1 -- ROBERT ROODE (w/Ms. Brooks) vs. STING

Roode tried to smash Sting - and his t-shirt - into the corner turnbuckle, but Sting countered and slammed Roode head-first into the top, middle, and bottom corner turnbuckles. The fight spilled to the floor and Sting took off his t-shirt before slamming Roode into the guardrail. Brooks tried to distract Sting, who then walked into a punch to the gut. Roode went for a piledriver on the ramp, but Sting countered with a back body drop onto the ramp. Roode then shoved Brooks into Sting, who turned around as Roode slammed a chair over his back. So, this one is No DQ as well. Roode repeated the chair shot to the back, then rolled Sting back into the ring. Suddenly, Eric Young came to ringside sporting the Sting facepaint.

[Commercial Break]

Back to the action, Brooks jumped on the apron and slapped Sting, but Sting did his Superman comeback to scare Roode off the apron. He then dumped Roode with a hip toss and fired up a comeback. He hit a Stinger Splash, then went for the Scorpion Deathlock, but Roode escaped and hit a spinebuster for a nearfall at 8:00. Roode then tried to use a chair, but Young ripped the chair away from Roode, who walked into the Scorpion Death drop. Sting then made the cover for the win. Afterward, Young jumped into the ring and hugged Sting like a fanboy. Roode chastised Brooks ringside.

WINNER: Sting in 9:00. Standard TNA TV match. The Sting/Young coalition was inevitable and could be intriguing. (*1/2)

[Q2]

They showed a sit-down interview with Mike Tenay and Dustin Rhodes. Weird exchange between Tenay and Rhodes on him pulling off the Goldust character. He said there's always been a side of him for the last 34 years that's wanted to come out. Some sort of dual personality that he said is coming out. That was disturbing in a change-the-channel kind of way.

They cut to a Kurt Angle psychiatry meeting. The camera focused tight on Angle's face as he talked. He said his mom loved him more than his other brothers and sisters. Angle said he was beating up every six year-old on the block because he was better than everyone else. He said everyone was always jealous of him. Angle said everyone has to decide whether he or she wants to wear Armani suits or take care of spoiled brats at an orphanage. They never showed who he was talking to.

[Commercial Break]

They returned to part 2 of Kurt Angle's session. He said the hot girls always chased him, but not the skanky ones like the girls who hang around the Impact zone. Angle said he always had to turn them down because he couldn't keep them out of his pants, so now they're bitter at him. He said his wife is even proud to be Mrs. Kurt Angle.

2 -- CHRIS SABIN & ALEX SHELLEY vs. LAX (HOMICIDE & HERNANDEZ)

LAX hit the ring and the Motor City Machine Guns took the attack to them. Tenay pointed out that Nash was nowhere to be found. LAX worked babyface here, and Hernandez quickly took control for LAX after a minute. Hernandez tossed the heels around the ring before setting up Shelley for a power move, only to have Sabin catch him in the gut with a kick. Sabin dropped Hernandez with an STO before Sabin hit a kick to the face for a nearfall. Homicide then tossed Sabin to the floor before LAX worked on Shelley. Sabin jumped back into the ring and slipped out of the Cop Killah before kicking Homicide in the face with a big boot. He went for a corner move, but Hernandez caught Sabin on his shoulders. Hernandez then nailed the Ace Crusher on Sabin from Hernandez's shoulders for the pin and the win.

After the match, Team 3D stormed the ring and received a "3D sucks" chant. Devon told LAX that their business doesn't concern them. He told LAX that they're has-beens. LAX bailed from ringside as Team 3D called out the Steiners.

WINNERS: LAX in 3:00. Somewhere, there was a babyface turn for LAX that we all missed. In any event, too short of a match to amount to much other than a transition to Team 3D's segment. (3/4*)

[Commercial Break]

[Q3]

Team 3D was still in the ring following the break. Scott Steiner's siren music hit, then Scott walked out with Rick. Don West then filled in some of the details on what happened to Scott in Puerto Rico. Scott stepped into the ring and said the Puerto Rican people are his favorite people right now because they saved his life. Ray started laughing, then Scott cut him off and said maybe Ray would gain a few more fat cells standing there while he talks. Scott said he never misses a match, and he definitely wouldn't have missed the match with Team 3D unless he had a near-death experience. Scott said he just missed dying, then he thanked the doctors, nurses, and fans who showed him support. Ray said the reason why Scott didn't show up is because Team 3D is better than the Steiners ever were. He asked Scott what kind of surgery he had if there are no scars. Scott then pulled off his shirt and the camera focused on a huge scar around Scott's right side. He explained how the doctors went into his body to fix his trachea. Ray said that was nothing more than a paper cut in ECW. Scott said they weren't champions in a bingo hall, but world champions in WCW. The James Gang then stepped in and B.G. talked all the way to the ring about being the best tag team in the world. Scott said they were on top of the wrestling world sitting on top of crap in WWF. He said the wrestling world was on a high because everyone was tuning in to watch them on WCW. Suddenly, the action broke down and it looked like a bunch of old men fighting in the nursing home over a game of dominoes. A pointless segment that shows how out of touch with reality TNA can be at times when six wrestlers are talking about the "glory days" like a bunch of former football jocks reminiscing at the 10-year high school reunion, when there is a current wrestling scene that should be more important than who people tuned in to watch 10 years ago. LAX then made the save when Team 3D started choking Scott and Rick with a Puerto Rican flag.

[Commercial Break]

Part 3 of Angle's session continued to TNA. He wanted to know what he ever did to TNA. He said that if you take the Kurt Angle out of TNA, you have an independent show that draws 50 people at the most. Angle said he's trying to take all the credit for TNA's success because he's comparable to Gandhi, George Washington, and Martin Luther "the King". The camera pulled back to reveal Kevin Nash sitting in a chair listening to Angle while sporting a Speedo. He asked for a little time in the tanning bed. Angle told him to clean up when he's done. Afterward, Don West wanted to know how much Nash charges for a session.

[Q4]

3 -- ABYSS vs. A.J. STYLES -- No DQ match

Styles jumped Abyss before the opening bell, but Abyss quickly flipped him to the mat with a back body drop. Abyss then did the Umaga rear splash on Styles, or as Don West put it: "He just creamed his head." Abyss went for a power move, but Styles slipped out. He then charged Abyss, who flipped him over the top rope to the floor.

[Commercial Break]

Back from break, there was a chair in the chair. Meanwhile, Styles kicked Abyss, who was on his knees in the ring. They showed footage from during the break of Styles creaming Abyss with a chair. Styles walked into a boot to the gut, then Abyss went for a powerbomb, but Styles countered into a sunset flip. He went for the springboard reverse DDT, but Abyss moved and threw Styles head-first into the chair. Abyss then hit the Shock Treatment out of the torture rack position and he scored a nearfall. Abyss and Styles then traded finishing move attempts. Tenay said that Samoa Joe has been training this week (footage, maybe?) and he would be on Impact next week. After a lull, Abyss connected with a chokeslam for a nearfall. Tomko then sauntered to ringside. Meanwhile, Styles walked into the Black Hole Slam, but Tomko broke up the follow-up pin.

The lights then went down, and Sting appeared when they came back on. He KO'ed Styles and Tomko, then he told Abyss to go under the ring. Abyss pulled out a thumbtack bag, but someone grabbed Abyss's feet and dragged him under the ring. The announcers assumed Christian, but it's probably Banderas-related. Suddenly, Abyss re-emerged covered in what was assumed to be blood. Christian then appeared on the entrance ramp with his security peeps. He walked to ringside and pulled out the tack bag. In the ring, Christian dumped the broken glass in center ring. Ringside, Abyss crawled around in pain. Back in the ring, Tomko slammed Sting back-first into the broken glass. Sting sold the move for a few seconds, then rolled to the other side of the ring. The heels then grabbed Abyss and dragged him into the ring. Styles pulled out another bag, this time the thumbtacks. Christian dumped the tacks on top of the glass, then Tomko picked up Abyss and gave him a two-hand chokeslam onto the tacks/glass. Oh, wait, there's a match. Styles covered the Abyss scrap heaps for the pin and the win.

WINNER: Styles in 12:00. This is what happens when a promotion neglect a previous huge and bloody beating. They have to repeat it because they didn't reinforce it the first time. Not quite a memorable show-closing moment because we've seen too many bloody beatings recently that haven't been reinforced, especially going back to Rhino's beating at the last PPV. (*3/4)

Man, I saw TNA for the first time in don't know how long! It was tight! AJ Styles is a bad guy? Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe fighting for FIVE titles? Jeez, how did Joe get both titles in the first place? I'm glad Kurt Angle still has the IWGP title! Yeah!

Check out Post #7011 for the details on how Samoa Joe has the X division and TNA tag team titles. Angle has the TNA and IWGP titles. Joe pinned Team 3-D in the last PPV to get their belts in a champion vs champion match.

jesus christ. i guess the belts don't mean shit these days. this hornswaggle story needs to be aborted and soon. because it's assenine. "it's a midget with a title!" it's funny for about 5 minutes. then when they make him defend the title, and actually win? wow what bullshit.

yeah, and for a "face" commentator...he always seems swarmy and fake.

Don West (the obvious "HSN guy" i was referring to. my memory was shot last night, lol) is bad, but he has some sort of weird likeability to him and at least he has some sort of (annoying) catchphrase. ("DID YOU SEE THAT???!!!")

Who's ready to clash after The Bash?
By Alissa Fuhrman
July 27, 2007

FRESNO, Calif. – Indian music enveloped the Save Mart Center in Fresno Friday Night, as there was a Punjabi “Championship Celebration” for the new World Heavyweight Champion, The Great Khali. The giant, along with translator Ranjin Singh, plus numerous dancers and worshippers from India, partied Punjabi-style inside the ring – that is, until Batista came to crash the party. The Animal – who dominated earlier that evening in singles competition against WWE Tag Team Champion Deuce – never took his rage-filled eyes off the 7-foot-3 monster as he challenged him to a one-on-one match for the World Heavyweight Championship. When Khali rejected his request, Batista exploded and speared the champion.

Another enraged SmackDown Superstar was Jamie Noble, who on Friday night was given another chance at the Cruiserweight Title – and an opportunity for revenge against the newest and littlest champion to date, Hornswoggle. After the humiliation Hornswoggle had caused Noble at The Great American Bash, pinning him to win the title in the Cruiserweight Open, Noble was certain he would take the gold out of Hornswoggle’s miniature hands. But in the long run, Noble came up short again as SmackDown’s leprechaun outsmarted him by winning via a count-out.

In other SmackDown action, North Carolinians Matt Hardy and Ric Flair were Ballin’ after defeating United States Champion Montel Vontavious Porter and Chris Masters in tag team action. After the loss, MVP pointed out that since he wasn’t the one who was actually pinned by Matt, he still is better than him. The frustrated Hardy then made some demands of his own, telling SmackDown’s Franchise Playa to put his money where his mouth is and grant him a rematch for the United States Championship. When the hotshot champion insisted that his title was off the table, Matt proposed another challenge:

“I'll name the game, and I’ll beat you…again and again and again and again…. I’ll beat you so bad, you’ll have to defend the United States Championship against me. And when you do, I will prove I’m better than you.”

Meanwhile, dressed head-to-toe in cowboy boots, tight jeans and cowboy hats, the beautiful Torrie Wilson teamed up with SmackDown’s resident redneck, Jimmy Wang Yang, for intergender tag action against Victoria & Kenny Dykstra. Catapulted to victory after an impressive moonsault by Yang, the two Superstars “yee-hawed” all the way to the locker room area.

Even though former Cruiserweight Champion Chavo Guerrero couldn’t retain his title at The Great American Bash, he still has quite a mean streak, judging from the way he handled Eugene. Despite SmackDown’s wrestling savant displaying some impressive in-ring maneuvers, in the end it wasn’t enough to stop the methodically malicious Guerrero from scoring the pinfall.

Kane, meanwhile, showed our fans and Dave Taylor just how much he relishes inflicting pain, defeating the brash Brit in a matter of minutes with an emphatic chokeslam. Mark Henry picked up an even quicker victory, however, by viciously destroying Joey Blalock with one of his brutal bearhugs. The self-proclaimed “king of the SmackDown jungle” then roared to the crowd that no Superstar on the SmackDown roster could beat him.

Mind games before SummerSlam
By Bryan Robinson
July 30, 2007
TUSCON, Ariz. – Less than four weeks away from the biggest party of the summer, SummerSlam, Superstars were already playing mind games with each other and appeared hell-bent on sending messages throughout the locker room and all of WWE. But Cody Rhodes may have sent the most definitive message with his first victory Monday night on Raw: I belong in WWE and I will not back down from anything, no matter what the odds are.

Cody breathed a sigh of relief and pumped his fist as he looked at the fallen body of Daivari with his blackened eye. For two weeks, our fans – and especially Acting Raw GM Jonathan Coachman – watched Cody valiantly try to defend the honor of his father, the “American Dream” Dusty Rhodes and his family against Randy Orton, only to fall victim to the RKO. And Cody watched in horror as Orton punted his father into oblivion – and the Dream was taken away from the ring on a stretcher.

Coachman, noting that Cody was winless in his first two matches, gave the newcomer a simple ultimatum: win or go home. Prove that you belong in WWE and win an official spot on the Raw roster with a victory over Daivari.

The pressure on the youngest son of Dusty Rhodes was enormous. Besides having his young career already at a critical point, his ailing father – who was at home in Austin, Texas, recovering from a severe concussion – had to weigh on his mind. In addition, Cody may have carried some lingering guilt that he was he was responsible for his father’s injury.

However, the son of the son of a plumber showed the heart and resolve that was a hallmark in his father’s career. He overcame his personal demons and self-doubt and managed to defeat Daivari, and showed the Raw locker room that he had arrived.

Also on Raw, Randy Orton, Coachman’s handpicked No. 1 contender to the WWE Championship, used Hall of Famer Sgt. Slaughter and Carlito to send a loud and clear message to WWE Champion John Cena: I’m coming for your championship and your career at SummerSlam, but before then, I’m going to make your life a living hell.

On the heels of his brutal attack on the American Dream, the third-generation Superstar laid out Cena with an RKO from behind last week, drawing the line in the proverbial sand for their SummerSlam showdown.

To further show Cena that he was serious, Orton this week struck down another WWE legend, Sgt. Slaughter, the same way he has his other recent victims – with a vicious skull-caving boot to the head.

But Orton wasn’t finished playing with Cena as he later cost him his non-title match against Carlito. The second-generation Caribbean Superstar wanted to prove that he deserved to be the No.1 contender by defeating Cena. Ironically, Orton helped Carlito prove his point when he distracted Cena and left him vulnerable to the Caribbean Superstar’s Backstabber.

Carlito left Cena with chewed-up apple and spit dripping off his face. It appears that the infuriated Champ has a lot to think about, and must be wary of Orton in the weeks leading up to SummerSlam.

Another Superstar Cena may have to worry about is Mr. Kennedy, who also wanted to be the No. 1 contender. Kennedy made perhaps his loudest statement yet in WWE (and that’s saying something). The braggadocios Superstar, who vowed to WWE.com over the weekend that he would somehow find a way to reclaim his top spot in WWE, was granted a request to battle Bobby Lashley to show that he deserved to be the No. 1 contender to the WWE Championship.

There was a fire in Kennedy’s booming voice and a gleam in his eyes that few of our fans and Superstars had ever seen in the Green Bay, Wis., native. The former Mr. Money in the Bank wanted to prove a point, and he sure did in his battle with Lashley. Kennedy did the unthinkable – he injured the powerful former ECW Champion, who nearly ended Cena’s nearly year-long championship reign at The Great American Bash.

Two rivals – specifically royal rivals – who failed to find a real resolution in their battle over the title “King” in WWE were King Booker and Jerry “The King” Lawler. The time for squabbling ended Monday night on Raw as Booker and Lawler attempted to once and for all settle the debate over who was true king of WWE in the squared circle. But alas, though Lawler won by disqualification after Booker refused to stop punching him in the corner, Monday’s battle between these regal rulers settled nothing. Monday night’s encounter assured only one thing: Booker and Lawler are far apart from a diplomatic solution to their royal war.

As kings in WWE, both Booker and Lawler love law and order in their kingdoms. And so apparently, does Santino Marella – as long as it benefits him. Last week on Raw, Marella had used questionable tactics to help his paramour, Maria, and Women’s Champion Candice Michelle get the victory in a tag team match, but Maria made him promise never to do that again.

This week, Marella was outraged when Melina, Jillian Hall & Beth Phoenix used chicanery to defeat Maria, Candice & Mickie James. The fiery Italian berated the referee and suggested that WWE had crooked referees, like the alleged ones in the NBA. As Santino’s tirade continued, Intercontinental Champion Umaga – who has never forgiven or forgotten Marella’s upset win for his championship months ago – stomped his way to the ring. The ref, against Marella’s protests, rang the bell for an impromptu match, which the Samoan Bulldozer won in devastating fashion.

One team who looked impressive this week on Raw and may be looking to send a message in the tag team division is Cryme Tyme. The duo from Harlem, N.Y., returned after weeks of absence with a win. As is typical Cryme Tyme style, Shad and JTG brought a smile to our fans’ faces when they made some “money, money … yeah, yeah!” after selling one of the boots of their hapless opponents to a member of the Raw fan nation.

Matches
Melina, Jillian Hall & Beth Phoenix def. Women's Champion Candice Michelle, Mickie James & Maria
Intercontinental Champion Umaga def. Santino Marella (non-title)

Mr. Kennedy def. Bobby Lashley

Man, RAW was weak last night! Only rewarding situation to come out of watching it was Carlito's win over Cena. It looked like Orton fucked up as he tried to distract Cena. For some reason, my praise on Orton just went down a couple of points. Only noteworth match was Jerry Lawler and Booker T. Jerry made Booker look good but the way it ended sucked R. Kelly doo-doo butter!

A 2 out of 5!

ECW on Sci-Fi Results: 7-31-07

A chance for fame
By Andrew Rote
July 31, 2007
PHOENIX – John Morrison kicked off ECW on Sci Fi much like last week, barely breaking a sweat when he faced a less-than-intimidating opponent in his 15 Minutes of Fame Challenge. Things were very different afterward, however, this time around.

Tommy Dreamer and CM Punk both approached the ECW Champion, arguing that each of them could last 15 minutes in the ring with Morrison. Their cases made, Morrison announced a Triple Threat Match between the two Superstars and Elijah Burke – a man he feels deserves the opportunity.

Next week’s action should prove interesting, with CM Punk earning his way into the ECW Championship picture by defeating Tommy Dreamer and Elijah Burke in the main event Triple Threat Match. CM Punk has had two golden opportunities against John Morrison, both of which fell short at Vengeance: Night of Champions and The Great American Bash. Before he can prove that the third time is a charm, though, he must last 15 minutes in the squared circle against his rival. And this will be his last chance, as he has promised never to challenge Morrison again if he fails this time around.

Also on ECW on Sci Fi, Stevie Richards silenced any of his critics who called the previous week’s win over Kevin Thorn a fluke. Getting a second consecutive win against the fanged freak raises a red flag for all Superstars on the ECW roster. While Richards moves up as one of the hottest Superstars in sports-entertainment right now, Kevin Thorn is lying in a coffin of frustrations. His expression alone showed our fans what the vampire enthusiast is feeling, losing two straight to the ECW Original after such a successful solo run. Perhaps Richards truly has staked the creature of the night.

Following Richards’s big win, our fans learned that something can scare a 400-plus-pound man. After proving to be too much for even three men to handle in a Handicap Match, Big Daddy V was spooked by Boogeyman, sporting a new and scarier look, when the worm aficionado rushed into the ring. While nothing may compare to the physical stature of the heavy father figure, Boogeyman’s mind games certainly have been able to break Matt Striker’s favorite student.

In other action, The Miz earned his second win in as many weeks when he defeated ECW Original Balls Mahoney. Once again, he showed he was the ladies man, though he lost track of Kelly Kelly for a moment, who seemed distracted by Mahoney’s condition. Nevertheless, The Miz was able to get her attention away from the Chair Swinging Freak and back to him.

Matches
John Morrison def. Local (15 Minutes of Fame)
Stevie Richards def. Kevin Thorn
Big Daddy V def. Locals (3-on-1 Handicap Match)
The Miz def. Balls Mahoney
CM Punk def. Elijah Burke and Tommy Dreamer (Triple Threat Match)

Here's are many reason why (IMO) ratings are dropping;

1. Raw Creative Team sucks: They cannot write or book to save their lives. That's why you're getting stale feuds and weak storylines. I mean look at this way; the feud that Cena has with Khali, is the same feud that Cena has with Orton, or the same feud with Lashley. Cena's opponent attacks him and tries to weaken before the PPV, and then, Cena ends up winning. There's no uniqueness or difference between any of the feuds at all. Also, the creative team cannot push or make new stars. The fact that they had to take Booker and Kennedy from SD, two of SD biggest stars, tells you that the RAW creative team cannot make any stars. And RAW is supposed to be your A show. And the people that do push aren't entertaining in the ring or on the mic. So, that's why you're getting characters like Umaga, Santino, John Cena's "untouchable" Marine gimmick, etc.

2. Cena being "Superman" gimmick character: It's obivous that Cena has gotten stale, not only in the ring, but, on the mic and his character have grow stale among the WWE fans. So much so, that the kids and casual fans that he's supposed to be appealing to, are turning away from Cena. How sad is that? They are getting tired of him always overcoming the odds, and always saving the day. That's why Hogan started to get booed in the '90s before he joined the NWO. He's a prime example of a character created by the RAW creative team. Because if you remember, when he was on SD, he had the rapper gimmick, which he had far better promos, then, what he has now.

3. Redundant feuds, non-interesting storylines: Guys that are on TV are stuck in the same exact feuds that were done before, just before, they started that feud. For example: Cena's feud with Khali is no different than his feud with Orton, or Carlito getting stuck in the same storyline with Torrie than what we was in with Trish Stratus.

4. Too many PPVs: There are far too many PPVs, so, there's a very limited time that they build up a good feud. I mean, you have two weeks in between New Year's Revolution and Royal Rumble. And, One Night Stand and Vegenace are only 2 weeks apart, so, how can you build up a good feud with 2 people so that people will want to see them in a match, so the matches mean something. It either seems lackluster or rushed. Thus resulting lackluster RAW shows and low PPV buyrates.

5. Lack of starpower: Right now, all of WWE's major stars are injured right now. HHH, HBK, Edge (transfer to SD, but injured), Lashley (just got injured). Mostly all of the most over guys on RAW are on the shelf. The only starpower you have is Cena, right now, a lot of people are tired of seeing him. That's why people can't wait for HHH to come back. Quite frankly, I don't what to see HHH hog the title like he did back in 2002-2004. But, that's another rant. But, anyway, the lack of stars on RAW right now, is what's turning most casual fans, because those are the fans are the ones that mostly watch RAW.

Those are some of the reason that I can think of the top of my head.

TNA right now at this point is becoming another WCW, with godawful writing. I mean does this make sense, to have all your belts centered on two guys, mean which basically means, you're killing your tag team and X Division. Because, those divisons don't mean shit anymore.

Add Jeff Hardy to the list. He's out for an extended rest. Over in Smackdown, Undertaker's still recuperating and Rey Mysterio will be coming back soon.

TNA Impact on Spike TV
August 2, 2007
Taped July 30 in Orlando, Florida
Report by James Caldwell, Torch columnist

1 -- TEAM 3D (BROTHER RAY & BROTHER DEVON) vs. ERIC YOUNG & CHRIS HARRIS

Don West said Eric Young has gained confidence by his constant humiliation of Robert Roode. Only in TNA can someone pants another individual and gain confidence as a wrestler. Team 3D jumped Harris to start things off, then Harris came back with a left-arm clothesline and high vertical suplex on Devon. Young took a tag, then Ray came in for 3D and jumped into an arm drag before accepting a dropkick. Ray caught Young from behind with a clothesline, then he pulled his pants up before going on the attack. Young came back with a dropkick, then he tried to tag Harris, but Dustin Rhodes pulled Harris off the apron. A brawl ensued on the floor, then back in the ring, Young rolled up Ray for a close nearfall. Team 3D took over with it down to two-on-one. They executed - and I use that term loosely - a spike piledriver for the win. Not pretty. After the match, Robert Roode and Ms. Brooks walked to the ring while Team 3D played to the crowd.

WINNERS: Team 3D in 4:00. Just a tag match. There was no psychology in the ring, as Team 3D was simply doing what heels teams are supposed to do in a step 1, step 2, step 3 manner, but almost making a mockery of the heel beat down process before the babyface hot tag. (1/2*)

[Commercial Break]

Back from break, Roode was putting a beating on Eric Young on the floor. Roode screamed at Young that no one embarrasses Robert Roode. He poured tar on Young's chest, then Roode busted open a pillow and spread the feathers across Young's body. Young tried to roll out of the mess, but Roode pulled Young up to the camera so everyone could get a good look.

[Q2]

Backstage, Jeremy Borash did his Scheme Gene promo for the text messaging service. He then interviewed Samoa Joe about his training last week. Joe said training doesn't even begin to explain what he put his body through last week. He said he's bringing a war to Kurt Angle, even if he has to go through Angle's family to get to Angle.

[Commercial Break]

Backstage, Borash ran down Kurt Angle, his wife, and daughter at catering. Angle asked his wife if she wanted a cup of coffee, and she said yes, so he told her to go get it herself. Her daughter asked for a candy bar, then Angle asked if she wants to look fat like Samoa Joe or have thunder thighs like mommy. Angle said it's time to get it out in the open. He told his wife that she has more rolls than a bakery, so it's time to look the part of Kurt Angle's wife. Ringside, Tenay put on his sour face as West talked about the crap that Angle is putting his wife through.

They made the Bound for Glory announcement for Atlanta in October.

Triple X came to the ring for a four-man tag match. The Guru then came out and Don West said you could see the radiation on Sonjay Dutt's face. Well, time to evacuate the building in that case. Jay Lethal followed out.

2 -- TRIPLE X (SENSHI & CHRISTOPHER DANIELS w/Elix Skipper) vs. THE GURU SONJAY DUTT & BLACK MACHISMO JAY LETHAL

Dutt and Lethal hit a dual splash on the floor to start things off. Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin came to ringside as Mike Tenay spoke vaguely about TNA making national headlines. But, wait, sign up for the text messaging service to find out more! In the ring, Triple X worked on Lethal, who took a leaping kick to the face from Senshi. Tenay said they would address the title situation in TNA after the Hard Justice PPV when the Angle vs. Joe match decides the owner of all the belts. Daniels missed with a dropkick, then Lethal tagged out to the Guru, who hit a springboard dive on Daniels for a nearfall. The action broke down and Skipper interfered against Lethal behind the ref's back. Senshi then came off the top with the double foot stomp on Guru, followed by the Best Moonsault Ever from Daniels for the win.

WINNERS: Triple X in 5:00. They're effectively building up Triple X, and they've invested zero time in Guru lately, so it makes sense to continue pushing him down the X Division ladder. (*1/4)

They quickly cut to a promo from Abyss and Sting backstage. Sting said it's time to play with weapons in their tag match. He said they might have a surprise for Christian and Styles tonight. Abyss then talked about there being no more tricks, no more surprises, and retribution beginning. Wait, Sting just said there would be a surprise. Now my hopes are dashed.

[Q3]

[Commercial Break]

Backstage, the camera found Angle, his wife Karen, Kevin Nash, and Jeremy Borash in a room. Angle wanted Dr. Nash to psychoanalyze his wife. He then accused Karen of checking out Nash's package. Angle tore into her for being fat, a slut, and having makeup like a circus clown. He continued on and on about having cottage cheese and needing liposuction. Nash said he could squeeze her in for an appointment on Monday, but she said she has a doctor's appointment on Monday. Angle left after ripping her for being fat, then Nash said he has a nice little acting career going. He asked if she's seen any of his films. She had enough and walked off after saying wrestlers are all alike. Nash hated to see her go, but enjoyed watching her walk away. Why not take this Angle storyline all the way and have Angle choke her out already?

Christian Cage and A.J. Styles came to the ring, followed by Sting and Abyss. They started fighting on the floor to begin the main event match.

3 -- ABYSS & STING vs. CHRISTIAN CAGE & A.J. STYLES -- ladder match

Abyss ran over the heels in the opening minute as the camera focused on the contract hanging above the ring. Sting and Abyss then ran over the heels with a ladder as they cut to a break.

[Commercial Break]

Back from break, Sting was trying to climb the ladder, but Christian cut him off and they traded right hand blows on the ladder. Sting then threw Christian off the ladder to the mat below. Sting tried to climb the ladder, but Styles hit a springboard fist smash on Sting to knock him down. They went for the Styles vs. Abyss ladder match-up and Abyss got the best of him with a chokeslam. Tomko then hit the ring and smashed Abyss from behind with a chair shot. Suddenly, Andrew Martin walked to the ring and jumped Tomko. The two generic big white men brawled, then Martin dumped Tomko to the outside. Martin then backed into Abyss and Sting, who stared him down with a questioning look. Martin answered their questions by catching Styles in mid-air and press slamming him over the top rope onto Christian and Tomko. Abyss then climbed the ladder and grabbed the contract to win the match and name his specialty match at Hard Justice.

WINNERS: Sting & Abyss in 9:00. The story of the match was Martin debuting in TNA, while the "wrestling" was secondary to setting up Abyss's revenge opportunity against Christian at the PPV. Other than the obvious of TNA hiring anyone who's ever set foot in WWE to make TNA seem somewhat relevant, I don't feel strongly one way or another on Test debuting until we see how he's used. (*)

[Q4]

[Commercial Break]

Backstage, Borash found Sting's group. Martin said the sides are now even. He said he's been sitting at home for a while watching Christian Cage's group running rampant in TNA. Martin said that when you get a chance to work with a legend, Sting, and the future of the business, Abyss, you take the opportunity. Martin said there's a new enforcer in TNA: the Punisher Andrew Martin.

Kurt Angle's music hit, then Angle walked to the ring in a suit with the title belts over his shoulders. Karen then walked out behind Angle. He took the mic and said he is the most misunderstood man in pro wrestling. He said he is a loving and caring father. Angle said he brought his wife out here to explain a few things about him. He said it must be difficult for Karen to live in his shadow. Karen wouldn't talk, then Angle asked if she's deaf. Angle was going to do the explaining, but Samoa Joe walked out and said Kurt Angle is a horse's ass. He stormed the ring as Angle put Karen in front of him. Classic heel tactic. Angle asked Joe if he would hit his wife. Karen then took the mic and stepped in front of Joe. She ripped into Angle and said he's treated his family like dogs for 12 years. Angle ripped the mic away and said no one wants to hear from her. Joe ripped the mic away and said people want to hear what she has to say. Karen then said she's sick of the world titles and especially the Olympic gold medal. She told Angle to shove the medal where the sun doesn't shine. Karen then screamed that as of right now, their marriage is over. She quickly exited, and Angle tried to make nice, but she bailed. Joe then cut off Angle and cut a promo on him. He said he would be taking the belts from Angle at the PPV, and right now, he would take his clothes. Joe jumped Angle and ripped off the Armani suit. Angle finally rolled out of the ring without his suit jacket and dress shirt. Joe played to the crowd to wrap up the show.

They closed with a recap of last week's promo exchange between Team 3D and the Steiners. They followed with video clips promoting the Hard Justice PPV.

TNA right now at this point is becoming another WCW, with godawful writing. I mean does this make sense, to have all your belts centered on two guys, mean which basically means, you're killing your tag team and X Division. Because, those divisons don't mean shit anymore.

you don't have to tell me twice (i read pro wrestling torch as much as i can),
but yeah, it sad that both companies basically put all their best talent on the backburner while writing shitty and uninteresting stories.

btw, last night, Tenay and West were looking at their scripts while emoting on-camera again...absolutley hilarious and embarassing at the same time.

WWE Smackdown Results: 8-3-07

Handing notice
By Alissa Fuhrman
August 3, 2007

PHOENIX – SmackDown kicked off on a happy note Friday night, when General Manager Theodore Long and his sexy fiancée, Kristal, announced in the ring that on September 21, they will declare their vows on the show that’s changed Friday nights, and all our fans are invited to attend. But then “Teddylicious” and Kristal were interrupted by The Great Khali and his translator, Ranjin Singh, who stormed out to complain how his Punjabi “Championship Celebration” had been ruined the week before by Batista. An irate Long put his managerial foot down, ordering the giant World Heavyweight Champion to put his title on the line against The Animal at SummerSlam. So the angered 7-foot-3 monster later took his frustrations out by disrupting Batista & Ric Flair’s non-title match against WWE Tag Team Champions Deuce & Domino. And the “Nature Boy” would feel the frightening fury of the colossal champion and his newest hand-weapon, a devastating claw to the skull.

Determined to prove he’s better than the brash and cocky Montel Vontavious Porter, Matt Hardy declared his first challenge against the United States Champion: An arm wrestling competition. Despite MVP’s stalling tactics, a focused Matt eventually forced the Franchise Playa’s arm down on the table for the win. The aggravated hotshot claimed that he’s still better than Matt because he wasn’t ready, and he can still beat him where it counts: Wrestling. Yet when it looked like he might lose the intense non-title match that immediately took place, the United States Champion bailed with the gold, resulting in a count-out win for Hardy.

Frustration certainly was the recurring theme of the evening, and Jamie Noble’s night proved no different. After Funaki and Shannon Moore’s arena hallway taunts of how Noble lost to the only Superstar shorter than him, the cruiserweight physically vented his outrage on Moore inside the squared circle, utilizing a ferocious gutbuster to score the pinfall. Shortly after the victory, Noble’s worst nightmare popped out from beneath the ring. Hornswoggle, the miniature Cruiserweight Champion of the World, taunted Noble with the gold and laughed in his face…before slamming it with a huge cream pie.

Former Cruiserweight Champion Chavo Guerrero had also been in a taunting mood, expressing to Vickie Guerrero how much he was looking forward to Rey Mysterio’s return at SummerSlam – as a one-legged wrestler. SmackDown’s Assistant G.M. wasn’t in a laughing mood, however, so she put her nephew-in-law in equally poor humor -- by naming Chavo as Rey’s opponent at The Biggest Party of the Summer.

Meanwhile, Mark Henry “explained” to unfortunate opponent Nate Nickerson why he thinks he rules the SmackDown jungle. Vehemently taking out the local wrestler with an excruciating bear hug, Henry then showed our fans why no one has answered his open challenge to step into the ring with him, presenting footage of his vicious assault on Undertaker last May, which cost The Phenom his World Heavyweight Title and placed him on the shelf indefinitely.

In other SmackDown action, Kane – a monster who’s eager to accept anyone’s challenge – squared off against Chris Masters. While The Masterpiece nearly pulled off the upset by clamping Kane in his powerful Master Lock, the Big Red Machine escaped the hold and sealed Masters’ fate with an emphatic chokeslam.

Meanwhile, Jimmy Wang Yang, accompanied down the ramp by Torrie Wilson, went one-on-one with Kenny Dykstra, who was joined by Victoria at ringside. After hitting his top-rope moonsault for the victory, SmackDown’s resident redneck and the beautiful Diva “yee-haw’ed” all the way to the locker room area, leaving an audibly heated Dykstra and Victoria in the ring.

Matches
Kane def. Chris Masters
Mark Henry def. Nate Nickerson
Matt Hardy def. United States Champion MVP (Arm Wrestling Contest)
Matt Hardy def. MVP (non-title match)
Jamie Noble def. Shannon Moore
Jimmy Wang Yang def. Kenny Dykstra
Batista & Ric Flair vs. WWE Tag Team Champions Deuce & Domino (No Contest)

How could you tell they were reading their scripts? I missed out on that! I agree that they are not taking the tag teams nor the X division seriously right now. I mean, why the hell does Samoa Joe have both titles? The fuck is up with that? Who's doing the writing? Vince Russo? They can do better than this! Man, the wrestling is good but the acting is poopy...

WWE RAW Results: 8-6-07

Checkmate: Booker beats Lawler in battle of kings
By Corey Clayton
August 6, 2007

BUFFALO, N.Y. – At first, it didn’t look like a kingly battle between monarchs. It looked more like a Pier 6 brawl on Raw between WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler and King Booker, both fighting for the right to be crowned by the loser next week in the mecca of sports-entertainment, Madison Square Garden.

The Memphis legend’s famous powerful punches gave the six-time World Champion all he could handle. Unfortunately, Queen Sharmell proved to be a royal pain in Lawler’s neck, distracting The King long enough to allow Booker to deliver his patented Scissors Kick and score the crowning pinfall.

By stipulation, Lawler will have to swallow his pride and begrudgingly place a crown upon King Booker’s head in a Royal Coronation ceremony next Monday on Raw. Prior to the match, Booker again berated SummerSlam’s returning “King of Kings,” Triple H, as a pretender to the throne.

Also returning was WWE’s Chairman of the Board, Mr. McMahon, who made the night a memorable one. To Acting General Manager Jonathan Coachman’s dismay, Mr. McMahon ordered a company-wide Battle Royal to determine a new Raw commissioner, which was won by former WWE Commissioner William Regal.

Regal faked an injury to slip outside the ring early in the Battle Royal, then snuck in as Sandman thought he won the match and clobbered the ECW Original to earn the win. Mr. McMahon cold-comforted Coachman after the match by naming him Regal’s new Executive Assistant.

Throughout the night, Mr. McMahon launched tirades against the United States Congress, the media, his family members and WWE Superstars who showed no sympathy for the Chairman, who admitted to faking his own death months ago to see who really appreciated him. He swore to become a better man, and to reunite his family that had been splintered by the limo explosion.

McMahon’s psyche further splintered as he was informed that he was the subject of an Internal Revenue Service audit. Capping off the Chairman’s night of bad karma was news of a paternity suit against him, claiming that he sired an illegitimate child – another potential heir to the McMahon empire.

In other Raw action, Carlito invited WWE Champion John Cena into “Carlito’s Cabana” for an interview, but The Champ took over, making the show his own. After conducting an interview with himself and delivering a Letterman-esque Top 3 list, he pummeled the Caribbean Superstar who defeated him the week before and spit apple chunks in his face. Cena’s SummerSlam opponent, Randy Orton, chose the moment to try a sneak attack on The Champ, but Cena fended him off, then lifted Carlito up for the FU.

New Raw GM William Regal intervened and ordered Carlito and Orton to decide between themselves who would face Cena in Raw’s main event. But, since Regal didn’t specify it had to be them specifically, the cunning pair chose the Intercontinental Champion, Umaga, to face Cena in a non-title match, to the delight of the new GM.

During the match between the two champions, Orton and Carlito tried to attack Cena, but made the mistake of provoking the Samoan Bulldozer in the process, who threw the pair from the ring. GM Regal then announced that Carlito and Orton would face Cena and Umaga in an epic tag-team match on Raw next Monday at Madison Square Garden.

Regal’s other action for the evening was to re-create the popular American game show, The Dating Game, and live out his childhood dream to be a game show host. WWE Diva Maria had the opportunity to choose between “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan, Ron Simmons, and Santino Marella.

Despite Marella’s pleadings and coercion, Maria chose Simmons to the delight of the HSBC Arena crowd. Marella demanded that Maria come with him, but ran away scared when Umaga made his way to the ring for the next match.

Pop star wannabe Jillian Hall defeated Mickie James with an impressive show of power. But prior to her match, Jillian Hall mocked Raw ring announcer Lilian Garcia, who has a new album coming out this fall.

Despite the crowd’s pleas to hear Lilian preview a track from her CD, Jillian went on to give her ear-splitting rendition of a Britney Spears song, as Lilian winced in the corner of the ring. After Hall’s win, the pop star stared down the Raw ring announcer, who stared back uneasily from ringside.

Mr. Kennedy came to the ring to boast about his defeat of the Dominator, Bobby Lashley, who is undergoing surgery Tuesday on his injured shoulder. He claimed that Lashley could still hear “KENNEDYYYYYYY” ringing in his ears after the loss, and reiterated his claim that he should be the No. 1 contender for the WWE Championship.

Continuing his path of rage Monday night, Raw’s deranged giant, Snitsky, defeated Rory McAllister of The Highlanders. In just under a minute, Snitsky pumphandle-slammed Rory to the mat and scored the pinfall.

Matches
William Regal wins company-wide Battle Royal to become Raw Commissioner
Jillian Hall def. Mickie James
Snitsky def. Highlander Rory McAllister
King Booker def. Jerry "The King" Lawler
WWE Champion John Cena def. Intercontinental Champion Umaga in a non-title match (disqualification)

ECW on Sci-Fi Results: 8-7-07

CM Punk breaks on through
By Andrew Rote
August 7, 2007

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Fame is CM Punk’s… for now. One week after defeating both Tommy Dreamer and Elijah Burke in a Triple Threat Match for the opportunity, CM Punk not only lasted 15 minutes in John Morrison’s 15 Minutes of Fame challenge, but also managed to pin the ECW Champion. Morrison has withstood the Straightedge Superstar in two championship bouts already; is the third time a charm or a curse?

Three wasn’t lucky for Stevie Richards, who fell victim to ECW’s top vampire enthusiast. As the ECW Original talked to Joey Styles and Tazz about his consecutive wins, he and his winning ways were cut short when Kevin Thorn attacked him in the locker room area. Thorn fled like a bat out of hell, leaving Richards in a sea of people trying to help him recover.

Richards wasn’t the only Superstar to experience a scary attack. Boogeyman kicked off ECW on Sci Fi with a quick victory. His celebration was even quicker, as Big Daddy V surprised the worm aficionado from behind, flattening the monster. Big Daddy V’s teacher, Matt Striker, looked on proudly as his pupil got revenge for being spooked by Boogeyman in the last few weeks.

The Miz extended his win streak to three when he pinned ECW Original Balls Mahoney. Despite his win in the ring, he might be feeling some loss in Kelly Kelly, who shared a moment with the Chair Swinging Freak. Has his luck run its course with Extreme Exposé?

In other ECW on Sci Fi action, Elijah Burke taught a lesson to ECW Original Tommy Dreamer, earning some redemption from being pinned in last week’s Triple Threat Match.

Matches
Boogeyman def. Local
Elijah Burke def. Tommy Dreamer
The Miz def. Balls Mahoney
CM Punk def. John Morrison (15 Minutes of Fame)

they say that Vince Russo doing the bad stuff in TNA is a misconception...if you're to blame anyone in TNA, it'd people like Jeff Jarrett and the like.

go and read some of those Pro Wrestling Torch articles i've posted on here, that should give you a piece of the bigger picture.

OMG TNA signed PacMan Jones? UGH. I dont know how sound of a decision that is. I would hate to see that trend of signing sports stars, actors, and musicians starting again. I smell WCW.

*hopes to god to not see another title run like David Arquette's*

They signed the contract on Tuesday. He will be at Sunday's PPV though what his involvement in any matches, especially the Samoa Joe / Kurt Angle match is not known at this time.
