Yeah, maybe. Sad but true.

Nothing changed. Still Superloose has to comment and reopen his personally box of blind hate towards the NG-web-community of his native country. His unworthy behavior seems to have reached new levels since he was banned from Daddelkingz. Well, I think even he knows, that most of our review pics are made with Neo Geo CDs. But I hope everybody enjoyed our review of Last Hope. It's free for all :chimp:

No, you cannot access to the ingame menu
with unibios you only get a crappy intro screen full of rare sprites, then you go to the disclaimer of copyright.
Boss lev 3 reached... I consider myself pretty good at shooters, but i'm becoming absolutely crazy with this one, is really, really hard as hell... even in super easy mode...
still thinking explosions and bullets are too similar... shit that's just a pity... changing the color of the bullets would have been easy!!!

Can those long 'snakes' be damaged or even destroyed?
They show no reaction to your ships fire in the video...:(

Anybody got through that narrow passages with that blue-laser-crossfire?

And is there a way to change the ships speed?

Well my game came in today! Lucky Number 13 man! I am so excited about this game I wanted to share some of it with you. So without further adue, here are some small videos I made to let you all hear and see a bit of what you either missed out on, or what you have yet in store.

NOTE: The videos I made didnt capture the 60 frames a second that this game runs at so it might look somewhat choppy as the real game runs fluent as silk! Plusmore these videos are DIVX and heavily compressed IMO and looks kinda pixelized. But its the best I can do unless you want pure uncompressed AVI files which are HUGE in size. And one more thing the sound is very low so turn your speakers up to hear this. I recorded bits of the game (the Intro, a bit of Stage 1, stage 2 mainly I died and let people just listen to some of the stage 2 music plus you can see the scrore screen and see how it is set up, then a bit of another stage. 4 Demos in all. Enjoy and remember this is heavily compressed, running at a slower framerate than the game, so when you see a jerky moving planet just remember its not normally like that. :) etc..etc.. in other words THIS GAME OWNS!! Thank you Neo Dev Team for such a beautiful New Neo-Geo game! I am soo sorry for saying your insert sucks. You can make any insert you wanna make just bring us more of these! I love it!

MegaUploads links.

Another Stage

enjoy the new video clips and music to the game. I know I am!!

Thanks a lot, Fakk - much appreciated.

I enjoyed the videos, and I like the general atmosphere of the game. Great music - especially the first stage.

I finally gave up and just recorded the demos in the game. :P But im glad ya like it. I personally love this game. It looks awesome on the real deal. next time there is a Neo gathering at Droids house Im bringing this game for sure.

You should use virtual dub or nandub.
why ? it s a free program with assembly code for speed critical parts, heavily optimized, you can resize your preview window, it works with most capture devices and it can record at 60fps. I used that to record speedruns of Metroid Prime on the cube and it works like a charm without frame drops, i used it to record LD movies to the pc (for example Starwars movies and Indy movies before they made it to DVD).
You can compress on the fly with that too (you can compress to xvid/mp3 directly for example if your computer is powerful enough). Anyway, thanks for the videos :)

I suggested using VirtualDub as well but he said that there might be some compatibility issues, though there really shouldn't be since input is input.

Did you have to provide your own snap-lock case and cart shell, Fakk?

today Ill check out the program you guys speak of.

and yes, Provided my own cart shell and snaplock aes case, I have plenty of them so I figured why not get a discount. I allmost bought 2 of them, but I need other things right now like a nice 1K Sony Blu-Ray Disc Player to replace some of my older but awesome LaserDiscs, so I only bought one and at a discount price :P

I know Im a cheap ass nowadays, but oh well...

Hell, I wish I knew, yesterday we had power outages all day long in the Palmdale/Lancaster area and somehow it wiped out all my emails that were stored on my HD. So all my reciepts and stuff from paypal that were in my email are wiped out. I'll go check my PayPal account real fast and see...

It says it was 478 EURO I sent to them which equalls out to $619.88 so basically I sent them $620 plus my AES cart and case that I chose. It cost me about ~$25 to send them the game, maby a little less like $20 I think. So all in all it wasnt as expensive as some may think it is, and its a hell of alot of fun to play something new and kick ass on my Neo-Geo AES. (It reminds me of the Merry Christmas video tiptonium made with the guy in a reindeer outfit singing about the Neo-Geo games..... when they come, I'll buy them....when they come) I would buy from them anytime in the future, and I will. Anytime they make another Neo game Im gonna be the first one in line. If this game is any indication of thier talent, then I believe we are all in for a real treat. And if you cannot get AES just wait for the Dreamcast release or NeoCD. They outta be great as well PLUS better sounding music tracks due to raw redbook audio on the NeoCD. :)

Well back to play my New AES game! I hope I can pass level 2 today. :) This is the Hardest Shooter Ive played in years! Pulstar eat your OLD heart out! hehehe (na, dont get me wrong, Im just joking, Pulstar is still a masterpiece, just OLD now tis all)

EDIT: My God! I have been playing level 2 now for awhile trying to beat it, and man do I feel more and more like a retard for putting down this game so much! I havent felt this good about a New Neo-Geo release since Pulstar and Metal Slug 3! Everytime I think the game is ok I notice more and more detail to the tiny little things and it gets more and more intense after awhile I was just staring at the backgrounds and its awesome use of colors and movement in certain areas is really impressive.
Im also SHOCKED its so low in Meg count, I just cant believe this game is less than 200 Megs! Yes I grew up with the Neo and back in the day Meg count was a BIG DEAL! (remember Sega Genesis's first big games, Strider was 8 full megs of power and a first on any console! the we got Super SF2 16 Megs and so forth) so yes to this very day I look at that meg count and smile, memories... anywas where was I ... Oh yeah!
I know Im a strange bastard but, when I go to the movies Im the type of person who enjoys pretty much any movie (if its decent, and no I am NOT talking about Broken Backs on top of Mountains, lol) as long as the Popcorn is really buttery and good, or even the Nachos for that matter, if they are kickass Nachos the movie is basically secondary for me. lol, I know its crazy. Well for me, when playing Last Hope I am enjoying the graphics and music so much the I get over the fact its homebrew and it feels just perfect to me. The whole homebrew idea is secondary to me now and the game music, graphics, and playibility are first. They are my Buttery popcorn and kickass Nachos. I know it sounds crazy, but the game feels 99% non homebrew to me, and actually give me more fun than anything Ive played from Playmore/Delaymore/Gheymore or Mega, or Eolith.

I know what I just typed sounds a bit crazy, but after playing this game for so long now and not sleeping much and this hot ass heat, Im going insane. lol

My Verdict is: The game is fantastic and you need to actually play it before passing judgement on this game and the people that made it for us.

Bravo Neo Dev Team, my hats off to you! You surpassed anything I ever thought was possible after the death of the Neo! 2D Continues to live on, Yaa Hoo!

So, yesterday I ended up meeting up for coffee with a guy who owns a complete Neo collection. In fact he was one of the first guys I knew to have a complete collection, he'd mentioned it ages ago on the old Yahoo Club, but never shoved it in anyone's face or anything. Needless to say, money isn't a huge issue when his collection is concerned.

I asked him what he thought about Last Hope. He said, "is it official". I said "No, but it's $700." He laughed and said pass with zero interest.

What can $700 buy you? Something better, that's for damn sure.

I will be curious to see the percentage of Last Hope buyers who also purchase PS3s at launch :smirk:

Yeah, it's fun making fun of all of you because you are, IMO, the members of our hobby with no idea how to spend money (which is quite a statement, considering the nature of the hobby in general).

No.

Because there is a difference between talking down on the quality of the game and critisizing Neo Dev's pricing and general idea of business.

hmmm I dont think you quite get it, its not about it being non official or official. Its about it being on the Neo-Geo and having quality like all Neo-Geo games have. I dont consider Neo-Geo a hobby, never did. I just love the Neo-Geo for its great games, controllers, style, and fun. It is the most fun I have had on any console.

and yep, Im buying the PS3 upon launch no doubt, Im saving up for an SXRD right now just for the PS3. :)

Fair enough for considering buying a new game, but what about his existing games? Apply that logic and he'd sell most of them and buy a small community in Detroit.

It's just too much to pay for an unofficial game, or any game at all, for that matter. Normally collectors pay outrageous prices for AES games because they are official products that were printed in very small quantities. A homebrew title may be in low quantities, but you never know how many carts they'll sac in the future to make more, and the fact that it's basically just homemade, made from other parts, decreases the collectability in my opinion. I'm hoping the CD release will be no more than $60.
