko had the ref distracted for some reason. That allowed Pacman to pull a Bart Simpson and spray Styles in the face. Killings then hit the axe kick on Styles for the win.

WINNER: Killings in 10:00. Just a TV match. Nothing wrong with it; gave the tag title feud some focus. (*)

[Q3]

Backstage, Karen Angle met with Jeremy Borash to put forth her best effort at a sincere apology to Sting. She then twisted the knife by saying that if Sting is truly a gentleman, he will meet her in the ring tonight to accept her apology.

[Commercial Break]

Karen Angle walked out and Tenay talked about the Angles hoping Sting will buy Karen's apology. Apparently Sting doesn't have a monitor to watch the opening segment. Karen then went through an elaborate, over-done apology, which the fans responded with a chant of "You suck." Karen said she's trying to apologize. She then wished Sting the best of luck facing Kurt in a title match at Bound for Glory. Suddenly, there was a voice. Sting emerged from the tunnel and said he's not going to get involved in another Angle plot. He said his match against Kurt will be one-on-one with no involvement from Karen. She wasn't buying it. Sting then asked her if she read the document. She then pulled out the document and Sting said it's a restraining order that says Karen cannot come within 50 feet of him or face an arrest. Sting, being the great babyface that he is, starting running down the ramp and into the ring to get Karen within 50 feet of him. Suddenly, random dudes wearing "Police" t-shirts came down the ramp and cuffed her. Kurt Angle then came out sporting sunglasses to call Sting a sonofabitch. They went for the rear shot of Karen being escorted away through the backstage area. She screamed all the way backstage to the nice rental car serving as a police vehicle. She screamed, "I hate you Sting!" as the car sped off. Kurt screamed that she didn't do anything wrong. Ugh.

Ringside, Tenay and West commented on how much they admired Sting for what he did by involving the law to subdue Karen. Yes, Sting is a great man for playing gotcha with Karen.

Christian Cage came to the ring for the main event match against Junior Fatu. Fatu then came out to a subdued remix of his WWE music. His trunks read the following: "Bootylicious". Let's cut to a break, please.

[Commercial Break]

[Q4]

3 -- CHRISTIAN CAGE vs. JUNIOR FATU

They locked up and Fatu tossed Christian across the ring and to the outside. Christian regrouped on the floor, but took right hand blows back in the ring. Fatu whipped Christian into the corner, then went for a big splash, but Christian moved out of the way. That didn't phase Fatu, who threw Christian to the apron and bumped him off the apron into the guardrail.

[Commercial Break]

They showed a clip from during the break when Christian took advantage with a top rope dropkick. Back to the action, Christian missed with a top rope frog splash and both men recovered on the mat. Fatu came back with a standing sidekick to the face before stalking Christian for a running rear splash in the corner. Suddenly, Christian sat down in the corner and Fatu heard the sound of a body dropping. New fans have no idea what's going on. Fatu then went for the big rear splash, but Christian moved. Fatu answered with a press slam from the apron back into the ring. He then dragged Christian to the corner for the Bonzai drop, but Christian got his knees up to block the move. Fatu followed with a Samoan Drop, but Christian kicked out before three. Suddenly, A.J. Styles showed up on the apron to distract Fatu. He helped Christian avoid a Samoan Drop and Christian rolled up Fatu with a hook of the tights for the win.

WINNER: Christian in 12:00. Standard TV main event match with some basic back-and-forth action, interference leading to the finish, and a post-match angle to get the loser's heat back right away. Fatu looked fine, but there are 20 other wrestlers on the roster who potentially deserve that TV main event slot. (*1/2)

After the match, Fatu pulled Styles into the ring and smashed both men's heads together. How? Like a couple of coconuts, according to Don West. Tenay told Fatu to assume the position when Styles and Christian dropped into the corner. Styles took a stinkface, then Christian accepted the stinkface. Again, newer fans have no idea what's going on. Tomko then jumped in the ring and made it a three-on-one beating before a tourist hit the ring. Oh wait, that's Samoa Joe in cargo shorts and a t-shirt. He made the save for Fatu and they beat down Christian's group before clearing them from the ring. Suddenly, something was happening elsewhere.

Backstage, Judas Mesias was attacking Sting with a rope. Tenay said James Mitchell is orchestrating this attack, but we never saw Mitchell. Judas choked the life out of Sting, as Tenay and West put it. Judas then released the noose and left Sting choking and gasping for air. TNA just doesn't think any of the issues from this summer apply to them. You can't help but laugh at the absurdity of it because it's just par for the course with this company to use inane logic in some of their TV programming decisions.

WWE Smackdown Results: 9-21-07

Beyond the matrimony
By Lennie DiFino
September 21, 2007

ATLANTA – The season premiere of Friday Night SmackDown was expected to be its biggest ever, and in that respect, it did not disappoint. However, by the end of the evening, our fans in the Philips Arena and at home watched as rivalries both recent and past were brutally rekindled, while a couple’s vow to love and cherish each other was doused by tragedy.

619: Flight grounded
Rey Mysterio wasn’t able to recapture the World Title at Unforgiven’s Triple Threat Match with Khali and Batista, but the high-flying former champion granted his first SmackDown interview since returning from injury. However, when JBL felt Michael Cole was being “too soft” with his line of questioning, the SmackDown commentator began berating the Superstar who forced him to retire from the ring last year. Rey challenged JBL to a fight, but the self-proclaimed “wrestling god” introduced the man who loves to fight, Finlay. The Irishman attacked, leaving Rey down and out in the center of the ring.

Deflated
It looked as if WWE Tag Team Champions MVP & Matt Hardy might finally be on the same page as a team, but the latest chapter in their title reign took a turn for the worse Friday when Deuce & Domino defeated them in non-title action. The Ballin’ Superstar took both tag titles as well as his United States Championship when he walked out Atlanta’s Philips Arena in. These rivals-turned-partners have already been skating on thin ice for weeks; will this loss to the former champions be the thing to break it?

Not-so Noble
Jamie Noble has had no luck since losing a series of matches against Cruiserweight Champion of the World Hornswoggle. In fact, his ring losses have been second only to his personal embarrassments at the hands of Mr. McMahon’s “li’llegitimate” son, and his troubles only grew on SmackDown Friday night. While facing Jimmy Wang Yang, Noble exited the ring when he saw what he believed to be Hornswoggle’s hat. Instead, he found Shannon Moore donning the hat and laughing at Noble. The lapse in judgment soon cost Noble the match, as Yang capitalized to get the victory.

Batista a giant-sized target
The World Heavyweight Champion Batista’s first Friday night since reclaiming the title was certainly not what he had planned. Instead of celebrating his long journey back to the top, Batista was confronted by Mark Henry, leading to a non-title contest between the two. During the match, The Great Khali interfered and aided Henry in decimating The Animal with a violent barrage of power. Batista may have even bigger problems in his future, though, because at No Mercy, he must defend his title against the colossal Khali in a Punjabi Prison Match.

Ceremonial shocker
A night that was supposed to see the hearts of Theodore Long and Kristal united in marriage instead witnessed the chaos that ensued when SmackDown’s General Manager – in the middle of saying “I do” – suddenly collapsed. The distraught screams of Kristal resonated throughout the Philips Arena as SmackDown came to a traumatic end in front of our shocked fans, Superstars and wedding guests. Even prior to this tragedy, the wedding had its share of ceremonial jitters, as Jillian Hall sang, The Godfather pimped, and Hornswoggle and Jonathan Coachman’s antics completely disrupted the happy occasion.

Matches
Jimmy Wang Yang def. Jamie Noble
Deuce & Domino def. WWE Tag Team Champions Matt Hardy & United States Champion MVP (Non-title)
World Heavyweight Champion Batista vs. Mark Henry (Non-title, no contest)

Probably would have been more fitting if Teddy had his fake heart attack during the fake Honeymoon that they should have added in the script.. Heh.
Thanks for the updates! A-MAN.

Is it known if Orton is going to get the belt at the next PPV? I started off thinking that there was no way he wasn't going to win, Cena had the stupid belt for way too long. But now that they went through with the Orton beating up Cena's dad twist, Cena is gonna win the belt to regain his family's honor or some bullshit. I'm really tired of cena and I'm not even a big wrestling fan.

And Orton is sexy

- WWE has been sending letters to former superstars offering to pay for their drug and/or alcohol treatment. According to one former talent who received the letter, it's printed on WWE stationary and is hand signed by Vince himself. Below is a copy of the letter:

Over the last ten years, an inordinate number of wrestlers have passed away. Some of those deaths may in part have been caused by drugs and alcohol.

In an effort to prevent such tragedies in the future, the WWE is willing to pay for drug and/or alcohol rehabilitation at a certified treatment chosen by WWE for any performer with a prior WWE booking contract who may need this service. The WWE will pay for this service in full.

There is no cost to you or your family. Help will be provided regardless of the circumstances of your departure from the WWF or the amount of time you performed for the WWE.

If you do not have a drug and/or alcohol problem, but know you know a former WWE performer who does, we are asking you to try to help them by encouraging them to take advantage of this opportunity.

Liz Difabio has been appointed as a representative in this matter. Liz has been with the company for over 24 years and has been directly involved with the majority of WWE performers who have received treatment for substance abuse. She understands emotions that individuals and family members go through in this process. Any conversation you have with Liz will remain confidential and will not be released to the public.

In many instances, an individual in need of help is in denial and will not want rehabilitation. There are professional intervention companies that will help persuade that person that they need treatment. Liz will be able to facilitate such interventions, should they be necessary. An intervention and treatment will be at the cost of WWE exclusively.

This service is being provided for performers with a prior WWE booking contract only. No family or friends. Please reach out to Liz if you think you might have a drug or alcohol problem or if you know someone who does. We all need to do anything we can to help prevent another tragedy.

Sincerely,

Vincent K. McMahon
Chairman, World Wrestling Entertainment
