Problem is that losing talent in the WWE is becoming too commonplace. Especially when this guy JUST came back. At this rate the only people that will be left are going to be all the ones we complain about always wanting to be on top....and that makes for a very unentertaining product. As if it could be any worse now.

Officials Fear Protest At ECW One Night Stand

One of the main reasons for WWE moving this year’s ECW One Night Stand pay-per-view out of the Hammerstein Ballroom is due to the fact that the brand flopped and this year’s event will be ECW/RAW/SmackDown One night Stand. WWE officials feared that they could potentially face massive embarrassment due to “old school” ECW fans using the event as a protest vehicle. Stephanie McMahon argued in meetings that if Paul Heyman was still with the company, he would find ways to get fans in New York to sabotage the show.

I guess the ECW fans meant what they said about if Cena Wins, We Riot. :buttrock:

Hell, if I was in New York, i'd join that riot! Shit, after they did to ECW, I don't blame the fans one bit! :buttrock:

WWE RAW Results: 3-26-07

The circle is complete
By Noah Starr
March 26, 2007

In front of an excited and enthusiastic capacity crowd of 15,146 in Chicago, the last Raw before WrestleMania emanated from the home of last year’s ‘Mania. Six nights before the biggest event in sports-entertainment rolls into Detroit, WWE fans witnessed partnerships collapse, champions pinned and some Sweet Chin Music that will echo throughout the halls of the Allstate Arena for a long, long time.

After months of tension between World Tag Team Champions and WrestleMania opponents Shawn Michaels & WWE Champion John Cena, HBK stayed true to his promise that any Sweet Chin Music he delivered, Cena would never see coming. The World Tag Team Champions stepped into the ring to face World Heavyweight Champion Batista & Undertaker in a No Way Out Rematch. After The Deadman tossed HBK at The Animal and hung Batista out to dry, it looked like Cena and HBK’s double team would bring them to victory. After the two Superstars delivered a unified five knuckle shuffle, The Showstopper dropped Cena with a powerful kick to the head. After Batista covered Cena to pick up the win, Michaels ended the confrontation with a few quick DX crotch chops. What kind of action awaits WWE fans when Cena and HBK meet on the grandest stage of them all in six short nights?

Another promise was kept as Mr. McMahon lived up to his statement that he would pin ECW World Champion Bobby Lashley when they met in the ring. After Mr. McMahon’s Executive Assistant, Jonathan Coachman, announced that the match would fall under No Disqualification rules and any “unauthorized” interference would result in a fine and suspension, The Chairman got the upper hand by “authorizing” Cade & Murdoch, Chris Masters, Johnny Nitro and even Umaga to attack Lashley. A low blow from Mr. McMahon helped Umaga bring down the ECW World Champion for The Chairman to pin him not once, but twice! Intercontinental Champion Umaga will represent Mr. McMahon against Donald Trump’s representative Bobby Lashley in the first-ever Battle of the Billionaires Match at WrestleMania 23.

Speaking of the Battle of the Billionaires, that match’s special guest referee got the night started on a “stunning” note when he confronted Jonathan Coachman. It seems Coachman had been sending Stone Cold presents marked with Donald Trump’s name. Austin spoke to Coachman in simple terms, “What I say goes… don’t mess with me in this ring.” To further cement his point, The Texas Rattlesnake rocked Coachman with a vicious Stone Cold Stunner followed by a nice cold beer bath!

In the sexiest match of the night, three Playboy cover girls, Torrie Wilson, Candice Michelle & Ashley, teamed to defeat Women’s Champion Melina, Jillian & Victoria. Ashley will face Melina for the Women’s Championship at WrestleMania in an incredible Lumberjill match; can she keep her momentum going and walk out of Detroit with the gold?

It was also a busy night for the competitors in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match, Chicago native CM Punk defeated WWE Magazine’s Jerk of the Month Kenny Dykstra, while Mr. Kennedy & Randy Orton defeated The Hardys. Also, Edge hosted all eight competitors on “The Cutting Edge,” where a fight broke out between them all. Edge tried to jet out of the ring to safety but his seven opponents ended up chasing him out of the arena. Does the Rated-R Superstar have the “edge” heading into this exciting WrestleMania match?

Ric Flair, a Superstar who will no doubt be a member of the WWE Hall of Fame someday, competed against The Great Khali. Just when it looked like the end for the “Nature Boy,” Carlito ran in to help his mentor and friend. Khali made quick work of the Southpaw from San Juan, but wasn’t safe from a hook-wielding Kane who he will face at WrestleMania!

Speaking of the WWE Hall of Fame, Raw announcer Jim Ross was named as the final member of the Class of 2007, and J.R. received a thunderous ovation from the capacity crowd after the announcement.

Matches
Torrie Wilson & Candice Michelle & Ashley def. Women's Champion Melina & Victoria & Jillian
CM Punk def. Kenny Dykstra
Mr. McMahon def. ECW World Champion Bobby Lashley (No Disqualification Match)
Mr. Kennedy & Randy Orton def. The Hardys
The Great Khali def. Ric Flair (DQ)
World Heavyweight Champion Batista & Undertaker def. World Tag Team Champions Shawn Michaels & John Cena

RAW Ratings

PWTorch.com (link to article)

Last night's Raw drew a first hour rating of 3.6 and a second hour rating of 4.0 for a 3.8 average, down a notch from last week.

In key demos, the overall show drew a 3.2 among M18-49 and 3.4 among M 18-34, down 9 and 14 percent respectively.

Up against NCAA tournament basketball, it's no surprise there was a small dip despite it being the crescendo for WrestleMania hype.

Getting ready for "Mane-ia"
By Bryan Robinson
March 27, 2007

Mr. McMahon was smiling like a Cheshire cat on ECW on Sci Fi after he fulfilled his “guaran-damn-tee” to pin ECW World Champion Bobby Lashley on Raw. But Lashley dampened the Chairman’s mood when he showed him that he wouldn’t let his beatdown on Raw cripple his determination to defeat Umaga at WrestleMania 23’s Battle of the Billionaires.

Sure, McMahon had stocked the odds heavily in his favor on Raw – he made the match a no-disqualification contest and employed the services of his Battle of the Billionaires representative to help him get the win and brutalize Lashley.

But, as McMahon emphasized to the ECW World Champion, no one beats him. The Chairman promised Lashley that he and Donald Trump at WrestleMania will join a long list of others who have fallen to his feet.

“I can't wait to see Umaga, the Samoan Bulldozer, stick his thumb down your throat and come down on you from the top rope and go splat, just like he did to you last night [on Raw]," McMahon said. "I can't wait to see the loook of your face when you realize you've let Donald Trump down, that you've let everyone down. And at the end of the night, I, Vincent Kennedy McMahon will still have my head of hair, and your future, Bobby Lashley, will be bleak, very bleak."

Lashley conceded that he did not have much to smile about after the beating he absorbed he on Raw. However, the determined ECW World Champion vowed he would feel better after he defeats Umaga and watches Trump shave McMahon’s head. (WATCH)

"Listen, you old bastard," Lashley said. "At the end of WrestleMania, you're going to be a bald son of a b***tch."

McMahon-Umaga and Trump-Lashley do not have much in common. But the battling billionaires do trust their respective WrestleMania representatives, almost like the trust seen in the members of the ECW Originals and the New Breed.

Balls Mahoney did not fare well against ECW loner, the deranged Snitsky, but fellow ECW Original Rob Van Dam had better luck in his match.

New Breed captain Elijah Burke battled Original counterpart RVD in a last confrontation before the two factions’ fateful Eight-Man Tag Team Match at WrestleMania. The two sides have traded victories before their showdown on April 1 at Ford Field in Detroit. A back-and-forth battle between Burke and RVD ended the Originals' captain pinned his young rival following the Five Star Frog Splash. The New Breed (Marcus Cor Von, Kevin Thorn and Matt Striker) attacked Van Dam after the match but were then chased off by the rest of the ECW Originals, Sabu, Tommy Dreamer and Sandman. (WATCH)

RVD gave his fellow Originals momentum going into WrestleMania. Is this a harbinger of what awaits the New Breed and the Originals in their battle for legacy and future of ECW? Order WrestleMania 23 this Sunday and find out.

Trust is something the participants in WrestleMania 23’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match lacked as they squared off in an Eight-Man Tag Team Match on ECW on Sci Fi. Edge, the winner of the first Money in the Bank match and a favorite in this year’s contest, was teamed with straightedge ECW Superstar CM Punk and Matt and Jeff Hardy against Finlay, King Booker, Randy Orton and Mr. Kennedy. He admitted to his teammates that he disliked them as much as they did him. But he advised them that they should band together to take out some of the members of the other team to increases their odds of victory at Money in the Bank.

Meanwhile, the opposing Money in the Bank team had its own trust issues. Orton and Kennedy would not discuss prematch strategy with Booker and Finlay. Booker was wary of Orton and Kennedy before the match and tried formed a pact with Finlay.

In the end, team Booker, Finlay, Orton & Kennedy defeated Edge, The Hardys & Punk but it was really every man for himself. Edge walked out on his team shortly before the loss. Despite their victory, Booker, Finlay, Orton and Kennedy fought each other after the match. CM Punk, Matt and Jeff Hardy took aim at their victorious opponents. Even The Hardys looked like they were going to come to blows when they scaled the top of a ladder in the middle of the ring after the match.

As this all unfolded, the Rated-R Superstar watched it all from the arena entrance, laughing. This kind of cunning strategy helped Edge win Money in the Bank at WrestleMania 21 and ultimately win the WWE Championship. It could help him repeat history at WrestleMania 23 this Sunday.

Matches

* Rob Van Dam def. Elijah Burke
* Snitsky def. Balls Mahoney
* Mr. Kennedy, King Booker, Finlay & Randy Orton def. CM Punk, Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy & Edge

TNA Impact! Results: 3-29-07

PWTorch.com (direct link to results)

1 -- THE AUSTIN STARR vs. JERRY LYNN vs. SONJAY DUTT vs. ALEX SHELLEY vs. PETEY WILLIAMS vs. SHARK BOY

A bunch of spots in the opening minute. Shelley had a short haircut this week. Lynn then gave everyone a hip toss one after the other. Shark Boy hit the Dead Sea Drop on Shelley for the first elimination. Lynn and Dutt exchanged control, then Lynn hit a cradle piledriver on Dutt for the second elimination. Starr blocked the Dead Sea Drop, then hit a brainbuster for the third elimination. Lynn and Petey double-teamed Starr and Petey begged to hit the Canadian Destroyer. Lynn granted his request and Starr was eliminated following a Destroyer. With Lynn and Petey left, one of them had to escape the cage. Petey and Lynn fought on top of the cage, then Lynn crashed to the floor to win.

After the match, Christopher Daniels jumped Lynn from behind with a baseball bat. Petey knelt over Lynn, then Daniels slowly walked up the entrance ramp.

WINNER: Lynn in 5:00. Four pinfalls in four minutes. It really is a video game with everyone hitting finishing moves with little build up. And no one will care about any of these men after the commercial break. Lynn must hold the record for most multiple-person-X-Division-match victories. (*)

Leticia found Tomko exiting his car after arriving in the building backstage. Christian Cage then found him and tried to get some details on his trip to Japan. Tomko wouldn't answer anything, then Christian received a phone call. Tomko quietly left the scene to walk into the building as Christian continued to talk. Christian ended his phone call, then turned around to discover that Tomko had walked away.

[Commercial Break]

Out of the break, Christian Cage led Scott Steiner and A.J. Styles to the ring. Christian made it official that Steiner is the third member of Team Cage at Lethal Lockdown. Steiner then reminded Christian of the title shot he deserves. Styles didn't like it that Christian was throwing out title shots left and right. Christian then introduced Abyss as the fourth member of Team Cage. James Mitchell led Abyss to the ring, then Christian shook hands with Mitchell. Christian said the team is complete, but Styles interjected that they might do things differently in Canada, but he wants to know who number five is. The fans chanted, "We want Sting," so Christian told them to shut up. He then introduced Tomko as the fifth member. Tomko's music hit, but he didn't walk out. Christian said Tomko must not have heard him, so he introduced Tomko once again. After a lengthy pause, Tomko finally walked out and stood in the ring. Styles jumped up and down, then Christian went for a hug, but Tomko shoved him away. He said Christian's made him a bunch of promises, but they've all turned out to be lies. Tomko said Christian still owes him a title shot and he doesn't care whether Christian has offered Steiner, Styles, or Mitchell a title shot, he wants his shot tonight before he joins Team Cage. Christian snapped that he can't believe how selfish Tomko is for putting himself ahead of the team. He screamed that he is a man of his word, but Tomko wouldn't get his title shot until after they beat Team Angle at Lockdown. Kurt Angle's music then interrupted.

Angle walked out with Samoa Joe and Rhino, then they stood on the entrance ramp. Angle told Tomko that what Christian is trying to say is that he won't get his title shot. Angle told Tomko that Christian is a liar, so he should join Team Angle to beat down Christian. Jim Cornette then interrupted and said he's tired of the debate and soap opera. He said they're going to settle the issue in the ring, with one member of each team facing off to win Tomko's services. Christian didn't like that and tried to interrupt, but Tomko cut him off and told him to shut up. Cornette then presented two contracts for whichever team wins his services. He said Tomko would get his title shot if he signs the deal. Tomko smiled and took the contracts with him. Angle smiled and Christian looked concerned.

[Commercial Break]

We saw a video package on LAX vs. Team 3D. Konnan said they set the rules now because they've beaten Team 3D at their matches. Ray talked about legacy as they flashed pictures of legendary tag teams such as the Andersons, Road Warriors, and Funks.

Backstage, Borash interviewed Kurt Angle as Joe and Rhino stood behind him. Angle said he wanted to take the match tonight for Tomko's services because he could handle the job. Joe's facial expressions told us he wasn't happy with Angle front-running. Angle said Abyss and Sting were supposed to be his fourth and fifth members, but that's fallen through. He said number four would be revealed tonight. Borash asked about number five, but Angle said some things are better left unsaid. He walked off. Joe watched him walk off with a look of annoyance on his face.

[Commercial Break]

Eric Young walked out for a match and did the deal where he tried to cover his ears before his pyro went off. Of course, he mistimed it and jumped through the roof when his pyro went off.

2 -- ERIC YOUNG vs. JAMES STORM (w/Jackie Moore)

West and Tenay speculated on who Young's friend is. West held to his theory that it's Petey Williams based on their Team Canada days. Storm worked on Young's head in the opening minute, then Young fired back with a clothesline and belly-to-belly suplex for a nearfall. Young went up top, but Jackie shoved him off the top right into a superkick from Storm for the win.

WINNER: Storm in 2:00. (1/2*)

After the match, The Pirate Chris Harris and Gail Kim tried to hit the ring to jump Storm, but security immediately hit the ring to separate them. Harris then jumped over security and nailed Storm with a left hand blow. They fought to the outside, then Harris and Storm battled to the back like usual. Robert Roode then came to the ring with Ms. Brooks. He said Young is a disgrace to wrestling. Young threatened to hit Roode, but Roode reminded him that he would be fired. Tenay told us the consequences are that Young would never be able to wrestle in TNA anymore if he gets himself fired from Roode Inc. Roode then said Young has no friends, at which point Petey Williams made the save. He went for the Canadian Destroyer, but Roode bailed.

Backstage, Styles and Steiner argued around Christian while Leticia held the mic. Christian quieted everyone down, then said Tomko is nothing without him. He wanted volunteers to face Angle, but no one budged. Christian said he couldn't risk injury because then he couldn't sell tickets. Well, considering they don't even sell tickets to TV, that's not much of a problem. Steiner retorted that his arms sell tickets. Styles said his hood sells tickets. Christian cut him off and said he looks like an idiot. Christian then asked for a voice of reason and looked toward James Mitchell, who was standing in the background. He said Abyss is the man because he's only good for handling dirty work. Mitchell said that if Abyss doesn’t do what he says, the authorities are only a phone call away. Abyss stood up and grunted, but Mitchell quickly cut him off. Abyss then sat down and grabbed his hair in deep frustration. Boy, if only the criminal justice system worked like TNA where murderers aren’t allowed to be discovered until someone decides to make a phone call after blabbing about it on national television.

[Commercial Break]

Tenay and West did a split-screen interview with Christy Hemme on one side and B.G. & Kip James & Lance Hoyt on the other side. Tenay said Christy's team didn't win at the last PPV, then he asked Christy what else she has in mind. Christy said she's going to continue battling in the war. Kip then said Christy is wasting their time when they should be going after the NWA Tag Titles. He said Christy needs to stop while she still has one shred of dignity left. Christy said Kip can't take her dignity away. Kip retorted that he's pissed off now and she's going to get hurt sooner or later like a wrestler. Christy answered that she would have a new team ready at Lockdown. Kip stormed off the interview set, then B.G. and Hoyt followed their leader.

Tomko came to ringside with both contracts in hand to get a closer look at the main event.

3 -- ABYSS (w/James Mitchell) vs. KURT ANGLE

Angle worked on Abyss's ankle early on, then went for a takedown, but Abyss nailed him with a clothesline. Angle played opossum, then dropped Abyss with the anklelock, but Abyss grabbed the bottom rope. Christian Cage then came to ringside and yelled at Abyss before they cut to a break.

[Commercial Break]

Out of the break, Abyss scored with a high vertical suplex for a nearfall. Angle ducked two clotheslines, then Angle went for a German suplex, but he barely could get Abyss off the ground. He then went for the Olympic Slam, but Abyss shoved him to the ropes. Abyss then went for the Shock Treatment, but Angle rolled through into an ankle lock attempt. Christian encouraged Abyss to break the hold, but Angle kept the hold locked in. Abyss finally escaped and flipped Angle right into the referee Earl Hebner, who bumped to the outside. Abyss then hit the Black Hole Slam on Angle and a new ref hit the ring to count a nearfall. Abyss went for a chokeslam, but Angle rolled through and scored a pinfall to win.

WINNER: Angle in 8:00. Crowd was surprisingly quiet for this match. They seem to recognize that Angle is just another guy on the TV show these days. Basic wrestling match comparable to the "main event" of the first hour of Smackdown . (*1/4)

After the match, Tomko picked up the Team Angle contract and entered the ring. He raised Angle's arm, then Angle turned to pose for the camera. Tomko then smashed the contract over Angle's head and stomped on Angle. Christian then entered the ring with the Team Cage contract and Tomko signed Christian's deal. Rhino tried to even things up, but A.J. Styles joined Team Christian. Samoa Joe made the save, but Scott Steiner hit the ring to make it a five-on-three beating. Steiner gave Joe a belly-to-belly suplex, then Christian's music hit and Team Cage stood tall in the ring. Our weekly exercise in undermining Jim Cornette's authority has been completed.

Top TNA Star To Retire?, Backstage Notes & News Inside

Sting discussed the possibility of his retirement on TNA’s website this week. Sting said, "Last year, I said 2006 probably would be my last year, my last hurrah in wrestling. But then (TNA President) Dixie (Carter) started talking to me about 2007, as well as other TNA executives. So I figured I’d go another year. But, after 2007, I can’t make any promises. I have a feeling this, 2007, will be it. I’m not a commentator or manager type. Not in my blood. Wrestling is the only thing in my blood.” On a side note, WrestleZone.com is reporting that Sting has been telling people backstage that he plans to retire after 2007.

Things can change from now until that point in time where he makes his decision. So this could go either way, you never know until it’s made official.

Dixie Carter had meetings with the Bravo Network, which broadcasts TNA iMPACT! In London. They also had a meeting for possible live events to take place in Great Britain.

WWE Smackdown Results: 3-30-07

Next stop: Detroit
By Lennie DiFino
March 30, 2007
The Road to WrestleMania made its final stop on SmackDown, two days away from the biggest WWE event of the year - WrestleMania 23.

Just 48 hours before their epic encounter this Sunday in Detroit the World Heavyweight Champion Batista and Undertaker were face-to-face in the ring. General Manager Theodore Long tried his best to maintain order during the “biggest interview in sports-entertainment history”, but the tension that has been building between The Animal and The Phenom exploded in front of WWE fans in Grand Rapids, Mich. – erupting into a brawl between the champion and the challenger to his title.

As much as security and officials tried, they could not stop the intense fight between the two men. Batista looked to gain an edge heading into WrestleMania, as he delivered a Spinebuster to Undertaker. The Deadman rose up as the confrontation between these two men has gone past the point of tension, steamrolling right into a violent conflict. Sunday, Undertaker puts his undefeated WrestleMania streak on the line against Batista’s World Heavyweight Championship when these two men collide for the richest prize in the business.

As Michael Cole stated, “the man who will special guest referee the Battle of the Billionaires at WrestleMania does what he wants, when he wants. Stone Cold is the law.”
As JBL found out, and as the dueling Billionaires may find out on Sunday, The Rattlesnake can strike when he feels like it. At WrestleMania, nobody is safe from Stone Cold or the Stunner – not Mr. McMahon, Umaga, or even Donald Trump.

Also on SmackDown, the eight men in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match at WrestleMania were scheduled to be in action, but former Money in the Bank winner Edge refused to compete against Matt Hardy, instead introducing his replacement – The Great Khali.

Khali looked to disassemble Matt Hardy, but he was distracted when Kane’s music sounded. The Big Red Monster’s sinister laugh filled the arena, and he warned, “Khali – two days”. These two behemoths will square off this Sunday at WrestleMania 23, and both are looking to lay claim to being the monster of WWE.

While Edge avoided competition, CM Punk made the most of his opportunity when he defeated and shocked King Booker in an upset victory. The straightedge Superstar will look to score another upset this Sunday at WrestleMania.

In a Raw rematch, Jeff Hardy and Randy Orton went one-on-one, with each man looking for any advantage heading into Sunday. Orton is looking to regain the form he had when he became the youngest World Champion in WWE history, and Hardy is aiming to get to the top of WWE.

Orton was poised for the victory until his so-called friend Edge interfered, allowing Hardy to get the victory. If Orton is to be successful at WrestleMania this Sunday, he will, as Michael Cole said, “need to get Edge out of his head.”

Another SmackDown Superstar who gained momentum heading into WrestleMania’s Money in the Bank was Finlay. The Irishman defeated Mr. Kennedy in singles competition, but not before Hornswoggle delivered an unforgettable “Lepre-ton Bomb” to Kennedy. Who will ascend the ladder this Sunday at WrestleMania and become money in the bank?

MVP’s final match before WrestleMania was against Ethiopian Champion – Viko Batomango. MVP took the opportunity during this match to mock Chris Benoit’s trademark suplexes before picking up the victory. In preparation for his match against Benoit for the United States Championship, Porter has faced competition that some would say is less than spectacular. Will the cocky Superstar be hurt by this approach?

Sunday in Ford Field, will MVP’s laid back approach to this match hurt him against the Rabid Wolverine or will he be “ballin’” his way to gold?

Ashley, Torrie Wilson, Candice Michelle, Maria & Mickie James defeated Women’s Champion Melina, Kristal, Jillian, Michelle McCool & Victoria in the first ever 5-on-5 Diva Match in SmackDown history. Ashley challenges Melina for the championship Sunday at WrestleMania, and the ring will be surrounded by Divas in a Lumberjill Match. Will Ashley end Melina’s reign or will the jealousy of the Women’s Champion propel her to victory?

Matches
Matt Hardy vs. The Great Khali (No Contest)
Jeff Hardy def. Randy Orton
Finlay def. Mr. Kennedy
Ashley, Maria, Mickie James, Candice Michelle & Torrie Wilson def. Women's Champion Melina, Michelle McCool, Kristal, Jillian & Victoria
MVP def. Viko Batomango
CM Punk def. King Booker

RVD To TNA Update, Shane Douglas' Personal Issues

WrestleZone.com is reporting that TNA officials are said to be very interested in signing Rob Van Dam to a deal if he allows his current deal with WWE to expire and not renew.

Shane Douglas did not attend recent TNA TV and PPV tapings in Orlando. Many TNA wrestlers are hopeful that he is dealing with what have become some very obvious personal issues.

Either that or read the real-time results here. You still save the $50 it costs for the PPV ;)

That's understandable. If I had the means to do so, I'd want to watch it live myself. In about a half-hour or so, you may want to avoid this thread if you don't want the spoilers.

WWE Wrestlemania 23 Results: 4-1-07

1 -- MONEY IN THE BANK LADDER MATCH: Edge vs. Mr. Kennedy vs. Randy Orton vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Matt Hardy vs. Finlay vs. King Booker (w/Sharmell) vs. C.M. Punk

Order of entrance: Jeff, Booker, Finlay, Punk, Kennedy, Matt, Orton, Edge. When Kennedy stepped onto the stage, he reached up and down came a mic on a cable. He introduced himself from the stage. Finlay dove onto a crowd of everyone but Edge on the floor. Edge went for a quick win by climbing the ladder, but Matt cut him off. There were several more attempts at climbing early. Booker went for a ladder under the ring, but he pulled out the mini-ladder. He got bug-eyed and frustrated. Punk used it as a weapon. Edge then hit Punk with it, who came up bleeding. Punk suplexed Edge onto the mat in retaliation. Booker did the Spinarooni at 5:00. Matt and Jeff set up a faceplant on Edge on two ladder in the ring, but Finlay knocked Jeff off the top rope. Kennedy missed a Kenton Bomb attempt on Matt and landed on the ladder. Hardy hit a Swanton on Kennedy.

All six announcers took turns talking. Matt and Jeff held a ladder together and rammed it into various wrestlers. JBL predicted they'd turn on each other. Thhey both climbed the ladder. Jeff punched Matt; mattt fired back. Finlay knocked them both off the ladder over the top rope. Edge speared severyone except for Punk, who leapfrogg3ed him to avoid it at 8:00. Punk then helicoptered the ladder into everyone. Edge speared Punk and the way Punk's neck crunched, it might have been the most dangerous spot of the match so far. Edge climbed the giant ladder, but Orton tipped it over and Edge spilled all the way to ringside. Jeff face-planted Orton at 10:00. With the giant ladder stretched over the ring apron and ring barrier, Jeff dove off of another giant ladder with a butt splash onto Edge. The ladder broke in half and they landed with a thud.

After two excellent replays, paramedics came to ringside and tended to both of them. Edge was tenderly moved onto a back brace and he looked convincingly to be in rough shape. Orton surprised Matt with an RKO. he followed with RKOs on Finlay and Kennedy. Orton found a ladder and began climbing it. He reached up stupidly after two rungs when he was still sevferal feet away. That gave Punk a chance to hit him from behind. Edge was wheeled to the back. Orton gave Punk an RKO off of a ladder. Tazz said to bring the back brace back. Orton set up an RKO on Booker off the ropes, but Booker turned it into a Book End. Booker climbed the ladder. Matt met him on the other side. Sharmell entered the ring and yanked on Matt's leg. Ross pointed out it was a no DQ match. As Booker reached for the ladder, Matt threatened to DDT Sharmell. Booker chivalrously made the save rather than win the match. Matt climbed the ladder. Finlay tipped his ladder over. Finlay was sporting a big gash on the top of his head. Finlay, with a smile, gave a Keltic Cross to Hardy on the ladder.

Finlay set up two ladders in mid-ring next to each other. Hornswaggle ran into the ring and began climbing the ladder. When he got to the top, he still couldn't reach the ladder. Kennedy climbed the other ladder. Hornswaggle slapped Kennedy twice. Kennedy took a deep breath, then lifted him onto his shoulders and gave him his signature flip off the ladder onto the mat. As Finlay climbed the ladder, Punk dropkicked the ladder to knock Finlay down. Punk climbed to the top and touched the ladder, but Kennedy then met him at the top. A ref slipped another ladder into the ring. He grabbed the ladder with one hand, but Punk shoved him to the mat. Punk then grabbed the ladder, but Kennedy rammed Punk to the floor with a ladder (the one the ref just slipped into the ring). Kennedy climbed the ladder and grabbed the briefcase.

WINNER: Kennedy in 20:00.

STAR RATING: ****1/4 -- Just crazy mad insanity with tons of big spots. They got the injured Edge out of there early, but may have injured him in the process of getting him quickly out of the match.

2 -- KANE vs. THE GREAT KHALI

Smart placement of this match since nothing could follow the MITB match other than the complete opposite style match. Khali out-muscled Kane to the mat in the opening minute. Ross and Lawler called this match because, apparently, Khali is officially a Raw wrestler and they got by height or something when picking announcers. After a Khali nerve hold, they exchanged some punches. Kane tied Khali into the ropes, then grabbed his chain and hook. Kane hooked the chain on the top rope, then yanked the chain between Khali's legs. Kane went for a cover, but Khali power-kicked out. They took turns trying to chokeslam each other. Khali used two arms to lift and slam Kane to the mat. Khali then stood on Kane's chest and got the clean pin. Afterward, Khali choked Kane with his own chain, then left.

WINNER: Khali in 5:00.

STAR RATING: 1/2* -- You know, it wasn't horrible. They wrestled within their skillset. There is hope for Batista after all.

3 -- CHRIS BENOIT vs. MVP -- U.S. Title Match

After some nice early wrestling exchanges with Benoit, Cole said he didn't know MVP had that in him. Benoit hit three German suplexes at 4:00. MVP executed a superplex off the top rope at 5:00, but Benoit turned it into a small package for a near fall. MVP then threw Benoit shoulder-first into the ringpost. Cole said that could limit Benoit being able to apply his submission holds later. Benoit slipped on a Crossface, but couldn't get a solid grip because of his shoulder being damaged. MVP then danced and dropped an elbow and cradled Benoit for a near fall. Benoit came back with a series of unreleased back suplexes. Then he connected with a top rope headbutt and scored the clean pin.

WINNER: Benoit in 9:00.

STAR RATING: **1/2 -- Good match. MVP showed he can look "in place" in a serious match against someone of Benoit's caliber.

Meanwhile...

-Backstage, Donald Trump was on a cell phone and he said Vince McMahon is a bad man because he wasn't catered to. He was sitting next to a former Miss USA. Boogeyman's music played and the lights turned red. Boogeyman showed up behind Trump. The Miss USA lady ran away. Trump no-sold it, like he sees that sort of thing every day. He ordered a sandwich. Boogeyman laughed and said he would. He said if Boogeyman brings him a sandwich, he'll bring him some worms. Now if Trump wanted to prove he was really game, he'd have bitten into a worm sandwich.

-Hall of Fame ceremony highlights aired. Jerry Lawler said he was backstage with William Shatner and the no. 1 topic of conversation was Viagra.

-Lilian Garcia announced the official attendance was 80,103, which if accurate, beats the real attendance (78,000) for WrestleMania 3. She then introduced Howard Finkle, who then introduced the 2007 Hall of Fame Class. It would have been really funny if Mr. Fuji threw salt in the eyes of the person pushing his wheelchair.
