There you go, I said it.

GET A LIFE YOU FUCKING LOSERS!

This “Blu Ray FTW!!!” and “HDDVD FTW!!!” shit is lame, knock it the fuck off. You went out, bought a player and took it home. You didn’t join a team, you didn’t buy into something greater than you, there’s nothing to cheer for.

It’s a fucking software format, nothing more, nothing less. You watch movies on it, get a life.

I can go along with this.

Prefering something over another isnt a bad thing. Its just being overly opinioned and biased for no reason is.

I'm pulling for HD-DVD to win it all, but I still think Blu-Ray is awesome and have no problem picking up the exclusives I can't get on HD-DVD. People just need to understand that if you wan't the best of HD content in general, you have to embrace both formats.

To say you prefer a format is fine by me…hell, I prefer HDDVD so far…it’s cheaper.

Being a dumbshit fanatic about a video format is what bother’s me.

The fact is…that you’re right. For the time being your going to have to own both in order to get everything currently available. I’ll be getting a Blu Ray player soon enough, there will be movies on that format I want to have.

Eventually one will win out but right now the smoke hasn’t even begun to clear. People that declare the “winner” at this point are simply being morons, there’s zero proof that either is failing yet.

Believe you me, I want one to fail so I’ll only have to focus on one format. It would make my purchases much easier.

I just got an HDDVD player and so far it is cool. But I don't really give a shit if a movie is on HD or Blu Ray. The only reason why I got an HDDVD player was the price.
I think it sucks that when I look over to the blu-ray section there are way more titles. But there is also alot more shit movies for it that I don't want. So guess it evens itself out.
I probably will eventually get a ps3 anyways. So I don't really care what movie is on what platform.
This whole format war is pretty useless anyways. The multi-format players are going to come down in price within the next couple years. And that is going to cancel everything out. It will be the whole DVD-R DVD+R bullshit all over again.

At $300-$600 a player and $30-$45 per title, they both suck.

Don't be silly. There are no $45 movies out there, save for Wings Of Honneamise, which is $80. Swan Lake is $45, but I wouldn't call that a movie. And you're dumb if you're paying full MSRP anyway.

Also it's not like DVD players were cheap when they first came out.

Look at the List Price/MSRP: $79.99... I wouldn't know where to buy it at full MSRP online anyway though.

For me it's not about which format is "the best" or "winning" It's all about the movies they offer. I'd much rather watch The Thing, Hot Fuzz, The Matrix, The Bourne series, Serenity, Dune and Fearless over just about anything BR has to offer ATM.

I route for HDDVD but if BR could provide me with the better titles I'd be all for it.

In fact yesterday I went through a list of BR titles and could only come up with about 12 that I would buy compared to the 30+ HDDVD exclusives I own now.

I also agree that if Universal isn't willing to go neutral or HDDVD doesn't fail as a whole within the next 2 years a dual format player will be an HD enthusiasts best option.

whats the reason for honneamise being that that price? is the package just THAT badass or are there a ton of extras? i liked that movie a lot but $80 is crazy.

Bandai Visual has a slightly odd way of deciding their prices. They also have Freedom vol. 1, a 30 minute OVA episode, on HD DVD, with a list price of $40. The prices are basically the same as what they'd be in Japan.

Obviously you've never seen an HD movie on a good display then. All of this 'DVD > HD DVD/Blu-ray' crap would go away if people had actually seen the formats performing anywhere near their potential. You're not going to see that on a 37" LCD TV.

I'd like to know why some people think that DVD is better than the two new formats. Is it price? I'll agree with that, obviously, as it's better to pay less, but that also ends the list of pros for the DVD format...
