Dead Man Walking?
By Brett Hoffman
August 11, 2006

On a chaotic edition of SmackDown from Nashville, The Great Khali’s master plan to avoid facing Undertaker in a Last Man Standing Match was spoiled in a big way when he received a ground breaking chokeslam from the Phenom. To make matters worse, SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long ordered the Punjabi warrior to meet Undertaker in a Last Man Standing match next week on the show. Also, Batista dominated the Tag-Team main event and then had a message for King Booker, and the family feud between Rey Mysterio, Chavo and an innocent Vickie Guerrero continued, all as SmackDown surges towards the biggest party of the Summer.

Two weeks ago on SmackDown, Undertaker challenged Great Khali to a Last Man Standing match at SummerSlam. This week, Daivari and Khali immediately addressed the situation.

“Undertaker, you might as well be a dead man…” said Khali’s spokesman. “Because, to The Great Khali, you do not exist. He’s beat you down week after week after week. You are nothing to The Great Khali. We do not accept your challenge for a Last Man Standing Match at SummerSlam.”

Seconds later, with Daivari and Khali still in the ring, Undertaker took matters into his own hands. The Phenom rushed the ring and immediately went after the Punjabi monster. The Deadman softened him up with a barrage of lefts and rights and then delivered a statement that shook the foundation of SmackDown. With Khali wobbly and vulnerable, Undertaker grabbed for his throat, elevated him and drove him to the mat with a thunderous chokeslam. Not only was it the first time anyone manhandled The Great Khali, but it was the first time anyone even took the 7 foot 3, 420 pound monster off his feet.

Moments later, SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long delivered the final blow to Khali’s auspicious evening. “The Great Khali will not wrestle Undertaker at SummerSlam,” said Long. “Because next week, right here on SmackDown, The Great Khali will go one-on-one with Undertaker in a Last Man Standing Match.”

The main event on SmackDown was a tag match pitting power vs. experience as Batista and Lashley teamed up to take on United States Champion Finlay and his partner William Regal.

The unique pairings provided the kind of aggressive action that you can only find on SmackDown. Finlay and Regal, who themselves have been going at it for weeks, used their advantage in technical wrestling to keep the bigger men off their feet. The strategy however didn’t work for long because when Batista got into the ring, things broke down in a hurry.

The former World Heavyweight Champion, who in recent weeks has repeatedly spoken of his desire to regain the gold showed the fire that made him such a dominant Champion. The Animal made quick work of the opposition, obliterating Regal with a high-impact spinebuster and scoring the pin.

After the match, Batista addressed King Booker, who had joined Michael Cole and JBL for commentary. “Nothing personal Booker, but thanks for holding onto my Championship for me,” said the former Champ. “At SummerSlam, I’ll be needing that back.”

Whether or not Batista can slow down the streaking King is still up in the air. But one thing is for sure, if he delivers a spinebuster to King Booker the likes of the one he gave William Regal, the gold could very easily be changing hands at SummerSlam.

Also this week on SmackDown, former World Champion Rey Mysterio faced off with the red-hot Mr. Kennedy, but the match was interrupted and overshadowed by the continuation of the emotional and dramatic family feud between Rey and former close friend Chavo Guerrero.

Eddie Guerrero’s widow Vickie, who last week found herself in the middle of the bitter family dispute was at SmackDown again this week. In the locker room, an emotionally distraught Vickie tried to talk some sense into the former friends. Chavo however, tried to turn the tables. Echoing many of the sentiments he shared last week, Chavo told Vickie that Rey was to blame for the family squabbles.

“I didn’t start this Vickie. I know things are messed up lately, but I’ve known you for a long time,” said Chavo. “Rey is trying to steal the Guerrero name. You might not be blood Vickie, but you married a Guerrero, you’re as much of a Guerrero as any of us. The fact is that Rey is trying to tear our family apart. His last name is not Guerrero.”

Chavo continued, promising Vickie that he would do his best to avoid further confrontation. “I will do my best,” said Chavo. “In honor of Eddie, I will do my best to avoid that bottom feeding leech Rey Mysterio.

Later, Rey Mysterio made a similar promise to Vickie. “I’ll try my best in the name of Eddie Guerrero…” said Rey. “I’ll try to avoid fighting him. I can’t guarantee anything, but I guarantee you I will try my best.”

By the time the night was over, only one man had honored his promise.

Showing the resiliency that has made him the Superstar that he is today, Rey was able to shake off the distractions of his family affairs and focus on the match at hand. But, just when he appeared to be on the verge of putting Kennedy away, Chavo stormed the ring. Rey met his former friend with a sliding dropkick and an intense brawl immediately ensued.

Overwhelmed, Vickie came ringside in an attempt to break up the fight, but found herself in the wrong place at the wrong time as she was inadvertently knocked down when Chavo pushed Rey into her. Noticing the innocent peacemaker lying helpless on the arena floor, Rey turned his attention to a motionless Vickie. Seconds later, Chavo showed the world his true colors when he leveled Rey from behind with a cheap shot. What was at one time a minor scuffle between friends has officially escalated into a full scale family feud.

Several of SmackDown’s rising young stars were also in action this week on SmackDown. Fresh of their impressive debuts of a week ago, Michelle McCool’s teacher’s pets, K.C. James and Idol Stevens were back in action. The smooth newcomers sent a message to the tag-team division and immediately put themselves in the Championship hunt when they took out current Tag-Team Champions London & Kendrick in non-title action.

Also, renowned bully and amateur wrestling specialist Sylvester Terkay was back in action. The decorated newcomer dominated another opponent both before and after the bell. In just three weeks, Terkay has established himself as an absolute force to be reckoned with for any and all WWE Superstars.

Montel Vontavious Porter was seen chatting with SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long in the locker room again this week. Long attempted to make an offer to M.V.P., but was again referred to the young Superstar’s agent.

The longest current reigning Champion in all of WWE, Cruiserweight Champion Gregory Helms, was also in action this week. The king of the Cruiserweight mountain recorded a controversial victory over the Native American Tatanka when the referee failed to notice Tatanka’s leg under the rope during the pin. Afterwards, Tatanka was irate with the referee’s mistake.

In other action, Vito remained undefeated since donning the dress as he danced his way to victory over the Ambassador-at-Large to Quebec, Sylvan.

As first reported on WWE.com earier this week, The Boogeyman is coming back to SmackDown. For those viewers that missed the announcement, a special video package aired this week to remind fans of this imminent return.

Here's the REAL reason behind this decision:

WWE recently announced that The Undertaker will be taking on The Great Khali at next Tuesday’s SmackDown! tapings in Washington, DC rather than this year’s SummerSlam pay-per view.

This decision was made due to a string of recent House Show matches between the two. It was then deemed that Khali can’t appear on anything that airs live on television for WWE. WWE also within the past few weeks has had to edit anything that involved The Great Khali.

There remains no word on his future with WWE after the SmackDown! taping next week, but one can assume that if he is not at a point yet where he can perform, he might be sent back to developmental or let go all together.

Shawn Michaels recently signed a 5-year contract for $1.5 million per year which shocked a lot of people, including Michaels himself. Michaels never thought he'd get an offer like that and while he had been planning on slowing down his schedule very soon, the deal offered to him changed his mind.

For Unforgiven, the main event is all but confirmed to be Edge Vs. John Cena for the title in a TLC match. The idea currently is that Cena will win the title at Summerslam in his hometown, but Edge will then win it back the next month in his hometown and in his specialty match. The feud is currently planned to end around Survivor Series time with Edge being scheduled to be champion afterwards, but things change rapidly in WWE so it is not written in stone.

Speaking of Unforgiven, Trish Stratus is currently being written off RAW and will have her blow-off match at the Unforigven PPV in her hometown of Toronto.

Lita may finish her WWE run as late as November with September being the earliest. She has left the door open to a possible return down the line.

The following is from Bill Goldberg's website (8/11/2006):

"I was all set to wrestle August 20th for Gladiator Championship Wrestling, which would have been awesome, mostly because it would have been a one-shot appearance for that promotion. However, it will not happen because I signed a 90-day holding deal with Spike TV, so I could not do the Gladiator event because it eventually would go on TV and it conflicted with my Spike deal.
A holding deal means that I am contractually-bound to not working for another network for the 90 days. And that's anything, not just wrestling. I cannot appear on another cable network during the holding deal.

The holding deal definitely means that I now will talk with TNA Wrestling, but nothing further than that.

I'm meeting with Spike next week. More soon...."

Thanks to Mojodude for the above.

After that was posted late last night, the headline on www.BillGoldberg.com was changed to read: "GOLDBERG SIGNS HOLDING DEAL WITH SPIKE TV"

Goldberg, the former WCW and WWE World Champion, has not wrestled since Wrestlemania XX on March 14, 2004, where he defeated Brock Lesnar, but was then laid out by Steve Austin. Goldberg entered into contract negotiations with WWE for a new deal that month, but no agreement was reached.

Goldberg has since involved himself in a variety of movie and television projects and made it clear in several interviews that he has no desire to return to WWE.

Of course, as Goldberg noted in his statement, this holding deal does not mean he will be wrestling or appearing for TNA, but simply that he is in talks with Spike TV and can't appear on another cable network at this time.

TNA Hard Justice PPV Results: 8-13-06

Edited for length: Courtesy of PWTorch.com...

1 -- "SHOWTIME" ERIC YOUNG vs. JOHNNY DEVINE

Devine told Young before the match that as a former partner, he knows he chokes all the time. Tenay and West talked about how fragile and paranoid Young is. The crowd chanted "Super Eric" early. Devine dominated early. Fire extinguishers were utilized in the rafters as pryo caught something on fire. It created a fog inside the ring. West apologized for the fogged up ring. Tenay said it's live TV. The crowd chanted, "You can't see us!" They get an A for creativity there. Tenay and West bragged that TNA is "literally on fire." Young scored a very near fall at 5:00 after a top rope elbowdrop. Devine went for a quick pin with his foot on the middle rope for leverage. Young hit a neckbreaker a minute later for the clean win. West said Young just saved his job.

WINNER: Young in 6:00.

STAR RATING: *

-After the match, Earl Hebner in street clothes attacked Slick Johnson from behind and choked him. Hebner yelled at Zbyszko that if he goes down, Zbyszko is going down with us.

-At 8:32, they went back live to Tenay and Borash standing outside the Impact Zone. A fire truck was outside the studio. Tenay said the fire marshall has evacuated everyone from the arena to be sure it's safe for everyone. Borash stalled by saying not much of anything. They went to a clip of the fire in the rafters. West joined them and said the fans are being allowed back into the arena. West then went into full hype mode talking about the matches that were coming up. Tenay said he's never seen anything close to this in all of his years of live TV. West said some wrestlers may be affected and the fans may be on edge. Tenay said it was amazing the fans didn't want to leave during the fire in the opening match. Tenay and West kept stalling, talking about how hot and humid it was all day in Orlando. West said they may have to cancel a match, but all of the big matches will be included. At 7:40 Young walked up to Tenay and West and said he wanted Cornette to know this had nothing to do with him. "It wasn't my fault! Jim Cornette has to know this!" he said. It was about time they sent out a wrestler to help fill some TV time. Monty Brown then joined them and had to improvise a promo. He did "Best of Monty" hyping his match against Samoa Joe and Rhino. Meanwhile, they showed the arena actually filling with fans again. Shane Douglas and The Naturals walked up to Tenay. This is a dream situation for Douglas - a chance to cut a promo with no time restraint.

2 -- CHRIS SABIN vs. ALEX SHELLEY

This, the second match of the show, began at 8:50 p.m. The rest of the event might feel a lot like a regular Impact - frenetic and rushed. Nash was wheeled to ringside after Shelley's ring intro. Tenay said nobody should be to blame for questioning Nash's injury due to his track record. West said fans should be commended since not one left during the fire evacuation. They went to reaction shots by Nash several times during the match. Tenay and West plugged Bound for Glory in Detroit. At 5:00 Shelley applied a groin claw, but Sabin came back immediately with a reverse sidekick, an enzuigiri, a dropkick, and a springboard legdrop for a near fall. Shelley spun around Sabin in mid-air and applied a crossface submission in a nice sequence. Sabin reached the bottom rope to force a break. Tenay noticed Shelley was wearing an armband with "Kev" written on it. Sabin hung Shelley upside down and gave him a hesitation dropkick leading to a near fall. Devine distracted the ref as Shelley worked over Sabin with a back cracker and shellshock. The ref turned around a counted two. Nash slid Shelley a chair, so Devine distracted the ref again. Their timing was off earlier. Sabin dropkicked the chair into Shelley's face, then hit Cradle Shock for the win.

WINNER: Sabin in 8:00 to become no. 1 contender for the X Title.

STAR RATING: ** -- Okay match.

-Despite the loss of 40 minutes of the show due to the fire, they still aired the preview video package for the match.

3 -- BROTHER RUNT vs. ABYSS

Runt cut his hair into a mohawk and wore a tie-die t-shirt and black pants, changing his look dramatically. He bounced off of Abyss in the first minute. Abyss then pressed and threw Runt into the crowd. The fans threw him back. Runt avoided another toss into the crowd and gave Abyss the Acid Drop into the crowd over the railing. They showed Raven watching from the stands. Tenay said Runt just doesn't know any better that he's not supposed to stand a chance against Abyss. Abyss threw Runt head-first into a chair in the corner, then went on sustained offense. At 5:00 Runt hit Abyss with a chain and then a double foot stomp for a two count. He followed with an Acid Drop for another two count. Abyss squashed the ref by mistake in the corner. Mitchell threw a bag of tacks to Abyss. Abyss dumped them in center ring and shoved Runt's face into them, then stomped his face into them again. Runt used the pain to get fired up, as he went on a barrage of punches and headbutts against Abyss. Abyss, though, lifted and dropped Runt chest-first down onto the tacks. He followed with a Black Hole Slam onto the tacks for a three count. The bell was late in ringing after the three count. West said Runt has to be questioning why he challenged Abyss in the first place. Tenay said his determination and guts have to be admired. They showed Raven again looking on with his arms extended. They replayed the thumb tack spots.

WINNER: Abyss in 7:00.

STAR RATING: *1/2 -- They did an effective job making Runt seem believably competitive, but perhaps too good of a job as it may have hurt Abyss's killer image.

4 -- SAMOA JOE vs. RHINO vs. MONTY BROWN

After a brief three-way scuffle, Rhino dove over the top rope onto Brown on the floor. Joe followed with his running diving elbow through the ropes to Rhino's face at ringside. Joe whipped Rhino into the railing, then Brown attacked Joe. Joe, though, kicked a trash can into Rhino's face. Joe charged at Brown in a chair in the corner with his face buster boot. Rhino tossed Joe into the crowd, then grabbed a baking pan and hit Joe with it. He followed with a cane shot. Joe and Rhino brawled in the crowd for a minute. Brown joined in. They began wrecking the Impact set, throwing each other into the wood panels separating floor seats from the stands. After several minutes of stand-up brawling with weapons in the crowd, at 7:00 they took it to the ramp. Joe kicked Rhino to block a Gore, then Brown suplexed Rhino on the ramp leading to a two count. Brown scored a two count after dropkicking Joe. They returned to the ring at 9:00. Joe sentoned Brown with a trash can lid for extra impact. Rhino gave Joe a spinebuster onto a chair for a near fall. Brown stopped Joe's momentum against Rhino by yanking him out of the ring by his leg. He threw him into the announcers' table. They fought up the ramp away. Rhino attacked Joe on the ramp, then set up two tables against the wall of the entrance stage. Rhino charged at Brown, trying to Gore him off the stage into the tables, but Brown side-stepped Rhino. Joe then STO's Brown off the ramp and through a table for the pin. Tenay said, "If you aren't on your feet at home after that one, then dammit you don't have a pulse." Joe said, "I came here looking for a fight, and whether this son of a bitch burns down or not, I got one. And dammit, we can do it all over again!"

WINNER: Joe in 14:00.

STAR RATING: **3/4 -- Above-standard brawling weapons garbage spotfest. Good action for this type of match with a strong finish.

-Borash interviewed Zbyszko about the Hebner attack. Zbyszko said he can't read his mind and doesn't know why he did what he did. Zbyszko denied any involvement in the things Hebner accused him of. Slick Johnson told Zbyszko he believes Hebner's accusation. Too much of this Zbyszko-Johnson storyline in a pay event that is way behind schedule.

5 -- SIRELDA vs. GAIL KIM

Sirelda does that bad indy rookie overacting and reacting to the crowd that doesn't belong on a national PPV. Her wrestling isn't any better at this point, either. She's about as graceful at Ox Baker in his final years in the ring. Kim won clean with a neckbreaker off the ropes.

WINNER: Kim in 4:00.

STAR RATING: 1/4* -- This could have been cut. Shouldn't have been booked in the first place, actually.

6 -- SENSHI vs. PETEY WILLIAMS vs. JAY LETHAL -- X Title Match

Senshi overshot Lethal and Williams with a dive over the top rope onto the floor, and then landed on his feet after just grazing them. Williams blocked a powerbomb attempt by Lethal off the ring apron and then legdropped his throat. Back in the ring, Senshi chopped Lethal. At 4:00 Petey and Senshi took turns working over Lethal, then went after each other. When Senshi went to the top rope, Lethal caught him and went for a superplex. Senshi blocked it and hung Lethal upside down. He dove at Petey rather than go for his double stomp. Lethal hit both Senshi and Petey with a dropkick off the top rope. Lethal went on sustained offense against Senshi and Lethal, including a near fall on Senshi with a bridge suplex. Petey signalled for the Canadain Destroyer, but Lethal reversed it into a suplex into a bridge. At 8:00 they went into a nice series of pin attempts. Williams applied a sharpshooter on Lethal, but Senshi kicked him. At 10:00 Lethal missed a top rope headbutt, then Williams hit the Canadian Destroyer. Before he could make the cover, Senshi kicked him and made the cover himself.

WINNER: Senshi in 11:00 to retain the X Title.

STAR RATING: *** - Solid three-way X Division match. Not a show-stealing, though.

7 -- A.J. STYLES & CHRISTOPHER DANIELS vs. HOMICIDE & HERNANDEZ (w/Konnan)

Hernandez overpowered Daniels early. Daniels fired back with a low dropkick. Homicide tagged in. Styles asked for the tag and got it. Some nice exchanges between them. Daniels tagged in and dove onto Hernandez in what appeared to be a botched spot. LAX isolated Styles for a few minutes. At 9:00 Styles hot-tagged Daniels. Daniels did a nice flip moonsault onto Homicide at ringside. Hernandez dove onto both Homicide and Daniels with a leap over the top rope onto the floor. Styles topped him with a springboard flip dive onto all three at 11:00. Styles face planted Homicide in the ring for a two count. Four-way action broke out including a three-way tower suplex out of the corner and then a Crackerjack by Hernandez on Styles. Styles came back with a Pele kick out of nowhere followed by an inverted DDT off the ropes for a two count. More chaos settled into Daniels holding Homicide down with a boot to the throat. Styles was shoved off the top rope by Hernandez before he could leap into Homicide. Styles and Daniels seconds later finished Hernandez with a high-low.

WINNERS: Styles & Daniels in 15:00.

STAR RATING: ***1/4 -- Some botched or clucky spots, but enough athleticism and excitement to keep it solidly in the above-average range.

8 -- JEFF JARRETT (w/Scott Steiner) vs. STING (w/Christian) -- NWA World Hvt. Title match

After the initial exchnage, Jarrett slapped Sting. Sting went for an early Scorpion. Jarrett escaped and bailed to ringside. Sting threw Jarrett into the announcers' table and then bashed him with a fan. They went into the crowd for the Jeff Jarrett Special match format which Sting is surely happy to settle for. Steiner and Christian followed their men. At 6:00 they returned to the ring. Sting climbed to the top rope. Steiner hit Sting in the leg with a chair. Christian approached Steiner. Steiner gave him a belly-to-belly onto the floor, then did some push-ups. Jarrett worked over Sting's legs and then applied a figure-four. Sting reversed it at 9:00. Sting went for a Stinger Splash at half speed. Jarrett moved, then went for a Stroke. Sting reversed it into a Russian leg sweep. Steiner yanked the ref out of the ring during the count. Christian attacked Steiner. Jarrett lifted his knees as Sting went for a splash. The ref tried to order Christian to the back. The ref argued with Steiner next. Jarrett ran at Sting with the belt. Sting ducked. Christian shoved the belt to Sting, who KO'd Sting with it. The ref broke free from arguing with Steiner and made a count. Jarrett put a leg over the bottom rope at 11:00. Steiner hit Sting in the back with a chair. Sting fell onto Jarrett with a headbutt to his crotch. Both were down. Christian and Steiner both entered the ring. Christian poked Steiner's eye and stomped him in the corner. Christian KO'd Jarrett with a chair in a moment that was supposed to tease a turn. The ref ordered Christian to the back. Meanwhile, Steiner cheered on the decision. The ref then turned and ordered Steiner to the back. Jarrett put Sting in a Scorpion. Sting powered out and put on his own Scorpion. Jarrett reached the bottom rope. Sting went for a corner splash, but he hit the ref by mistake. Jarrett gave Sting a low blow and then a Stroke. Steiner returned to the ring and handed Jarrett a guitar. Christian ran out to stop Jarrett, bashing both Jarrett and Steiner with Sting's baseball bat. Christian slammed Jarrett off the top rope, then told Sting to go to the top rope. Sting flew at Jarrett, but Christian hit Sting with the guitar in mid-flight at 16:00. West shouted, "What did he just do?" Christian let out a cocky laugh and grinned as Jarrett covered Sting and the ref counted to three.

WINNER: Jarrett in 17:00.

STAR RATING: *3/4 -- Average match with a bad finish. Sting looked overweight and lethargic. Jarrett fell back on his formula more than ever. The worst aspect of the finish is that Christian had no way of knowing - from a storyline standpoint - that the match wouldn't have ended by the time he turned on Sting. There also was nothing apparent in the match that would explain why Christian would pass up a chance earlier in the match to turn on Sting and actually helped him. Low IQ booking.

Cena goes off
By Zack Zeigler
August 14, 2006

As RAW began, WWE Champion Edge and his girlfriend Lita had everything to smile about. He’d successfully lured the challenger to his championship, John Cena, out of the arena, and Lita defeated Mickie James to become the new Women’s Champion—making them the first couple in WWE history to possess double gold. Unfortunately for Edge, the night would quickly turn into a nightmare as an unexpected appearance by John Cena turned his giddiness into fear of Cena’s wrath.

The evening kicked off with Edge shedding light on the details that took place at the Cena residence in West Newbury, Mass. earlier in the day. WWE.com reported that an incident had occurred that was serious enough to cause Cena to leave the arena to head back to his father’s home. After Edge and Lita forced their way into the house and were asked to leave, he responded by slapping Cena’s father with enough force to knock him to the ground. Upon leaving, Edge laughed at Mr. Cena laying there in pain on his living room floor.

The laughs continued as the Rated R Superstar helped Lita get a victory over Women’s Champion Mickie James. He distracted the referee which allowed Lita to smash James in the head with the Women’s Championship belt to get the pinfall and her third championship. The two were all smiles as their momentum for the night seemed to be building. Trying to keep the momentum rolling in his non-title match with Carlito was another story, though.

Prior to the match, Carlito gave Trish a kiss to match the one she gave him last week on RAW. Each week we’ve seen their relationship grow, but what has it grown into? In the match, both Superstars landed high-risk moves and Carlito nearly had a pinfall, but Lita pulled Edge’s foot onto the rope. Stratus was at ringside to level out the playing ground by keeping Lita at bay—for the most part.

As the match continued, out of nowhere, an irate John Cena bum rushed the ring and clobbered the WWE Champion. The fire that burned in Cena was present in the fact that it took a half dozen security personnel to restrain him. As Edge fled to the locker room area to safety, one has to wonder what’s going through his head. With the rage and fury John Cena possessed for Edge involving his family, did the Champion make a huge mistake less than a week before SummerSlam? Can Cena bring that rage with him to SummerSlam? Was involving the Cena family a huge mistake for Edge?

Edge learned a harsh lesson that stepping over the line and involving the Cena family is potentially a horrible mistake. The same can also now be said for Randy Orton. The insults that the Legend Killer has issued towards the Hulkster and the entire Hogan family over the past few weeks brought Hogan into a new level of intensity on RAW.

Orton was on RAW to call out Hogan, seemingly to test the strength in the partially torn meniscus that nearly kept Hogan out of SummerSlam. There was no sighting of Hogan earlier in the evening, which left fans questioning whether or not the WWE Hall of Famer would show or not. When Hogan’s music sounded, the expectation was that Hogan was on his way down to the ring to confront Orton. But it wasn’t. It was the imposter from Orton Knows Best. Orton mocked the fake Hogan and told the look-alike that he was going to kill the Hogan legend at SummerSlam. Then, the real Hulk Hogan appeared—and the power in his glare as he walked down the ramp spoke much louder than any words ever could.

After Hogan fought through Orton’s stomps as he tried to enter the ring, he tossed the Legend Killer out of the ring and pummeled the imposter with body slams, elbows and right hands before tossing him out of the ring. He then had a message for Orton.

“There’s one legend that the Legend Killer can’t kill, and that’s the legend of Hulkamania, brother. So I guess we can say, that there’s one question: Whatcha gonna do when the power of all these millions and millions of all these Hulkamanicas runs wild on you?”

The McMahons have used divide and conquer to essentially run wild on DX for the past two weeks. The plan has worked impeccably well, but on RAW, DX was finally back in full force. The McMahons told their SummerSlam opponents that as the biggest name in the history of sports-entertainment, they have unlimited resources and “will bring down the wrath of Satan upon you” to ensure a victory.

Triple H and Shawn Michaels admitted that the last two weeks had been “a little rough” and “pretty undesirable” for DX, but Triple H told the McMahons:

“At SummerSlam, we are going to kick your ass. Bring whoever you want…we don’t’ care. Someone from the street…we don’t’ care. The 82nd airborne…we don’t’ care. Satan himself…we will look the devil dead in his eye, spit in his face and tell him the exact same thing we’re about to tell you.”

Then Triple H gave the Chairman and his son their customary two words. After DX gave the McMahons two words, someone else had a few words for them—Armando Alejandro Estrada. After Umaga remained undefeated by decimating another opponent, Estrada approached with the news that his man, Umaga, was just the resource they were looking for. Does this mean that Umaga is going to be in the McMahons corner at SummerSlam?

Someone else who will apparently do anything for a victory is Mick Foley. Foley appeared on the TitanTron and didn’t look like he was in the arena. He extended an invite to Ric Flair to show up on ECW on Sci Fi – Foley’s old stomping grounds – where the Hardcore Legend promised to be “competing in an event so extreme it has never been done in my career.”

But Flair didn’t have to wait for ECW because Foley got into the ring during the Nature Boy’s match with Intercontinental Champion Johnny Nitro to unleash an ambush. The Hardcore Legend nearly crushed Flair’s head with the steel steps before retreating to the locker room with his two friends, Nitro and Melina. Will Flair accept Foley’s invitation and show up on ECW on Sci Fi? How will this beating affect Flair for his “I Quit” Match with the Hardcore Legend at SummerSlam?

Jeff Hardy will be making his triumphant return to RAW next Monday night for the first time since his release in May of 2003. How will the refocused Hardy fare against today’s Superstars of RAW?

The Spirit Squad were in action against “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan and Eugene in a non-title match. The numbers game was in the Squad’s favor until the Highlanders made their way to the ring. Rory and Robbie McAllister have only one loss in the tag team division, and it was because the Spirit Squad used their numbers to overwhelm them in a World Tag Team Championship Match. On RAW, the Highlanders got some payback, sneaking into the ring when the referee was distracted to hit Mikey with the Scot Drop to give Eugene and Duggan the victory.

Also, the 2006 $250,000 Diva Search is down to the final three. Milena Roucka was voted out on RAW, but immediately afterwards the final three competed against three RAW Divas in a Diva Beat the Heat Water Fight. The RAW Divas were declared the winners via fans applause. (Read about Diva Search Beat the Heat l Read Milena's comments)

Thanks for the results. For something that was suppose to be a big hype going into SummerSlam, last night's RAW was one of the WORST shows I've seen in a long time!!!

ECW on Sci-Fi Results: 8-15-06

Sabu steals the show
By Jen Hunt
August 15, 2006

ECW's Main Event on Tuesday was full of unexpected surprises. The Triple Threat Ladder Match lost a participant and after weeks of suffering Sabu's surprise attacks, Big Show inadvertently helped the Suicidal, Homicidal, Genocidal, Death-Defying Maniac win a chance at him and his ECW World Title at SummerSlam.

The main event became a Ladder Match between Sabu and Rob Van Dam after Paul Heyman announced that Kurt Angle would not be able to compete due to a groin injury he received last week. Although Angle had been trying to keep the injury a secret, Heyman said, "I have to protect Kurt Angle from himself."

Sabu and RVD showed that each would do anything to win the match for a chance at the ECW World Title and put their bodies on the line. RVD took a breathtaking leap for the contract dangling above the ring from the top of the turnbuckle, but came up short and Sabu almost broke his opponent's neck when he gave him an Arabian Face Buster on the steel ladder.

After several failed attempts to make it to the top of the ladder, RVD looked like he had the match won. With the contract just inches away from his fingers, and Sabu nowhere to be seen, Big Show ran in, pulled him off the ladder, and slammed him through a ringside table.

The ECW World Champion then ordered the contract to be lowered to him. It became clear that Big Show and Heyman had a plan in place to get Big Show out of defending the ECW World Title at SummerSlam. Heyman had already taken Angle out of the equation, and now Big Show looked primed to take out RVD and Sabu and retrieve the SummerSlam contract for himself.

But Sabu jumped on him from the top rope. Big Show caught him by the legs and was poised to hit Sabu with a power bomb. Sabu was able to keep his focus, though, and grabbed the contract while he was up in the air before Big Show brought him crashing to the ground, winning the match and an opportunity at Big Show and the ECW World Title at SummerSlam.

Big Show, furious that he was not able to stop Sabu, picked him and and gave him a thunderous chokeslam. The champ then went over to RVD, dragged him into the ring and gave him a devastating chokeslam as well. But through the pain, Sabu was still clutching the sacrificed his body for.

Right before the match, Heyman was seen talking with Big Show and his Private Security Force when out of nowhere, Kurt Angle attacked them and brutalized Heyman's goons. Obviously beyond enraged about being put on medical suspension, Angle then attacked Big Show, but a mob of police officers came running up and took the Olympic Gold Medalist down. Undeterred, Angle gave Big Show a headbutt to the chest as he was taken away in handcuffs and Heyman yelled out, "I'm going to crucify you!"

Earlier in the evening, Tuesday night kicked off with Hardcore Legend Mick Foley in the ring saying that Ric Flair would not be able to accept his invitation to the show because he was home recuperating from the beating Foley gave him Monday on RAW. Foley took the opportunity to say that he has never quit because he would think less of himself if he did. Foley went on to send a message to Flair to bring his "A" game to SummerSlam, but vowed that he would win because the letters "I q u i t" are not in his vocabulary.

Foley then told the ECW fans that he would live up to his promise and do something extreme; something he had never done before, and he asked Kelly Kelly and RAW's Melina to join him. The gorgeous ladies came out and Foley said that they were going to do an ECW original: a Three Way Dance. But instead of the bell ringing and the three beating the hell out of each other as most ECW fans are accustom to with a Three Way Dance, the sound of music hit the air and the three literally danced.

Some of the dancing was sexy, some of it was awkward, and okay, some of it was down right goofy, but before they could finish, the "Nature Boy" came running out. After hitting Foley with two low blows and throwing him into the stairs, he took his belt and choked Foley who had blood spewing from his mouth. Flair grabbed the microphone and told the Hardcore Legend that he would make him quit at SummerSlam before storming off.

Later that night, Mike Knox and partner Test made quick work of Little Guido and Tony Mamaluke from the FBI when they faced each other in a tag team match. After a hefty beating, Test won the match when he hit Mamaluke with a spinning neck breaker for the pinfall.

Knox and Test celebrated their victory, but not for long. Tommy Dreamer and Sandman - with his trusty Singapore cane - crashed the party and ran them out of the ring. The ecstatic crowd cheered "ECW" when they saw the ECW originals. Sandman took several swings with his cane, but could not reach them. Knox and Test retreated to the back, with Knox holding his girlfriend Kelly Kelly in front of him the whole time as a human shield.

CM Punk defeated Justin Credible in their rematch after he claimed Punk's victory over him two weeks ago was a fluke. Punk is not only drug and alcohol free, but his win Tuesday night keeps him loss free as well. Much like in his ECW debut, Punk showed off his Brazilian Jujitsu and Muay Thai skills as he hit Credible with several impressive punches and flying kicks. In the end, Credible tapped out when Punk got him in an Anaconda Vice submission hold.

ECW fans caught another glimpse of Shannon Moore this week, who had this message: "Question Authority."

Rene Dupree also made an appearance, and took a moment from his photoshoot to share a message as well.

"I'm the most beautiful man in sports-entertainment," said Dupree. "But I'm going to prove to everyone that I'm the most hardcore wrestler to step in the ring."

A blessing in disguise for some?

source: WWE.com

The final edition of "Friday Night SmackDown!" on UPN will air on Friday, August 25th. Although, Smackdown won't officially debut on the new CW Network until Friday, Sept. 22, so that could mean a three week hiatus of the program for people in certain locations. SmackDown will continue to air in the meantime, however, it will only be available in five selected markets, not to mention a national cable station.

During this three week hiatus, the show will continue to air on New York/WPIX, Los Angeles/KTLA, Washington D.C./WDCW, Houston/KCHW, Hartford, Conn./WTXX - usually on Saturday nights. If you don't live in any of those areas, you can catch "Friday Night SmackDown!" on Superstation WGN on national cable on Saturday nights at 11:30 p.m. This situation will last from September 2nd to September 16th. Also note, the September 2nd show will only be one hour for some unknown reason. That goes for all stations airing SmackDown that night.

Sign of the night:"RVD Sell Me a Sack".

Sabu must be still on the chronic because he hasn't fucked up like that in a while. The truck in the back must've done a lot of editing to hide the "You fucked up" chants.
