i can't fucking stand the great khali. so he's tall as fuck, big deal. and batista just annoys the hell outta me, roided up monkey. kane on the other hand...has been my favorite for years. he's better get that spot.

I know, I want Kane to have the Heavyweight Championship! He's been the WWF/E champ so why not the WHW? Then if that happens, Batista is going to come after Kane for the belt. Why is it that the writers can focus only on the WWE Championship and World Heavyweight Championship but not build up any REAL drama between the IC title, U.S. title, Womens, Cruiserweight, and both Tag titles? The IC title is very important and I miss when the U.S. title was the European...

Here's some good news:

The match between Kane and Batista ended with interference from Khali!
The title match at the GAB with be a threeway!
Also, Edge is rumoured to be out for 4 months!

At least Kane's still involved in the title match at GAB. Better than nothing I guess...I suppose...I hope... :oh_no:

Edge tore his left pectoral muscle on last week's Smackdown during his segment with Kane. Doctors have said Edge will need surgery, which will put him out at least four months for recovery. Freak-type accident in the same vein like Triple H's a few months ago. Plant yourself the wrong way and stuff like that happens. I haven't looked at the Smackdown replay to see exactly when it occurred.

Source: PWHeadlines.com

Dave Meltzer is reporting that former ECW World Tag Team champion John Kronus was found dead earlier today at his girlfriend's apartment in New Hampshire. Kronus held the ECW Tag Team titles with Perry Saturn as the Eliminators, and also won the tag team belts with New Jack.

TNA Impact! Results: 7-19-07

1 -- TRIPLE X (ELIX SKIPPER & CHRISTOPHER DANIELS & SENSHI) vs. SEROTONIN (RAVEN & HAVOK & MARTYR)

The action broke down early, giving Don West ample time to hype the PPV replay to see the gimmick Ultimate X match. Tenay said it was a break-out performance by Kaz in the match. Raven used his snot rag to choke Daniels in the corner, then Daniels broke free before walking into a scoop slam. Serotonin continued to work on Daniels while Tenay plugged the TNA Mobile Hotline for a former world champion negotiating with TNA. Who, Ricky Banderas? Senshi took a hot tag at 3:00, then cleaned house. The action broke down, with Raven falling all over the ring. Daniels then dropped Havok with a Rock Bottom before they went to three separate corners of the ring for a Skipper guillotine leg drop, Daniels BME, and Senshi Double Foot Stomp combo for the win. Sweet.

After the match, Kaz hit the ring and caned Martyr and Havok. He then pounded on Raven with right hand blows before Havok and Martyr overtook Kaz. Raven then chased Kaz out of the ring.

WINNERS: Triple X in 4:00. Nice finishing sequence that was memorable for anyone who's never seen that combo. Kaz vs. Raven coming to a PPV near you. (*)

Backstage, again, Borash knocked on Angle's tanning bed and Angle was turned over on his stomach. Angle accused Borash of looking at his ass. Borash told Angle that if he doesn't see Cornette, it would be $10,000 out of his check. "What? That's like a suit to me," Angle said. Angle then got out of the tanning bed and his possessions - suit, underwear, and title belts - were gone. We found out Borash goes commando. Angle said he's going to find out where his stuff is.

[Q2]

[Commercial Break]

Backstage, Leticia interviewed Christian's group about his match against Harris tonight. Christian said he's going to pin Harris again, just like at the PPV. Leticia brought up Dustin Rhodes's involvement at the PPV. Christian said he doesn't ask for help, but he always has back-up. James Storm then rambled out a promo in between sips of beer. Christian didn't understand Southern Ramble, so he asked Styles for a translation. They left Tomko, who made a snide comment to Leticia before they cut to ringside.

Tenay and West started talking, but Team 3D interrupted on a house mic. Brother Ray said they know the Steiner Brothers aren't here tonight, but they know they're watching and listening. Ray said the Steiners ruined their night at the PPV by costing them a potential World or X Division Title, not to mention the tag titles. Ray told Scott to show up next week if he has the nuts. Ray made light of Steiner's injury, so Tenay snapped on him with the cold hard facts. Devon then wrapped his arm around Tenay's neck and Ray said Tenay would have a little injury himself if he doesn't keep his mouth shut. West tried to defend Tenay, but Ray grabbed him by the neck. Ray then tried to fight off security with a timekeeper's mallet. Yeah, that'll work. They quickly cut backstage.

Backstage, Angle walked down the hallway with Borash in just a Speedo. He approached an office worker if she knew where his stuff is. She wasn't sure how to respond. "What? You've never seen a guy in his underwear?" Angle asked. She scurried along down the hallway, then Angle slipped into a side room with Borash.

[Commercial Break]

Backstage, Angle stood on a bench and addressed the locker room. He talked about having his stuff stolen by someone in the locker room. He said he looks around and sees lower carders, mid-carders, and main event wannabees. Angle said he sees potential truck drivers, 7/11 workers, but he doesn't see his titles, suit, or underwear. The wrestlers tried to hold in their laughter, then Angle snapped on Shark Boy. He dropped him on the floor with European uppercuts while the other wrestlers stood back.

Christy Hemme led out Lance Hoyt for a match. West asked Tenay if he was all right. Tenay then talked about Scott Steiner nearly losing his life in Puerto Rico had he not made it to the hospital in time. Kip James then came out with B.G. and the voodoo chick, Roxxi. B.G. did commentary on the match.

2 -- LANCE HOYT (w/Christy Hemme) vs. KIP JAMES (w/B.G. James and Roxxi LeVeaux)

Hoyt ran over Kip while B.G. gave us a history lesson on Roxxi being a sort of Sherri Martel-to-Harlem Heat type female managerial figure. B.G. said they tried to give Hoyt "the rub," but he turned his back on them. Kip made a comeback at 2:00 with a clothesline into an elbow drop for a nearfall. He missed with a corner clothesline, but caught Hoyt with the Fameasser in center ring. He made the cover for the win.

After the match, Christy was more than upset ringside while Kip celebrated. Christy slipped into the ring and tried to give Kip a low blow from behind, but Kip blocked and grabbed her arms. He brought in Roxxi, who did her shimmy and shake into the ring. Roxxi gave Christy the dominator, then slid through Kip's legs to pose for the hard camera.

WINNER: Kip James in 3:00. So much for Hoyt's "push". Quick, clean, and decisive TV victory for Kip. Time for Christy to move on and find another beau based on how this storyline has unfolded. (1/2*)

Backstage, Leticia interviewed Samoa Joe about his big challenge. He said that one person affected would have to wait until later to hear his challenge.

[Q3]

[Commercial Break]

Backstage, the camera was focused on Angle's upper body as he stood on a table with Borash in the production/writing room. So, we know the show is taped now. Angle addressed the writers and producers about someone stealing his stuff. He turned his back and the camera focused on his ass while he counted to ten for someone to turn in his stuff. A dude in khaki shorts tried to leave, but Angle snapped on him and threw him into a wall. Great Khali...er...Angle threw the dude back into the chair before telling everyone to have a nice day.

Christian Cage led out his group to the ring for a tag match. Rhino then came out, as if nothing happened at the PPV. Gee, I wonder why people think this stuff is fake and don't invest their emotions in an angle when a guy gets his brain busted in at the PPV, then he's running to the ring fresh as a daisy on the next TV show.

3 -- CHRISTIAN CAGE (w/Tomko) & JAMES STORM (w/Ms. Jackie Moore) vs. RHINO & CHRIS HARRIS

Rhino ran over Christian in the opening minute before throwing him high into the air. Christian came back with a hair throw, sending Rhino into the mat. Storm then took a tag and bailed from the ring. Christian took advantage of Rhino's over-aggressiveness giving chase and knocked him to the floor with a clothesline. Cut to break.

[Commercial Break]

Back from break, Christian and Storm took turns working on Rhino. Tenay gave an announcement that he's received word from Jim Cornette that the Steiners will be on Impact next week to confront Team 3D. They plugged the TNA Mobile while the heels continued to work on Rhino in the ring. Suddenly, Rhino caught Christian with a top rope clothesline, then Chris Harris took a hot tag. He had a stare down with Storm, his former tag partner, before they exchanged blows. The action broke down, then Rhino clotheslined Christian to the floor. Rhino followed with a belly-to-belly suplex on Storm, then Christian pulled him to the floor. Harris blocked a superkick and hit the catatonic on Storm, and had a pin, but Tomko pulled the ref to the outside. From behind, Dustin Rhodes slipped into the ring and hit Harris in the back with a steel chair. Storm then made a cover for the win.

[Q4]

After the match, Rhino worked on Storm, but Jackie grabbed him from behind. Rhino simply lifted her in the air for a press slam, but Tomko kicked him in the face with a big boot. Christian and Storm then brought beer into the ring and shared a few rounds. Before they could pour beer down Rhino's throat, Abyss's music hit and he walked to the ring with purpose, as Tenay put it. The heels quickly bailed from the ring and Christian smiled that Abyss couldn't get him. But, from behind, Sting placed a baseball bat underneath Christian's crotch and pulled him. He then dragged Christian into the ring for Abyss to go to town. Christian bailed before Abyss could inflict the big damage, then he escaped through the crowd to the back.

WINNERS: Storm & Christian in 6:00. As usual, post-match took precedence. Two things here. One - TNA is going to milk the hint of man-on-woman violence for all its worth without having a woman actually get her comeuppance. Two - in the wrestling business, never reveal a major weakness that can be exploited or turned into a rib, as now the heels just tease Rhino with beer every chance they get. (3/4*)

Backstage, Cornette approached Angle and said he's crazy for wanting to go to the ring sporting just a Speedo. Cornette pulled out Joseph's Technicolor dreamcoat and handed it to Angle to cover up. He said he expects Angle to have the $10,000 on his desk by Monday. Wait, Cornette was supposed to take the money out of Angle's check, not receive a lump-sum cash payment that can't be traced in the books.

[Commercial Break]

Backstage, Leticia followed Christian and Styles as they tried to leave the building. Styles said he didn't have a vehicle to escape. Robert Roode and Ms. Brooks approached and said they would take care of Abyss. Styles said he could take care of Abyss and Sting. They ran to a Dodge truck and Styles hopped behind the wheel. They started the ignition, only to find Abyss in the backseat. Abyss then comically stormed out of the truck and shouted to the camera. This turned into unintentional comedy hour very quickly with a series of Scooby Doo-like coincidences, mixed with amateur hour acting.

Kurt Angle came to the ring in his robe and shower shoes before addressing the crowd. He said he has a sense of humor and does think pranks are pretty funny. The fans chanted, "You suck...clap clap...you suck" before going for the "Joe, Joe, Joe" chant. Angle said he can't seem to come up with his stuff, so if anyone were to steal his titles, Armani suit, and underwear, there has to be someone sick enough to do it. He blamed the fans for taking his stuff to sell on eBay. Angle said he would take on all the fans.

Suddenly, Samoa Joe's music hit and he walked out with a ton of gold belts. How do you explain that much gold to airport security? Joe then entered the ring and said he's not a thief. He said he came to the ring to put the past nine months behind them. Angle clapped it up, then Joe reminisced on their wars in the ring. Joe said he wants to start the next chapter in Joe vs. Angle by giving Angle his belts back. He then said he wants to find out who the best in the world is since both of them hold a ton of gold. Joe handed Angle his suit back, but said he didn't steal his underwear because he knows Angle showed up tonight wearing the Speedo. Joe said they need to let the last nine months go, and start over with Joe vs. Angle at Hard Justice with all the gold on the line. Angle stared down at the belts Joe had placed in center ring and Joe asked if he's in or if he's in. Joe extended his hand, Angle looked over the gold, then Joe backed away when Angle didn't give an answer. Angle then went in and shook hands before they hugged.

Joe suddenly gave Angle a headbutt and stomped him into the mat. Joe gave Angle an elbow smash to the chest before bailing out of the ring. He went under the ring and yanked out a table before sliding it into the ring. Joe stripped Angle of Joseph's coat before setting up the table in the corner. He went for a running slam into the table, but Angle slipped out and slammed Joe into the table. Angle then put Joe in the anklelock in center ring. They ended the show with Angle having Joe locked in his grasp. Angle gets the one-up on Joe once again.

WWE Smackdown Results: 7-20-07

Giant change to Friday nights
By Lennie DiFino
July 20, 2007

LAREDO, Texas – After learning he would be out of action for longer than anticipated due to a torn pectoral muscle, Edge arrived in Laredo to unwillingly surrender the World Heavyweight Championship to SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long. The GM then announced that a 20-Man Battle Royal would crown a new champion, and The Great Khali outlasted and ousted 19 other men to capture the gold. However, after interfering in a No. 1 Contender’s Match between Batista and Kane, the colossus was told he would face both The Animal and the Big Red Machine in a Triple Threat Match for the title this Sunday at The Great American Bash.

In other action on Friday night, after competing in the 20-Man Battle Royal, Matt Hardy defeated Kenny Dykstra to continue his hot streak heading into his match with United States Champion MVP at The Great American Bash. Will Hardy’s string of successes in 2007 translate into his first major singles title in WWE? Also, Torrie defeated Victoria in a Divas Match.

Matches
Victoria def. Torrie
The Great Khali wins 20-Man Battle Royal to become World Heavyweight Champion
Matt Hardy def. Kenny Dykstra
Batista vs. Kane (No Contest)

I agree. This Smackdown was pretty good. Hell, this is the first time in YEARS I sat up and watch a whole two hours. The divas match was great but the Matt Hardy/ Kenny match was kinda weak. I know they can perform much better than that!

Very true but in their defense, both were involved in the 20 man Battle Royale so neither one was 100% in their match.

I knew Khali would win but I enjoyed the royale, especially when everyone teamed up against Mark 'Fat Fuck' Henry and threw him out of the ring early :tickled:

I don't mind suspending reality but when logic is introduced they should try to maintain some consistency for at least fifteen more minutes by employing the same tactic on Khali...
SMACKDOWN was just terrible imo.

Of course the major problem...using the word 'logic' in reference to any WWE show :loco:

Great American Bash PPV tomorrow beginning at 8 pm EDT. Those who don't want to waste the $$$ and don't have the means to 'borrow' PPV programming can catch the updates here as always ;)

Khali should have been tossed out of the ring immediately just as Henry was and Batista should have won the title only to lose it or defend it vs Khali at the Paperview.
Forgot to mention that the last two men standing in that Battle Royale should have been KANE vs The Animal with The Animal winning.

WWE Great American Bash PPV Results: 7-22-07

Real-time results courtesy of PWTorch.com: Caldwell's Coverage

1 -- MVP vs. MATT HARDY -- U.S. Title match

They exchanged shoves in the early going, then Hardy landed an arm drag and MVP bailed to the floor. Hardy wasted no time going for the first highspot of the night with a plancha on the outside. He then made a cover back in the ring for a nearfall. Cole listed off the names of former U.S. champions while MVP and Hardy had a test of strength in center ring. Not surprisingly, no mention of Benoit. Hardy went up top at 6:00, but MVP yanked him down hard to the mat. Ouch. After running over Hardy with a knee to the head, he made a series of covers for nearfalls. Keep that in mind. Hardy bit his way out of a resthold, then he fired up with right hands, but MVP caught him in the air and flung him down to the mat. MVP set up for the running knee strike again, but Hardy suddenly popped up and landed a short-arm clothesline. At 9:00, they went up top and MVP landed a superplex, but he took too long on the pin attempt and Cole pre-sold the kick out by saying the match was over. JBL went philosophical, then MVP took Hardy up top again, but Hardy countered in mid-air with a fall down splash for a nearfall. Didn't look pretty, but it worked in the context of a real fight where the moves theoretically aren't supposed to look nice all the time. Hardy then knocked the bandage off MVP's nose before hitting a bulldog from the middle rope for a close nearfall. Hardy followed with an elbow smash at 10:00 for another nearfall. MVP blocked the Twist of Fate, but Hardy came back with the Side Effect for a close nearfall. The pace quickened as each man exchanged nearfalls at 13:00 before MVP ran over Hardy with a boot to the face. Hardy slumped down to the mat, then MVP executed an awkward Playmaker for the pin and the win.

WINNER: MVP in 14:00 to retain the U.S. Title. Nearfalls: Hardy 9, MVP 7. Very good opening match. It was sloppy at times, but in a way that played into the believability of the in-ring action since it's theoretically a real fight. Surprisingly, they opened the show with a heel retaining a belt. WWE Great American Bash PPV Results: 7-22-07

2 -- CRUISERWEIGHT OPEN -- CW Title match

Jimmy Wang Yang came out first, then Shannon Moore came out to his heel Reject music. Funaki, who is apparently from the entire country of Japan, came out next. Jamie Noble came out fourth. Cruiserweight champion Chavo Guerrero came out as the final participant, rocking the dark heel beard. Cole foreshadowed that Chavo won the CW Title as a surprise entrant at the No Way Out PPV in February. Suddenly, the bell sounded and Hornswoggle ran through the ring and slipped under the apron. Weird. Random action commenced as Cole and JBL joked about the smaller Noble having the audacity to stand up to the larger men in the battle royale on Smackdown. Apparently, this is first-pin-wins rather than the usual elimination style match. Chavo went for the Three Amigos suplexes on Yang, but Yang slipped out of the third suplex and caught Chavo with a moonsault for a close nearfall at 5:00. Noble, Chavo, and Yang then set up a Tower of Doom spot. Suddenly, Hornswoggle entered the match and covered Noble after the tadpole splash. The ref hesitated, apparently consulted with the bookie in the front row, then counted Hornswoggle's pin for the win.

Generic Irish music hit, then Hornswoggle received the CW Title and celebrated on the Smackdown announce table. Someone must have been watching the British Open when booking this match. JBL said Hornswoggle ran through the ring when the bell sounded, so maybe that makes him legal. After the match, the "regular-sized" Cruiserweights tried to chase Hornswoggle under the ring, but he escaped to the other side.

WINNER: Hornswoggle in 6:00 to capture the CW Title. Nearfalls: Yang 2, Moore 3, Noble 1, Chavo 1, Funaki 1. Blame Caldwell. I think I half-jokingly suggested this in the C&R Audio Update previewing the Bash. This isn't new territory for Hornswoggle, who won a version of the X Division Title on the NWA circuit as Shortstack before coming to WWE. (*1/2)

3 -- THE SANDMAN vs. CARLITO -- Singapore Cane on a pole match

Before the bell sounded, Carlito threw his apple at Sandman. Sandman chased Carlito around the ring, then they returned to the ring and the bell sounded. They stared at the pole hanging above the corner turnbuckle, then commenced the wrestling exchange. Carlito met Sandman with a standing dropkick, then he tried to climb the pole, but Sandman yanked him down after grabbing a handful of trunks. Carlito then missed with a turnaround splash off the ropes, and Sandman climbed the pole to retrieve the Kendo stick. He went for a home run, but Carlito ducked and nailed Sandman with the back cracker for the win.

WINNER: Carlito in 6:00. Nearfalls: None. Basic singles match. Can't really be disappointed that they didn't use the Kendo Stick since the match wasn't even advertised on TV. (*)

4 -- CANDICE MICHELLE vs. MELINA -- Women's Title match

Candice with a fireman's carry take over into a bridge pin for a nearfall. Melina then caught her in the corner and landed a double foot stomp to the chest to send Candice crashing to the mat. Melina then stretched Candice's arms to soften her up. Candice made her comeback with clotheslines and a dropkick before catching Melina with a discus clothesline for a nearfall. Candice then caught Melina off the top rope with a cross body splash for a nearfall, but Melina came back with a hanging neckbreaker for a nearfall and screams of frustration. Candice came back with an attempted heel kick, but Melina ducked. Melina failed on a high-impact move, then Candice came up with a standing bulldog, the Candy Wrapper, for the win.

WINNER: Candice in 6:00 to retain the Women's Title. Nearfalls: Melina 2, Candice 2. Decent action. A struggle at times, as Candice is getting there, but she's not fluid for the entire length of a match. (*1/4)

5 -- UMAGA vs. JEFF HARDY -- Intercontinental Title match

They fought to the outside in the opening minute, then returned to the ring and Umaga smashed Hardy to the mat with a Samoan Drop. Umaga then settled into an offensive attack on Hardy's neck and upper back. Ross and Lawler talked about Hardy pulling big upsets in his career, including a defeat of Triple H for the IC Title. That was a WCW-like series of title switches in April 2001 when the belt went from Jericho to Hunter to Hardy to Hunter in a two-week period. Hardy tried to make a comeback, but Umaga sat down on Hardy's chest off the ropes. He then landed a rear splash to the chest. The referee reprimanded Umaga for using the ropes, but he went for a second rear splash and Hardy caught him with two feet to the crotch. Hardy went for a top rope splash, but Umaga caught him in mid-air and landed a twisting Black Hole Slam for a close nearfall. Umaga went up top at 8:00 for a diving headbutt, but Hardy moved out of the way and Umaga ate the mat. Hardy made a comeback, then he knocked Umaga to the floor and hit a plancha. Back in the ring, Hardy went for a sunset flip, but Umaga went for a rear splash, only to catch the mat again. Hardy suddenly hit a double-foot kick to the chest for his first nearfall of the match. Umaga came back with a charging rear splash attempt in the corner, but Hardy moved and caught Umaga with the Twist of Fate for another close nearfall.

At 11:00, Umaga poled himself with a corner splash attempt, then Hardy went up top and hit the Swanton Bomb. Fans popped huge. He took too long to make the cover, so Umaga kicked out just before three. The fans exploded in frustration, then came down as Hardy went for the Twist of Fate, only to have Umaga shove him off and hit a big standing side kick. He quickly followed with the big rear splash in the corner, then the Samoan Spike to the throat that nearly took Hardy's head off. He made the cover for the win.

WINNER: Umaga in 12:00 to retain the IC Title. Nearfalls: Hardy 3, Umaga 2. What a dramatic final five minutes. Easily the most exciting stretch of wrestling on the show tonight. Umaga is under-rated as a worker, while the Hardys continue to deliver solid wrestling as singles wrestlers. (***1/4)

6 -- JOHN MORRISON vs. C.M. PUNK -- ECW Title match

Basic feeling-out-process to start the match. Punk nearly won with a slingshot suplex in the opening two minutes, then he monkey flipped Morrison out of the corner and Morrison slipped to the outside to catch his breath. On the floor, Punk followed up with a clothesline, but Morrison tripped Punk on the stairs and Punk ate the top ring step. Back in the ring, Punk went for the Go 2 Sleep, but Nitro countered into a take down for a nearfall. Punk came back with kicks and fist strikes, then they exchanged pin attempts until the ref caught Morrison trying to use the top rope for additional leverage. Punk tried to set up his finishing sequence, but Morrison slipped out of the ring and tried to leave with the title belt, but Punk threw him back into the ring. Punk then went for a springboard dropkick, but Morrison caught him with a kick straight to the knee. That didn't look right. Morrison quickly rolled up Punk and made a cover for the win. Afterward, Morrison held up the ECW Title on the stage while Punk grasped his knee in pain. Either a heck of a sell job or Punk's knee is screwed.

WINNER: Morrison in 8:00 to retain the ECW Title. Nearfalls: Nitro 3, Punk 6. Crowd came down from the IC Title match and just watched this one. Decent action. Let's hope Punk was just selling that knee, but the pin seemed to be an audible called in the ring. (**)
