Companies that have fell the fuck off in the last 2-4 years.

Sega, when was their last big game, seriously?

Capcom, besides resident evil, where are their games besides retro collections?

Also add namco and konomi to the list, soul calibur is tired, and metal gear solid is only one game, where is everything else?

Sega: Virtua Fighter 4 Evo, and VF5

Capcom has made Killer 7, and RE4.

Namco and Konami is kinda meh.... but at least 2D metroidvania's are good :)

Quality over Quantity I say.

DashK in my opinion has fell the fuck off. His quality Subway posts have fallen from 1 a week in 2003 to 0 in 2006.

Namco deffo, what games do they even make, I got bored of Soul etc & Tekken last century.

How about Hudson Soft, how many genres can they squeeze Bomberman into....and to think years ago they were one of the best 1st party publishers Japan had seen let alone on other consoles.

Sega? I actually liked the new Altered Beast.

Spartan: Total Warrior is easily the most demanding game on the PS2. What DW and the like could have/ should have been. Underrated. You have to hunt for the good titles.

The also have Virtua Fighter 5 in the works.

I only really know Namco for the Tekken series and Time Crisis. (aside from the game you mentioned). Their working on Tekken 6 right now which will suffice, the game is highly popular and it has to compete with VF5. We all know we haven't seen the last of Pac-man.

Capcom are constantly releasing games, I'm playing though Devil King's at the moment - they have plenty to work with though. DMC, the Onimusha series, RE, SF. Every now and then they bring us a gem like Viewtiful Joe. What has made them fall?

I think Konami and Capcom have still got it, and Rockstar gets my vote for rookie of year (generation).

Capcom has Lost Planet coming out soon for the 360. Judging from the demo and E3 trailer, that game will probably rock everything Capcom has ever done. Capcom is also bringing out Dead Rising for the 360, which looks to be pretty awesome.

I haven't really kept up with what Sega's been putting out. I only know there's going to be a new Sonic game for the 360 and PS3. Who knows how that one will turn out, though.

Namco has basically settled to pay its bills with three series, Ridge Racer, Tekken, and Soul Calibur, neither of which I really care about. The same can be said about Konami and its Metal Gear and Castlevania series. Although I'm still digging Castlevania, I can't say the same for Metal Gear.

Actually, if you think about it, most of the big companies are just banking on their big-titled series and pretty much nothing else. Square has been putting out almost nothing but Final Fantasy, and now it looks like Kingdom Hearts will be its second meal ticket. EA seems to be the only company that has consistently brought out a pretty diverse lineup. But then again, it's easy to do so if you're the biggest third-party publisher in the world.

"have fallen."

Just in case DashK has an English test sometime this week.

And part of the Sega thing is the merger with Sammy. That's how Sega ends up having their name on Iron Phoenix.

Between 88-93 lots of companies were pouring out games with no problem. I don't think people are saying these companies aren't making hits, it's just that they're few and far between.

-Never played KOFXI

Developers were making games that could be played within a couple hours time long ago, and if they put out a mediocre game you would say, "That games kinda cool, no biggie", but now with these 40 hour+ games nobody wants to sit through something mediocre. I'm sure smaller devs are pouring out tons of mediocre games, it's just that nobody will want to play them now because they are too large in scale. That, and you have to spill 50$ to play them rather than taking a game for a test drive for 25 cents in an arcade. The larger companies are still making more games than we realize, but they aren't being published in the USA. The importers are missing them as well because the games are being published on cell phones, etc.

Taito.

Shadow Hearts series. Good stuff.

But that's about the extent of it, I guess.

are you serious?
Konami: has made mgs 3, substance, and Winning Eleven series

namco: in japan namco x capcom, other than that framce city killer was cancelled, and i don't know if namco/bandai has been making a living out of soul calibur, i don't know much about their ip's, however i believe they also own bandai, and hudson, if im not mistaken.

capcom: has god hand coming out for ps2 pretty much anything from mikami and/or clover studios is pretty awesome, RE 4 sold well on ps2, and dead rising is looking well.

sega: condemned, golden axe is coming out in the future, as well as the sonic games, plus they own football manager in europe (which sells very well), among other projects.

if anything banpresto in japan makes pretty mediocre games outside from what i heard about the new dragon ball game and the super robot taisen series

in america midway wasn't doing games that were good up until Shaolin Monks if you ask me.

im surprised thq didn't go broke, i guess destroy all humans helped them a lot.

outside of SNK, the other one that comes to mind, is Acclaim.

Sega, Treasure, Capcom (WHO DID NOT MAKE KILLER7 -- look up Grasshopper Studios; sure Mikami had a hand, but c'mon), Konami (FUCK IGA and his boring piece of shit Castlevanias), etc.

Nothing's as good as it is when you're a kid.
I was going to list Nintendo, but I haven't played New SMB yet, which really does look like fun.

Midway also made 2 Suffering games. They actually were pretty good. Very good. They introduced one of my favorite characters to grace survival horror, Dr. Killjoy. But true to it, they don't make too many things, these days. Had some stinker games in there, as well. I really really can't believe what they did with L.A. Rush. I was worried about that game, but it seems they made it worse than I feared it would turn out. I know they have to have some guys that know how to make a proper Rush game. The new Narc is also a nice example of how they shouldn't treat a license.

Oddly enough, since I think they're through with The Suffering as a series, I'm basically just waiting for whatever good arcade pack they can put out. (Please, some Strike Force. That's all I ask.)

I'll say one company that has fallen way off the map:

Sunsoft

Back in the NES days, these guys were as good as gold. Then during the SNES days they had MAYBE 1 or 2 good titles. Now they just plain suck. Sad to see the makers of Blaster Master and Batman on the NES have gone to crap.

THQ is far from going broke, the WWE Smackdown series have finished in the top 10 for years now.

Kingdom Hearts is supposedly done for on consoles anyway, but Ill believe that when I see it.

Didnt Monolith make Condemned or something, and Sega published it? I cant remember if SEGA owns them (or if someone else made it, them) or not.

And Jeff, Substance is basically an expansion to MGS3, its not like its a new game. And, for me, neither were that great. MGS1 was great, 2 was bleh, 3 was just boring. Castlevania is still fun, the 2d ones anyway

Yeah, a real shame. They declared bankruptcy a few years ago and now they only make pachinko machines.
Though I never played them, I did hear good things about Aero the Acrobat and Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel during their SNES days.
Sucks that they left off on a bad note, if I had to guess, then I'd say Blaster Master: Blasting Again for the PS1 was their last.
