TNA Impact! Results: 5-24-07

We open with a recap of last week's show, focusing on the King of the Mountain announcement and Kurt Angle winning the first King of the Mountain qualifying match.

Ringside, Mike Tenay and Don West talked about Samoa Joe vs. Sting on the show tonight for the very first time.

They aired the usual TNA intro, then came back to the same crowd reaction opening. Tenay and West repeated themselves about Joe vs. Sting.

Team 3D came out to the ring in street clothes. Or, is that their wrestling gear? Not sure. In any event, they have new TNA tag title belts. Ray entered the ring and stared at a sign that read: "We hate 3D." Ray took the mic and told the Steiners to come out. There goes Tenay talking about the number of championships won by each team. I hate that stat. The most misleading stat in wrestling since it means Team 3D and the Steiners have lost the tag title belts at least 30 times. Here's a new stat: average number of days in a year each team held the belts. The Steiners entered the ring and Ray put them over as one of the greatest tag teams in the world. Scott finally cut off Ray and Tenay and said he doesn't need to hear it from Ray about how great they are. Scott asked Ray to name one tag team that Team 3D beat for the WWE tag titles. He said they were the first WCW tag champions and they spent most of their career in WCW, but not one time did they ever see Ray's name on the roster. "3D sucks" chant at this point. Scott talked about the ECW tag title belts. He said when they were tag champs, they traveled the world and defended the belts. Wrestled in Japan. Wrestled in front of 170,000 fans in North Korea. OK, let's establish some context that the "fans" didn't have a choice to attend or not attend. Scott said 3D never left the bingo halls. They should be called ECW city champs, state champs, or bingo hall champs. Scott said there is no world champion in ECW and Ray should know it based on the paychecks they received.

Rick then pulled out a long list of wrestlers the Steiners beat. Road Warriors. Four Horsemen. Nasty Boys. Samoan Swat Team. Outsiders. Luger & Sting. Midnight Express. Freebirds. Money, Inc. Simmons & Reed. Harlem Heat. Rock n' Roll Express. Scott then asked Ray to name any of those teams they beat. Ray then took the mic and said he doesn't understand why Scott is so hot at him. He said they actually respect the Steiners, unlike some of the young boy teams who come in with no respect. Scott said Team 3D's legacy doesn't mean s---. Devon took the mic and said there's one team that the Steiners haven't beaten: Team 3D. Scott then accepted a challenge for Slammiversary. Ray said he hopes they kick their asses at the PPV, so they can say they took Steiners's best and still won the match.

Backstage, Leticia was with Christian Cage and Tomko. Leticia tried to stir trouble between them, then Christian said Tomko told him that he thinks Leticia's getting fat. Christian then said he's not a tag team wrestler because he's a great singles wrestler. Tomko didn't respect Christian's authority and Christian said Jim Cornette booked them in a tag match against LAX because he doesn't respect him. Tomko whispered that Jim Cornette doesn't have anything against Christian except for Christian's huge mouth. Tomko hinted that he might know who Christian's opponent is for the King of the Mountain, but he wouldn't tip his hand since Christian never gave him that title shot.

[Commercial Break]

They cut to a TNA moment from June 19, 2005 when Raven won the NWA Title. Seems like forever ago.

They aired a video package on the Christy Hemme vs. VKM feud.

Backstage, Jeremy Borash interviewed Kip James and Lance Hoyt about B.G. James's condition. Kip said B.G. is still laid up, but he'll be back next week. Kip gave Hoyt a pep talk that he needs to step up after they've been grooming him for several weeks. Hoyt said he's grateful for the opportunity VKM gave him while TNA management overlooked him. He said he's not afraid to hit a lady, either.

1 -- BASHAM & DAMAJA (w/Christy Hemme) vs. LANCE HOYT & KIP JAMES

Basham worked on Kip James in the opening minute. The heels then exchanged tags to keep working on Kip before he caught Damaja with a boot to the face. Kip and Damaja then knocked each other down with a double clothesline. Christy tried to get involved, but Hoyt grabbed her and escorted her up the entrance ramp to the back. That left Kip alone in the ring to take the leg lariat from Basham for the win. Hoyt then hit the ring after the match, but he was too late. Bashams bailed and Hoyt was left in the ring standing over Kip's fallen body.

WINNERS: Basham & Damaja in 3:00. Going through the motions in the ring, but there was storyline advancement with Hoyt failing VKM. (1/2*)

They cut backstage where Borash interviewed Samoa Joe. He said he was directionless and without a purpose until tonight when he receives his opportunity to face Sting with a King of the Mountain spot on the line. He said Sting is in the worst possible place in TNA: in his way. Joe said it's Showtime.

[Commercial Break]

TNA moment from June 19, 2002 when Ken Shamrock won the NWA Title.

Backstage, Borash found Robert Roode and Ms. Brooks. Roode didn't want to talk about Eric Young just yet. Roode then said he wants his shot at the King of the Mountain match and Cornette needs to grant him his opportunity. He said he's going to be the next TNA heavyweight champion. He doesn't care if it's Sting, Angle, Joe, or even Jeff Jarrett. Roode said he's giving Young one week to answer his attorney's letter about Roode's property interest in Young's life and career.

2 -- LAX (HERNANDEZ & HOMICIDE w/Konnan) vs. CHRISTIAN CAGE & TOMKO

The opening bell sounded and they cut to ringside where Hector Guerrero was watching carefully. West plugged that TNA t-shirts are on-sale at Hot Topic right now. Fans were clearly behind LAX early on. Homicide caught Tomko with a big boot to the face, but Tomko easily tossed Homicide aside in the opposite corner. The camera then followed Konnan around ringside as he began jawing with Hector. Tomko slowly played around with Homicide before they cut to a break.

[Commercial Break]

Back from break, Konnan and Hector were still jawing at each other. In the ring, Christian used Homicide as his personal rag doll and hit a gut buster for a nearfall. Tomko then tagged in and hit a running powerslam for a nearfall. Hernandez then made a blind tag and hit a springboard shoulder tackle. He tossed Christian into the corner, then Christian went for a sunset flip, but Hernandez picked him up and hit the cracker jack overhead toss. Hernandez then launched Homicide onto both opponents. Hernandez cleared Tomko to the outside, then Homicide hit a sentaun splash on Christian while Christian was draped across Hernandez's knees. Ringside, Homicide started jawing with Hector. Tomko then re-entered the ring and kicked Hernandez in the face to set up Christian for a top rope frog splash for the win.

After the match, Konnan drove his crutch into Hector's throat, but Hector escaped and ran into the ring. Chris Harris and Rhino then hit the ring for no apparent reason and had Hector's back.

WINNERS: Christian & Tomko in 8:00. What's the point of the Hector vs. Konnan feud? We haven't been given reason to buy into this apparent feud. Match was fine, but Homicide was a rag doll and Christian was a rag doll when working with Hernandez. But, since TNA believes in the philosophy of Even Steven booking, everyone remains at the same level since Christian scored the pin and Homicide wasn't pinned. (*1/4)

Backstage, Borash was with Kurt Angle. Angle talked about Sting-Joe tonight and said he doesn't care about either man. He said they lost his respect weeks ago. Angle said each of them would do anything to win, but he's the only one to admit that he does it. He said he gives an opponent fair warning before he tries to cheat to win. And that makes it more admirable? Hey, guess what? I'm going to take your wallet, but it's not that bad because I'm going to tell you in advance. Silly logic. Angle walked off after suggesting he might be involved in the Sting-Joe match.

[Commercial Break]

TNA moment from June 19, 2005 at Slammiversary for Samoa Joe's debut match against Sonjay Dutt.

3 -- SAMOA JOE vs. STING -- King of the Mountain qualifying match

They danced around the ring after the opening bell. Both men paused when the fans started a "Joe's gonna kill you" chant. They locked up and Sting drove Joe to the corner before they had a clean break. Joe then caught Sting with an atomic drop. He went for a running kick, but Sting blocked and went for the Scorpion deathlock. Joe quickly slipped out, though, and applied a rear naked choke. Sting escaped, then went for the deathlock again, but Joe grabbed the bottom rope to break the hold. Three minutes into the match, Christopher Daniels came to ringside for a closer look. Sting went for a Stinger splash, but Joe moved and caught Sting with a leaping kick to the side of the head. They cut to a break.

[Commercial Break]

Back from the break, Joe was in control. We saw footage from during the break when Sting reprimanded Daniels for coming out ringside. Joe grounded Sting with a headlock, then he went for a suplex, but Sting countered with a reverse DDT. West explained the significance of the match that the loser could be out of the title picture for a while. Tenay said the participants for next week's qualifier would be announced after the match. He said Cornette might find someone outside of TNA since there's no glass ceiling. Whatever that means. Daniels then hopped on the apron and tossed a baseball bat to Sting, but Sting shoved Daniels off the apron. Joe then went for a baseball kick, but Sting moved. Daniels then caught Sting with a baseball bat shot from the outside. Joe and the ref didn't see Daniels's action, then Joe hit a Samoan Drop for the win.

WINNER: Joe in 11:00 to qualify for King of the Mountain. Basic, standard wrestling match. Nothing flashy, just a match. Of course, Daniels's interference ensured that Sting didn't have to do a clean job, but at least it sets up the issue for their match - probably at Slammiversary. (*3/4)

Tenay gave a quick plug that A.J. Styles vs. Jeff Jarrett has been signed for next week as a qualifying match.

WWE Smackdown Results: 5-25-07

Golden goals
By Lennie DiFino
May 25, 2007

DES MOINES, Iowa. – The fallout from Judgment Day was in full force on SmackDown, as new champions celebrated, while others fought to find a taste of gold.

After the ultimate opportunist, Edge kicked off SmackDown reveling in his own glory, General Manager Theodore Long announced to the World Heavyweight Champion and our fans that a match would take place to determine the No. 1 contender to the title. With the winner facing Edge at One Night Stand in a Steel Cage Match, Batista was able to defeat Mark Henry, Finlay and Kane in a Fatal Four Way to earn the No. 1 contender’s position.

Montel Vontavious Porter brought his newly won United States Championship to Des Moines to celebrate his victory over Chris Benoit at Judgment Day. The brash, swaggering Superstar was throwing his bling in the air and in the face of the Rabid Wolverine, but his celebration was cut short when he let his ego get the best of him and demanded too much from Chris Benoit.

In other SmackDown action, Paul London & Brian Kendrick stepped into the ring against the ever-dangerous duo of William Regal and Dave Taylor, with each team hoping to become the next challengers to Deuce & Domino’s WWE Tag Team Championships. London & Kendrick picked up the victory by disqualification when the boys from the Other Side of the Tracks interfered. All three teams then brawled, which has led to a Triple Threat Match first announced here on WWE.com for the WWE Tag Team Championship Friday on SmackDown.

Another SmackDown Superstar with tag team gold around his waist is Matt Hardy, who took on The Miz in one-on-one action. Despite perhaps one of his best performances to date, Miz was unable to get the pinfall, instead losing when Matt Hardy delivered the Twist of Fate. Hardy continues his impressive streak, as he continues to climb the SmackDown ladder.

Also on Friday, SmackDown’s resident redneck Jimmy Wang Yang defeated Cruiserweight Champion Chavo Guerrero in a non-title match. Yang appears to have the number of the Cruiserweight Champion, having pinned him in two straight weeks.

Moving from one Guerrero to another, General Manager Theodore Long has named Vickie Guerrero the Assistant General Manager of SmackDown, so that he can spend more time with his girl Kristal. Vickie told her new boss, “I promise I won’t let our fans down.” While Vickie seems to have turned over a new leaf, even Long has his reservations.

One Diva who is used to letting our fans down, or rather, making them duck for cover is Jillian. The wannabe pop princess debuted her new song “Jill & Tonic,” and the results are the same – a toxic mix. The tone-deaf Diva caught the ire of Boogeyman, and as she tried to escape, Michelle McCool threw her into the ring, leaving Jillian to a foul worming by Boogeyman & Little Boogeyman.

Saturday Night Main Event Lineup

WWE sent a press release on Friday with the line-up for Saturday Night's Main Event that will air on NBC in the U.S. and Global TV in Canada at 11:30 p.m. EST next Saturday. The matches will be taped in Toronto on Monday as part of a dual taping with Raw.

John Cena vs. Great Khali will be the featured match, although it's a non-title match. The Smackdown featured match will be Batista & Chris Benoit vs. Edge & MVP. Taking pro wrestling back its carnival roots, they're also advertising "the WWE's strangest and smallest going head-to-head in a match that can only be seen to be believed."

Christian signs multi-year TNA contract

http://wrestlingrevealed.com/

TNA has announced that former world champion Christian Cage has signed a multi-year contract extension with TNA.

This is a tremendous bit of news for TNA because in Cage, they have a main event heel who is still recognizable to the majority of wrestling fans. Along with Kurt Angle, Cage provides TNA with credibility, especially with new fans who are only familiar with the WWE brand of wrestling.

When Cage quit the WWE in 2005, it sent a bit of a shockwave throughout the wrestling community because most people viewed the WWE as the place to be. While the WWE is still the main goal for most wrestlers who get into wrestling, it was no longer the case for Cage.

In the WWE, Cage felt that he had reached the glass ceiling. He didn't feel that he would be elevated any higher than he was. Cage felt that the WWE didn't have enough faith in him as a main eventer when they added Chris Jericho to his main event program with John Cena. So, when his contracted ended, he made the decision to go where he felt his character would be allowed to develop.

That place was TNA, which has now become a viable alternative work place for wrestlers. Silently, wrestlers in the WWE have always hoped that TNA would succeed. Having a second company to work for allows them a little bit more leverage in contract negotiations with the WWE.

A lot of uninformed fans fail to realize that if TNA improves, then the WWE product improves as well. Vince McMahon is a tremendous businessman when motivated. Ever since WCW died several years back, he hasn't had an ounce of competition, so his motivation and creativity has died off as well.

If TNA succeeds, we all benefit. Signing Cage to a long term deal is a step towards success.

WWE RAW Results: 5-28-07

The last stand before One Night Stand
By Noah Starr
May 28, 2007

TORONTO – “There is no doubt whether I can get the job done,” promised a confident John Cena on Raw Monday night, referring to his upcoming One Night Stand Falls Count Anywhere Match against The Great Khali.

“I give you my word that I can, and will, defeat The Great Khali!” Our fans know that only time will tell if the WWE Champion can hang on to his gold by toppling the mountain that is The Great Khali.

The main event of Raw saw the unlikely trio of Shane McMahon, Umaga & The Great Khali conquering WWE Champion John Cena & Bobby Lashley. Shane lived up to his promise of pinning Lashley by landing a flying elbow drop from the top rope on the muscular chest of the former ECW World Champion.

Raw’s main event actually marked the second appearance of the night by Shane McMahon. Earlier, Shane-O-Mac announced that in two weeks on Raw, every Superstar and Diva from Raw, SmackDown and ECW will gather for the first-ever tri-branded draft.

Recently at Judgment Day, Randy Orton squared off against the legendary Showstopper Shawn Michaels. After the match ended, Orton shocked our fans by delivering a devastating RKO to the already concussed HBK. Last week, Rob Van Dam granted WWE.com an exclusive interview in which he had harsh words for Orton regarding the Judgment Day match and Orton’s respect for the sports-entertainment business. After reading RVD’s interview, the Legend Killer demanded a match with the ECW Original on Raw. In a horrific mirroring of the events that occurred at Judgment Day, the referee stopped the match due to Rob Van Dam’s unresponsive nature.

In related news, WWE.com has learned that Shawn Michaels has recently been released from the care of doctors. Michaels’ medical team have stated that although his condition has not worsened, they have done all that they can do for the injured Superstar.

In other Raw action, the talented Hardys used their patented high-flying maneuvers to conquer Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch, The World’s Greatest Tag Team and Johnny Nitro & Kenny Dykstra in a 8-Man Tag Team Match. Immediately following the pin, Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas claimed that because they were not the ones pinned, they deserved an opportunity to face The Hardys for their World Tag Team Championships. Never a tag team to back down from a challenge, The Hardys agreed to a match at One Night Stand and added an additional challenge to the mix: the contest would be a Ladder Match!

In a match filled with sour grapes (or is it sour apples?) Carlito teamed with Victoria to defeat his former mentor Ric Flair, and former girlfriend Torrie Wilson. At the end of this special Intergender Tag Team Match, Carlito stepped into the ring with Torrie and laid an unwelcome kiss on the gorgeous Diva. Torrie slapped Carlito and he countered with a vicious Backstabber that allowed him to pin his ex and pick up the win.

Also on Raw, Santino Marella was conquered by Chris Masters’ powerful Master Lock much to the dismay of the lovely Maria, who seems to be showing some interest in the Italian Superstar. If our fans needed even more of the Sexiest Women on Television, then the first-ever Memorial Day Bikini Beach Blast Battle Royal that started the show certainly didn’t disappoint. SmackDown’s Michelle McCool won the match and will get her own special photo shoot featured on WWE.com.

Lastly, it has been announced that WWE Champion John Cena will put his title on the line at Saturday Night’s Main Event against The Great Khali in a Special Challenge Match.

Matches
Michelle McCool wins The Memorial Day Bikini Beach Blast Battle Royal
World Tag Team Champions The Hardys def. Lance Cade & Trevor Murdcoh, World's Greatest Tag Team and Johnny Nitro & Kenny Dykstra (non title)
Randy Orton def. Rob Van Dam
Carlito & Victoria def. Ric Flair & Torrie Wilson
Chris Masters def. Santino Marella (Master Lock Challenge)
Shane McMahon, The Great Khali & Umaga def. WWE Champion John Cena & Bobby Lashley (Shane McMahon pins Bobby Lashley)

ECW on Sci-Fi Results: 5-29-07

Defending the legend of ECW against a killer
By Bryan Robinson
May 29, 2007
LONDON, ONTARIO, Canada – Randy Orton knew he was in hostile territory when he invaded the Land of the Extreme, the home of the man he injured the night before on Raw, Rob Van Dam.

He relished the boos that ECW fans rained on him at the John Labatt Centre. Orton said he was proud that he had ended Shawn Michaels’ career and was proud that he had given Rob Van Dam a concussion on Raw, rendering him unable to compete tonight on ECW on Sci Fi. The Legend Killer vowed to finish RVD once and for all and have him carried out on a stretcher, just like HBK, after the two waged war in a Stretcher Match at One Night Stand.

Fellow ECW Original and longtime RVD friend couldn’t stand it anymore and marched from the locker room and challenged Orton.

“Everyone in that locker room and everyone here looks up to Shawn Michaels,” Dreamer said. “RVD is a close friend of mine, and I'm not going to stand by and let you come out here and run your mouth. You’re right – you’re not welcome here. But you are welcome to have a match with me … tonight!”

Dreamer seemed to fight for not just his friend but all of ECW in his battle with the sadistic, arrogant Orton. But like so many others, he fell victim to Orton’s RKO. With a gleam in his eye, Orton began to target Dreamer’s head and was ready to add him to his list of concussion victims when Van Dam stunned the crowd and ran from the back to protect his friend. But Orton stopped a still-injured RVD with one blow to the head, and RVD could only gaze at the Raw Superstar as he awaited their showdown at One Night Stand. Read the whole story …

One Night Stand may be the last stand for either Bobby Lashley or ECW World Champion Mr. McMahon. In an interactive interview, both men promised to emerge victorious in their Street Fight at One Night Stand. The Chairman crowed about how much he has demoralized and been one step ahead of Lashley in his quest to regain the ECW World Title.

"You are entering my world, Bobby Lashley, this Sunday. I'm from the streets," the Chairman said. "This title does not belong to you. It belongs to me."

But Lashley, ever-determined and undaunted, promised our fans that he would win the Street Fight this Sunday and regain the ECW World Title and bring honor back to the Land of the Extreme.

"I am a champion, and I need my title back," Lashley said. "I won't need a weapon to beat you this Sunday. I promise I will regain my title, and the people will be cheering."

Two other ECW Superstars who can’t wait for One Night Stand are Elijah Burke and CM Punk. The two were supposed to square off in a No Disqualification Tag Team Match until RVD was injured. Punk sought revenge for a beating the New Breed leader and his enforcer, Marcus Cor Von, delivered on him and Van Dam after their tag team encounter last week.

So, Punk and Burke battled each other one-on-one in a No Disqualification Match. The Straightedge Superstar battled valiantly but Burke outlasted him, with the help of Cor Von. And the two members of the New Breed showed Punk that they were ready for him and his partners Dreamer and Sandman in their upcoming Six-Man Tag Team Tables Match at One Night Stand when they put him through a table.

One man who seems ready for anyone – and any kind of match – since leaving the New Breed is Kevin Thorn. He has left a trail of new victims since he liberated himself from the faction, and Balls Mahoney was the latest to feel the fanged freak’s power.

Matches
Elijah Burke def. CM Punk (No Disqualification Match)
Kevin Thorn def. Balls Mahoney
Randy Orton def. Tommy Dreamer

TNA Impact! Results: 5-31-07

1 -- RHINO (w/Hector Guerrero) vs. HOMICIDE (w/Konnan and Hernandez)

We join the match mid-action with Rhino slamming Homicide into the corner turnbuckles before taking a back body drop. Homicide then side-stepped Rhino and tossed him over the top rope. He followed with a cannonball suicide dive on the floor. Hernandez delivered a right hand or two for good measure, then he tossed Rhino back into the ring. Homicide went up top and landed an elbow drop for a nearfall before applying a neck vice. Rhino made his comeback with an overhead toss, then he set up for the Gore, but Hernandez grabbed Rhino's foot. Homicide then decked Hector off the apron, but Rhino caught Homicide with a Gore for the win.

After the match, Hernandez instantly jumped Rhino. Konnan then took his crutch and tried to nail Rhino, but Hector cut him off. Hernandez jumped Hector from behind, though, and Konnan jabbed his crutch into Hector's gut. Konnan then rammed the crutch into Rhino's gut before Chris Harris made a random save. The former Pirate took a crutch blow to the back, though, and Konnan continued to nail the babyfaces with crutch shots. Homicide then opened up Harris's forehead with right hand blows. LAX did the burial closing on Hector as their music hit.

WINNER: Rhino in 4:00. As usual, the post-match angle took precedence over the in-ring wrestling. That said, tremendous heat for the segment. Crowd was red hot. LAX was cooled way off for several weeks after losing the NWA Tag Titles, but this was a good way to get them back on track with a hot segment. We still don't know why Chris Harris is involved here. (*1/2)

Backstage, Borash found Samoa Joe for an interview. Before Joe could put two words together, Kurt Angle interrupted and told Joe to stop worrying about Styles and Tomko and worry about him. Angle said that last week, he made a statement that if he's going to cripple someone, he's going to tell them first. Angle vowed to cripple Joe, then Joe said Angle better pray he doesn't get him first. "Let the games begin," Joe said. Here we go again.

[Commercial Break]

Backstage, Leticia interrupted a Christian Coalition meeting. Styles screamed at Christian for always getting him in trouble with these random predicaments. Tomko was all smiles, then Christian asked Tomko what was so funny. He told Joy Boy that they're both his family, but brothers fight sometimes. Christian said the better man would win tonight, then after that, everything would be cool. Christian asked for team spirit, then they did a Little League cheer. Tomko cut off the cheer, though, and grabbed Styles by the neck. He said it would be short, quick, and painless. He let go of Styles's throat, then left, and Christian was left to assuage Styles's fears about the match.

2 -- X Division champion CHRIS SABIN vs. KAX -- non-title match

Tenay and West talked about how unbelievable it is that Sabin has had a lengthy title reign. The unspoken sentiment here was that Sabin isn't a credible champion. The match started with Kaz on the offensive as the crowd established a rooting interest for Kaz. Sabin then cut him off with a thumb to the eye before knocking Kaz to the floor and hitting a suicide dive. Back in the ring, Sabin slapped on a reverse chin lock, but Kaz fought to his feet and Sabin cut him off. He playfully slapped Kaz across the face, but Kaz caught him with a leg sweep before hitting a turnaround leg drop for a nearfall. Kaz then hit a karate-style leaping front kick for a close nearfall. Sabin showed ass when Kaz grabbed a handful of trunks, then Sabin hit a side kick. Kaz suddenly countered the Cradle Shock with the Wave of the Future spinning slam for a close nearfall. Crowd popped for the nearfall. They fought up top, and Kaz landed another martial arts front kick to the face. Kaz then set up Sabin up top for possibly the Flux Capacitor, but Kaz was distracted by Raven, Martyr, and Havoc's presence on top of the building. Sabin then crotched Kaz and landed a basement dropkick. He finished him off with a Cradle Shock for the win.

WINNER: Sabin in 6:00. Wow. Easily the best X Division match in months, possibly this year on TV. Reminded me of the great matches I saw Kazarian have in California three years ago. Crowd was red hot, they were into Kaz, and Sabin was over as a heel based on the underdog status for Kaz. (**1/2)

They cut to a video package with B.G. James cutting a promo on Basham and Damaja. He said they did what they shouldn't have done and woke up a pissed off cowboy. He screamed that they better bring their "A" game to their next match because no one walks out of a fight except a James. Indeed. "Get it? Got it? Good," he said in closing. An old school territory promo, but with a bit too much screaming.

[Commercial Break]

They cut to Eye Spy where Jay Lethal made a cup of coffee for Kevin Nash. Nash went for homoerotic overtones by saying he likes his coffee hot and black. Sonjay Dutt then interrupted and said the Playa from the Himalayas is done. He said we would see a new Dutt on next week's show. Lethal did a Savageism about Lethal freaking everyone out.

3 -- A.J. STYLES vs. TOMKO -- King of the Mountain qualifying match

Christian Cage didn't come to the ring with either man. The bell sounded, then Styles and Tomko danced around the ring before locking up. Christian then walked down the ramp with a chair in hand and talked to Styles. Tenay plugged that two former World Champions would face off next week in the King of the Mountain qualifying match. Back to the action, Styles charged Tomko, but Tomko side stepped him and Styles slid through the ropes to the floor. Christian helped Styles to his feet and gave him a pep talk.

[Commercial Break]

Styles was in control out of the break. They cut to footage from during the break when Tomko was distracted by Christian, allowing Styles to take out Tomko's knee from behind. Back to the action, Styles continued to work on Tomko as Christian tried to reinforce Styles's childish glee. Styles landed a stiff kick to the thigh, then Kurt Angle walked out on stage for a closer look. The fans turned and watched Angle, then Samoa Joe walked out behind Angle and "accidentally" bumped into Angle on the ramp. Back in the ring, Tomko made a comeback and gave Styles a big powerslam into an overhead slam for a nearfall. Suddenly, Styles landed a Pele soccer kick, but Tomko shook it off and tossed him into the corner. Christian and Tomko started talking again, which allowed Styles to hit a springboard forearm smash. Christian hopped on the apron and pulled the referee in for a conference. Meanwhile, Styles slipped to the outside and retrieved a chair, but Tomko gave him a big boot to the face and made a cover for a nearfall. Christian picked up the chair, then Tomko and Christian argued over possession of the chair. Styles took advantage by rolling up Tomko from behind for the pin and the win.

Afterward, Tomko stared down Christian, who backed off the apron and said he didn't do anything. He backed up one entrance ramp while Angle and Joe started jawing on the opposite entrance ramp. In the midst of this, Styles smiled and jogged in place inside the ring to celebrate his victory.

WINNER: Styles in 10:00 to qualify for the King of the Mountain. We got about six minutes of wrestling with the mid-match commercial. Wrestling was secondary at times to the action outside of the ring, but a dramatic match that finished with a non-traditional non-clean finish that built on the earlier segments of creating more tension within the Christian Coalition. Joe and Angle watching from ringside added more importance to the match. Now, if only they reinforced the importance of the belt everyone is chasing after, which is the element of the story that's missing. Hm ... sounds like a column in this week's Torch Newsletter. (**)

LONDON, ONTARIO, Canada – In a highly tumultuous week for sports-entertainment, the Superstars of SmackDown headed toward Saturday Night’s Main Event and then One Night Stand with the imminent tri-branded draft circling their thoughts. Championships and rivalries may all have to take a back seat after the blockbuster announcement of the draft and no Superstar, Diva or leprechaun is safe when the draft takes place in less than two weeks on Raw.

One man who remains focused heading into One Night Stand is the No. 1 contender to the World Heavyweight Championship, Batista. World Heavyweight Champion Edge attempted to play some mind games with Batista on the SmackDown debut of The Cutting Edge, but The Animal would not allow the ultimate opportunist to get into his head, instead delivering a verbal and physical message of his own. The Rated-R Superstar and Batista go one-on-one in a 15-foot high steel cage this Sunday on pay-per-view.

Looking to deliver his own message to Kane (one of the participants in Saturday Night’s Main Event as one of the “strangest”), the World’s Strongest Man Mark Henry viciously assaulted the Big Red Monster in singles competition. These two mammoths will now face off at One Night Stand in a Lumberjack Match, and if their SmackDown match was any indication, Henry and Kane may need more than the lumberjacks to contain them.

Making her mark felt on SmackDown is the new Assistant General Manager Vickie Guerrero. On her first day on the job, Vickie was instrumental in making the Lumberjack Match between Kane and Mark Henry. General Manager Theodore Long praised Vickie for her efforts, and then addressed the worries of his girlfriend, Kristal. Long eased Kristal’s concerns of being drafted away from her boyfriend by telling her that he would “give up everything to be with her.”

In other SmackDown action, Deuce & Domino successfully defended their WWE Tag Team Championship in a Triple Threat Tag Match, defeating Paul London & Brian Kendrick and William Regal & Dave Taylor. Triple threat rules were in effect, as only two competitors were allowed in the ring at one time, although they could tag anyone they chose. The win for the men from the Other Side of the Tracks did not come without controversy, as Deuce’s girlfriend and Domino’s sister Cherry got involved just when it seemed it was London & Kendrick’s night, helping secure the win for her boys.

When it comes to securing victories, nobody has been hotter than Matt Hardy. He teamed with Chris Benoit to take on the team of the United States Champion Montel Vontavious Porter and The Miz. Benoit’s issues with MVP have not ended, and the Wolverine took his hostility out on The Miz, forcing the recently aggressive youngster to tap to the Crossface. The U. S. Champ MVP and Benoit will stare across the ring at each other again tomorrow night at Saturday Night’s Main Event in more tag action, when Benoit teams with Batista to take on Porter & World Heavyweight Champion Edge.

One Diva who is feeling the thrill of success is Michelle McCool, who arrived at SmackDown after winning the Memorial Day Bikini Beach Blast Battle Royal on Raw. The rivalry between McCool and Jillian has been brewing since the tone-deaf Diva attacked Ashley, and McCool was able to pick up another victory over the wannabe pop princess when Ashley distracted Jillian.

Finally, two Superstars who won’t give each other an inch of breathing room are Hornswoggle and Little Boogeyman. The two will participate at Saturday Night’s Main Event as part of “the smallest” attraction when Hornswoggle teams with Finlay, and Little Boogeyman teams with Boogeyman. As a warm-up, the two squared off in singles action, with Finlay’s leprechaun using the Tadpole Splash after a shillelagh shot from the Irishman to win the match with Boogeyman’s mini-sized minion.

Matches
Chris Benoit & Matt Hardy def. United States Champion MVP & The Miz
Michelle McCool def. Jillian Hall
Hornswoggle def. Little Boogeyman
Mark Henry def. Kane (Countout)
WWE Tag Team Champions Deuce & Domino def. Paul London & Brian Kendrick and William Regal & Dave Taylor

WWE Saturday Night Main Event Results: 6-2-07

Less than 24 hours before Extreme Rules prevail at One Night Stand, Superstars from Raw, SmackDown and ECW battled in a proverbial circus of extremes that ranged from the biggest, the smallest, the strangest and the strongest. The result: one of the wildest editions of Saturday Night’s Main Event in WWE history.

The biggest focused on none other than the 7-foot-3, 420-pound Great Khali, who seriously downsized WWE Champion John Cena in non-title competition before their Pinfalls Count Anywhere Match Sunday night. Despite besting the behemoth at Judgment Day by making him tap out to the STFU, The Champ has been measurably manhandled since (many say “foolishly”) challenging Khali to a rematch at One Night Stand. Saturday Night’s Main Event proved no different. Cena’s attempts to mount an offense — highlighted by two failed efforts to heave the mammoth up in the FU — only produced colossal elbows and size 18EEEE boots to his face, a giant chop across his skull and a monstrous chokeslam that laid him out. Khali’s insultingly nonchalant pinfall victory over The Champ left our shocked fans asking the biggest question of all: If Cena can’t hit the FU, how can he possibly pin Khali anywhere at One Night Stand?

SNME’s smallest altercation was anything but belittling for Hornswoggle and Little Boogeyman, whose tiny tete-a-tete on SmackDown Friday night once again drew Finlay and Boogeyman into their growing (?) rivalry. Early in the tag contest, the worm-eating wildmen from the Bottomless Pit threatened to walk tall, but Hornswoggle’s stunted shenanigans would eventually exploit the twin freaks’ short attention spans. Boogeyman would chase the spooked leprechaun up the entrance ramp, allowing Finlay to connect with a big boot to Little Boogey’s face and pick up the three-count. The pitter-patter of panicked little feet rampaged around the arena hallway soon afterward, as an angry Little Boogeyman chased Hornswoggle back out to the ring and effectively cut short Extreme Expose’s performance to Timbaland’s “Throw it on Me.” The leprechaun and mini-maniac earned huge cheers from the crowd when they next hoisted Brooke and Layla on their respective shoulders, prompting the bewildered beauties to playfully engage in a catfight (or in the case of these tiny terrors, a “kitty-diddy”).

Amazingly, SNME’s strangest encounter of the evening was an eclectic Six-Man Tag Match that seemed torn from the pages of Ripley’s Believe it or Not, in which Umaga, Viscera & Kevin Thorn battled Kane, a superhero outfit-clad Eugene and the returning Doink the Clown. Despite early in-ring antics from Raw’s wrestling savant and WWE’s classic horn-honking jokester, freakish fortune seemed to favor the Samoan Bulldozer, the World’s Largest Love Machine and ECW’s bloodsucking Superstar…until SmackDown’s Big Red Monster tagged in. Unleashing pure hell against the adversarial trio, Kane’s bone-jarring chokelsam on the 500-pound Viscera powered his team to victory, and undoubtedly sent a chilling message to Mark Henry, his opponent at One Night Stand. The 380-pound strongman may have the mass going into their Lumberjack Match Sunday night, but the Big Red Monster is more than ready to deliver the mayhem.

Of course, Henry may not have received Kane’s message, since he was helping ECW World Champion Mr. McMahon deliver one to Bobby Lashley. Moments before the “strongest” portion of Saturday Night’s Main Event — an Arm-Wrestling Contest — took place, the self-professed “Doctor of Hardcore” suddenly bowed out. Rationalizing that he’d get to “embarrass” Lashley at One Night Stand, Mr. McMahon decided to name Henry as his arm-wrestling replacement. Needless to say, it was all just a ploy for the World’s Strongest Man to strong-arm Lashley, and allow the “World’s Strongest McMahon” to demoralize his challenger less than 24 hours before their Street Fight for the ECW World Title. All signs point to Mr. McMahon having the last laugh Sunday night; can Lashley somehow curb the ego-centric Chairman’s enthusiasm, and reclaim the ECW World Title?

Prior to SNME’s Tag Team Match against Batista & Chris Benoit, World Heavyweight Champion Edge informed Raw Diva Maria that he wasn’t the biggest, the smallest, the strangest or the strongest. “What I am,” he claimed, “is the greatest.” If by that he meant nervously escaping up the ramp and leaving his partner — United States Champion Montel Vontavious Porter — high and dry, then no one’s better than the ultimate opportunist. Now mere hours away from meeting Batista inside a Steel Cage at One Night Stand, Edge looked more than a little shell-shocked to discover that The Animal’s heavily taped right hamstring (a well-documented injury resulting from three brutal encounters with Undertaker) no longer showed signs of hampering his awesome power. Therefore, the Rated-R Superstar decided to leave MVP to the not-so-tender mercies of Batista and the Rabid Wolverine, whose flying headbutt off the top rope secured the win. He’ll have nowhere to run at One Night Stand, however; locked in the cage with a now-healthy Animal chomping at the bit, it may, in fact, be Edge’s last stand as champion.

Matches
The Great Khali def. WWE Champion John Cena (non title)
Bobby Lashley vs. Mark Henry (Arm Wrestling Match) (no contest)
Chris Benoit & Batista def. Montel Vontavious Porter & Edge
Finlay & Hornswoggle def. Boogeyman & Little Boogeyman
Kane, Eugene & Doink the Clown def. Viscera, Kevin Thorn & Umaga

yeah, definetly a kind of match that needs to happen more often in TNA, without gimmicks.
btw, its "Kaz", the results guy (not arcademan) mis-spelled it. its Kaz, as in Frankie 'Kaz'arian. also, i hope Kaz does leave Serotonin cuz they are a lame act and Frankie is way too good for them.

WWE One Night Stand PPV Results: 6-3-07

Real-time results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's coverage)

Tonight, the only rules are Extreme Rules. They recapped the top feuds on the PPV, then went live to the arena for a big pyro show and crowd shots. Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler opened the show before kicking it to Joey Styles and Tazz, who talked about Vince vs. Lashley. Michael Cole and JBL pulled up the rear discussing Edge vs. Batista.

Randy Orton came out first for the stretcher match and we got a glimpse of the entrance set, which looks like the WWE Hardcore title belt design extrapolated over several yards of fencing. They went to the same video package on Orton's destruction of HBK and RVD. RVD then slowly walked out and passed the finish line.

1 -- RANDY ORTON vs. ROB VAN DAM -- Stretcher match

RVD and Orton went nose-to-nose after the bell sounded, then RVD did the thumbs-to-the-shoulder pose, but kicked Orton straight in the face on "Dam". Orton then slumped down as if he had a concussion. RVD followed up with ten punches in the corner, working on Orton's cranium. Ross said Orton's long past due a trip to the woodshed. RVD then dropped a leg across Orton's neck while Orton kept checking his head to see if he was still in one piece. RVD continued to nail Orton right in the face with kicks and punches, but Orton blocked a kick and landed a forearm to the face. RVD, who wasn't selling the concussion angle to this point, suddenly collapsed to the mat and had the faraway look in his eyes. Orton tried to capitalize with the RKO, but RVD landed another kick to the face. RVD then tried to hop up top for Five Star, but he fell right off the top rope and crashed to the floor. Orton slowly picked up RVD on the outside and rolled him into the ring before landing a high dropkick. Orton followed with the Orton Stomp to the head, methodically working on the forehead. He then picked up RVD with a side grip and landed a suplex slam. On the outside, RVD suddenly picked up a burst of energy and rammed Orton hard into the ring steps. The ref checked on RVD's condition, then RVD picked up Orton and placed him face-first on the stretcher. He then went to the apron and tried to balance himself for a highspot before hitting a windmill kick to Orton's back. Orton fell off the stretcher, while RVD crashed to the floor. Lawler questioned why RVD didn't just push Orton across the finish line to win the match.

At 11:00, RVD took Orton back into the ring and built up a head of steam for a round of clotheslines. Orton suddenly countered with a hard powerslam to counter Rolling Thunder. Great counter. Orton took RVD to the ropes and tried to suplex him onto the stretcher, but RVD blocked and drop kicked Orton off the apron to the floor. RVD then placed Orton on the stretcher again, and went back into the ring. He went for a somersault flip dive onto Orton, but Orton moved off the stretcher and RVD crashed hard onto the stretcher. Sick spot. Orton then picked up RVD like a small child and placed him onto the stretcher. He began rolling RVD down the aisle toward the finish line, but RVD showed life a few feet from the line. RVD then kicked Orton in the face and Orton collapsed on the stretcher. He then pushed Orton the final ten feet across the finish line to win the match. Well, isn't that a shocker.

But, wait, there's more. Orton got up off the stretcher and jumped RVD from behind as he did the Rob-Van-Dam salute. He then gave RVD a kick to the face and RVD fell over the guardrail right into the lap of a fan. The fan pushed him to the floor in self-defense, then Orton hopped the guardrail and stared down at RVD, who wasn't moving. Ross and Lawler went into serious mode about RVD's health, then Orton pulled RVD across the guardrail and gave him a spike DDT head-first onto the floor. Trainers then flocked to ringside and a second stretcher entered the picture. RVD was placed in a neckbrace, then rolled onto a backboard. They replayed the highpoints of the match, then we saw RVD being stretchered from ringside.

WINNER: RVD in 15:00. A surprise match finish, but the end result was what we all expected for RVD. A good match with plenty of action and an easy storyline to follow. (**1/2)

2 -- THE SANDMAN & TOMMY DREAMER & C.M. PUNK vs. ELIJAH BURKE & MARCUS COR VON & MATT STRIKER -- Tables match

Cor Von and Dreamer started things off and went to a standoff. Striker then distracted Dreamer, allowing Cor Von to punch Dreamer in the back and begin the heel attack. Burke came in and lost control, then Sandman tagged in and dropped Striker with a hip toss. Punk took a tag and landed a high knee lift on Striker before landing a running bulldog. The action broke down and Punk hit Cor Von with a suicide dive on the floor, but he came up holding his left shoulder. He shook that off, though, and hit a springboard clothesline onto Burke in the ring. Sandman, bleeding from the forehead, then chased Striker to the floor with a cane. Sandman and Dreamer tried to send Striker through a table on the floor, but Burke moved the table out of the way just in time. The heels went back on the advantage and Striker slid a table into the ring before setting it up against the corner turnbuckles. Dreamer then saved Punk from taking a running slam through the table, and the ECW Originals went back on the attack. The action broke down before Cor Von dropped Punk with the Alphabomb. He then re-set the table in the corner and placed Punk flat on his back on the hardwood. He then went up top for a Vader bomb, but Sandman caned Cor Von off the top rope. Back in center ring, Dreamer dropped Burke with a piledriver and placed him on the table. Punk then superplexed Striker off the top rope through Burke and the table, giving the Originals the win. Nice spot. The Originals celebrated the victory by taking a victory lap around ringside before posing on the stage.

WINNERS: Punk & Dreamer & Sandman in 8:00. Nice match. Definitely a brawl, but it was kept in control and there was space in between each highspot so it didn't all run together. Nice finishing spot. (**)

Backstage, Randy Orton talked to Edge. He said his two former partners - Batista from Evolution and Edge from Raw - are battling it out tonight. Edge wanted to know what Orton's agenda is. Orton said he doesn't care who wins tonight because all that matters is that he's taking people out and he's gunning for the World Hvt. Title if he gets traded to Smackdown. Edge said that if Orton does make it to Smackdown, he would wind up just like Batista later tonight. Edge then left ringside.

Ringside, Ross and Lawler gave us an update that RVD has sustained another concussion and he's been taken to the hospital.

3 -- MATT & JEFF HARDY vs. SHELTON BENJAMIN & CHARLIE HAAS -- World Tag Title match -- ladder match

The Hardys, well-tanned, took control to start things off. I don't remember ever seeing Jeff as big in his upper body as he is tonight. Suddenly, they had a four-man stand off with all four men holding ladders. Hardys made the first move and dropped their ladders before dropkicking Haas and Benjamin's ladders into them. Matt then set up a ladder sandwich on Haas before ramming Shelton into the stack of ladders. Jeff followed by flying off Matt's back and leg whipping the ladders and Haas & Benjamin. He then started climbing a ladder, but Haas pulled him off the ladder to the mat. Haas and Benjamin started working on the Hardys, but Matt cut off Haas and dropped him with the electric chair from a ladder. The Hardys both climbed a ladder and got fingertips on the belts, but Benjamin threw a separate ladder into the Hardys, knocking them to the mat. This is all in the first four minutes with enough action to fit a 15-minute match.

At 7:00, the Hardys double clotheslined Shelton over the top rope to the floor. They retrieved the big momma ladders from ringside and set up one of the ladders across the edge of the ring and guardrail. They slammed Haas across the edge of the ladder before Matt flipped Shelton over the top rope onto the ladder and Shelton crashed wicked hard onto the ladder. Jeff then went up top for a potential splash onto Shelton, but Haas cut him off. Haas then went for an overhead suplex from the top rope and nearly slipped off the top to crack both men's necks. Back in the ring, Matt started climbing a ladder for the belts, but Haas pulled his foot and shoved him off the ladder across the top rope. On the outside, Haas struggled to set up some sort of ladder spot, so he simply placed Matt on a 90 degree angle against one ladder. In the ring, Shelton climbed a ladder and flew to the outside with a big splash onto Matt's back, sending Matt crashing to the floor. Yeoch. Back in the ring, Haas started climbing a ladder, but Jeff cut him off. He then superplexed Haas off the top of the ladder hard into the mat. Haas writhed in pain on the mat and Lawler said that's an example of a grown men crying. Ross said these type of matches shorten careers. "Why do they do it?" Lawler asked. Ross said they're not Team Extreme because it makes for a nice t-shirt.

At 14:00, Jeff started climbing, but Shelton kicked the ladder and Jeff fell off the ladder across the top rope. Shelton started to climb the ladder, but Matt cut him off. Matt then set up two ladders in center ring. He climbed one ladder and got his hands on the belt, but Shelton cut him off. Jeff came to in the background, as did Haas. We have a four-man spot on top of the ladders at 16:00, with Shelton and Haas getting the worst of it. Jeff then hit the Swanton Bomb on Haas and Matt climbed the ladder to retrieve both belts to win the match and retain the belts. Ross said the Hardys have to be considered one of the greatest tag teams in history.

WINNERS: Hardys in 17:00. Well, two ways to look at this. Tons of actions and spots and people falling and crashing and burning. Very exciting. At the same time, though, this is exactly why wrestlers are dropping like flies with injuries because of wrestlers taking too many risks in the ring. (***)

They aired a DX DVD promo before Great Khali stood by backstage with Translator Guy. Khali cut a promo in his language, then TG told us that Khali pinned Cena last night, and he would pin Cena again tonight. TG said Khali is winning the belt and returning to his home country for a huge celebration.

Time for the lumberjack match. Chris Benoit came out to the PPV jobber theme music. Val Venis, Santino Marella (without IC Title), Balls Mahoney, Stevie Richards, The Miz, Kevin Thorn, Chris Masters, Johnny Nitro, Chavo Guerrero (without CW Title), Kenny Dykstra (w/ridiculous animal wrap), and Carlito rounded out the list of lumberjacks.

4 -- KANE vs. MARK HENRY -- lumberjack match

Henry was the first one to be knocked out on the floor, and he intimidated the lumberjacks into allowing him back into the ring. Henry went on the offensive back in the ring, landing forearm blows to the back. Kane then ran into a powerslam and Henry made a cover for a nearfall. At 4:00, Kane tried to grip Henry for a chokeslam, but he collapsed to the mat holding his back in pain. "Henry sucks" was the chant from the crowd. Henry then synched in a bearhug center ring. The babyface jacks tried to rally the crowd, with Venis going nuts like a classic babyface jobber. Kane tried to break the hold by choking Henry, but Henry collapsed to the mat and took Kane down with him. Kane suddenly shoved Henry through the ropes and the heel jacks picked up Henry. Kane then went up top and splashed Henry and the heel jacks. Back in the ring, Kane landed a top rope clothesline and teased the chokeslam. He executed the chokeslam this time, but then the heel jacks entered the ring and jumped Kane. Kenny Dykstra took a one-hand chokeslam for good measure, but the distraction allowed Henry to reapply the bearhug. JBL said the match is over, and for the first time in recorded history, an announcer calling the match over actually resulted in a finish, as the referee called for the bell when Kane was unresponsive.

WINNER: Henry in 10:00. A tainted victory for Henry to keep the feud going. The lumberjacks didn't create much movement to distract from the slow match in the ring, which seemed to be their only job on the night. (*1/2)

Backstage, Haas and Shelton were being tended to by a trainer. On the other side of the training room, the Hardys were getting treatment. Both team started arguing because Haas and Benjamin didn't like having to wrestle in a gimmick match when they're used to wrestling matches. Suddenly, a right hand was thrown and a second fight between the two teams broke out. Someone was grunting hard while officials broke up the fight.

5 -- VINCE MCMAHON (w/Shane McMahon and Umaga) vs. BOBBY LASHLEY -- ECW Title match -- Street fight

The bell sounded and Lashley flew over the top rope with an attempted big splash onto Umaga, but he caught his boot on the top rope and didn't quite catch Umaga as he wanted. Lashley seemed to injure himself, so Shane picked up the scraps and landed forearm blows before rolling him back into the ring. Lashley then press slammed Shane over the top rope onto Umaga, but he couldn't get his right arm all the way up. Vince was left in the ring to take a pounding from Lashley. Shane tried to use a chair, but Lashley kicked the chair away. He measured Vince for a running powerslam onto the chair, but Umaga cut him off with a Spike to the throat. Shane then DDT'ed Lashley onto the face of the chair. The heels began working on Lashley, which begged the question of why they don't just call this a three-on-one handicap match re-run. At 3:00, Vince got in his licks before awkwardly kicking Lashley in the gut. On the outside, the heels worked on Lashley and tried to KO him, but Vince only scored a nearfall back in the ring. Vince then speared Lashley while Shane and Umaga held him up, but it was good for a nearfall only. Vince then choked Lashley around the throat. Shane and Vince then stretched out Lashley for Umaga to hit a big splash, but Lashley broke free and pulled Vince in the line of fire to take a huge splash from Umaga. Lashley then made the huge comeback and dumped Shane and Umaga to the floor. Lashley then picked up a chair and cleaned Vince's clock. "That’s a receipt!" Styles screamed. Lashley followed by slamming Vince repeatedly with the chair, with Styles describing what each chair shot was for. He then picked up Lashley and hoisted him up in the air for the Dominator. He had the pin, but Umaga pulled Lashley out of the ring to stop a three count. Lashley then took a thrust kick to the throat from Umaga. With Vince KO'ed in the ring, Umaga landed a big splash on the floor before clearing the ECW announce table. Umaga placed Lashley on the table while Shane climbed up top. He then came off the top with a traditional flying elbow smash, taking himself and Lashley through the table to the floor. Umaga then rolled Lashley into the ring and told Vince to make the cover, but Lashley kicked out just before three.

At 11:00, Umaga entered the ring and landed right hand blows on Lashley. He then built up a head of steam for the charging rear splash and Lashley couldn't get out of the way of the big caboose coming down the tracks. Shane set up his favorite spot by placing a trashcan next to Lashley's head, then he went to the opposite corner for the coast-to-cast, but Lashley moved and Shane dropkicked the can into the bottom turnbuckle. Lashley then measured Shane and gave him a big spear. He followed with a spear on Vince and made the cover to win the ECW Title. After the match, they tried to replay the high points, but cut back to live action when Lashley suddenly speared Vince again.

WINNER: Lashley in 13:00 to capture the ECW Title. They used enough tricks in their bag to prevent any slow points in the match, all building toward the two big moments of Lashley bashing Vince's head in and scoring the pin to capture the ECW Title. (**1/4)

6 -- CANDICE MICHELLE vs. MELINA -- non-title pudding match

Candice dumped Melina into the pudding to start the match, then they brawled to the area outside of the pudding. Candice then speared Melina back into the pool of pudding before they spilled outside of the pool again. Candice then covered Melina on the floor, but Melina kicked out. Back in the pool, Melina applied a headlock, but Candice shoved her away. She then executed a DDT. Candice tried to drown Melina by dumping her face into the pudding, so Melina eventually tapped the pudding, giving Candice the win. Afterward, Maria walked out and interviewed Candice, but Melina threw a fit. Maria then splashed Melina in the pool. They started brawling before they pulled the ref into the ring. Melina escaped, then fell down on the floor. Candice and Maria shared a post-match hug in the pudding.

WINNER: Candice via submission in 3:00. This got old real quick. (n/a)

7 -- EDGE vs. BATISTA -- World Hvt. Title match -- cage match

Edge tried to escape the cage five seconds into the match, but Batista pulled him back into the ring. Edge tried to climb out of the cage, but Batista pulled him back in again. Batista then went on the offensive, working on Edge's back. Batista tried to climb the cage to escape, but Edge took advantage of the mistake by crotching Batista across the top rope before spearing him into the cage. Edge tried to escape through the door, but Batista pulled him back in. Edge then pulled off a top turnbuckle pad and tried to throw Batista into the exposed steel, but Batista blocked. Both men then collapsed to the mat following a mid-ring collision. They fought in the corner, then Batista went for a top rope dive, but Edge met him with a dropkick to the face. Edge then set up for a spear, but Batista charged him and they collided in center ring again. Batista seemed to injure his right arm, as he tried to shake some life into the arm. After a recovery period for both men, Batista speared Edge into the cage and landed a clothesline for a nearfall. Batista then slingshot Edge into the side of the cage and had a pin, but it was good for a two count only.

At 12:00, Edge recovered to his feet with his busted lip on full display. He then side stepped Batista and landed a spear, but it was good for a two count only. Edge pulled himself up in the corner, then started climbing the cage, but Batista picked him up and dropped him with a spinebuster. Batista then tried to give Edge the Batistabomb, but all we got was a shot of Edge's thong, and Edge grabbed the cage wall while up in the air. He tried to slip over the top of the cage, but Batista grabbed him and took a mule kick for good measure. Batista then slipped off the ropes and crotched himself across the top rope. Edge landed on the mat, then he started climbing again. Meanwhile, Batista crawled for the door. He got both hands on the floor, but Edge dropped from the cage and landed on the floor before Batista could actually get both feet on the floor.

After the match, Batista covered his head with his hands. He then heard the announcement and ran after Edge on the other side of the ringside area. Edge bailed, though, and left through the crowd. Batista pounded the announce table, then stared at the title belt that Edge left behind. Batista grabbed the cage in frustration.

WINNER: Edge in 16:00 to retain the World Hvt. Title. Slow 10 minutes, but a very dramatic final five or six minutes. Batista keeps chasing the belt, and Edge picks up a credibility-boosting victory. Batista was either doing a heck of a sell job with the right arm or his arm was messed up on the double spear collision in center ring. (***)

8 -- JOHN CENA vs. GREAT KHALI (w/Translator Guy) -- WWE Title match -- Falls Count Anywhere

Cena tried to chop down the tree with kicks to the back of the leg, but Khali knocked him down with a big headbutt. Khali then rammed Cena head-first into the corner turnbuckle before landing a back elbow smash. Cena tried to build a comeback, but the air surrounding Khali's leg knocked down Cena with a back leg whip. He tried to drop a leg, but Cena rolled out of the way. Cena then went up top, but Khali chopped him off the top rope to the floor next to the Smackdown announce table. Khali then placed a boot on Cena's chest on the floor, but Cena kicked out. Something happened where Cena ended up on the ring steps, but we couldn't see since the camera was too close to the action. Khali then smashed Cena's head into the TV monitor after clearing the announce table. Cena blocked a big chop, but Khali tossed him over the guardrail to the floor. Khali stepped over the guardrail, then landed a right hand blow. Cena fell down on the floor as he tried to crawl away from Khali, who threw him into the production set-up below the 100 level seats. Cena then rammed a monitor into Khali's face and went for the FU, but Khali blocked. They brawled toward the area below the stage, then Cena grabbed the roving camera and rammed it into Khali's forehead. He then lifted up Khali for the FU, but Khali landed an elbow to the chest to block the move. Khali then press slammed Cena onto the base of a crane vehicle. Oh dear. At 9:00, Khali climbed onto the crane, but Cena surprised him with the FU off the floor of the crane vehicle to the concrete floor below. Big crowd pop for the highspot they've been building up for two months. Cena then jumped off the crane and covered Khali on the floor for the win.

WINNER: Cena in 10:00 to retain the WWE Title. From the TNA main event formula of a walking brawl through the crowd and to the stage area. Match reminded me of the Cena vs. JBL "I Quit" match at Judgment Day 2005 with the props used near the stage. They built up to that FU for so long that it was a nice pay off for Cena fans. Could have used a few more minutes out of good faith to Cena and Khali, who both proved they could have a good match last month. (**1/2)

well it was okay. the only good fights were the lumberjack match and the tag team ladder match. the rest of it was meh at best. well that and the RVD orton match, that one was cool too. but cena, pudding, edge. it was all pretty predictable. even the lashley match was lame.

ONS is just a shell of its former self. WWE ONS dosen't come close to the ONS of 2005 and 2006.

weren't the other ones about bringing back old ECW stars and having em fight like hell with anything and everything under hardcore rules? yeah it was. this shit... well it wasn't that. save for the ladder match, the stretcher match, and the lumberjack match. the rest of it was just raw or smackdown material.

hell the only ECW original who showed up was stevie richards and he was just kinda standing there doing nothing.
