I'm planning on getting myself a Naomi 2 setup, mostly for Virtua Fighter 4 FT. Anyhow, I'm completely new to this system and need some advise on what I'll need to get it running with my Supergun. It is my understanding that I can use a low-res monitor, so I guess I'm all set there. However, I'm really confused about what kind of I/O board I'm going to use. The VF4 FT kit I'm buying comes with the Sega I/O, but I've heard the Capcom one is better in some cases, due to it drawing the 3.3 volts from the regular power supply. If it makes any difference, I plan on buying both carts and GD Roms, mostly Sega stuff. Would a Capcom I/O still require the use of an additional PSU for the GD-ROM? Thanks.

With a Naomi 2 & GD-Rom attachment using a Sega (version 1) I/O Board you'd also require a seperate PSU & Sound Amp.

Using a Capcom I/O there's a good chance you can power the Naomi 2 & GD-Rom without anything extra.. assuming your Supergun's PSU can handle the load. The Capcom I/O also uses a CPS2 style Kick-Harness, which might make it easier to play those 6-Button games.

Sega-Naomi.com has a lot more info about the various hardware & games if you need anymore help with it.

Cool thanks. I'm actually using a SuperNova, which uses an actual arcade PSU, so maybe I'm in luck. Now I just gotta track down a Capcom I/O board. Btw, is it possible to burn backups of Naomi GD-Roms?

I don't really recomend powering a GD and naomi2 through the capcom I/O board. Sure it works and everything but the thing heats up enough for you to burn yourself if you touch it. Can't be healty but it could also be just my I/O board.

Better to just hack an ATX-PSU.

Ditto

Although people have used the capcom IO to power an N2 GDrom setup, it WILL eventually cause the IO to fail. There was a longish post about this on sega-naomi when it was on pro-boards.
