1 -- GREGORY HELMS vs. MATT HARDY

After a "feeling out process" in the opening two minutes, Hardy got in some big spots including a dive over the top rope. Helms went on sustained offense startiing at 5:00. He settled into a chinlock at one point. At 7:00 the exchanged punches mid-ring. Hardy took control with several clotheslines and a running bulldog for a two count which got a nice pop from the crowd. Helms took control afterward and scored two near falls at 10:00. Hardy punched Helms as he dove off the top rope and then hit a Side Effect for at two count at 11:00. He hit a second Side Effect for another two count. He followed with a top rope moonsault, but Helms lifted his knees. Hardy ducked a shining wizard and schoolboyed Helms for a two count. Helms quickly kicked Hardy in the head and scored a two count. JBL called this a defining moment in their career and said they have more at stake in this match than they ever have in their career, adding that pride was all that was on the line, but to them that meant everything. Helms yanked Hardy off the top rope; Hardy crotched the top rope. Helms then dove off the top rope with a shining wizard for a near fall, but Hardy draped his left leg over the bottom rope. Hardy blocked a Helms kick and then surprised him with a Twist of Fate for the clean pin. JBL said, "Somebody call the sheriff. These two guys just stole Raleigh, North Carolina."

WINNER: Hardy in 13:00.

STAR RATING: **1/2 -- JBL's praise was overblown. Nice match for sure, but almost to typical for these two, who have been a bit overexposed against each other lately. They're almost too alike in style to have a match that really stands out.

2 -- BRIAN KENDRICK & PAUL LONDON (w/Ashley) vs. IDOL STEVENS & K.C. JAMES (w/Michelle McCool) -- WWE Tag Team Title match

London opened with a sweet head scissors takeover on Stevens, then he and Kendrick hit him with stereo roundhouse kicks. JBL compared them to "a young Edge & Christian, a young Matt and Jeff Hardy, a young Steve and Scott Simpson." Wow, that was mean. The Simpsons, from the late World Class era, were not a standout team for their era. That was an "obscure wrestling reference" on a WWE PPV if I've ever heard one. After clearing the ring, London and Kendrick leaped into the air and clapped their feet together. JBL asked what that was all about. They dove onto the heels on either side of the ring. At 3:00, when London went to the top rope, McCool distracted him as James shoved him to the floor. That gave the heels a chance at offense. Stevens, wanting to impress the fans with his offense, went right into a side headlock. London went for a sunset flip, but Stevens broke it in a creative fashion by pounding on one of his hand and spinning out of it, then tagging in James. James immediately settled into a chinlock with a knee to the back, then a backbreaker for a two count. At 7:00, Kendrick got the hot tag and went on a flurry of offense for a minute. London dove through the ropes onto James at ringside when he tried to interfere. Kendrick avoided a two-on-one attack in the ring a minute later and planted James with a DDT. McCool draped James's leg over the bottom rope to break up the count. Stevens blindsided Kendrick with a backbreaker for a near fall. Ashley attacked McCool at ringside. London blocked a double suplex by the heels on Kendrick, then propelled Kendrick into a dropkick on both heels. He followed with slided bread and London hit a moonsault in mid-ring for the pin.

WINNERS: Kendrick & London in 10:00 to retain the WWE Tag Team Titles.

STAR RATING: **3/4

3 -- MVP vs. MARTY GARNER

MVP came out first. Cole said nobody knows whom he's scheduled to face. MVP dressed in what looked like a blue scuba outfit adorned with more jewels than a Bobby Heenan jacket. MVP gave a brief cocky prematch statement, then his opponent, Marty Garner walked out. JBL and Cole bemoaned Garner as a weak mystery opponent for MVP. JBL said Garner is so skinny, he has to run around in a shower to get wet. Cue Jim Cornette's line about treading water in a garden hose. MVP slapped Garner to open the match, then did squats at 1:00. The crowd chanted boring. Cole acknowledged it. JBL said MVP talks trash, but hasn't accomplished anything yet. JBL said MVP's outfit was "blueberry bling" and looked like a costume from Battlestar Galactica. The crowd chanted "Power Ranger" at him. JBL said Garner has the body of a hunger strike victim. MVP finished Garner with his finisher after showing very little to set him apart, but they've set him up well as a mid-card house show act for fans to jeer. JBL said he takes personal offense at him walking around like he is a world champion. Cole said MVP has a big fat contract and will be on Smackdown for a long time to come. JBL said he can't believe he outnegotiated Teddy Long.

WINNER: MVP in 3:00.

STAR RATING: 1/2*

Wardrobe malfunction?!!

-They went backstage to William Regal stepped out of a shower. He was wrapping his towel around his waist, but his penis was shown in full view for a second, which is a PPV first and will surely get them complaint calls and emails, especially from parents. There was no reason for that segment to be live, so it was probably pretaped and they probably had full knowledge of that brief but clear shot. Vito walked into the room and revealed himself to Regael and laughed at him, and asked Regal if he was shortchanged. Vito bragged about his size. Regal asked if his father was a donkey. scurried out of the locker room, with his bare ass in full view. Long scolded him as women ran away from him. Long told him to cover himself. He told him to put his gear on because he had him booked in a match. What was he doing showering in the first place if he hadn't already wrestled?

4 -- UNDERTAKER vs. MR. KENNEDY

Taker caught Kennedy with a big boot in the opening minute. Kennedy bailed out a minute later to regroup, but Taker followed him and threw him back into the ring. A minute later, Taker rammed Kennedy's shoulder into the ringpost. JBL said when he faced Taker, he merely survived. JBL said if Taker cared about championships, he'd have more than four reigns, but he "cares about causes." Kennedy favored his left shoulder as they returned to the ring. Taker climbed to the top rope, but Kennedy yanked him to the mat. Kennedy removed a turnbuckle pad. Taker dove at Kennedy with a boot in the corner, but Kennedy moved, then he knocked Taker to the floor. Kennedy stomped on Taker on the floor. He leaped off the apron at Taker, but Taker caught him and then rammed him back-first into the ringpost. Back in the ring, Kennedy went on sustained offense for two minutes. Taker fought back at 15:00 and clotheslined Kennedy over the top rope to the floor. Kennedy legdropped Kennedy off the ring apron guillotine style. As Taker returned to the ring, Kennedy kicked him in the gut and gave him a piledriver, which Cole called a Tombstone Piledriver even though it was a standard piledriver. He scored a two count. Taker powered out. Kennedy tried again. Taker again powered out. Kennedy settled into a choke sleeper at 17:00. Kennedy back suplexed Kennedy, but Kennedy was the first to his feet. Kennedy threw some punches. Taker punched back. JBL told Kennedy not to try to match fists with the Dead Man. Taker then hit a flying clothesline, followed by two running clotheslines in the corner. He followed with snake eyes and a big boot followed by a legdrop for a near fall. He set up a chokeslam, but Kennedy grabbed the referee. Kennedy then surprised Taker with a neckbreaker for a two count. JBL praised Kennedy for going move-for-move with Undertaker. Taker ducked an enzuigiri. Taker then chokeslammed him and set up a Last Ride. Kennedy powered out, but almost ran into the ref. Kennedy ran up behind Taker and rammed his head into the exposed turnbuckle. He followed with a clothesline and then went to the top rope. He flew off with a senton bomb for a near fall at 22:00. Taker then sat up. An intimidated Kennedy bailed out to ringside and grabbed his U.S. Title belt to use as a weapon. The ref yanked at it, so Taker hit a distracted Kennedy. Taker then grabbed the belt, looked at it, and KO'd Kennedy with it, prompting the DQ. Taker gave Kennedy a Tombstone, then did the same to ref Charles Robinson.

WINNER: Kennedy in 23:00.

STAR RATING: **1/2 -- It dragged at times, but at other points it was dramatic and well done. Above-average, and it achieved it's purpose of showing Kennedy could hold his own against Taker. The finish wasn't entirely unpredictable since they weren't going to beat Taker, but if Kennedy lost it defeated the purpose of the match.

5 -- REY MYSTERIO vs. CHAVO GUERRERO (w/Vickie Guerrero) - Falls Count Anywhere

Fast paced opening minutes. They exchanged punches on the top rope, and both knocked each other to the floor. Chavo took control as they brawled up the rampway. Rey swung himself from the entrance and kicked Chavo. He beat up Chavo as they worked their way back toward the ring. They detoured up the steps through the crowd. Rey dove off the lower deck blecaher railing onto Chavo to score the pin. Vickie tended to Chavo afterward.

WINNER: Rey in 13:00.

STAR RATING: **1/2 -- Just a stand up brawl right of Jeff Jarrett's "shortcut/taking the night off" handbook. The finishing dive by Rey didn't look good, as Chavo caught him and rolled backward without any force. They replayed it twice, which only accentuated the soft fall. Overall, it was fine as it fit the intensity of the feud and WWE doesn't do matches like that all that often.

6 -- WILLIAM REGAL vs. CHRIS BENOIT

Regal's surprise opponent was Benoit.!!!

6 -- WILLIAM REGAL vs. CHRIS BENOIT

Regal's surprise opponent was Benoit. Cole said Benoit took an extended sabbatical, and is now wrestling his first match in five months. Good move by WWE having Benoit return on PPV rather than on free TV. It's a reward for those who paid for this show to give them something extra, besides a lapdance by a fat guy in a g-string, Regal's penis and ass, and Vito in bikini briefs, of course. After some mat exchanges in the opening minutes, Benoit headbutted out of a Regal armbar, hit a German suplex, and then hit a top rope headbitt. Regal elbowed out of a back suplex attempt by Benoit off the apron, then dropped down and drove Benoit's face into the ring apron. Regal bled from the forehead from the headbutts. Benoit attempted a comeback, but Regal remained in control and applied an abdominal stretch. Benoit backed Regal into the corner and chopped Regal hard across his reddened chest. Regal came back with a couple overhead suplexes and a kneedrop, which JBL said reminded him of Bruiser Brody. He said, "These two broke in when it wasn't about the chicks, it wasn't about TV. It was about winning and losing. This is what is good about this business." He said this is the best he's seen Regal work. Regal controlled the next two minutes, but Benoit escaped a full nelson attempt by Regal and then slipped on a Crippler Crossface, after resistant from Regal, and Regal tapped out a few seconds later.

WINNER: Benoit in 10:00.

STAR RATING: ***1/4 -- Best match of the night. Surprisingly, the reaction for Benoit wasn't great. Part of the problem is that Regal has been so demeaned and discredited, that I think fans thought it was a letdown that he hung with Benoit like he did for ten minutes. That felt more real and more intense than anything yet on the show, and clearly these two are in a class above everyone else on the show in terms of brutal mat wrestling and just making it look like it hurts. If Regal had credibility and if something was at stake and if they gave them 20 minutes instead of 10, that type of match easily would reach four stars.

7 -- KING BOOKER vs. BOBBY LASHLEY vs. BATISTA vs. FINLAY -- World Hvt. Title match

Fatal Four-way, so all four are allowed in the ring at once. JBL predicted some day Lashley will be the biggest star on Smackdown, and the question is whether it will be tonight. The match began at 10:20 p.m. ET. Finlay and Booker cornered Batista. Lashley made the save and tossed Finlay out of the ring. Lashley gave Booker an early spinebuster. Booker and Finlay isolated Batista in the ring after knocked Lashley to the floor. Finlay, though, surprised Booker with a clothesline at 5:00, then knocked Batista to the floor and shoulder-first into the ring steps. Finlay returned to the ring and went after Booker. Finlay gave Batista a Samoan drop, but Finlay turned it right into an armbar. Lashley returned to the ring and attacked Finlay. Finlay maneuvered Lashley into a half Boston crab. King Booker kicked Finlay to break that hold at 8:00. Batista broke up his pin attempt on Finlay. Booker nailed Batista with a leg lariat at 9:00. Lashley backdropped Batista over the top rope onto Booker at 11:00 as Batista charged him. Finlay brought a chair into the ring, but Lashley knocked the chair away and went on a flurry of offense against Finlay, including a military press into a gutbuster. Finlay's "little buddy" snuck out and low-blowed Lashley from behind. Booker broke up the pin attempt by Finlay and covered Lashley himself. Lashley kicked out. Batista returned to the ring and beat up Booker. He hit a jackhammer, but Finlay jumped in to stop the cover. Batista cleared the ring of Finlay, leaving Lashley and Batista. Batista speared Lashley for a two count. Batista drove his shoulder into Lashley's gut, then lifted him for a bodyslam. Lashley escaped and sidewalk slammed Batista. The ref checked on Batista, who suddenly was bleeding pretty heavily from the top of his skull. Lashley nailed Batista with a clothesline in the corner, then overhead suplexed him and clotheslined him over the top rope. When Finlay entered the ring, Lashley threw him out. Booker then surprised Lashley with a Book End at 15:00. After two minutes of brawling, Batista returned to the ring and cleaned house. He shook the ropes and signalled for the Batistabomb. He gave it to Finlay, but Lashley immediately speared him. Booker crawled over and covered Finlay for the win.

WINNER: King Booker in 17:00 to retain the World Hvt. Title.

STAR RATING: ***3/4 -- Nonstop action with a lot of high-impact moves. They played off of each other really well and got in a lot of their signature spots for dramatic pin attempts and well-timed saves. Not a must-see match, but a satisfying PPV main event.

I heard about that and am SO glad I didn't order this PPV, lol.

BTW, whats up with them calling the Regal/Benoit the best match of the night when the ME got a higher rating? (***1/4 vs. ***3/4... the latter is higher and was given to the Main Event)

WWE apologizes
Oct. 9, 2006

World Wrestling Entertainment would like to apologize to anyone who watched WWE No Mercy and was offended by the William Regal locker room incident. Conduct of this kind is unacceptable in a family-friendly environment, and WWE accepts full responsibility. Nudity of any kind, even in a live television environment, is offensive to our audience and to the reputation of our company.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry at that statement. I'll just slowly shake my head instead... :oh_no:

Was mighty surprised myself seeing Money Inc and two of the 4 Horsemen(Flair and Anderson) together. That truly was a great moment in wrestling seeing those guys all together in the ring. Piper too.

That 4 Horsemen tune still sounds pretty good after all these years. I still like the original better, though.

Cyber Sunday Blockbuster

By Zack Zeigler
October 9, 2006

The action packed, three hour season premiere of RAW kicked off with a monstrous pyrotechnics display and a brand new theme song… but there was also something else. Something so colossal that’s never before happened in WWE: the champions from all three brands stood in one ring at the same time.

RAW’s WWE Champion John Cena, ECW World Champion Big Show and SmackDown’s World Heavyweight Champion King Booker were face to face to argue who the most dominant champion in sports-entertainment actually is… but by the evening’s end, the time and place to where that question would be answered was decided on. Mr. McMahon, in his first appearance on WWE Television since Unforgiven, emerged to declare that the main event for Cyber Sunday would bring the speculation to an end.

“What would happen if we had the ECW Champion, the WWE Champion and the World Heavyweight Champion in one match? What if all three champions were represented in a Triple Threat Match to determine once and for all who would be the Champion of Champions? I have a date, say Nov. 5 — Cyber Sunday,” stated the Chairman with a devious smile.

And with that, the main event for Cyber Sunday was set. Who will walk out of Cyber Sunday with the ultimate bragging rights? Which Champion will elevate his legacy by becoming the foremost champion in sports-entertainment?

With that blockbuster announcement shaking the foundation of RAW during its Family Reunion, perhaps nobody could explain the type of environment all three brands create better than one of RAW’s newest Superstars, Super Crazy. Not known for his verbal skills, the former ECW Extremist and SmackDown Superstar surprised WWE fans as well as ECW representative Paul Heyman, SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long and Mr. McMahon’s Executive Assistant Jonathan Coachman when he said, “Actually, all three [brands] offer, drama, action, suspense; three amazing shows for all [WWE] fans to enjoy.”

Mr. McMahon couldn’t have put it any better himself.

The way the Cyber Sunday announcement unfolded stemmed from the champions’ conflicting views – which eventually evolved into trading blows – and also the bickering of the three brands’ representatives, Coachman, Long and Heyman. So, in an attempt to find an answer to the hanging question of the most powerful champion, they made matches for all three champions to compete on RAW.

Coachman chose RAW’s Intercontinental Champion Jeff Hardy to take on Big Show; Heyman chose King Booker to go head to head with ECW Original Rob Van Dam; and Long chose SmackDown’s Undertaker to take on Cena.

In Big Show’s match with Hardy, the ECW champion proved his dominance by staying in control for most of the match. Hardy showed his toughness by standing toe to toe with the Extreme Giant, but he was never able to overcome the huge weight and power disadvantage Big Show held over him. After an arena shaking Showstopper, Big Show was able to get the cover and the win.

After the match, former Intercontinental Champion Johnny Nitro tried to extend the beating on Hardy, but with a chance to put an exclamation point on his dominance, the Extreme Giant re-entered the ring and tossed Nitro aside like a rag doll.

In King Booker’s match, he looked fresh as he took on RVD even though the King was involved in a Fatal Four Way at No Mercy. In a physical match that saw the former “Mr. Monday Night” compete like he’d never left RAW, King Booker was able to utilize the assistance of Queen Sharmell to propel himself to victory. Regardless of how he won, the King reigned supreme and – perhaps for the first time – made SmackDown GM Long proud.

Undertaker was coming off a fierce match with Mr. Kennedy at No Mercy, but the Deadman showed no signs of being worn. At first, Cena tried to enter a slugfest with Undertaker — which proved to be a horrible idea for The Champ. Then, Cena switched to rely on his quickness and athleticism to battle the 16-year veteran. The two battled back and forth and just as Undertaker delivered a vicious Chokeslam, Big Show and King Booker rushed the ring and the match was ruled a No Contest. While Undertaker fought off the SmackDown and ECW Champions, the Deadman’s No Mercy opponent, Mr. Kennedy, tried to blindside Undertaker— but he failed.

As Undertaker and Mr. Kennedy fought back to the locker room area, Big Show, Cena and The King battled it out, giving a preview of the carnage of what will take place at Cyber Sunday on Nov. 5. Cena focused on Big Show at first, locking in the STFU on the Extreme champion. But, after King Booker stomped on Cena to break the hold, The Champ turned his attention on the King. Cena stood tall at the end of the night after he dropped King Booker with a booming FU. Is this what’s to come at Cyber Sunday?

With all of the special guests on the season premiere of RAW, D-Generation X decided to apologize for the antics they pulled on Jonathan Coachman last week – including dumping him in a trash bin and having a janitor haul him away – and for making the Spirit Squad compete in feminine cheerleading outfits.

Well, it began as an apology but ended up as more of a mock apology. Afterwards, The Game and HBK took on two spurs that have been sticking in their sides for the past few weeks: Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch.

In a hellacious Street Fight that disallows countouts or disqualifications, the scales seemed to be tipped in favor of Cade & Murdoch, two southerners that look like they’re more accustomed to fighting alligators or bears than people. In a Street Fight, the only way to win is to get the pinfall. In the match, Cade & Murdoch were unrelenting and showed DX they’ll back down from nobody — not even two veterans as decorated as HBK and The Game.

The southern duo took advantage of DX early, using a belt to horsewhip HBK while using the steel ring steps to smash Triple H’s face. For Cade & Murdoch, it was the opportunity they’ve been waiting for to prove how tough they really were. While they no doubt got their point across, they weren’t able to overcome the vast experience and craftiness of the two former World Champions. Once again, DX was able to fend off their competitors as HBK landed Sweet Chin Music on Cade and Triple H hit a Pedigree for the cover and the win.

Later on in the evening, former WWE Champion Edge gave a special edition of his talk show “The Cutting Edge.” His guest was the youngest World Heavyweight Champion in WWE history, Randy Orton. After some minor pleasantries, Edge got right to the point, insulting Orton by telling him he’s done nothing since winning the World Championship in 2004.

“For two years straight, you’ve consistently dropped the ball,” Edge said. “Every misstep, every bump in the road can be traced back to one, single solitary moment.”

The moment the former champion meant was two years ago when Evolution, led by Triple H, turned on Orton and beat him to a bloody pulp. Edge pointed out that the attack stemmed from jealousy on The Game’s part and that Orton should avenge Triple H’s betrayal.

Once Orton realized that Edge had a point, he was receptive to his advice.

“We should own this show. We should own the championships. We should be the future of this industry, not some tired act from a decade ago,” screamed Edge.

The Rated-R Superstar has called himself a master tactician before, a living chess player in the realm of sports-entertainment. But, after pinning the blame on DX – especially Triple H –the two shook hands in unity, showing that they can put their massive egos aside to form an alliance for the same goal: destroy D-Generation X. How will DX react to a newly formed alliance that, as Orton put it, “has two words for them: It’s over.”

Also, the undefeated Umaga kept his win streak alive and at the same time single-handedly changed the landscape of RAW in a Loser Leaves RAW Match against Kane. In what will be remembered as a turning point in RAW’s history, the Samoan Bulldozer was victorious over the Big Red Machine, and for the first time since the brand extension of 2002, Kane will no longer be a member of the RAW roster.

In the match filled with backbreaking slams and face denting punches, Kane nearly delivered Umaga’s first defeat. But with the help of manager Armando Alejandro Estrada, the Samoan Bulldozer was able to land the deadly Samoan Spike to emerge victorious.

Next week, for the first time in four and a half years, RAW will be without the Big Red Machine. On his way out of the arena for the last time as a RAW Superstar, the University of South Carolina crowd gave Kane a standing ovation for his dedication. Where will the Big Red Monster roam to next? Have the WWE fans seen the last of Kane?

Luckily, none of the applauding fans made the same mistake as the Highlanders. Robbie and Rory McAllister approached Kane to give their condolences, but weren’t met with the same kindness they showed. An irrational and emotional Kane answered their compliments by nailing Rory with a devastating punch to the throat and tossing Robbie through a stack of milk crates.

SmackDown’s presence was well represented on RAW. In a Six Man Tag Team Match, one night after all six combatants competed at No Mercy, Batista, Lashley and Rey Mysterio took on Finlay, William Regal and Chavo Guerrero.

Neither Lashley nor Batista seemed to hold any ill will towards the other after competing against each other at No Mercy for the World Heavyweight Championship. Although the argument could be made that Lashley’s spear on Batista is what allowed King Booker to steal the cover over Finlay, the Animal and Lashley looked to be on the same page during their match. As for Chavo and Rey, they picked up right where they left off at No Mercy. The two battled nearly the entire bout on RAW, but it was Mysterio who finished it off with a Frog Splash off the top rope for the pinfall over Chavo.

Also, Regal’s opponent from No Mercy, Chris Benoit – fresh off a win at No Mercy and a five month sabbatical – made an appearance on RAW, much to the surprise of hometown Superstar Shelton Benjamin. For weeks, Benjamin has complained that he’s overlooked because of the color of his skin, but after Benoit destroyed him in the ring he may have to come up with another reason to complain. Benoit locked in the Crippler Crossface and made Benjamin submit.

Benjamin wasn’t the only home state native in attendance. Two more locals, Mae Young and WWE Hall of Famer The Fabulous Moolah, were at the University of South Carolina to watch the third match of the opening round of the Women’s Championship tournament. Torrie Wilson took on Melina under Lumberjack Rules, where the lumberjacks were the same Divas that will appear on Extreme Strip Poker on ECW on Sci Fi, Tuesday night at 10 p.m. ET on the Sci Fi channel. Melina was able to leave with the victory, but the action didn’t stop there. Torrie attacked Kristal after the match and delivered her signature Facial to the SmackDown Diva.

Plus, what RAW Reunion would be complete without WWE Legends making an appearance? Mitch, a member of the World Tag Team Champion Spirit Squad, made a surprising declaration prior to his match with the “Nature Boy” Ric Flair.

“I have a confession to make. I suck. But tonight, I’m going to do the unthinkable; beat the 16-time World Champion, Ric Flair.”

Mitch believed he’d have the other members of the Squad to back him up against Flair, which would give him a five-on-one advantage. Well, he thought wrong. WWE Hall of Famer Rowdy Roddy Piper and WWE Legends Ted DiBiase, Irwin R. Schyster and Arn Anderson – a former member of the legendary Four Horseman came to ringside to support the “Nature Boy.” The Squad was shocked at the sight of the WWE greats, and was even more puzzled as the Legends pushed them away from ringside. Once the Squad was safely away from the ring, the crafty Flair made quick work of Mitch, making his declaration prior to the match seem truer than ever. After Flair got the submission victory from the Figure Four Leg Lock, the Legends climbed into the ring and joined Flair in celebrating his victory.

man i fell asleep before the legends match as i was really tired. dammit! but what pissed me off the most about raw was fucking umaga defeating kane. kane has been my favorite wrestler for ages, and for him to be defeated by that big dumb retard umaga is a shame. especially since they cheated to win when estrada hit him in the face with that piece of wood giving umaga a chance to knock down kane and pin him. i fucking hate umaga, but so far all he's done is fight little useless new people, not huge names like kane. that pissed me off. though i did like bigshow's appearences last night. him being one of my favorite wrestlers as well especially throwing johnny nitro around like he's nothing. that was funny shit. though i didn't like at the beginning where john cena said "no big show, there's one giant that is more of a champion than you'll ever be. and his name is andre comma the" and then bigshow was all "well if andre was here now, he'd be beneath me cause i'd kick his ass too!" that right there pissed me off. first off cause andre is dead, and secondly cause bigshow would be a pushover for andre. good night overall, though me being tired didn't help when i was trying to watch it.

ECW on Sci-Fi Results: 10-10-06

Full house...of pain
By Craig Tello
October 10, 2006

This week's edition of ECW on Sci laid it all out on the table. From Extreme Strip Poker turned cat fight to Six-Man Tag action, by the night's end, the Extremists and Divas dealt ECW fans a full house of pain.

In the quintessential confrontation between ECW Originals and new blood Extremists, the Extreme team of Sandman, Sabu and Rob Van Dam defeated the collected trio of Matt Striker, Test and ECW World Champion Big Show. Just one week after the Originals experienced one of the worst nights since ECW’s rebirth, the combination of Sandman, Sabu and RVD stood together and stood tall following a Six-Man Tag Match this week on Sci Fi.

Last week, Matt Striker, Big Show and Test especially all had a huge night of dominance on ECW on Sci Fi, culminating in the destruction of RVD in an Extreme Rules Match. After the Extreme Giant tossed Van Dam through a table, Test earned his biggest victory in ECW, but even with ECW World Champion and the pompous, calculating former social studies teacher as his partners, the true grit and sheer fighting spirit of ECW’s founding members prevailed.

For a majority of the contest, however, the monstrous Big Show dominated by brutalizing his opponents with his massive hands. Reliving the action of the previous week, Test too used his size and strength to keep the advantage in his team’s corner. The ECW Originals would show no fear, inviting the punishment and enduring the assault.

The original Extremists fought back utilizing double-team tactics including a Rolling Thunder/Arabian legdrop from the apron combo from Van Dam and the Homicidal, Suicidal, Death-defying Maniac. RVD, Sabu and Sandman ultimately achieved the advantage, double-dropkicking Big Show’s kneecaps to incapacitate the immense Extremist and taking out Test as well.

With a vulnerable Striker left alone, RVD ascended the turnbuckle a delivered a giant Five Star Frog Splash to the educator. For a final touch, RVD tagged in a hyped and extremely eager Sandman who was pinned by Striker in the same ring one week before. Sandman entered the ring and continued the attack on his rival with a barrage of haymakers and a Senton Bomb from the top rope for the emphatic win.

Also on ECW on Sci Fi, the undefeated CM Punk faced the self-touted “most extreme athlete” in ECW, Rene Dupree. Given the recent issues he’s had with Mike Knox – Punk fan Kelly Kelly’s overprotective boyfriend, Punk didn’t seem to be at all distracted in his highly competitive contest with Dupree. The fierce straightedge Extremist maintained his winning streak by picking up another victory with his Anaconda Vice.

Like Knox, Tommy Dreamer sought retribution on ECW on Sci Fi, the difference being that the ECW Original succeeded this week. After the unusual Kevin Thorn cheated a victory out of Dreamer one week before, Dreamer was prepared for Thorn and his skull-adorned walking stick. By the end of this rematch, Thorn had several near falls on the ECW Original, but Dreamer displayed his tough-as-nails resiliency.

After dropping Thorn with a kick to the very low midsection, Dreamer landed a big DDT for the pin in the center of the ring, further igniting the evening for ECW Originals and also ending the undefeated streak of Thorn. You can catch this and all the other action of ECW on Sci Fi in this week's Hardcore Hangover.

Matches
CM Punk def. Rene Dupree
RVD, Sabu & Sandman def. Test, Matt Striker & Big Show
Tommy Dreamer def. Kevin Thorn

TNA Impact! Results: 10-12-06

TNA Impact on Spike TV
October 12, 2006
Taped October 9 in Orlando, Florida
Report by James Caldwell, Torch columnist

- We start with a recap of last week when Jeff Jarrett chased Samoa Joe around the Impact zone looking for his belt. Voice over man plugged Kurt Angle's sit down interview.

- Borash is outside Cornette's office. Jeff Jarrett walked into the scene. He solemnly said something's not worth fighting for anymore.

- Tenay plugged a Samoa Joe interview to start the show. Joe, dressed in street clothes, was in the ring with the NWA Title belt around his shoulder. Joe said the jackass who normally carries around the belt steals the spotlight so often that he thought it would be his turn. He asked himself why he has the NWA Title belt. "For the last four years, these fans have seen this belt held hostage by the worst of men," he said. Joe said these people have seen paper champion after paper champion use the NWA Title as a political leveraging tool. "For the last four years, this belt has not been treated with the respect it deserves," he said. Joe listed names such as Dory Funk, Jr. and Harley Race, who treated the belt as a testament for being the best. He said that the man who wins the belt at Bound for Glory would be handed the belt on one condition that Joe receives an NWA Title shot.

Christian Cage's music interrupted. He walked out dressed to wrestle. Christian said he was standing in the back minding his own business when he couldn't help but overhear Joe say something about paper champions. He said he assumed Joe wasn't talking about himself. Joe said Christian is a very close second as paper champion behind Jarrett. Christian said Joe hasn't beaten him. "You haven't beat me and you never, ever will beat me," he said. Christian said the NWA Title belt was stolen from him the same way he stole it from Jarrett. He said he's going to take it back tonight. Joe lowered the ropes and told Christian to hit the ring. Christian said he's not talking about a wrestling match, but a fight. He wants no rules, no refs, and no winners, but about the NWA Title belt. Christian said they need to hang the belt above the ring and have a ladder match. He said the better man is the one who will walk away with the belt. He added, "And that's me." Christian stormed off as Joe stared after Christian.

- Tenay and West plugged everything under the sun including Sting and Angle interviews.

- Borash was in the locker room area with LAX. Konnan said they're on the hunt for some gringo meat tonight, A.J. and Daniels. The aforementioned babyfaces jumped LAX to cut off the interview. Daniels threw Hernandez headfirst into a locker as they cut to break.

[Commercial Break]

- The fight spilled to the ringside area from the locker room area. Styles slammed Homicide into the ring steps. In the ring, Daniels took Hernandez headfirst into the corner turnbuckle. Hernandez came up bleeding heavy. Daniels then choked Homicide with his hoodie. Styles then back dropped Hernandez over the top rope to the floor. LAX retreated on the outside. Daniels and Styles followed them to the Spanish announce table area. Konnan then made the save. Yes, Konnan had to make the save. They took Daniels into a caged area and started to beat him unmercifully. They locked out Styles and continued to beat down Daniels. Security managed to get inside the cage to break up the fight as Styles could only watch from the opposite side of the cage. Konnan held Daniels's face against the cage so Styles could get a good look at his mug.

- Ron Killings cut a promo about Sting vs. Jarrett. He said they had better get with Sting. Rhino said he doesn't want to talk about Sting-Jarrett; he would rather talk about his concussion.

[Commercial Break]

- They recapped the Bobby Roode sweepstakes. They showed him talking on the phone with the managers he interviewed and telling them he turned them down. Sherri hung up on him. Roode said he would reveal his manager at Bound for Glory. He turned around to hand off some papers to someone when a pair of breasts walked into the picture. They didn't reveal a face and shot from the neck down. Roode told the breasts that he made the right choice. Apparently, the cameraman was a horny teenage as the camera zoomed in on the breasts for several seconds. Well, the breasts belong to Traci Brooks in case you weren't able to recognize them.

- Jerry Lynn was backstage talking to the X Division goofs. He told them the fans think they're a bunch of Jackasses and it's time to wrestle. Well, considering Shark Boy was in the picture, that's funny. The X Division guys walked off to the ring, but Sabin stayed behind. He turned to Lynn and called him "old man." He then told Sabin to come to the ring and see what the X Division is all about.

1 -- ALEX SHELLEY & SENSHI & PETEY WILLIAMS & JOHNNY DEVINE vs. CHRIS SABIN & JAY LETHAL & SHARK BOY & SONJAY DUTT

Lynn walked out. Tenay said we would hear from Kevin Nash right after the match. The match broke down at 3:30. Sabin rolled up Shelley for the win. Lethal sarcastically applauded from the top of the ramp. After the match, Kevin Nash appeared on the video tron. He said the X Division has gone to the crapper. He said the division is at an all-time low and it sickens him. He then dabbed away tears from his eyes. Tenay wasn't impressed. Nash said he would hold a press conference next week for the Bound for Glory Kevin Nash X Division open invitational battle royale... at Bound for Glory. Sabin wasn't impressed in the ring.

WINNERS: The four generic babyfaces in 4:00.

- Styles cut a promo about Sting-Jarrett. He told Sting not to forgot about his boy when he wins the NWA Title. Christian's back told us that he doesn't want to talk about Sting-Jarrett.

[Commercial Break]

- Sting is in another video package. He had a red circle around his right eye. Another dramatic video quoting the Bible. They showed Sting standing on some rocks on the beach.

2 -- ELIX SKIPEPR & DAVID YOUNG w/Simon Diamond vs. RON KILLINGS & LANCE HOYT

Diamonds in the Rough jumped the babyfaces before the opening bell. They cut to backstage where Raven, Rhino, and Brother Runt were arguing. Raven said that "coconut eater," Samoa Joe was disrespecting them by focusing on the NWA Title rather their four-way deal at the PPV. In the ring, Skipper and Young argued. That allowed Killings to take control. Hoyt then slammed Young. Skipper became preoccupied and Killings rolled him up for the win. After the match, Simon Diamond was upset with both men. He yelled and screamed then ripped off his jacket. He threw it at Skipper then left. Young grabbed Skipper and yelled at him. Killings grabbed Skipper then shook his hand and hugged him.

WINNERS: Hoyt & Killings in 2:00. OK, that came completely out of nowhere and there will be no hype to follow up on that on this show so it will mean nothing.

- Shane Douglas cut a promo about Sting-Jarrett. B.G. James and Kip James discussed Jarrett. Kip said Jarrett acts like he's the almighty. B.G. then walked out of the camera shot and said everyone's right, Kip is an ass. OK, that came completely out of nowhere and there will be no follow up on that on this show so it will mean nothing.

- They said the Angle interview would be up next. So far, this show is exactly what Ed Ferrara talked about in the Keller Hotline on Wed. about "oh, by the way" booking.

[Commercial Break]

- Tenay introduced the Angle pre-tape interview. Angle said his dream was to win the Olympic gold medal and he didn't know what he was going to do after that. He said he went to pro wrestling and put his body on the line. He said he won six WWE Titles then someone told him that he's not special. Angle said he saw a company on the rise in TNA. He said he would take that chance when the opportunity came. On the TNA talent, he said "these guys" want to be the best in the world. He said they all have that look in their eye. Any names of "these guys"? Could he name anyone in the X Division? Angle said he hit rock bottom when he had neck surgery. He said TNA management told him that they would take care of him, keep doctors on him 24/7, and his relationship with his family would be a priority. That's an expensive medical bill. He said he finally realized that his family is more important. Angle said the WWE CEO told him a Gold medal and a cup of coffee don't mean (bleep). He said he wanted to send a message to WWE to watch out because they ain't seen nothing yet.

3 -- SAMOA JOE vs. CHRISTIAN CAGE -- Unsanctioned ladder match

If this is unsanctioned, why would TNA air it on TV? It wouldn't take but 30 seconds for Cornette to come on camera from his office and say that TNA management has decided to wash its hands of the potential destruction in the match, but in the interest of giving the fans a quality TV product, they're going to air the match anyways. Joe walked out first and hung the belt on a holder. Christian slowly entered the ring and Joe met him with a right hand. No bell rang and there was no referee since it's unsanctioned. Christian cut off Joe, but Joe answered with a high kick in the corner. Joe then tried to grab a ladder from under the ring, but Christian cut him off. Joe answered with a kick sending the ladder crashing into Christian's stomach. They cut to break with the ladder on top of Christian's stomach.

[Commercial Break]

The ladder was set up in the ring out of the break. Tenay said this is not a wrestling match; it's a ladder challenge. Christian set up the ladder on the far side of the ring then Joe reversed a corner whip and Christian ate the ladder. Joe placed Christian in the corner then he washed his face. Joe then placed the ladder next to Christian's crotch. He charged the ladder and propelled it into Christian's crotch. Nice spot. Joe then set up the ladder and began scaling the ladder. He grabbed the ladder, but Christian caught him from behind. Christian dropped Joe to the mat with an inverted DDT. The fans chanted for TNA. Christian was the first one up. He moved the ladder to the corner again then scaled it backwards. Joe recovered and threw Christian off the ladder. Weird spot. Joe then placed the ladder on Christian's stomach and hit a charging rear splash on the ladder and Christian. Christian slipped out of the Muscle Buster than grabbed the ladder and rammed it into Joe, sending him to the floor. Christian set up the ladder in center ring this time and he began scaling. He had his hands on the belt, but he decided he couldn't grab it from the hook. Joe caught him with a punch to the kidneys then he dropped Christian with the Muscle Buster. Joe scaled the ladder, but then saw Abyss coming to the ring so he threw the ladder aside. Abyss entered the ring and dropped Joe with the Muscle Buster. Too easy. Abyss then set up the ladder in center ring. He began climbing until Brother Runt and Raven to the ring. They powerbombed Abyss off the ladder. Raven then attacked Runt. They brawled to the outside then Abyss joined the brawl. Meanwhile, Runt set up a ladder and flew to the outside on Abyss and Raven. Back in the ring, Christian set up the ladder in center ring. He began climbing and gained possession of the belt, but Joe took it from his hands. They fought for control before Rhino hit the ring. He shoved both men off the ladder and Joe fell to the mat with control of the belt. Rhino and Joe stared down each other as the fans roared in anticipation of a fight. Rhino turned around and Gored Christian then chased him to the outside. They closed with Joe staring into the hard camera while raising the title belt in the air.

WINNER: No official winner at no official time (12:00 of TV time). If they switched the Bound for Glory main event from Jarrett-Sting to Joe-Rhino, they would probably do more buys after the inadvertent smart booking of Joe-Rhino. They did a great job of teasing a future match-up between the two bulls. With them not making any contact so as not to give away the visual of them fighting, TNA could make money on getting fans to pay $29.99 to see that fight contact they could only visualize.

- They closed with a music video recapping the show. Team 3D said they're hungry for the NWA Tag Titles to become the greatest team of all time.

WWE Smackdown Results: 10-13-06

King Me
By Brett Hoffman
October 13, 2006

It was an eventful night on a jam-packed edition of SmackDown from Jacksonville. Chris Benoit made a splash in his SmackDown return, Kane shocked fans and scared MVP in his SmackDown debut, Rey Mysterio and Chavo Guerrero agreed on an “I Quit” Match for next week’s show, and Batista won a Triple Threat Match for the right to challenge King Booker for his World Heavyweight Championship next week in Los Angeles.

Much to King Booker’s bewilderment, General Manager Theodore Long ordered a Triple Threat Main Event on SmackDown for the right to face King Booker for the World Heavyweight Championship on next week’s show. The competitors involved were the three men who faced King Booker at No Mercy; Batista, Lashley and Finlay.

Moments before the battle began, SmackDown announcers Michael Cole and JBL were joined by none other than King Booker himself on commentary for the pivotal match. In the opening seconds of the contest, Batista and Lashley took advantage of their friendship to neutralize the angry Irishman. With Finlay out of the equation, the friendship was thrown out the window as Batista and Lashley locked it up in a battle of true powerhouses.

A variety of high impact maneuvers left both Batista and Lashley laid out on the mat, allowing Finlay to follow in the footsteps of King Booker at No Mercy, and pick up the scraps. Unfortunately for the angry fighter, Lashley and Batista weren’t ready to be pinned just yet. After a few unsuccessful attempts at a pin, Lashley turned the tide and scooped up Finlay for a devastating power slam. The former U.S. Champion went for the pin, but as the ref’s hand was inches from the mat, Little Bastard jumped into the ring and disrupted the count.

With the match in flux, Batista seized control, laying out both opponents before leaving the ring to head to the announce table. After staring down the seated World Heavyweight Champion, Batista proceeded to take apart the table, apparently preparing it in hopes of driving one of his opponents through it. Unfortunately for the Animal, the move backfired as Lashley and Finlay teamed up to choke slam Batista to his apparent demise.

With Batista seemingly down and out, Finlay and Lashley resumed their lengthy rivalry in the ring. After a series of blows, Finlay got the upper hand and dropped Lashley on his head with the Celtic Cross. The former U.S. Champion went for the pin, but Batista resurrected himself from the dead and broke up the count.

From there, the match belonged to Batista. With Lashley incapacitated from the Celtic Cross, Batista finished off the Irishman with the Batista Bomb and recorded the pin to be come the No. 1 Contender to King Booker’s crown. As SmackDown went off the air, Michael Cole delivered a blockbuster, informing King Booker that next week during the Championship match, Cyber Sunday main eventers John Cena and Big Show will be seated at ringside to view the proceedings. What will happen next week when Batista gets another opportunity to capture the gold that he so badly craves?

One of the biggest stories coming into this week’s show was the SmackDown in-ring debut of Montel Vontavious Porter. At No Mercy, MVP made his WWE in-ring debut, taking on a less than formidable opponent in the unknown Marty Garner. This week, MVP begged Teddy Long for some “competition”. As the old saying goes, “be careful what you wish for, because you just might get it.”

MVP’s “competition” came in the form of the debuting Kane, who earlier this week lost a Loser Leaves RAW match to Umaga thanks to interference from Armando Alejandro Estrada. Still fuming from the events of Monday night, Kane took out his aggression on the cocky SmackDown newcomer. Minutes into the one-sided affair, MVP bailed, leaving the ring and making a b-line to the locker room. Who is next on Kane’s list?

Sunday’s No Mercy was a monumental night in SmackDown history, in-part due to the successful return of fan-favorite Chris Benoit. On Friday night, Benoit added some hardware to his collection in the form of the United States Championship when he defeated Mr. Kennedy.

The match was made when Mr. Kennedy came out to brag about his shaky “victory” over the Undertaker at No Mercy. The loudmouth Superstar made a challenge to Theodore Long.

“I’ll put my title on the line against a man Teddy Long claims I’ve never beaten,” said Kennedy. “But if I win, I get to leave and go to RAW.”

Long agreed, and seconds later, Benoit emerged from the locker room.

A shocked Kennedy looked on as the rabid wolverine stormed the ring. Benoit took it right to the United States champ, showing the aggression that has made him the decorated performer and fan-favorite that he is today. Kennedy was game for the challenge, and even looked to have the upper-hand at one point in the match before the tide was turned for good.

As Kennedy was in control, Undertaker’s gong played over the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena, temporarily distracting the surprised champion. That distraction opened the door for the wolverine to go to work and finish off a flustered Kennedy. Benoit used a series of german suplexes and then the signature Crippler Crossface to seal the deal and become the new United States Champion.

At RAW Reunion, Rey Mysterio capped an incredible week by defeating Chavo Guerrero Jr. for the second consecutive night. On Friday, Mysterio attempted to move on, taking on and defeating a game Jamie Noble in one-on-one action. After the match, he was again confronted by Chavo Guerrero and Vickie Guerrero, who made a shocking challenge.

“You must be proud,” said Chavo. “You must be proud of driving me to the lowest point in my career. As long as the two of us are on SmackDown this will never end. So Rey, I challenge you to an “I Quit” Match next week on SmackDown.”

Rey hesitated before reminding Chavo, “I’ve beaten you twice in a row, do you really want to get beat again?”

An irritated Vickie Guerrero grabbed the microphone and re-issued the challenge.

“The difference between my Eddie and you Rey is that Eddie had balls.”

A fired up Rey responded to the challenge. “I’m going to prove to both of you what Rey Mysterio is all about. You want an I Quit Match? I’ll tell you what, the words “I Quit” are going to come out of your mouth Chavo.”

In other SmackDown action, Vito and William Regal continued their increasingly heated rivalry. At No Mercy, William Regal’s inauspicious night was due in part to a series of run-in’s with Vito, which led to his impromptu beating at the hands of Chris Benoit.

On Friday night, William Regal took out his frustrations on the dress-wearing tough guy, but couldn’t close the deal. After taking a series of punishing crossface forearms, Vito was able to record a pin with a “revealing” sunset flip on Regal, getting the 1-2-3 to stay undefeated since donning the dress.

Also, Jimmy Wang Yang recorded his first SmackDown win when he teamed with Tag Team Champions Paul London and Brian Kendrick to defeat Idol Stevens, K.C. James and Sylvan.

Matches
Chris Benoit def. United States Champion Mr. Kennedy to win Championship
Batista def. Lashley and Finlay
M.V.P. vs. Kane (No Contest)
Rey Mysterio def. Jamie Noble
Jimmy Wang Yang, Paul London & Brian Kendrick def. Sylvan, Idol Stevens & K.C. James

I did but I was rather disappointed how it ended. I thought if Christian were to get the belt, he would become the champion... ah well, i'll figure it out sooner or later.

Eh, tonight's Raw was okay. The fact that Kevin Federline got FU'ed made it worthwhile but seeing Steve-O get the shit beat out of him and walk out okay was priceless! I'm sure he was thinking that Umaga was dishing out pussy punishment compared to what Steve-O is used to!
