can someone point me to the FAQ on doing the +5v only mod on your consolized 2 slot?

been searching...can't find it. I know there was a good picture up that was with a picture of where to get stereo sound off of the bottom of a board too. I just can't find the two pictures..or the FAQ.

thanks

There are Three Pins on the Voltage Regulator IC...

+12v in
Ground
+5v out.

Wire a +5 volt line from the PSU/PCB to the +5v out on the VREG PCB.

To FIND THE +5V out pin:

Use continutity test to find the ground and +12v in (from the jamma Harness). The other pin is the +5v out.

OR

Run the PCB as normal....

Use voltage test on a Multimeter to find the +5 in pin.

For bottom sound:

Take it from the Solder Joints of the headphone connector (not the Communications jack). Or follow the traces.

I ussualy just desolder the Headphone connector and do it from the top.

Remove the 7805 and make a bridge between the main and the secondary 5v rails.

The cleanest way to do it is:

1) Desolder the 7805 (if you can't desolder just wiggle it until it comes off):

2) Take a small flathead screwdriver and scratch off the solder mask on this trace (in that exact point):

3) Tin the exposed copper and make a bridge with the leg of the capacitor:

That's it.

Hello.

i have a mv-2f but with the dips on the front.
the +5v bridge is diffrent on this board.

can someone tell me what this is?
please show me with a photo or something else.

If you have a multimeter you can just check (or visually trace) the lines.

If you take a picture of your hand, I can print it out and hold it for you....

No Seriously....

Take the thirteenth pin on the solder side, Find the corresponding point on the parts side (Just to the lower left of the printed "P1" text)

Follow that trace (USE A MULTIMETER) under the SFIX chip. I think it terminates at one of those resisters above the SFIX chip. Again, USE A MULTIMETER.

MKL might know a better place. I will defer to him.

Also:
Where are you pulling the RGB lines from?

i was planning on pulling the rgb from the resistors on the right (just above the jamma connectors) of the parts side. the 8.2k one.

if you have a better idea please let me know.

You sound a bit confused about the whole matter.

The red/green/blue jacks that you see on the back of consolized units aren't for RGB but for component. The yellow one is indeed composite but all of them are wired to some video encoder (like neobitz or JROK), not directly to the MVS board. Since you're in Europe you don't need that because scart TVs can take RGB. So your question should be about sync, not composite, and you can in fact tap it from the common point of the 470 and 100 ohm resistors above the SFIX, as suggested.

Actually I would tap it from a different point as I showed here but your board is different and I can't tell where a corresponding point is. Try the other point first, if it doesn't work we'll see.

I thinking i starter on the wrong foot.
Rgb is scart but i thought it was
THE red blue green.. Man i'm dumb.
But is composite not better then scart?
I will search for à scart layout so
That i can connect connect the wires to the
Scart female connector.

No composite is just about the worst signal you can feed your tv.
RGB > Component > S-Video > Composite.
RGB being the best signal you can get and composite the worst.

Are you talking about Composite Sync? Or Composite Video?

Either way, I do believe that you should wire the sync to the composite video pin on the SCART connector, as most Euro TV's use that pin to grab the comp sync.

Anyways, SCART is not a signal, it is a connector. A connector that can do RGB/Svideo/Composite. What signal it uses, depends on how it is wired/configured.

im sorry. but im a little confussed. i thought it was easy but now i found out is isnt.

i need to tell you guys what i want. i think that is the easiest....

i want my mv-2f (with the dips at the front) have a connetion so i can play the games
on my tv.

i thought the best way was the connect the red,blue and red to my tv.
but now i find out the best way is scart.

so now i know what the secondary 5v is ( see message above)
but now i got the manual. can't find the yellow connection. i already got the audio and 5v power part in.

i found a diagram of the scart but i dont understand the diagram.
scartdiag.gif

-but what is a 12v switch?
-audio outright and left ? is this audio ground?
-what is rgb blank?
-composite video out and video ground, is this the same?

-where can i find my yellow component connection? (see big photos to see what kind of board i have, or what pin it is.
-can i connect all the ground wires to one on the scart connector?

i hope i can learn so much i can finish this and make a good manual so other people can use this on this site to make there own mv-2f mvs console.

just call me the idiot.:hammer::hammer:

Well let's start with the easy questions.

What type of connections does your TV have for inputs?

If it has SCART then I'd recommend you use SCART as it will be the best picture quality possible. If it has component which is the 3 red, green and blue jacks then that would be the next best one. but since you are in Holland you most likely have SCART so you should use that.

If you are using SCART you do not need a video encoder since SCART uses pure RGB.

You don't need to connect all those pins all you need is:

5, 9, 13, 17, 18, 21(shell) = Ground
20 = Sync
15 = Red
11 = Green
7 = Blue
6 = Audio Left
4 = Audio Ground (Can connect with other grounds)
2 = Audio Right

8 = +5v
16 = +5v with 180ohm resistor

For the RGB lines from the mobo you might want to put some 500ohm pots inline so you can adjust the brightness of the RGB level.
