Oh great, now the media is taking this too seriously...

Oh yeah, last night's RAW sucked. Except for the women's tag match. That was awesome! Melina's neck breaker = :buttrock: Mickie is still the cool though! She's a more credible champ that any of the other divas. Melina can wrestle but she has no charisma and the same goes for Joy Giovanni. She's a pretty girl but that's just about it. Heck, her wrestling skills were effy...

Glad you guys like my sig! This is how the commercial ended. They just put make up on the girl after she walked out. This was during their fifth take, btw.

Peace and love!

ECW on Sci-Fi Results: 6-19-07

The beginning of a new ECW dawn
By Bryan Robinson
June 19, 2007

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – As the cloud of mystery over Mr. McMahon's tragic presumed demise continued to hang over all of WWE and ECW, the winds of change blew in the Land of the Extreme Tuesday night. The first steps to crowning a new ECW World Champion were taken, as Chris Benoit and CM Punk won the opportunity to face each other for the vacant ECW World Title at Vengeance: Night of Champions.

Ironically, Benoit and Punk would not have gotten this title match without Mr. McMahon. In his last official act, the Chairman stripped Bobby Lashley of the ECW World Title after the proud former Army sergeant was drafted to Raw. Benoit and Punk did not get their title opportunity easily. New Breed leader Elijah Burke and his enforcer, Marcus Cor Von would have loved to have brought the ECW World Title to the New Breed. But Burke fell short to the Rabid Wolverine, and the Straightedge Superstar somehow eked out a victory over The Alpha Male.

The Rabid Wolverine is a former World Champion and perhaps a future WWE Hall of Famer. CM Punk is an up-and-coming ECW Superstar and perhaps a future World Champion. They represent the past, the present and future of ECW and all of sports-entertainment – and in many ways are mirror images of each other.

When Benoit and Punk battle for the ECW World Title this Sunday at Vengeance: Night of Champions, it will be a clash of both the past and future of ECW. Their battle will be a war between titans who share both the same passion for combat inside the squared circle and a mutual code of honor.

Benoit and Punk were not the only Superstars to give our fans a glimpse of the new landscape of ECW. Former Intercontinental and WWE Tag Team Champion Johnny Nitro, who was drafted to ECW this past Sunday during the WWE Supplemental Draft, made his debut in the Land of the Extreme against tough ECW Original Nunzio. The Full-Blooded Italian showed the A-lister what extreme means in ECW. But in the end, Nitro showed our fans – and the rest of ECW – that he is an A-lister who can kick some a**.

Meanwhile, recent draftee Boogeyman continued to send nightmares throughout the ECW locker room by quickly decimating and worming another hapless foe. Our fans cringed in horror as the worms wiggled in Boogeyman’s mouth and he celebrated another victory. It looks like he is looking to bring more victims down to The Bottomless Pit in the weeks ahead.

Boogeyman’s entrance in ECW has caused sleepless nights, but it appears new draftee The Miz’s debut is highly anticipated, especially among the ladies of Extreme Exposé. The trio was seen talking about the former reality TV star, and Brooke even seems to have a crush on The Miz. But it also appears that Kelly Kelly may have already spent some time with Miz – and Layla knows about it. Stay tuned to ECW on Sci Fi in the coming weeks and see if this potential saga develops.

Kevin Thorn is not new to ECW, but he is one of its most promising young stars. He has been on a brutal winning streak since leaving the New Breed and focusing on leaving his own carnage in ECW. Tommy Dreamer, the heart and soul of ECW, tested the fanged freak, but Thorn pounded him into defeat.

Matches
Chris Benoit def. Elijah Burke
Boogeyman def. Shawn Alexander
Kevin Thorn def. Tommy Dreamer
Johnny Nitro def. Nunzio
CM Punk def. Marcus Cor Von

Konnan and Killings quit TNA

Source: PW Headlines

The Wrestling Observer and Pro Wrestling Torch are reporting that both Konnan and Ron Killings quit TNA before tonight's Impact tapings.

Konnan has been upset for a number of months because TNA wasn't giving him much support for his health problems. He pretty much stayed with the company as long as he did because LAX was a hot act and he didn't want bail on them. There were some rumblings going into Sunday's PPV that Konnan was going to quit the company sooner or later. That may have been the reason for LAX jobbing and not being featured much on the fifth anniversary pay-per-view. Ron Killings, who is friends with Konnan, has been unhappy for quite some time with his pay and status in the company. He has been out of action with an injury for several months.

Konnan will just return to Mexico to work for the AAA promotion. Killings also has a deal lined up with AAA, so he'll resume his wrestling career there. Their friend Sean Waltman is also a regular for AAA. Both he and his girlfriend Alicia 'Ryan Shamrock' Webb recently moved down to Mexico.

Hell, he'd be on top if WWE marketed mainly talent, but alas. :(

True that. Now we'll see what happens Sunday: will Benoit get the one chamionship that has elluded him or will C.M. Punk get the big push sooner or later? Should be a good match for a change.

PW Headlines and ComicBloc: Official Wrestling Thread Post #9300

----Charges were officially filed this morning against Jerry Lawler. Lawler was charged with assault charges stemming from the incident at Sam’s Town last Friday night. Jerry Lawler allegedly punched “The Big Cheese” Sal Corrente more than once and then yelled at me, “You stupid mother fucker, don't you ever hit a fan.” Lawler had believed that Sal, who had been hit by a fan, had retaliated and hit the fan back. Eyewitnesses at the show believe that Sal did not hit the fan, but there was no doubt in anyone’s mind that Lawler did hit Sal.----This could be a landmark case in this crazy world of professional wrestling. A business that is suppose to be worked to the mark so he believes it is real, but when it is real then it is considered assault. Jerry Lawler, who is the
color commentator for the number one cable wrestling show in the country [and sometimes #1 cable show in the country], will face criminal charges in the state of Mississippi.----The court date is scheduled for August 1, 2007, but only if papers are served to Lawler before that date. Lawler is scheduled to wrestle on the July 20, 2007 Sam’s Town Memphis Wrestling show and Mississippi authorities are expected to serve Lawler the papers that night.----I will keep everyone updated as soon as I hear anything else.

Instead of doing quarter-assed (not even half-assed) Homeboy Shopping Network-like promos, huh? I certainly agree w/you on RVD not leaving if they stuck to just talent as well.

You have to look at it like this, CM Punk was tops at ROH; he was compared to Triple H over there. He can be a credible champion if the creative staff lets him do what he does best. But we all know how that'll turn up... *looks at Stephanie*

TNA Impact! Results: 6-21-07

1 -- ROBERT ROODE (w/Ms. Brooks) & JAMES STORM (w/Ms. Jackie Moore) vs. ERIC YOUNG & RHINO

West plugged the Slammiversary PPV, and said the main event King of the Mountain match "just clicked". Young jumped Roode after the opening bell, but Roode used a sneak attack from Storm to take control. Roode executed a side slam, then made a cover for a nearfall. Young made a hot tag at 2:00 to Rhino, who cleaned house before dropping Storm with a powerslam. The action broke down, then Jackie jumped on Roode's back to distract him. Storm took advantage with the superkick on Rhino for the win. After the match, Storm dumped the contents of his beer bottle into Rhino's mouth. Apparently upset with the taste of beer or maybe Storm put urine in his beer bottle, Rhino snapped and chucked the beer bottle to the top of the stage, nailing Roode, Brooks, Jackie, and Storm. Rhino then snapped on everyone and everything. He tore down the announce table before chucking chairs around ringside. They cut to break with security trying to hold him back.

WINNERS: Storm & Roode in 3:00. Very short match, with the meat of the tag match gutted and left on the cutting room floor. As usual, the post-match activity took precedence. Looks like a classic babyface storyline where a wrestler gets tired of losing, so he snaps, and tries to make a resurgent comeback. (1/2*)

[Commercial Break]

Mike Tenay welcomed us back to a trashed Impact Zone. They recapped Rhino snapping on everyone, then they cut to footage from during the break of Rhino screaming and shouting at Jim Cornette near the curtain. Rhino told the cameraman to get out of here.

[Q3]

They cut to Tenay and West standing up at the broadcast position for a serious discussion of Jeff Jarrett's personal problems. West said they've been vague on the details about Jeff Jarrett out of respect for Jarrett. Plausible explanation. They cut to the Jarrett promo from Slammiversary where he talked about the start of the company and Jill's death. Back live after the video aired, Tenay called it the most heart-wrenching moment he's experienced as a broadcaster. The fans politely applauded, and the camera focused on a few people crying.

[Commercial Break]

They plugged this weekend's TNA house show schedule.

Backstage, Leticia asked Samoa Joe about earning a spot in the Night of Champions match. Joe screamed at Leticia, took the mic, and screamed at the camera. He said he's tired of Kurt Angle pissing him off. He said the first thing he's doing is taking back the X Division title. He said Angle loses if he wins next week because they'll be partners at the July PPV. Joe said he'll make Angle feel pain and he'll make sure Angle has no more interviews.

Ringside, Tenay and West put over Jarrett as a great "champion" and they put over their friendships with Jarrett.

2 -- CHRIS HARRIS vs. RAVEN (w/Serotonin)

Harris came out to a re-mix of his entrance music. Raven, sporting a t-shirt this week, jumped him right off the bat. He took him to the outside and landed a Russian legsweep into the guardrail. Back in the ring, Harris fought back, but ran into a clothesline for a nearfall. Martyr then hopped on the apron to distract the ref, allowing Havoc to cane Harris in the back. Kaz then hit the ring and nailed Raven with a springboard clothesline. Harris picked up the scraps and hit the Catatonic for the win.

WINNER: Harris in 2:00. Another very short match, with the meat of the match gutted. (Looking ahead to the Christian promo next,) how is that Harris is a rising star in the storyline if he can't get matches against quality opponents who are actually booked on the PPV? (1/2*)

Suddenly, they went backstage where Christian, A.J. Styles, and Tomko were doing a movie set promo. Christian sent them away, then addressed Chris Harris on the Impacttron. Christian, conveniently wearing a lavaliere mic on his t-shirt, said he is a star and wrestlers want to be in the ring with him just so they can tell their grandkids they were in the ring him. Christian said Harris got his attention by costing him the World Title, and they're eventually going to put on a nice show - a masterpiece - but Harris won't like how the story ends. Christian called for a cut, then a random boom mic entered the shot and Christian ran away from some unknown person.

They cut back to Tenay and West, who didn't know what was going on. Abyss then flung Christian down the entrance ramp to the ringside area. Abyss brought a barbed wire baseball bat into the ring, then he aimed for Christian, but Christian stopped, dropped, and rolled to the corner. Abyss took too long, so Tomko and Styles jumped him from behind. Abyss fought them off, though, and dropped Tomko with a big boot to the face. Christian bailed up the entrance ramp.

[Commercial Break]

[Q4]

They cut to a James Mitchell promo. He said he sought the deep underbelly of the world to find his next prize. He said he was ready to abandon his quest until he found a man in a lightning flash. Mitchell said the man suddenly appeared. A creature devoid of compassion. A force unlike anything the world has seen. "He is coming," Mitchell said. "My son." Enter cackling laughter. They closed with an E.T. moment with Mitchell touching index fingertips with "his son". Back in the arena, Tenay said it sounds like trouble is coming to TNA.

3 -- JAY LETHAL vs. CHRIS SABIN vs. SAMOA JOE -- X Division Title match

Tenay called this one of the highest-stake matches in Impact history. Savage tried to land right hand jabs early on, but Joe lifted him high in the air for a slam. He then caught Sabin in the corner with a side kick. He tried to wash Sabin's face with his boot, but Lethal cut him off. Lethal and Sabin then hit dual dropkicks on Joe, clearing him to the outside. Sabin slammed Lethal onto the ring apron, then Joe recovered in the ring before warming up for a suicide dive elbow smash on both men on the floor. Cut.

[Commercial Break]

Back from break, Joe caught Lethal off the ropes with a hard snap powerslam. Sabin then launched off the top rope with a missile dropkick on Joe. Sabin followed with a charging boot to the face on Lethal in the corner. He landed the basement dropkick with Lethal in the Tree of Woe, then Joe grabbed Sabin and chopped him hard in the chest. Joe tried a powerbomb on Sabin, but Sabin countered into a sunset flip pin attempt for a nearfall. Joe quickly recovered with a big boot and flying sentaun splash on Sabin. Lethal accepted a hard chop, then Joe put him up top for the Muscle Buster, but Lethal fought back. Lethal eventually knocked Joe off the top rope, but Sabin threw him off the top turnbuckle. Joe then caught Sabin with an enziguiri kick before dropping him with the Muscle Buster for the win.

WINNER: Samoa Joe in 7:00 to capture the X Division Title. Good action for seven minutes of real-time wrestling, but with only four minutes airing with a mid-match commercial. If they were intent on getting the belt off Lethal here, then I like the move to have Sabin pinned, as Lethal now has a built-in feud against whoever is X Division champion after the July PPV. (*3/4)

After the match, Cornette came to ringside and said Joe has earned a spot in the Match of Champions match at the PPV. Cornette then announced Angle vs. Christian Cage vs. Rhino in a three-way title match on next week's Impact. See, the squeaky Rhino wheel gets the grease. The show closed with Joe kissing the X Title belt in center ring.

Well that sucks major ass as I liked Killings( he should have been contending for that title though ) and I liked Konnan as the mouth piece to LAX since they really did need one.

Are they trying to make me go back and start watching Vince's stuff again?

WWE Smackdown Results: 6-22-07

A taste of vengeance
By Andrew Rote
June 22, 2007

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - For Edge & MVP, SmackDown was perhaps a sneak preview and a lesson that they might have their hands full at Vengeance: Night of Champions. The World Heavyweight Champion and the United States Champion teamed up to take on their respective challengers, Batista & Ric Flair, only to find themselves on their backs when the final bell sounded.

Going into Sunday, it is clear that Batista and Flair have momentum on their sides. Can Edge hold off Batista’s challenges for a third and final time? Will the “Nature Boy” earn yet another title reign just weeks after joining the SmackDown roster?

Lead federal investigator Daniel Beck had an announcement of his own on Friday night, catching up our concerned fans with the latest developments in the case. Beck has been able to confirm that in addition to Mr. McMahon and the limo driver, the DNA of another “well-known personality” was also discovered in the limo’s remains. As Beck continues digging, the Chairman may be able to rest in peace come Monday when a special three-hour edition of Raw commemorates Mr. McMahon’s life.

While SmackDown marked a night of momentum and confidence for many Superstars heading into Vengeance: Night of Champions, Theodore Long had the biggest Friday night. In light of Mr. McMahon’s presumed death and Long’s realization that life can be filled with unexpected events, SmackDown’s General Manager asked Kristal to marry him. Taken aback, the Diva left the ring in tears, but moments later composed herself and accepted Long’s proposal in the locker room area.

Chavo Guerrero hopes the main event tag team match on SmackDown wasn’t the only sign of things to come. Along with Jamie Noble, he was able to defeat Shannon Moore and his Vengeance: Night of Champions opponent Jimmy Wang Yang. The Cruiserweight Champion was able to gain momentum and get the three-count over Moore. Though Yang watched his team lose on SmackDown, he has yet to be pinned in recent weeks and remains a threat to Guerrero’s gold on Sunday.

Matt Hardy got a match in as well, preparing for his chance to regain the World Tag Team Championship with his brother on Sunday. His win over Finlay came at a high price, however, as the Irish brawler removed the protection from Hardy’s knee and repeatedly blasted it like a punching bag.

In other action, Mark Henry rolled through Funaki, further establishing that he is truly King of the Jungle. Also, one of SmackDown’s newest Superstars, Chris Masters, earned a win with his devastating Masterlock.

Matches
Cruiserweight Champion Chavo Guerrero & Jamie Noble def. Jimmy Wang Yang & Shannon Moore
Mark Henry def. Funaki
Matt Hardy def. Finlay
Chris Masters def. Local

Why is Funaki still there? He's being used only for jobbing and such. He should go back to Japan and reform Kaintai with Taka once again! *sigh* I miss them!

He lives in San Antonio? Shit, now I have even more reason to drive down there! Oh yeah! BTW, one of my friends George Manley (writer for ADV films) used to announce matches at one of the indy leagues and I want to check that stuff out!

-- Smackdown from last night averaged a 2.6 rating in the Fast Nationals for the third consecutive week. The first hour averaged a 2.3 rating, to finish fourth in the hour. The second hour averaged a strong 2.9 rating to finish second out of the five networks for the hour. In the adult 18-49 demographics, Smackdown finished tied for first on the night with a 1.3 rating. Same ratings, but on a very weak night for network TV, Smackdown's consistency rose to the top.

WWE Vengeance PPV Results: 6-24-07

Real-time results courtesy of PWTorch.com

Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler introduced the event. They introduced Mike Rotunda and Barry Windham sitting at ringside, then showed a brief clip of them in 1985 when they were WWF Tag Team Champions. From there, not a lot of pomp and circumstance as they went right to ring intros from there for the opening tag team match. The entrance set, though, was pretty posh, with more of an Academy Awards red carpet feel with a touch of Athens.

1 -- LANCE CADE & TREVOR MURDOCH vs. MATT & JEFF HARDY -- World Tag Team Title match

Lawler and Ross discussed the pros and cons of Cade & Murdoch being "opportunists" when they beat the Hardys win the tag titles. No explanation is given for how the Hardys can team together if they're not on the same brands. JBL even noted during the draft that if one of the Hardys was moved to another brand, it might "reunite" the team. They didn't get drafted to the same brand, but they're teaming anyway. Cade offered a friendly handshake to Matt at 3:00, but Matt kicked Cade instead. Lawler said, "The Hardys are not being very sportsmanlike in this match." Ross said, "Maybe they're being opportunistic." At 10:00 Matt hot-tagged Jeff. He worked over Cade, who Ross called was the illegal man, yet the ref counted near falls by Jeff on Cade anyway. When Jeff went to the top rope, Murdoch knocked him off and he clotheslined the top rope as he fell. Cade then gave Jeff his finisher for the win. Murdoch bragged afterward they won fair and square.

WINNERS: Cade & Murdoch in 11:00 to retain the World Tag Team Titles.

STAR RATING (**1/4): Basic average tag match. Passable action, but pretty forgettable. Okay as an opener to get everyone warmed up.

-Booker and Sharmell talked backstage about Booker potentially regaining the World Hvt. Title.

-After a generic Summerslam commercial, they went to Michael Cole and JBL at ringside for the first time. Cole and JBL reminisced about Eddie Guerrero. JBL said he'll always be inseparable from his career because of their feud. He called him the greatest and most popular Latino champion of all time. A clip aired from Feb. 15, 2004 of Guerrero beating Brock Lesnar. The clips remind you of how good Lesnar was. Eddie, too, of course, but Lesnar doesn't always get the proper recognition because of how short a time he was around and how he left.

-They showed Dean Malenko backstage, a former Cruisrweight Champion. A clip aired of him approaching the ring on Nitro with the late Brian Hildebrand as ref in the background. They didn't explain why Malenko was watching from backstage on a monitor or that he's an agent-producer for WWE full-time.

2 -- CHAVO GUERRERO vs. JIMMY WANG YANG - Cruiserweight Title match

Cole noted that the first Cruisrweight Champion was Brian Pillman in 1991. JBL sort of contradicted him by adding that Chavo Guerrero Sr. was Cruiserweight Champion, too. There was no lineage between Pillman's title and Chavo Sr.'s Junior Hvt. Title. (Note: The term "Cruiserweight" was adopted by WCW shortly after I suggested it in a column in the PWTorch Newsletter as a better, more descript, less damaged name than the previously used Junior Heavyweight or Light Heavyweight terms. Mark Madden then suggested it to someone in WCW shortly thereafter, and it was adopted officially when the title was brought back, replacing the previous Light-Heavyweight Title name.) Unfortunately, WWE has decided to showcase two wrestlers who basically fight a heavyweight style in smaller bodies, with an occasional high-flying move, but hardly the type of dazzling, breathtaking athleticism that would separate the division and turn it into a draw, as Jushin Liger, Lightning Kid (Sean Waltman), Rey Mysterio, Ultimo Dragon, Juventud Guerrera, Psicosis, and (early) Kidman, among others in the '90s did when the division eventually rose to prominence in the peak Nitro years. Chavo and Yang just don't wrestle a style that overcomes the stigma of lacking the push, the size, and the historical prestige compared to the heavyweight titles. No praise by JBL of Chavo being "perhaps the greatest cruiserweight of all-time" can make Chavo matches truly exciting; they're basic heavyweight WWE-style mid-card matches and nothing more - fundamentally strong, but hardly memorable or graceful or dazzling in any way. A basic second rope dropkick by Yang prompted JBL to tout it as what separates the cruiserweight matches from other matches. Hardly. Chavo went into a vertical suplex series reminiscent of Eddie, but Yang escaped and took over. Yang went for a moonsault off the top rope, but Chavo moved. Chavo won shortly thereafter with a frog splash to Yang's back.

WINNER: Chavo in 9:00 to retain the Cruiserweight Title.

STAR RATING (*3/4): Workmanlike and competent, but hardly inspiring. What you get with these two.

WWE Vengeance PPV Results: 6-24-07

3 -- C.M. PUNK vs. JOHNNY NITRO -- ECW Hvt. Title match

Styles noted that because of personal business, Chris Benoit wasn't at Vengeance and Nitro was replacing him. No further explanation was offered. (Benoit had a legit personal emergency and had to rush home to Atlanta earlier in the day.) The crowd, which wasn't given the courtesy of an explanation (hey, it's just a top contender for a World Title not wrestling as advertised - why would the crowd expect the courtesy of a legit explanation?), chanted "We Want Benoit!"At 7:00 Punk nailed Nitro with a running knee to the chin in the corner. After playing to the crowd, he springboarded off the top rope. Nitro ducked. After an awkward few seconds of nothing, Nitro gave Punk a swinging neckbreaker off the middle rope for the clean pin. Crowd was deflated when Nitro came out instead of Benoit, and also deflated when Nitro won. The "replacement" almost always wins, though, so fans feel the replacement wasn't a scrub. It's likely he'll end up getting squashed soon enough to drop the title, but not entirely impossible that they won't change plans and run with him with the belt since management does see potential in him. It's unlikely a personal emergency, though, would derail all booking laid out already when it's easily "fixable" in a quick TV title change.

WINNER: Nitro in 9:00.

STAR RATING (*3/4): Basic stuff, but again hardly a stand-out moment in PPV matches for the year.

4 -- SANTINO MARELLA vs. UMAGA - Intercontinenal Title match

Ross said the only wrestlers who have had even a modicum of success against Umaga have been John Cena and Bobby Lashley. Marella went for an early schoolboy as the bell sounded, but Umaga didn't budge and he choked Marella with one hand. Marella jumped Umaga's back and pounded him with forearms. Umaga jumped backward and squashed Marella under his weight. Umaga applied a long nerve hold in center ring. When he pounded on Marella in the cornre, the ref warned hm off of him, but when he didn't answer the five count, the ref DQ'd him. It's probably the best finish unless they're just giving up on Marella since Umaga couldn't keep his killer heel image if he sold much for the rookie, and this was a chance to get over WWE's new attempt to get over enforcing rules consistently and strictly. Umaga gave Marella a top rope splash afterward. He walked out of the ring, but then looked at his taped thumb. The crowd popped more for that than Steamboat on stage. He reentered the ring and spiked Marella's throat. The crowd then chanted "One More Time!" showing that characters like Marella don't get over in this era. Maria ran out to check on the fallen and battered Marella.

WINNER: Marella in 3:00 via DQ to retain the IC Title.

STAR RATING (1/4*): Not much to it before the DQ, but the start with Marella jumping on Umaga's back was a good way to give Marella some offense without compromising Umaga's cred.

5 -- MVP vs. RIC FLAIR - U.S. Hvt. Title match

MVP got in Magnum's face at ringside. JBL called it a thrill of Magnum's life to meet MVP in person. Cole said Harley Race was in attendance and won the U.S. Title for the first time in 1975. He said MVP was a child when Flair won his first U.S. Title, beating Bobo Brazil in 1977. Flair played mind games with MVP early. Flair worked over MVP's leg early, but MVP came and back and gave Flair a big boot, knocking him off the ring apron to the floor. The camera zoomed in on a small cut on Flair's forehead as MVP put him in a chinlock. The MVP chinlock isn't the same without Benoit in there. Flair avoided an MVP big boot in the corner and then applied a figure-four at 8:00. MVP reached the bottom rope to force a break. When the ref wasn't looking, MVP gave Flair a thumb to the eye, then gave Flair the Playmaker for the win. Cole complained, "This was Ric Flair's night!"

WINNER: MVP via pinfall at 9:00.

STAR RATING (*3/4): Not much time to be anything more than average at best, and a long, mundane chinlock mid-match wasn't particularly imaginative or compelling to watch. Otherwise, good, though.

6 -- DEUCE & DOMINO (w/Cherry) vs. SGT. SLAUGHTER & "SUPERLY" SNUKA

Before the match, Deuce said it stinks like a couple of a has-beens, looking down at Garea and Martel. "I didn't even know you two guys were still alive; this is crazy," said Domino. Then out came Sgt. Slaughter. Cole said he answered a challenge issued by Deuce & Domino. When Snuka came out as Sarge's surprise partner, Cole declared, "It is a legendary night!" Snuka looked like his knees were hardly holding him up. I'm all for acknowledging and showing respect toward past champions, but having them come out and wrestle so far past their prime is disrespectful toward current-day wrestlers, even Deuce & Domino. "I think they named their team The Coffin Dodgers," said JBL about Snuka & Sarge. Snuka was so slow, when Domino went up for a leapfrog, he didn't get under his legs in time and Domino landed on him. Snuka recovered nicely, threw some chops, then tagged in Sarge. At 3:00 Sarge applied the Cobra Clutch, but Domino reached the top rope to force a break. Deuce took over and had Sarge down, so he went for the Superfly Splash, but he took so long, Sarge moved out of his path, then hot-tagged Snuka. Cole called Snuka a "legendary martial arts expert." Four-way "action" broke out at 5:00, with Sarge fighting Domino to the floor. Snuka gave Deuce a backbreaker, then signalled for the Superfly Splash. Sarge stopped Domino from interfering. Snuka hit a crossbody block instead, and Deuce rolled through for the pin. Garea and Martel stopped a post-match beatdown by the heels.

WINNERS: Deuce & Domino at 6:00 to retain the WWE Tag Team Titles.

STAR RATING (DUD): Honestly, the action was just terrible. There's no nice way to put it. But they managed to keep it out of negative stars by not trying to do things beyond their ability to do without hurting themselves or others.

7 -- EDGE vs. BATISTA -- World Hvt. Title match

Batista raised Race's arm at ringside after he came out to show him respect, in contrast to Edge during his ring intro. Cole said Race was a champion himself and now trains champions. He said he trained Lance Cade. JBL corrected him and said it was Trevor Murdoch. "I know they look a lot alike," said JBL. Batista worked on Edge's arm early, then at ringside rammed Edge back-first into the ring apron. Edge escaped Batista's grip and threw him into the ringpost. Edge rolled into the ring as Batista was counted outside the ring. Before ten, he got back on the ring apron. Edge battered him and then threw him shoulder-first into the ringpost. Edge then worked over Batista's shoulder with mat holds for several minutes. At 10:00 Batista shot at Edge with a clothesline, then a big backdrop. He followed with a slam for a near fall at 11:00. He continued to sell his left shoulder being hurt. Edge came back with a quick impaler DDT for a near fall. The crowd popped for Batista's kickout. Edge set up a spear at 12:00. Batista turned it into a tackle instead. The crowd popped big again as Batista shook the top rope, then grabbed at his shoulder. Edge gave Batista a low-blow to stop the Batista Bomb for the DQ. It totally took the wind out of the fans' sails. Cole said, "This is ridiculous!" When the ring announcer said Batista was the winner by DQ, a certain percentage of gullible fans popped, but they were soon silenced with the "bad news" that titles don't change hands on a DQ. Teddy Long then stepped out as Edge began his retreat to the back. Long ordered him to go back to the ring for a match restart. He said if he gets himself DQ'd again, he'd lost the title. Edge looked like his mom told him he can't have a pony for his birthday. The match was restarted 14 minutes after it began. Edge scored with another spear right away for a very near fall. Edge rolled to ringside to grab a chair, but then he dropped it when he realized it would cost him the belt if he were DQ'd. Batista surprised Edge with a small package for a near fall. Batista set up Edge for a Batista Bomb, but Edge shot over Batista and then dropped to the floor at ringside. Edge threw Batista into the ringside steps at 16:00, but Batista came right back with a Batista Bomb on the floor. The ref continued to count both of them. Batista rolled Edge into the ring, but as the ref counted to ten, Batista was still at ringside. Batista looked up at the ref in disbelief and disappointment as he realized that was his last chance at Edge. Batista out of frustration gave Edge a Batista Bomb afterward.

WINNER: Edge via countout in 17:00 to retain the World Hvt. Title.

STAR RATING (***1/4): The false finish and the restart made the countout finish more palatable for the fans because their favorite was in "bonus time" as it was. It was also a good way to give Edge bragging rights that are based on a fluke to ending Batista's title hopes. Batista did a nice job selling is disappointing, pounding the ring apron in frustration over and over at ringside afterward.
