TNA Impact! Results: 8-9-07

The first 15 minutes of the show was all yappity-yap-yap with no wrestling involved :oh_no:

1 -- RAVEN & JAMES STORM (w/Ms. Jackie Moore) & ROBERT ROODE (w/Ms. Brooks) vs. KAZ & JAMES STORM & RHINO -- House of Fun match

Raven came out alone to start things off. Storm and Roode came out, then Kaz led out the babyface team. The heels jumped him in the aisle, though. Chris Harris then came out and Rhino followed out to officially start the match. Tenay plugged the text messaging while Roode stomped on Rhino in the corner. Raven then took five or six trashcan shots to the head from Harris. Storm slowly approached Harris, then the former AMW partners exchanged trashcan lid shots to the head. Raven came up bleeding heavily from his forehead. Raven then came off the top rope with an elbow smash on Kaz through a table. The move was sponsored by Supabad. Rather ironic.

[Commercial Break]

They came back with Kaz making a miraculous recovery to go for a suicide dive on the outside, only to take a trashcan lid shot to the head. Back in the ring, Storm brought numb chucks into the ring and tried to do some karate moves in front of Rhino, but Rhino chased him away. Back in the ring, Kaz kicked a chair into Roode's face before Raven caned him with a Kendo stick. Harris then nailed a double clothesline on Raven and Storm. On the outside, Brooks subdued Harris. Back in the ring, Kaz gave Raven a martial arts kick through a table. Kaz then turned around and took a sledgehammer shot to the gut from Roode. He followed with the Pay off - fisherman suplex - on Kaz for the win.

WINNERS: Raven & Roode & Storm in 10:00. All fine and dandy if you enjoy that style of wrestling, but I didn't get a sense that they were building up PPV matches. Roode is fighting Young, who wasn't in the mix. We saw enough of Raven vs. Kaz to get a meal instead of an appetizer. They didn't focus on Rhino vs. Storm and their bar room brawl. It was just a matter of getting six men in the ring and having a TV fight. (*1/4)

They quickly cut backstage where Leticia had changed into a different outfit. She was standing outside of Samoa Joe's locker room. She knocked on the door, then peeked in and gasped. She told us we would not want to miss Joe's special guest.

[Commercial Break]

[Q3]

They showed a video package on Black Reign (Dustin Rhodes) coming to Hard Justice to face Chris Harris. It's like Garth Brooks's alter-ego.

Backstage, Kevin Nash was on the couch while Kurt Angle cried about losing everything. Nash jumped off the couch and snapped at Angle that he's Kurt Angle. He's a genetic god. Perfect! Absolutely perfect! Angle unconvincingly said that's right. My name is Kurt Angle and people like me. Borash then interjected that Samoa Joe has a special guest. Angle started crying, not wanting any part of it. Borash whispered in Nash's ear who the guest is. Nash became agitated and said Angle doesn't need that. Angle continued to cry.

2 -- HOMICIDE & RICK STEINER vs. BROTHER DEVON & KIP JAMES (w/Roxy LaVeaux)

Homicide came out to new babyface-friendly theme music. The match started with Homicide taking down Kip with a head scissors, sending Kip to his corner. Rick then tagged in while Tenay and West talked about the media frenzy surrounding Pacman Jones. They cut to a break with the heels working on Rick.

[Commercial Break]

They aired a video package on Pacman Jones again. Back to the match, Devon hit a jaw breaker on Rick. Devon then missed with a clothesline and Rick landed an overhead slam. Homicide then took a hot tag and ran over Kip, who also tagged in. Homicide took Kip to the corner for punches, but Devon went for a corner move of sorts and hit no one. Kip then "accidentally" clotheslined Devon over the top rope to the floor. Devon then tripped Homicide from the floor, allowing Kip to hit the Fameasser on Homicide for the win. After the match, the action broke down with the remaining tag partners hitting the ring.

WINNERS: Kip & Devon in 9:00. Sloppy match fit more for a fight on bingo night than in a wrestling ring. A casual, former, or non-fan tuning in to see what this TNA promotion is all about with the Pacman Jones signing probably wasn't impressed by the "action" here. (1/2*)

Backstage, Leticia congratulated Samoa Joe on his special guest tonight. Joe said he's going to illustrate a point on all being fair in love and marriage. He said he ruined Angle's marriage last week; now he's ruining his life. Leticia asked Joe about Team 3D's comments earlier in the night. Joe said he's not hard to find, so come knock on his door. He'll be waiting for you.

[Q4]

[Commercial Break]

Samoa Joe came to the ring sporting the tag belts and X Division Title. Joe presented his special guest: the lovely and vivacious former Mrs. Kurt Angle. She walked to the ring, then Joe invited Karen to sit ringside at Hard Justice to see the ass-kicking Kurt has deserved for a long time. Angle's music interrupted and he dragged himself and his title belts to the ring, looking like a broken down man. Angle stepped into the ring after asking Joe to step aside so he could talk to his wife. He said the last 12 years wasn't the real Kurt Angle. He said he knows he treated her and their kids wrong. Angle said he wants to make it better. He wants another chance. Sounds like the Benoit story. Angle got on his knees and begged for another chance. Tenay said it's the emotional breakdown of Kurt Angle. Karen said she wants to believe Kurt, then the fans shouted at Karen not to believe Kurt. Angle pulled the "do it for the kids" line to take him back. Karen feigned taking Kurt back, but said the marriage is over... for the kids. Angle collapsed to the mat and Joe rubbed it in by saying he's receiving tremendous pleasure in Angle's misfortune. And he's the babyface? Or am I missing something? Angle cried while seated on his fanny, then Joe said he'll be coming for the IWGP Title and TNA World Title from Angle at Hard Justice. Joe closed with a thought that Angle will be broken at the PPV.

Before Joe could celebrate too long, Team 3D interrupted. He said Joe is nothing but a home wrecker. Ray said Angle tried hard to get his wife back and he's a good man. He said Joe stole something from Team 3D, and now they're taking them back. Ray told Joe to lay the belts down and leave like a good little Samoan boy. Joe took the belts and placed them down on the mat before yanking the mic away from Ray. He said he put the belts down, but it's going to be difficult for Ray to pick them up, boy. A fight ensued with Joe getting the best of Team 3D until Angle snapped to attention and slapped the anklelock on Joe. Team 3D then whipped Joe with the tag belts while Angle tried to snap Joe's ankle. Devon then brought a chair into the ring and smashed the chair over Joe's head. As usual, Joe, and his hubris, was one-upped. The Steiners then hit the ring and made the save for Joe while clearing Team 3D from the ring. Joe made a quick recovery from the chair shot to stand tall with the Steiners.

WWE Smackdown Results: 8-10-07

Answer to the challenge?
By Alissa Fuhrman
August 10, 2007

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Before a capacity crowd at the Chevrolet Centre, fury and aggression dominated SmackDown Friday night, building momentum to the Biggest Party of the Summer. A fired-up Batista started things off by taking his rage out on co-WWE Tag Team Champion Domino in one-on-one action, hitting Batista Bombs to score the pinfall and to punish his opponent’s interfering accomplice, Deuce. A video message from World Heavyweight Champion The Great Khali then appeared, warning The Animal that he would fall victim to the Claw at SummerSlam, just like Ric Flair did on SmackDown a week before. Later that night, the “Nature Boy” had his mind set on revenge for that previous vicious attack attack by Khali; however, despite a valiant effort, even the 16-time World Champion couldn’t stop the newest weapon in the Punjabi giant’s awesome arsenal. After The Great Khali’s enormous hand forcefully clutched onto Flair’s skull and forced him to the canvas, The Animal sprinted to his mentor’s aid. Amazingly, though, even The Animal seemed unable to halt the champion’s powerful vice-like grip, and ended up lying beside his fallen friend.

Inflicting pain on Matt Hardy, meanwhile, had been part of Finlay’s agenda Friday night, which also saw Horswoggle offering a little ringside support for the Fighting Irishman. But then the miniature Cruiserweight Champion of the World’s fun was nearly cut short by Jamie Noble, who chased him back to the locker room area. Following right behind them – and thereby giving Hardy a count-out win in the ring – Finlay threatened Noble to stay away from his condensed-sized comrade. Unfortunately, in the process he accidentally knocked scalding hot coffee onto a red-hot Kane, who in return tossed Finlay onto a table, knocking him to the ground. Minutes later, Kane doled out more pain inside the ring with a vehement chokeslam on Sylvan for the victory. But then the Fighting Irishman got his payback, surprising the Big Red Monster from behind and laying him out with his shillelagh.

Our fans in Youngstown originally believed Matt Hardy might face United States Champion MVP in another challenge to prove who the better man is. But the Ballin’ Superstar, speaking from WWE’s studios in Stamford, Conn., informed everyone of a medical condition that resulted in him losing not only last week’s Arm Wrestling Contest to Matt, but nearly his life. The Franchise Playa said he had notified SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long of his Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, a potentially lethal condition that causes his heart speed up to over 250 beats per minute, yet he was still forced to compete in last week’s challenge. As a result, following the competition, he required life-threatening heart surgery that would have put normal men on the shelf for at least a year. Yet as the Ballin’ Superstar himself reminded our fans, he is “half a man, half a-mazing,” and he has been cleared by doctors to return to ring action next week, where he will challenge Hardy to a competition of his own design.

In other SmackDown ring action, Mark Henry showed no sympathy for Sterling Keenan, obliterating his opponent with ease before finishing him off in a crushing bear hug. Continuing to show our fans why no one on the SmackDown roster wants to challenge him, the self-proclaimed Silverback proudly showed more footage of his vicious assault on Undertaker last May. But the World’s Strongest Man seemed taken aback as Druid music suddenly filled the arena, and a dark figure slowly walked away from the ring area, leaving only a trail of sand and footprints behind him.

Another surprise that had our fans erupting into cheers was the apparent return of Rey Mysterio – that is, until everyone realized that it was only an unfunny prank by Chavo Guerrero. In his tasteless attempt to literally mask his contempt for his former friend, the Mysterio-clad Chavo begged himself to take it easy on him when they meet at the Biggest Party of the Summer. But there was no mercy from Guerrero during his match with Eugene, especially after his embarrassingly bad attempt at a 619 through the ropes. A frustrated Chavo pulled off the mask and took his aggravations out on his opponent Eugene, finishing him off with a Frog Splash for the three-count.

Back in the GM’s office, Assistant GM Vickie Guerrero gave Long an early wedding present for himself and his fiancée, Kristal: a tiny blue pill to help the GM rise to the occasion and spice up their love life. Meanwhile, Chris Masters decided to spice up his evening with an Open Master Lock Challenge to “anyone with the guts” to try and break it. One intense fan claiming to be a three-time All-State football player, captain of his high school wrestling team and someone who just got out of prison for manslaughter, seemed a little too willing for The Masterpiece’s liking. So Masters found another member of the Chevrolet Centre crowd, then clamped on the Master Lock and shook the fan like a rag doll.

Back in the locker room area, Michelle McCool let Victoria and Kenny Dykstra know that she wasn’t enjoying their excessive smooching session. Trading barbs with Michelle would only set the already unstable Diva off further when she later squared off in a match against Torrie Wilson; even after a Widow’s Peak and a three-count, Victoria continued pummeling away at the blonde beauty, right before our fans and Torrie’s ringside partner, Jimmy Wang Yang. Suddenly, Michelle raced down to the ring and came to Torrie’s aid, launching an attack that made Victoria retreat back up the SmackDown ramp. Needless to say, SmackDown’s All-American Girl didn’t love Victoria’s behavior that night… but she is loving life.

Chavo Guerrero def. Eugene
Mark Henry def. Sterling Keenan

O. Yashiro said:
OMG TNA signed PacMan Jones? UGH. I dont know how sound of a decision that is. I would hate to see that trend of signing sports stars, actors, and musicians starting again. I smell WCW.

So much for PacMan's wrestling career...

A judge in Tennessee ruled tonight that Adam "Pacman" Jones has been prohibited from participating in a TNA Wrestling event. His NFL team, the Tennessee Titans, sought out the court injunction. Both Jones's agent, Jones's attorney, and TNA declined to comment on the decision.

"Mr. Jones is hereby restrained from providing any 'wrestling' or 'performing services' to TNA ... including but not limited to the TNA Hard Justice pay-per-view event ... for as long as this restraining order is in effect," Judge Robert E. Lee Davies ruled.

The TNA website still advertises Jones for Sunday's PPV event.

Looks like Pacman WILL be at the PPV after all...

The AP reported on Saturday afternoon that the restraining order against Pacman Jones has been modified to allow Pacman Jones to appear at Sunday's Hard Justice PPV in Orlando. Physical contact is prohibited, however. Jones won't be allowed "to touch or be touched, use or be hit by any object or anything else that could injure him."

Legal representation for TNA, the Tennessee Titans, and Jones made the arrangements, which were approved by a Tennessee judge on Saturday morning. After the 10-minute meeting in judge Jeff Bivins's chambers, Tennessee Titans CEO Steve Underwood told the AP: "It doesn't mean he can't participate and be present at whatever he's under contract to do with them. It just means that he can't participate in anything where he's going to get hurt. That was always our concern."

WWE Wellness Policy does it job?!!

- WWE is touting its Wellness Policy with a story on MVP being detected with a heart condition following a routine cardiovascular test administered on each wrestler every six months. Cardiologist Dr. Fred Feuerbach says MVP has Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, or abnormal heart rhythm, where the electrical impulses in the heart contract irregularly and cause the heart to beat unnaturally fast.

"It can result in a heart spontaneously beating over 200 beats per minute, and the pathway increases the risk for sudden cardiac arrest, which can equal death," said Dr. Feuerbach. "Those who have the accessory pathway shouldn’t be exposed to excessive physical activity, because they have a higher risk of fatal arrhythmia.”

The detection meant MVP could not wrestle, where the physical stress on the heart is heightened. Last Monday, MVP went to Dr. Feuerbach for a dangerous screening test that allowed doctors to map out MVP's heart and perform a procedure to potentially eliminate the irregular pathway in the heart. Follow-up tests next week will determine whether the procedure was successful.

Hmmm... :annoyed:

TNA Hard Justice PPV Results: 8-12-07

The PPV opening package included NASA file footage with Kurt Angle narrating his accomplishments. They showed a wrecking ball going into a building and several planes crashing to represent Angle's marriage and life falling apart.

They showed a Hummer pulling up backstage where a dude walked out and opened the door for Pacman Jones to walk out. The fans in the arena booed when Pacman appeared on screen. After Tenay and West broke down the PPV card, Tenay demanded with a very stern face to roll footage on the media coverage of Pacman Jones. The TNA voice-over man narrated Pacman's journey to TNA. They showed clips from ESPN's coverage of Pacman signing with TNA.

1 -- JAY LETHAL & THE GURU SONJAY DUTT vs. TRIPLE X (CHRISTOPHER DANIELS & SENSHI w/Elix Skipper) vs. MOTOR CITY MACHINE GUNS (CHRIS SABIN & ALEX SHELLEY)

They cut to a shot of extra security ringside for Pacman, and then there are two reserved seats ringside for Karen Angle and guest. Triple X exchanged tags working on Lethal for a good five minutes. Guru dropped Shelley and Sabin to the floor, then Dutt walked the top rope with Daniels and nailed a clothesline. He went for a Camel Clutch, but Shelley kicked Guru square in the face. The action broke down at 10:00 with all six men strewn about the ring. Naturally, the matched moved to the outside where Lethal hit a suicide dive on Shelley. Daniels then nailed a moonsault on Lethal. More men flew to the outside, leaving Guru alone in the ring. He then hopped to the apron and hit a moonsault on everyone. Back in the ring, Sabin hung up Daniels for the Tree of Woe, but Earl Hebner, for some reason, decided to try to unhook Daniels. That allowed Slipper to slip into the ring and gave Sabin a huracanrana after running the top rope. The action then spilled back into the ring where everyone went for flying spots. Spot. Another spot. More spots. Someone breaks up a pin. Crowd goes nuts for a big highspot, but not as big of a highspot as the final highspot of Lethal rolling up Daniels in the middle of the ring after Lethal shoved Daniels into Senshi's crotch.

WINNERS: Lethal & Guru in 16:00. Ah, the irony. They have a video game-style match with a bunch of highspots, one right after the other, and the finish is a small package. That's why the highspots don't matter in TNA. (**)

Backstage, they showed Jeremy Borash standing outside of Samoa Joe's locker room. He barged in and found Karen Angle on the couch with some random guy. Karen told Borash that he has a new man in her life. She took a swig of champagne, then told Borash to scram so she could be alone with The Dude.

Serotonin made its entrance with Raven on a giant chair. Kaz then came out with a Kendo stick. Before the match, Raven took a mic and said Kaz has made his point about wanting to be alone. He said Kaz could shake his hand and all would be forgiven. They shook hands and hugged, then Raven held Kaz's hand in the air. Kaz quickly re-turned on Raven and swung the Kendo Stick onto Raven to start the match.

2 -- KAZ vs. RAVEN (w/Havok and Martyr)

Raven then flipped Kaz over the top rope onto one of the Serotonin members. Raven then tried to fly onto Kaz, but he crashed onto both of his members. Back in the ring, Raven rolled out of the electric chair into a roll up for a nearfall. Raven then went on the attack, using knee strikes and kicks to the head. Kaz suddenly fired up with rapid-fire elbow strikes before landing a dropkick. Serotonin then spilled into the ring, but, as per the script, Martyr accidentally nailed Havok with a superkick. Raven and Martyr had a discussion, then Kaz clotheslined both of them over the top rope the floor. On the floor, Raven caned Kaz in the back right in the front of the ref. I wasn't aware of this being No DQ. Back in the ring, Raven went for the Evenflow DDT, but Kaz escaped and kicked Raven in the back of the head for the win.

WINNER: Kaz in 6:00. Good win for Kaz after going through the bumbling trio. We'll see if this means anything on TV. (*)

Backstage, Borash approached Kurt Angle, who was sitting on a locker room bench with a dejected look on his face. Borash said Karen is here, and Angle wanted to know who she was with. Borash finally spit it out that Karen's here with a date and they're sipping champagne while looking into each other's eyes. Angle didn't believe it, as he said Karen doesn't drink. Angle then quizzed Borash on who the guy is and where they are. Angle left to go find Karen and The Dude.

They aired a repeat video package on Rhino vs. James Storm. They cut to ringside where James Storm and Jackie Moore walked to the ring past the barroom brawl set for the match. Tenay said Rhino had not arrived at the building prior to the PPV going live, which is uncharacteristic for him. Where have I heard that before? Rhino then stormed the ring and chucked a chair into the crowd, probably nailing someone in the face.

3 -- RHINO vs. JAMES STORM (w/Ms. Jackie Moore) -- Barroom Brawl

The non-pre-taped fight started in the crowd where Rhino landed a trashcan shot to the head. Predictably, they took the fight up the bleachers to the top of the building. The fight moved past Tie-Dye guy's immediate relatives, then Storm reversed a whip on the floor and sent Rhino crashing into the PPV poster covering a hole at the base of the bleachers. They moved to the "bar" and Rhino took a swig of beer. He then sprayed Jackie Moore. Rhino picked up the dummy drunk sitting at the bar and flung him into the ring. Rhino then grabbed a keg and sprayed Jackie Moore before taking a swig himself. And, yeah, there's also a toilet ringside. Rhino tried to give Storm a wedgie (according to West), but Storm blocked the swirlie and executed a wrestling hold with a suplex on the entrance stage. Storm took too much time playing to the crowd, allowing Rhino to back drop Storm onto the collapse bar. Rhino then took a swig of everything he could find before dumping Storm into the toilet. Rhino popped a squat, then tossed Storm into the ring. He retrieved a ladder while Tenay and West talked about the smell of booze all-throughout the Impact zone. Jackie tried to get involved, and Storm made the save before Rhino could violate a woman with a press slam. Storm then tossed Rhino over the top rope onto a ladder. Rhino made a comeback and went for a Gore through a table in the corner, but Storm moved and Rhino ate the table. Storm went wild with trashcan shots to the head before picking up a chair and creaming Rhino in the face. He then nailed the Conchairto on Rhino. Rhino stumbled to his feet and walked into a superkick from Storm. He finished off Rhino with a beer bottle smash to the back of the head for the pin and the win.

WINNER: Storm in 14:00. Just a repeat of last month. Now, all we have to do is wait for Rhino to show up on TV this Thursday running to the ring as fresh as a daisy so they can repeat the entire match at next month's PPV. (*1/2)

Backstage, some new interview lady broke down the Pacman Jones story. Ron Killings then made his return and asked who she is. She's Kristal. Killings then cut a screaming promo on Pacman Jones. Oh, I see where this is going.

Tenay and West filled time by breaking down the Karen Angle storyline while the clean-up crew worked on the ring and ringside area.

TNA Hard Justice PPV Results: 8-12-07

Continued from previous post...

4 -- VKM (B.G. JAMES & KIP JAMES w/Roxxi LaVeaux) vs. LAX (HOMICIDE & HERNANDEZ)

The match started with B.G. and Homicide while the fans chanted, "DX rejects". Kip then took a tag and brought his bright blue trunks and matching chaps into the ring. Something from the old Billy and Chuck days. Kip then had his way with Homicide before B.G. tagged in and nailed Homicide. Tenay asked West to comment on Kip's ring attire and West had no comment. VKM continued to pound Homicide while Hernandez waited for a tag. Homicide finally slipped through Kip's crotch and tagged out to Hernandez, who cleared VKM. He went for a Border Toss on B.G., but Roxxi threw powder onto Hernandez. Kip then hit the Fameasser on Hernandez for the win.

After the match, Hector Guerrero stormed the ring and explained to Earl Hebner what happened. Hebner saw where Roxxi spilled the powder on the apron and called for a re-start. Homicide then rolled up Kip for the win.

WINNERS: LAX via re-start in 6:00. Quite obvious how committed they are to LAX when they needed to book a screwy finish to give LAX a win and give VKM an out. (3/4*)

They showed a video package on Robert Roode vs. Eric Young. They're doing a humiliation match, which we're not sure what that entails. Young cut a promo backstage with Jeremy Borash, who told Young to snap out of his elementary school problems about being humiliated and focus on being a man. Kurt Angle then found Borash and said he went to Samoa Joe's locker room and didn't find Karen. Angle asked Young what he was smiling about. Young then said he saw Karen and The Dude going at it backstage before the show. Angle said that's not like her. He's going to find out what's going on.

5 -- ROBERT ROODE (w/Ms. Brooks) vs. ERIC YOUNG -- Humiliation match

The match spilled to the outside early on, with Brooks nearly spilling out of her blouse while screaming at Young that she hates him. Comedy ensued when Brooks tripped Young and love-tapped him with his shoe before rubbing her nails across Young's back. Roode then took Young back into the ring and worked on Young's neck and head. Young made a comeback at 6:00, but Roode cut him off with a thumb to the eye. Suddenly, Brooks entered the ring and Young catapulted her head-first into Roode's crotch. Young had a roll up pin on Roode, but the ref was distracted by Brooks, and Roode kicked out. Roode then came up with a Blockbuster for a nearfall. Brooks tried to hand Roode brass knuckles, but Young kicked Roode away. There was some referee confusion and other referee incompetence, leading to Roode nailing Young with the brass knucks for the win.

After the match, Roode took Young to the floor and took the mic to announce it's time for Young to be humiliated. Before Roode and Brooks could tar and feather Young, Gail Kim stormed the ringside area and covered Young. Roode called her a bitch, then Brooks attacked Gail. Roode went for a right hand blow, but Gail ducked and Brooks took a right hand blow to the face. Roode then proceeded to choke out Gail to re-create the top story of the summer, then Young kicked Roode square in the crotch from behind. Young said he was going to tar and feather Brooks. Gail and Young dumped the feathers on Brooks while Roode backed up the entrance ramp. Brooks jumped up and screamed at Roode, who waved her off and left.

WINNER: Roode in 10:00. A TV match where the post-match activity took precedence over whatever happened in the match. Sloppy finish with all sorts of interference and no real explanation of the rules. (*1/4)

They showed a video package on Dustin Rhodes. Backstage, Kristal interviewed Chris Harris about Dustin's behavior. Harris said Dustin lost his spot on his own, and while Dustin was losing it, he was earning his own. Harris said he's tired of has-beens like Dustin trying to get in the way of his future.

Chris Harris came to the ring to a re-mix of the old ECW theme. Apparently, the music department had a lot of time on their hands the past two weeks to create new theme music for everyone. Black Reign then came out (he was announced from the deepest, darkest corner of his mind). Reign then entered through the opposite tunnel from behind Harris. The lights came back on and revealed Dustin dressed in a giant black outfit. It's like La Parka on crack and getting dressed in the dark. Like I said last month, there must be at least one WrestleCrap moment on a TNA PPV.

6 -- CHRIS HARRIS vs. BLACK REIGN DUSTIN RHODES

Rhodes took Harris to the outside and busted him open. Rhodes continued to work on Harris before he shoved the referee into the railing. Grounds for a DQ? Nope. The match continued with Rhodes pulling out a spike with a blade on the end of it. A new referee came out as Rhodes landed cuff shots on Harris before he KO'ed the second referee. Rhodes channeled Delirious and shouted jibberish at him. He then hit a running bulldog and stared down at Harris. Earl Hebner then came out as the third referee and called for the bell while Rhodes choked out Harris with a chain.

After the match, Hebner quickly bailed from the ring when the announcement was made that Harris won the match. Rhodes then cuffed Harris to the corner and security members came to the ring and were dumped to the floor. These are the guys who are supposed to protect the fans from Pacman Jones? Rhodes then picked up a spike object and jammed it on top of Harris's head. X Division jobbers then stormed the ring and cornered Harris while Rhodes stood his ground in the center ring. Guru Sonjay Dutt was having a good laugh at the scene. Rhodes then slowly left the ring.

WINNER: Harris via DQ in 4:00. Is this a new low for TNA? Unbelievable. Dutt laughing at the whole scene was apropos. This is why no one takes wrestling seriously. (DUD)

They aired a video package on the Steiners vs. Team 3D feud. Backstage, Kristal interviewed the Steiners backstage. Rick told Team 3D if they don't like him, then bite him. Scott cut his promo that Team 3D is nothing more than a warm-up match for his tag match in Japan. Suwama, who Steiner is teaming with on August 26 for All-Japan, did the Rick Steiner dog noises. They cut elsewhere where Team 3D cut a promo with Jeremy Borash. Ray tried to re-create some sort of hospital scene to make fun of Scott's injury. Ray then said the Steiners are two of the biggest bitches ever in wrestling.

7 -- TEAM 3D (BROTHER RAY & BROTHER DEVON) vs. STEINERS (RICK & SCOTT)

The bell sounded and the fans chanted, "We want smoothies." Ray distracted Rick, allowing Devon to get in some work on Rick. Scott took a tag and helped Rick clear Team 3D to the outside. Ray said they were done and feigned leaving before the Steiners chased them down on the entrance ramp. The action returned to the ring where Scott hit a turnaround belly-to-belly suplex on Devon before Rick tagged in and worked on Devon. Team 3D took control at 6:00 and worked on the right side of Scott's stomach, where the giant scar is. Scott recovered when he blocked a top rope move from Devon and executed a belly-to-belly suplex with just enough room to spare before Devon hit his head on the mat. Team 3D came back with the Doomsday Device on Scott, but for a nearfall only. They tried to set up the diving headbutt from the top rope on Rick, but Scott broke it up after the fans chanted, "Same old s---". Scott then dropped Devon with a top rope Frankensteiner to pop the crowd. Team 3D quickly recovered, rendering the move useless, and hit a hanging neckbreaker on Scott. Rick then sloppily dumped Ray on his back. The Steiners went for a top rope bulldog on Devon and Scott made the cover for the win.

WINNERS: Steiners in 12:00. It was a tag match. Some spots happened. Steiners get the win they were supposed to get two months ago. (*1/2)

TNA Hard Justice PPV Results: 8-12-07

Backstage, Angle approached Dr. Nash's office with Borash. Angle walked in, dropped his belts on the floor, and collapsed on the couch. He cried while explaining tonight's story to Nash. Nash said there are things more important in life than his family, for example, his doctor. Angle sat up on the couch while Nash snapped him to attention. He told Angle he must beat Joe tonight. Nash walked away, then Angle started crying again.

In the ring, Mike Tenay threw out the "living under a rock" or "living in a cave" lines about TNA's media coverage for Pacman Jones. The fans booed when Pacman was announced. He then walked to the ring by himself. West listed his accolades while fans in the front row made it rain in the ring. Tenay went for a handshake, but Pacman shook him off. Tenay then asked Pacman why he picked wrestling. Pacman said he grew up loving wrestling, so he wanted to step into the ring. He said he picked TNA because it's a trend-setter. Pacman said his goal is to show the world that he's the best team player that ever lived. Ron Killings then interrupted and walked out on stage. Killings welcomed Pacman to the snake pit where pro wrestling is not a team sport, but about individuals. Oh, well, that explains WWE's stance on the tag division. Killings said wrestling is about who's going to screw who first. He said no one has back or front. He said Pacman got himself in trouble with his NFL contract where he can't touch or be touched. The fans chanted, "He's a bitch" while Pacman stared down Killings. Killings then put out a challenge, but said no one has to worry about Pacman fighting in TNA. Killings told Pacman to watch his ass in the ring, at home, in the showers, and in the picnic. In the showers? Pacman then said he saw Killings talking a lot earlier, but he likes to fight, not talk. Killings approached Pacman and tried to grab Pacman's leg, but security jumped Killings and dragged him up the entrance ramp. Pacman said he sees what Killings is about and he would see him later in the back. In the shower? Pacman stared down the crowd while the front row people made it rain with Monopoly money. He left the ring.

They showed a video package on the Doomsday Chamber of Blood match. This should not to be confused with the Doomsday Chamber of Doom match or the Doomsday Device Chamber of Blood and Doom match or its distant cousin, the Chamber of Horrors match.

They cut backstage where Krystal interviewed Christian Cage, Styles, and Tomko about the DCB match. Christian said it's a ridiculous name for a match, and if Styles sheds one ounce of blood tonight, he's holding Abyss personally responsible. Christian said the champ is leaving the cage as the #1 Contender tonight. Christian left, then Styles asked Tomko if his band-aids would help. Tomko said the band-aids stop the bleeding, not prevent the bleeding.

Ringside, Tenay and West had an urgent bulletin in their ears. They cut backstage where Pacman was on the floor holding his neck in pain. Security jumped into the camera shot and pushed the camera away. Unbelievable. Tenay and West talked about those contractual restrictions. Typical TNA where they choose not to explain things and just assume everyone knows what they're talking about in secret code.

8 -- CHRISTIAN CAGE & A.J. STYLES & TOMKO vs. ABYSS & STING & THE PUNISHER -- Doomsday Chamber of Blood match with barbed wire and winner must score a pin, but not before the person to be pinned is bleeding

The heels came out, then Abyss walked out alone. The heels jumped Abyss on the outside before his partners came out, the incredible hulk Andrew Martin's music hit and he stormed the ringside area. Lights on and off, then Sting showed up in the ring. The fight was in the ring, but quickly moved to the outside. Wait, wasn't the whole point of the barbed wire, per Cornette's explanation on TV, to keep the action in the ring so Christian's team couldn't bail from the match? They suddenly cut backstage where they were doing a stretcher job with Pacman Jones, loading him into an ambulance. I wonder how Tommy Urbanski would feel about seeing that. Back to the match, Christian's group prevented Sting from entering the cage. They then locked Sting out of the cage. Christian pulled out a bag and grabbed some broken glass. He then opened up Abyss's forehead to generate blood. Punisher came up throwing right hands on Tomko, then Sting started climbing the cage wall with wire cutters. He quickly and easily cut the barbed wire aside so he could try to climb inside the cage. Sting made the comeback for his team before Tomko cracked Sting across the back with a chair shot before slamming Abyss back-first into the chair. Styles came off the top with a splash, and Christian followed with a frog splash, but it was good for a two count only. Christian then dumped the glass across center ring. Martin then smashed a chair into Tomko's face. Christian decided to bail from the cage, leaving Styles in the ring with Tomko to take a beating. Abyss gave Styles the Black Hole Slam into the glass and Styles came up bleeding from the back, presumably, and Abyss covered Styles to win the match.

WINNERS: Abyss & Sting & Martin in 11:00; Abyss is #1 Contender via pin. Another stipulation undermined to show that Jim Cornette's character isn't a competent authority figure. Beside the #1 Contender stipulation, the whole point of the match was to keep Christian's group inside the cage, yet the first-half of the match was spent on the outside and the final images were of Christian walking on the outside away from the cage. Who the hell are they fooling?!! Pacman can't be touched or involved in any physical activities and they expect us to believe a sneak-attack like this? Bet the Titans and the judge are rolling their eyes about this storyline :oh_no:

9 -- KURT ANGLE vs. SAMOA JOE -- Winner Take All -- TNA Hvt. Title, X Division Title, TNA Tag Titles, IGF version of the IWGP Title

Borash handled the ring intros and Angle was nearly in tears before the bell sounded. Angle had new trunks and bright white shoes for the match. They cut to ringside to show the two empty chairs reserved for Karen Angle and friend. They had a shoving match in the opening minute, then Angle bailed from the ring and tried to console himself. They cut to a shot of Karen and The Dude walking to ringside with champagne in hand. Angle then walked over and stared them down. Joe had a big smirk on his face in the ring. Back in the ring, Joe and Angle exchanged holds before Angle bailed and stared at Karen. Angle became frustrated when Joe kept grabbing Angle's straps, so he dropped the straps and went back to work. Suddenly, Joe pantsed Angle, revealing full white ass cheeks. Was that what Ron Killings was talking about? Karen and The Dude had a good laugh, so Angle walked over to them and Karen poured champagne in his face. Joe then rolled Angle back into the ring. He landed successive kicks to the chest and back before following with a sentaun splash for a nearfall. They went into an exchange of holds before Joe snapped off a powerslam for a nearfall at 11:00. Joe suddenly nailed Angle on the side of the head with an enziguiri kick for a nearfall. Angle came back with a release German suplex, then he went for the Olympic slam, but Joe countered with slaps to the face and a front slam for a nearfall. Joe went for the Muscle buster, but Angle countered into the anklelock. Joe quickly escaped and went for the rear naked choke, but Angle countered into the anklelock again. Joe escaped, but walked into the Olympic slam for a nearfall.

They fought up top at 15:00 and Angle landed a top rope suplex for a nearfall. Angle then screamed down at Karen and The Dude. He followed by going up top for a moonsault, but Joe moved. He then took Angle up top for the Musclebuster and connected. He made the cover for a very close nearfall. Joe paused after the near-miss, then went for the rear naked choke. Angle bit his way out of the hold, then slapped on the anklelock in center ring. Suddenly, Joe flipped Angle around and slapped on the rear naked choke again. Angle wisely rolled over and placed his bottom rope on the bottom rope. And, yes, there was a referee bump right after this. Joe then placed Angle in the rear naked choke again and Angle tapped out, but the ref was out cold. Joe released the hold and Angle landed a cheap shot. Karen Angle then slipped out of the stands and extended a chair to Joe, who crawled over to accept it. Karen pulled the chair away, though, and Joe screamed at her. She then handed it to Kurt, who creamed Joe in the face with the chair. Angle covered, revived the ref, and scored the pin to win the match and all the belts. After the match, Tenay screamed that everyone fell for the trap. Angle, Karen, and The Dude celebrated in the ring to close the show.

WINNER: Angle in 18:00 to capture all the gold. Easily the best match of the night, but not at the level of their three-match series when Angle first came to TNA. The swerve was predictable, as it fit TNA's booking of making Joe's character look like a complete idiot throughout this feud with Angle. I do like that it gives Angle more of an edge to his character going forward as holder of all the belts. (***1/4)

Another WWE persona bites the dust

demolition_axsmashcrush1

The death rate in pro wrestling is mind-boggling. Crush, the big guy in the middle, was found dead earlier today.

---

Brian "Crush" Adams passes away

Written: August 13, 2007

World Wrestling Entertainment has learned that Brian Adams, also known to our fans as Crush, has been found dead today.

Known for his formidable strength, the Hawaiian native made his first impact on the U.S. wrestling scene in the late 1980s with the NWA's Pacific Northwest organization.

When he debuted in WWE in summer of 1990, he joined Ax and Smash as the third member of the legendary tag team, Demolition. A change in the rules allowed the trio to hold the World Tag Team Championship, with any two of the three members defending the titles. The trio would lose the championships to The Hart Foundation due to interference from The Legion of Doom, sparking a fierce feud between them and Hawk & Animal.

After Demolition disbanded, Adams returned to WWE in summer of 1992 as the blond-haired Hawaiian powerhouse, "Kona Crush." He thrilled our fans with his ready smile and fearsome strength. However, a rivalry with Doink the Clown, which culminated in one of the most unforgettable moments in WrestleMania history when Crush was attacked by two Doinks, changed the Hawaiian's philosophy. He eventually fell under the guidance of Mr. Fuji and engaged in a fierce war with "Macho Man" Randy Savage. Their most memorable battle was WrestleMania X, where Savage defeated Crush in a Falls-Count-Anywhere Match.

After a short absence, attorney Clarence Mason brought Crush back to WWE in summer of 1996. Crush would join the Nation of Domination in 1997, and then formed the Disciples of Apocalypse biker gang with Chainz, Skull and 8-Ball later that year.

Early in 1998, Adams joined World Championship Wrestling and became part of the New World Order, using his own name. He later would go on to team with Bryan Clarke as KroniK and win the WCW Tag Team Championship twice. After WCW folded, KroniK would have a short-lived run in WWE in 2001, fighting with Kane & Undertaker.

After leaving WWE in late 2001, Adams competed in Japan and then attempted a career in boxing. After suffering a shoulder injury while training for first professional bout, Adams called off his boxing efforts and returned to Japan to compete.

Adams wrestled his last match in January 2003, suffering a spinal injury that forced him into retirement. Whether he was beloved or jeered, Adams made a lasting impact on WWE and he will be missed by Superstars and our fans

WWE is taking all precautions to make sure Alvin Burke, Jr.(Montel Vontavious Porter-MVP) is receiving the best treatment for this rare syndrome. He will be checking in with doctors frequently for the next month to see how it progresses. Currently the status is not serious. However once all the test results are compared and all information have been gathered it may turn out different.

Here are some information on MVP's Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome:

The incidence of WPW syndrome is between 0.1 and 3% of the general population. Symptoms may include dizziness and palpitations (which are awareness of one's heart rate, usually irregular)

In one point in time, open hearat surgery was used, but the procedure can now be done with local anesthesia in a special cardiac laboratory. With younger people this syndrome can be treated more successfully with surgery rather than enduring a lifetime of drug treaments or the possible threat of sudden cardiac death.

Rhodes keeps on rolling
By Greg Adkins
August 13, 2007

NEW YORK – Cody Rhodes continued to impress our fans and to make legendary papa proud in his Madison Square Garden debut Monday night on Raw. Competing in his first match ever at The Garden, where his father Dusty Rhodes had many classic battles, Cody took down one-half of The Self-Proclaimed World’s Greatest Tag Team, Charlie Haas.

It seems Jonathan Coachman’s threat three weeks ago to kick Cody off of Raw if he failed to win has lit a fire under the young gun. As Haas’ partner, Shelton Benjamin, watched from ringside, Rhodes showed glimpses of his father’s greatness as he was able to escape multiple near pinfalls. After getting caught in Haas’ grasp again with seemingly little hope of escape, Rhodes executed a flawless Reverse Cradle that flipped a stunned Haas onto his back for the three-count. After Cody’s victory, Haas’s tag-team partner Benjamin shot into the ring to exact a measure of revenge. However, young Rhodes thought better of tangling against the two and wisely shot through the ring ropes to fight another day. The future continues to look bright for the son of the son of a plumber.

Also on Raw, the night started off promising enough for Mr. McMahon despite the ongoing controversy raging over the paternity suit alleging that he sired an illegitimate child. He entered the ring surrounded by the seemingly warm glow of dozens of WWE Superstars, apparently there to show their support for the Chairman.

Unfortunately for Mr. McMahon’s his Kumbaya moment was short-lived. After thanking his Superstars for their encouragement, his daughter Stephanie climbed into the ring and brought family dysfunction to a new level. She announced the shocking revelation that her father’s illegitimate child is actually, that’s right, a WWE Superstar!

Executive Assistant Jonathan Coachman immediately went into detective mode, quizzing Mr. McMahon about the dates and locations of his sexual indiscretions over the years in an attempt to narrow the field of potential offspring. Coachman assured the Chairman that he would use all the juicy details to uncover which Superstar was most likely the illegitimate child in time for Saturday Night’s Main Event. The answer couldn’t come soon enough. As Coachman scribbled notes, Mr. McMahon waxed nostalgic about his decades of sexual conquests. Unfortunately for the Chairman, his wife Linda walked up behind him as he unwittingly began to recount one sordid tale involving two “smokin’ hot” flight attendants. After Mr. McMahon turned to find his wife glaring at him, the Missus shook her head and promptly informed him that he no longer had a home.

In other developments, WWE Champion John Cena was forced to share a corner with unlikely tag team partner Umaga to face off against the brash twosome of Randy Orton & Carlito. The WWE Champion, who will face Orton at SummerSlam, charged into the ring despite the numerous land mines that awaited him. With the Samoan Bulldozer (and frequent rival) as his partner, Cena knew that things could turn 3-on-1 ugly, and fast. But he managed to battle Orton and the Caribbean Stud for most of the match before just barely reaching Umaga for the tag. That’s when the Samoan terror entered the ring for maximum impact, manhandling both of his opponents by repeatedly slapping them down to the mat, eventually forcing Carlito into the crushing arms of the WWE Champion, who took glee in slamming the apple-spewing Superstar with an FU to end the match.

And in what was supposed to be King Booker’s crowning achievement, the night of his Royal Coronation, the egotistical monarch found himself cut down to size. After having defeated Jerry “The King” Lawler last week, Booker expected to have Lawler rest a crown atop his head. But it wasn’t meant to be. Instead, Lawler informed his bewildered opponent, and his equally confused wife, Queen Sharmell that Raw General Manager William Regal had arranged a match at SummerSlam between King Booker and the King of Kings, the returning Triple H.

Enraged by this turn of events, the former World Champion took his considerable anger out on Lawler, pummeling the Memphis legend with a television monitor and leaving him crumpled on the floor to be attended to by medics.

In other Raw skirmishes, the oh-so-proud-of-himself Mr. Kennedy entered the ring and latched onto his trademark microphone to announce his arrival in his match against Sandman only to be stopped in mid-syllable by the strains of the ECW Original’s music. Sandman tested Kennedy, but had his hands full with the Green Bay, Wis. Grappler. Kennedy, brimming with confidence since sidelining the mighty Bobby Lashley, rattled Sandman’s jaw with a swift kick to the face, and ultimately rolled his opponent over for the three-count and the victory.

World Tag Team Champions Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch took on their upstart rivals Cryme Tyme in a non-title match. The entrepreneurial duo from Brooklyn pumped up the hometown crowd, even auctioning off Lilian Garcia’s seat for $1,000. The two teams were equally matched until JTG and Shad were disqualified for grabbing the chair they had auctioned off to wield against their opponents in the ring to combat illegal double-teaming by the rednecks.

Meanwhile, Regal continued his love affair with television game shows, this week donning a tight, black shirt in honor of fellow Brit, Simon Cowell. Regal staged a version of WWE Idol, complete with guest judges Maria and the melodious Mick Foley. In honor of their location near Broadway, Diva Jillian Hall showered the capacity crowd with her cringe-worthy version of the classic “Memories.”

Then, WWE Hall of Famers Nikolai Volkoff and the Iron Sheik threw their respective hats in the ring with Volkoff crooning his native Russia’s national anthem. WWE announcer Lilian Garcia, whose new album debuts this fall, graced the audience with her rendition of hometown favorite “New York, New York” until she was interrupted by Santino Marella. The lovelorn Italian cut off Garcia so that he might serenade his lovely Maria with a butchered version of “That’s Amore.” It didn’t take long for Ron Simmons to strut onto the stage to silence Marella the hard way. This earned Simmons such gratitude from Regal that he was automatically named the winner of WWE Idol.

Snitsky, who made quick work of the Highlanders’ Rory McAllister last week, didn’t play any favorites on Monday night. The unpredictable giant disposed Rory’s cousin Robbie just as decisively in well under a minute. The yellow-toothed ogre has looked indestructible for months, and his victories over the formidable Highlanders only shows he is a true force to be reckoned with.

Matches
Mr. Kennedy def. Sandman
Cody Rhodes def. Charlie Haas
Snitsky def. Robbie McAllister
Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch def. Cryme Tyme (disqualification)
John Cena & Umaga def. Randy Orton & Carlito

Last night's show was exactly the same rating as the previous week - 3.8 - still well above the 3.4 rating it had drawn three of the previous four weeks. First hour was 3.7, second hour 3.9.

Manhandling the Extreme
By Lennie DiFino
August 14, 2007

UNCASVILLE, Conn. – On a night when Armando Estrada became the first Cuban-American General Manager in sports-entertainment history, the eccentric Estrada showed he is indeed capable of ruling over the Land of Extreme. The new ECW GM oversaw the contract signing between ECW Champion John Morrison and CM Punk and then ordered the two men into separate action. Morrison took on Boogeyman and the Straightedge Superstar took on Big Daddy V.

While Punk’s night was over after the beating he took, Big Daddy V was just warming up. Later in the night, ECW’s bully decimated Tommy Dreamer in one-on-one action. Dreamer had requested of Estrada to be first in line to challenge the winner of the SummerSlam encounter between ECW Champion John Morrison and CM Punk, but ECW’s General Manager told Dreamer he believed he was lazy. In an effort to prove himself, Dreamer sprinted his way to the ring, only to be flattened by Big Daddy V.

Mirroring Big Daddy V’s impressive streak, Steven Richards looked to continue his winning ways against Kevin Thorn. After two impressive victories over Thorn in recent weeks, Richards was hoping to make it three in a row against the vamp Superstar. Thorn had other plans and finally picked up a victory against Richards. But the angry Thorn continued to unleash his fury on Richards, forcing the referee to reverse his decision and award the contest to Steven Richards.

Balls Mahoney’s interactions with Kelly Kelly continued this week on ECW on Sci Fi, and the ECW Original seems to have sparked a friendship with one of the Sexiest Women on Television, much to the disgust of The Miz, Layla and Brooke.

Speaking of romance, the search for the illegitimate child of Mr. McMahon found its way to ECW. Elijah Burke discussed the possibility that he is a McMahon with Jonathan Coachman. Is it possible that many years ago Mr. McMahon had an encounter that led to his siring an Extreme bastard?

Matches
Big Daddy V def. CM Punk
Big Daddy V def. Tommy Dreamer
Steven Richards def. Kevin Thorn
Boogeyman def. ECW Champion John Morrison (Non-title)

-With TNA signing Pacman Jones and the salary he is being paid, Matt Bentley, Runt and Doug Basham have been cut from TNA.

ComicBloc: Official Wrestling Thread Post #10,281

-Matt Bentley was on last night's Between the Ropes radio show, his TNA contract expires 8.20.07 and he ripped into the company.

-Bentley described that morale in the locker room is poor. The guys feel that they have been working hard, only to be replaced and or shoved down the card by former WWE stars. The company is no longer the fun place it once was to work.

-In regards to all of the talent being brought in, he said that names that are supposed to be big stars are brought to increase ratings and buy rates, but the never rise.

-Instead of being allowed to go out and work hard, the in ring is restricted and they have to deal with “gaga segments” and things of that nature.

-In regards to the Congressional letter to TNA and drug testing, Bentley said that he was never drug tested by TNA nor has any other wrestler that he knows of working for the company.

-He blames Dutch Mantell for the lack of direction and push for Serotonin because, “Mantell didn’t want to be bothered with it.” He also said, in regards to Mantell, "That guy needs to be fired. The only way to kick Jeff (Jarrett) in the ass is to kick Dutch in the back of the head."

-Finally Bentley was upset that after his years of service he was just coldly informed that he was done, there was no thanking him for his tenure with the company and or wishing him well.

Slam Wrestling at canoe.ca is reporting that Dewey Robertson, the Missing Link, passed away this morning. He had been battling cancer.

Robertson began his career in his native Canada in the 1960's under his given name. In 1973 he headed to the United States and returned to Canada as the Masked Crusader a year later.

In 1983 Robertson arrived in Mid-South Wrestling and changed his look, becoming the familiar Missing Link. The Link's green face and tuft of hair (which he would grab before performing a headbutt) saw his popularity explode.

The Link was signed by the World Wrestling Federation in 1985, then returned to World Class a year later. In World Class, the Link had been part of Gen. Skandor Akbar's Devastation Inc. and was later managed by Sunshine. In late 1986, he headed to the now-renamed UWF and was managed by Dark Journey.

Although the Link had retired in the 1990's, he returned to action as the Missing Link in 2004 and competed as recently as 2006.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and family of the Link in this difficult time.

Spread The Word - Boycott TNA IMPACT 8/16
Press Release

August 14, 2007

Grass roots “IGNORE TNA IMPACT INITIATIVE” rapidly gaining steam and generating discussion and debate among frustrated wrestling fans

As you may or may not already be aware, there is a rapidly growing grass roots movement afoot among the internet wrestling fan community to boycott this Thursday's Impact program, airing on 8/16.

Dubbed the "Ignore Impact Initiative", the approach and desired outcome is a positive one. The pro-active “voice of the people” is designed to send a clear, strong message to TNA management regarding widespread dissatisfaction over the recent booking trends and sharp swing back towards intelligence insulting, cheesy gimmickry and outright illogical marketing tactics. This, following an earlier summer series of shows where compelling wrestling based episodes were aired and tested - and without question proven beyond a shadow of doubt to garner consistently higher ratings for the promotion while offering itself as a true alternative for eager viewers.

This viral word-of-mouth boycott has quickly generated an amazingly strong reaction among thousands of frustrated wrestling fans and is spreading as we speak to thousands more. Starting within the talkimpact.com community on the evening of 8/13, the movement has within literally less than a 24 hour period spiked significant net traffic and publicity for the cause. This morning found multiple sports and wrestling hotlines, fan blogs and forums around the world discussing the crusade for change within TNA Wrestling. There is great interest in spotlighting the story from multiple wrestling radio shows, such as Between The Ropes for one prime example, and Brian Alverez of Figure 4 Weekly devoted a full seven minutes to the Ignore Impact Initiative to open his latest audio update today.

Link: http://www.f4wonline.com/content/view/4017/105/

We have received word that several people involved with the Nashville based promotion are on board “off the record” and strongly supportive of this initiative for positive change within TNA creative.

disgusting what they have done with a guy like Matt Bently. a man who was trained by Shawn Michaels no less!

even tho WWE still kinda sucks, at least they might have something better in store for guys like him. i hate myself for saying that, but it might very well be true.

as for the "Ignore Impact Inititive"...i'm going to do it just for tonight and see what happens with the Impact ratings.

lastly, i might be wrong about Mike Tenay...i was reading aroung and it seems like he's actually good, but used just as bad as the rest of the TNA on-screen staff.

I always tape the show and watch it Friday or Saturday (though I always post the results here BEFORE I watch the show).

The last 2 TNA Impact! shows with Kurt Angle doing his little WWE-type storyline did nothing to me except tell me TNA is becoming more and more like WWE every day. Another former WWE star joining (Andrew 'Test' Martin) and already getting pops over more deserving hard-working TNA talent doesn't help any. TNA needs to get back to what it was doing and doing well, concentrating on what's going on INSIDE of the ring instead of teh drama going on OUTSIDE of the ring.

Leave TEH DRAMA to the experts here at the Neo-Geo Forum :tickled:

TNA Impact! Results: 8-16-07

Source: PWTorch (direct link to Caldwell's report)

Edited for length because it read like the show was boring :oh_no:

1 -- CHRISTOPHER DANIELS (w/Elix Skipper and Senshi) vs. JAY LETHAL (w/The Guru) -- #1 Contender match to X Division Title

Daniels jumped Lethal before he could even get out of his gear to start the match. Lethal fired back with right hand blows as Guru worked the tambourine. Daniels then side stepped Lethal and chucked him to the floor. They cut to a break as Senshi slammed Lethal on the floor.

[Commercial Break]

Back from break, Daniels continued to work on Lethal. He went for the BME, but Lethal moved and nailed a top rope kick. Both men recovered on the mat as Guru rocked the tambourine. Lethal then fired up with forearm blows before hitting a knee lift. Daniels came back with an Angel's Wings attempt, but Lethal countered and dropped Daniels to the mat before going up top. Skipper distracted the ref, though, and Daniels crotched Lethal up top. He then took Lethal to the mat with an overhead toss for a close nearfall. Senshi tried to interfere, but Guru jumped in the ring and knocked Senshi to the floor. He then hit a flip dive over the top rope onto Senshi. Daniels was distracted, allowing Lethal to take advantage. Tenay and West screamed in unison that Lethal hit the Lethal Combination. He then made the cover for the win.

WINNER: Lethal in 6:00 to become #1 Contender to the X Division Title. Better than anything on last week's show, but not enough time to tell a complete story, especially when they cut suddenly from the end of the match to another segment. (*3/4)

No time to let the match sink in, as they had to cut backstage where Dr. Nash was given his Angle award. He said he's already won an acting word for his German snuff films, so it's nothing new. Borash then tried to stir it up by saying he spotted Karen eyeing him last week. Nash changed the subject to ask whether Angle was wearing a cup with those red briefs. Borash decided to play spoiler and reveal that gasp! Nash isn't a real doctor. Nash said he is a real doctor and he's only a few months away from becoming licensed.

Backstage, Pacman and Killings walked into Cornette's office for a discussion. Pacman said he has something for Cornette to hear. Killings then talked about ratings making the money. Cornette interjected, "and victories." Oh my! My heart skipped a beat in shock and delight to hear that. Killings said the big idea is Killings and Pacman as tag champions. Killings pitched the idea that it would lead to a media frenzy. Cornette said he knows what Pacman's contract says and he can't let that happen. Killings said, "Team Pacman has a way of getting around any and anything." Is that so? Killings said Cornette has to book the match. Cornette wasn't so agreeable, then he threw Morgan in between them. Killings wanted to know if they could just get along. Cornette instructed Morgan to show them to the parking lot. Killings said they would leave peacefully, but it wouldn't be the same next time.

Kurt and Karen Angle came to the ring holding all of the title belts in TNA. West talked about how he fell hook, line, and sinker. Angle slowly laid out all of the belts on the mat with help from his lovely assistant. Angle then stood at the podium in the ring to announce tonight's celebration. He said they sucked the fans in so deep that the fans never saw the screwing coming to Samoa Joe. Angle then went to the videotape of Karen's acting and Kurt's deep, dark depression while Karen appeared to rip his heart out. Angle sarcastically talked about how that brings a tear to his eye. Angle then said the first award is a tie between Trademarc (The Dude) and Dr. Nash for best supporting actor. Dr. Nash looks like Dr. Black at the WWE annual banquet. Kurt then announced Karen as best actress. She then shouted a promo about the fans being stupid. Kurt covered Karen's ears as they booed her. She thanked Joe for being a sucker. Karen said Joe playing the role of a big, fat victim was second to none.

Cornette and Morgan interrupted and Cornette asked if this is a pro wrestling program or the Golden Globes. He congratulated Angle on winning the belts, but Angle will have to defend all three belts at the next PPV. Cornette booked Angle vs. Lethal for the X Title and Angle vs. Christian-Abyss winner. Cornette said he gave the next match a lot of thought (all of 45 seconds to have a sudden change of heart?!) and booked Angle and a partner against Team Pacman. Angle snapped, then Karen slapped Morgan and Morgan tried to fight back, but security intervened and held him back. Tenay screamed that Joe has arrived in the building. That was about as rushed of a segment as I've ever seen on Impact.

[Commercial Break]

They aired a video package on Abyss to promote the No Surrender PPV. Backstage, Borash plugged the text messaging deal with some inside news on Pacman. Christian interrupted and said no one wants to hear about Pacman or TNA Mobile because they want to hear about him. Christian said he's reached his breaking point and he's never been pinned, so he's the real world champ. Samoa Joe interrupted and said he screamed in Christian's face that he arrives at the building and has to hear Christian's b.s. He screamed at Christian that if he wants to be the real champion, he'll see him in the ring. Joe left, then Christian called out to Tomko and Styles.

They cut to the ring where Christian was suddenly on the entrance ramp walking to the ring for his match. Abyss then walked out for the #1 Contender match.

2 -- CHRISTIAN CAGE vs. ABYSS

Abyss, with his left elbow taped, went on the offensive early on and hit the Umaga charging rear splash in the corner on Christian's face. He tried to ram Christian head-first into the turnbuckle, but Christian fought him off. Abyss then took Christian to the outside and accepted a drop toe hold into the ring steps. Tomko suddenly came to ringside and took off his shirt as they cut to a break.

[Commercial Break]

They came back and showed Tomko handing Christian a screwdriver during the break. The ref sent Tomko packing and Christian tried to open up Abyss, but Abyss blocked. Back to live action, Christian went for the Conchairto, but Abyss blocked and nailed a big boot. They teased finishers, then Abyss punched the chair directly into Christian's face. Christian landed a drop toe hold, then went up top, but Abyss grabbed him by the throat. Abyss teased a chokeslam, but Christian shoved Abyss into a chair in the corner. The ref said No Bingo...er... No blood and the match continued. Styles came to ringside and gave Christian a barbed wire bat, then Samoa Joe ran to ringside and yanked the barbed wire away. Joe chased Styles around the ring, then Abyss took advantage of the distraction and nailed a chair shot to the face. Christian turned his face to the mat, then the ref checked on Christian, who was bleeding. Abyss is the winner.

WINNER: Abyss in 7:00 to retain #1 Contender status. Rushed TV match to hurt the credibility of the gimmick for a future PPV match. At least it wasn't a bleeding hangnail, but Christian wasn't gushing like Cornette built it up in the earlier segment. (*)

After the match, Abyss held Christian's head in victory. Suddenly, Angle hit the ring and jumped Abyss. He landed successive right hand blows before landing a chair shot to the head. Karen entered the ring to get a closer look as Angle continued to land chair shots. Angle then handed the chair to Karen, but Cornette interrupted again, this time from the videotron. Cornette screamed from his office that it will be Angle against the Steiners on Impact next week. Geez, the guy's going to blow a gasket. He shouted that Karen will be ringside and if the Steiners win, they will get five minutes alone with Karen next week. Karen screamed at Kurt, who tried to calm her down. Kurt held his head to think things over.
