WWE.com's Wireless service sent the following announcement to subscribers at 5:24 p.m. EST: "From the Office of the Chairman of the Board of WWE: The Backlash main event will be Cena vs. Triple H vs. Edge in a Triple Threat for the WWE Championship." For the past two weeks, TV advertisements for the Backlash PPV have hinted at a re-match between Cena and Hunter.

Edge is without a program following his victory over Mick Foley at WrestleMania, but his strong run as champion in January gave WWE confidence in him as a main event player. In his latest blog on WWE.com, Mick Foley praised Edge for his work at Mania. "Edge was tremendous," Foley wrote. "In my opinion, (although this might not be politically correct), Edge is the best heel in the business. His willingness to go all out in his first match of this type is an indication of his dedication to his craft."

Shawn Michaels and God vs. Vince McMahon and Shane McMahon is the only other scheduled match.

In the next PPV, Edge should get back the title from Cena. And have Edge has the main heel on RAW.

And as to Orton's suspension, it starts April 12. And the reason for his suspension, according to ewrestling,

"The PWTorch Newsletter reports that Randy Orton has been fined by WWE multiple times for using the “C-word” to insult women behind the scenes in WWE, however has not taken it seriously. His attitude towards WWE’s rules and punishment is said to be what got him suspended this time.

"He's lucky he didn't get fired. He has a lot of growing up to do. It was just stupid - disrespectful to the boys and the company." Says one WWE source about his latest incident. "Undertaker despises him, and Ric Flair, Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, and even Triple H have grown tired of his act. They barely tolerate him."

Orton’s disrespectful treatment of women is said to be what has turned most people backstage against him. As previously reported, he is the most disliked person in the locker room right now.

Breaking New Ground
April 7, 2006

As the road to WrestleMania 23 begins, it was a night of firsts as Friday Night SmackDown emanated from Peoria, Ill.

On SmackDown, Rey Mysterio made his first-ever defense of the World Heavyweight Championship against Randy Orton. Leading up to the match, several moments were shown highlighting Rey’s path to the top. As Orton stood backstage stretching, he was approached by Kurt Angle. After telling Angle that he would help him find the World Heavyweight Championship, the Legend Killer was surprised when the Wrestling Machine slapped him twice across the face.

In the match itself, Rey took control early, using an uncharacteristic mat attack to ground Orton. Rey then sent Orton to the floor, where he hit a seated senton onto the challenger. Back in the ring, Rey got a two count, but Orton took control with a backbreaker shortly after. For the remainder of the match, the Legend Killer cockily pounded his smaller opponent, thwarting all of the champion’s comeback attempts. At one point, Mysterio tried to springboard off the apron, but an Orton dropkick sent him crashing to the floor. However, Rey managed to kick Orton coming off the top rope, and the champion was able to regain control. After hitting another seated senton, Mysterio hit a modified reverse DDT and went to the top rope, but got caught coming down with a dropkick. Randy then set up for the RKO, but Mysterio avoided it with a spin kick. After Orton charged into the steel post, Mysterio hit a pair of 619s and then Dropped Da Dime on the Legend Killer to pick up the victory. After the bout, Kristal caught up with Rey backstage, who said that he would keep proving the naysayers wrong as he shared the moment with his family.

SmackDown also saw the first appearance of a monstrous newcomer. Prior to his match with Undertaker, Mark Henry said that after passing out in the casket at WrestleMania, he saw a vision that Undertaker would suffer a similar fate. Throughout the match, it looked like a false vision, as the Deadman dominated Henry. At one point, the match spilled outside the ring, and Undertaker rammed Henry into the ring steps. As they brawled, Daivari led an unknown giant out to the ring. The man stood over 7-feet tall, and he stared down the Deadman. Undertaker got back into the ring to confront him, but his punches had no effect. Daivari’s charge nailed the Deadman with a monstrous chop and laid Undertaker out with repeated headbutts to the back of his head. Undertaker was left lying beaten in the ring as everyone in the arena wondered who this new monster was.

In addition, Gunner Scott got his first SmackDown victory, upsetting Booker T. Prior to the match, Booker T showed Teddy Long a restraining order on the Boogeyman, preventing him from coming within 100 feet of Booker or Sharmell. Booker was all smiles as he headed to the ring for the match, but he seemingly underestimated Scott. The newcomer gave Booker a run for his money early in the match, but the former United States Champion soon took firm control. Just as Booker looked to finish Scott off, Boogeyman’s music suddenly played in the arena. As Booker & Sharmell looked around confused, Scott used the distraction to his advantage, rolling up Booker to get the upset pinfall. Theodore Long then came out to apologize to Booker, but after he did, the General Manager reaffirmed that Scott was the winner of the match.

That wasn’t Long’s only announcement of the night. Before the main event, Long gathered Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, Randy Orton, Booker T, Matt Hardy, Bobby Lashley and Finlay in the locker room, where he announced the return of the King of the Ring tournament. The tournament will start next week, and the first opening-round match will pit Kurt Angle against Randy Orton.

Chris Benoit may have some business to attend to next week as well, based on the activity after his match. After Benoit defeated Simon Dean, a video played highlighting great Americans of the past. It was soon learned that JBL was behind it, as his face was superimposed onto Mount Rushmore. The video hailed JBL as one of the greatest Americans in history, and said that next week there would be a celebration for JBL’s United States Championship victory at WrestleMania 22.

Also on SmackDown, Paul London & Brian Kendrick made a statement by defeating WWE Tag Team Champions MNM in a non-title match. Before the match began, London & Kendrick interrupted MNM’s entrance, pulling Melina off the apron in the middle of her split. They then took the fight to MNM for several minutes before a referee distraction allowed Melina to trip Kendrick as he ran the ropes. The champions then proceeded to cut Kendrick off from his partner, dominating the match. Kendrick actually had Nitro pinned with a small package, but referee Jim Korderas was again distracted and MNM took control once again. Kendrick was also able to break free and tag London at one point, but again Korderas was distracted and he disallowed the tag. Finally, Kendrick escaped a double suplex attempt and tagged London, and the former Cruiserweight Champion cleaned house on MNM. London hit the dropsault for a two count, but his attack on Mercury was thwarted when Nitro dropped him neck-first on the ropes. MNM tried the Snapshot, but London was able to escape, and a brawl broke out. In the end, London was up on the top rope, but Melina pushed him off, and London appeared to injure his leg. Mercury then tried to follow up with a Boston crab, but London reversed it into a rollup to get the surprising pinfall.

Plus, Paul Burchill defeated William Regal once again. Before the match, Regal offered to call off the bout if Burchill agreed to stop dressing like a buccaneer. Burchill refused, but made Regal an offer: if Regal won the match, he would change his wardrobe; however, if Burchill won, Regal would have to dress as he saw fit. Regal agreed, and Burchill told him he would look good dressed as a buxom wench. It will soon be seen if that is true or not, as while Regal dominated the match, Burchill ended up victorious, pinning Regal following a backflip uranage slam. Regal was unhappy after the match, begging Burchill for reprieve, but the English scoundrel will now have to honor his word.

Matches
World Heavyweight Champion Rey Mysterio def. Randy Orton
Paul London & Brian Kendrick def. WWE Tag Team Champions MNM (Non-Title Match)
Undertaker vs. Mark Henry (No Contest)
Chris Benoit def. Simon Dean
Gunner Scott def. Booker T
Paul Burchill def. William Regal

TNA Impact! Results: 4-8-06

- We began with clips from last week's pool attack on Christian. Mike Tenay said Sting would speak live in Orlando for the first time since retiring. Tenay said no one has heard from Christian Cage since the pool incident.

1 -- ABYSS (w/James Mitchell) vs. A.J. STYLES

Tenay billed this as a PPV-quality match. He reminded us that this was the main event at last year's Lockdown PPV. Yes, that was a good match. Abyss avoided the dropsault sequence and stomped on Styles's back. Abyss did too much showboating and Styles caught him with the dropsault. He snapped off a huricanrana. Styles and Abyss fumbled around in an awkward exchange. Abyss applied a neck vice. It looked as if Abyss could have snapped Styles's neck in half if he wanted to.

[Commercial Break]

Abyss shoved his boot into Styles's face right out of the break. Mitchell called for the end. Styles avoided the Black Hole Slam and hit a side kick to the head. He followed up with a springboard fist smash to the head. Abyss countered the Styles Clash into the torture rack slam for a nearfall. Abyss missed a top rope splash. Styles hit the Pele soccer kick out of nowhere. He went up top, but Mitchell hooked him with his cane and crotched him on the top turnbuckle. Abyss threw him across the ring then went under the ring and grabbed a bag of thumbtacks. We cut to a backstage shot where Christian Cage drove up to the arena. He jumped out of his car with tire iron in hand. Christian slammed the tire iron into Abyss. Mitchell and Abyss scampered out of the ringside area. Christian gave chase, but rent-a-security people pulled Christian away.

After the brawl, Christian grabbed a mic and went into the ring. He answered Mitchell's request that he would put the NWA Title on the line at Lockdown against Abyss. He asked Abyss if he would be ready to die inside the cage at Lockdown. He said he was ready to die.

WINNER: No Contest in 8:00. Well, a PPV-quality match ended with no finish. No surprise there. Christian's return was handled well. He just needs to trade in the t-shirt for a dress shirt.

- Jeremy Borash was backstage with Team 3D. Ray and Devon were not pleased. Ray insulted Borash for not drinking enough beer. He told Team Canada to bury them underneath American red, white, and blue. He cut an anti-Canada promo before reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. Devon said his token one-liner.

[Commercial Break]

- Konnan and Homicide came to the ring for the arm wrestling contest. Bob Armstrong strutted to the ring with B.G. and Kip James. He showed off the guns before stepping into the ring. The referee tossed Homicide and the James Gang from the proceedings. Somehow, Bob is more over than half of the roster. Konnan stalled before getting ready. They locked up, but Konnan pulled away. He pulled away one more time. Konnan tried to pull away a third time, but Bob pulled him back to the contest. Konnan appeared to have it won, but Bob made his comeback and turned Konnan over. However, Hotstuff Hernandez ran into the ring and slapped Bob with the slapjack. He beat down Bob until the James Gang made the save.

[Commercial Break]

- Backstage, J.B. was with Larry Zbyszko. Borash made a hair joke. Zbyszko talked up the International X Cup tournament. Zbyszko said Daniels would face Jushin Liger at the Lockdown PPV. Well...nah. Slick Johnson interrupted and said he should referee the Daniels-Joe X Title match next Thursday. Zbyszko said he had it taken care of. Slick mentioned the "new guy coming in" per TNA management's request. Zbyszko didn't know what he was talking about.

- Before the Elix Skipper and David Young vs. Norman Smiley and Shark Boy match, Simon Diamond and Mike Tenay discussed the White Sox angle and national media coverage. Scott Steiner's music came on. Jeff Jarrett ran to the ring and told Tenay he was sick of them talk like auctioneers. Steiner and AMW destroyed all four men in the ring while Jarrett called the beat down action. Steiner placed Smiley in the Steiner Recliner. Jarrett said TNA hasn't given Steiner a contract. Well, in that case, Andy Douglas should file a negligence claim against TNA management for allowing a non-contracted wrestler to injure him on their watch. Also, in that case, if Steiner's working without a contract, that makes every other person in the arena eligible to participate in the action.

[Commercial Break]

- We saw a replay of Steiner's beat down on Smiley. Smiley was carted out of the arena on a stretcher as Shark Boy looked on.

2 -- ALEX SHELLEY vs. RODERICK STRONG vs. CHASE STEVENS

Stevens side stepped the pre-bell attacks from Strong and Shelley. Back in the ring, Strong landed a chop before Stevens retaliated with a back elbow smash. Stevens followed up with an atomic drop. Shelley caught Stevens with a back kick to the head. Strong lifted Stevens into the air before dropping him back-first across his knee. Strong and Shelley worked together on Stevens. They hit consecutive standing moonsaults and Shelley scored a nearfall. Shelley taunted Stevens. Strong went for the lift up back breaker again, but Stevens countered with a clothesline. Stevens made his comeback. He caught Shelley with a missile drop kick. Strong caught Stevens with a jawbreaker then a double foot kick to the head. Stevens caught Strong in the corner with the Alabama Slam. Strong came back with a superplex from the top turnbuckle. He applied the Walls of Jericho, but Shelley broke it up. Shelley hit the Sliced Bread #2 on Strong out of nowhere for the victory.

WINNER: Alex Shelley at 5:36. Of course, Strong did the job in his first match back. Pretty good action for five and a half minutes. They still need to give these guys some profile spots to add depth to the characters.

[Commercial Break]

- Mike Tenay said it was time to hear from Sting. The lights went out and Sting's music played. Sting said he doesn't want to beat a horse, but he wanted to repeat why he came back to wrestling. "I love wrestling; I love the wrestling fans," he said. He talked about Jeff Jarrett putting his personal life on film and television. Actually, that was that one guy, Alex Shelley. Sting said he came back to TNA to get his hands on Jarrett. He said he was one-upped at the last PPV because Jarrett had some artillery in the form of Steiner. Sting said the attack only stirred him up. He said he asked TNA management for a six sides of cage match. (I guess Zbyszko doesn't get to decide the important matches.) Sting said he received confirmation from management that there would be a top on the cage. He said he would reveal his partners for the four-on-four match next Thursday for the debut. Sting called for a match with Jarrett on Thursday. He said he one-upped Jarrett this week. He said he would take out anyone who challenged him on Thursday. Jarrett's music hit. Jarrett brought AMW and Steiner with him to the ring. They surrounded the ring before babyfaces ran to the ring to back up Sting. Jarrett and Co. retreated.

- They finished with quick clips on each of the major feuds heading into the Thursday debut next week.

More on Orton's suspension courtesy of Rob's Damn Board
Randy Orton was suspended by WWE this past week for 60 days following a major incident that only worsened his already poor backstage reputation. According to the Wrestling-Observer Newsletter, the final incident occurred at some point in Chicago. It is being called a "near disaster," and the feeling is that if Orton were not a top name, he would have been fired for his actions. But by no means was this an isolated incident. It was Orton's behavior that initially prompted WWE management to give Kurt Angle the title vacated by Batista.

And, while Orton avoided a suspension due to being booked for the WrestleMania main-event, an incident after No Way Out forced WWE to nix giving him the title at the 'Mania pay-per-view. These individual incidents only increased management's disapproval of Orton's behavior; he was specifically notorious for disrepecting female WWE workers.

Although the feeling is that by posting news of his suspension, WWE is practically confirming Randy Orton will come back, other insiders are not so sure that is the case and are even less sure that the suspension will be for only sixty days. There is already feeling within WWE that SmackDown needs to create a new top heel and a returning Ken Kennedy, already over with the fans, could receive the chance to fill that slot.

LCW Chairman of the Board Christian Calaway, who is also a WWE shareholder, said, "I really like Randy Orton when it comes to his in-ring ability and overall ability to entertain, but if his attitude and behavior backstage is causing problems he needs to be dealt with before it becomes a serious issue, or even a legal issue. This isn't the first time I've heard rumblings about his behavior backstage and I've even heard about confrontations with fans, but it is the first time I've heard of the WWE addressing the issue and I'm glad their taking it seriously."

Calaway also commented on the potential push of Ken Kennedy: "I hope so. He's amazing. Great in the ring, funny on the mic, great character. I always compare the kid to The Rock, he's a future Rock with the potential to be huge star, in so many ways. He's good looking, he's got personality, he's just a great talent all around. He's got what it takes to take himself to the next level if he's given the opportunity by WWE."

There has been some confusion as to the legitimacy of Orton's suspension. WWE announced the suspension before Friday Night Smackdown last week on which Orton appeared against Rey Mysterio, a show that was taped before the suspension was announced. During that taping, Orton was announced to take part in the King of the Ring tournament on next week's Friday Night Smackdown, which will tape on Tuesday, April 11th, one day before his suspension starts on Wednesday, April 12th. The match against Kurt Angle will air on Friday Night SmackDown on Friday, April 14th, two days after Orton's suspension is scheduled to begin. Randy Orton was removed from the schedule for the SmackDown house show events this weekend in Saginaw, MI and Grand Rapids, MI due to his suspension.

Cena answers with an STFU
April 10, 2006

Now both of John Cena’s Backlash opponents know what it feels like to tap out to the STFU.

One week after Triple H dropped John Cena with the Pedigree, The Champ returned the favor. A Handicap Match pitting Edge against both Cena and Triple H seemed all but over when The Game hit a Pedigree on Edge. But before the “King of Kings” could attempt a cover, tag team partner Cena blasted Triple H with the FU. The Champ then followed with an STFU to the Rated-R Superstar, who was forced to tap out. A furious Triple H looked on from outside the ring as this week on RAW, it was Cena standing over a fallen adversary in victory. At Backlash, this combustible battle for the WWE Championship will come to a head when Cena, Triple H and Edge clash in a Triple Threat Match.

In a highly unusual match at the pay-per-view on April 30, the McMahons will square off against Shawn Michaels & God. This week on RAW, Mr. and Shane McMahon went looking for HBK’s tag team partner at a local church. There, Mr. McMahon read his version of the 10 Commandments before declaring that at Backlash, he’d unleash the apocalypse on Michaels.

Also at Backlash, Carlito will take on former tag team partner Chris Masters. On RAW, Carlito requested a Master Lock Challenge. Then, he distracted “The Masterpiece” with an apple and smashed him with a chair rather than taking the submission challenge. Will Masters get payback at the pay-per-view, or will it be another “cool” result for Carlito?

In a rivalry that’s heating up, “Mr. Money in the Bank” Rob Van Dam exchanged challenges with Shelton Benjamin after a resounding, Five-Star victory over Rob Conway. Shelton wanted a match with the coveted briefcase on the line. RVD wanted a match for the Intercontinental Championship. What will happen next?

In a surprise twist, Trish Stratus gave Mickie James a taste of her own medicine on RAW. Mickie came out looking and acting exactly like Stratus yet again. But after Mickie defeated Maria with a Mick Kick, Trish ran to ringside dressed and acting exactly like Mickie James! Trish took her turn being an “obsessed fan,” who was so excited to be in the ring with Mickie. And the psycho Women’s Champion seemed totally perplexed by the turn of events.

History was also made on RAW as all five members of the Spirit Squad were deemed interchangeable World Tag Team Champions. In their first-ever championship defense, Nicky & Johnny battled Big Show & Kane in a rematch of sorts from RAW last week. But during the match, Kane completely snapped, tossing chairs in the ring and causing a disqualification. Kane then chokeslammed multiple members of the Spirit Squad and then the referee, as well. Big Show tried to calm him down, but he fell victim to a 500-pound chokeslam. Seeing the deranged Kane unleashed was almost as ominous as the exclusive footage shown from his upcoming film, “See No Evil,” in theaters everywhere on May 19.

Also, Armando Alejandro Estrada turned Umaga loose again. Umaga destroyed his opponent, finishing him with a scary-looking spike submission.

Randy Orton's downward spiral
April 12, 2006

Heading into WrestleMania last week, Randy Orton was on top of the world. The Legend Killer had earned a spot in the World Heavyweight Championship Match on the grandest stage of them all – an opportunity most Superstars only dream of. The next several days, however, were far from perfect for Orton.

Not only did the cocky youngster suffer the pinfall at the hands of Rey Mysterio at WrestleMania, but he was also pinned again by Mysterio just days later on SmackDown. To make matters even more humiliating, Randy Orton also learned that he was being suspended due to unprofessional conduct. Many believe that series of events can be categorized as Orton’s worst week of his young career.

Tuesday night at SmackDown from Green Bay, Randy Orton’s career unfortunately continued its downward spiral. Kurt Angle used his patented ankle lock to beat Orton in the first round of the King of the Ring tournament Tuesday night. After the match, The Wrestling Machine applied the hold several more times. As a result, Orton suffered a broken ankle.

At this time, little else is known about Orton’s injury. Be sure to check back here as more information becomes available.

I guess wrestlecrap.com already has an early contender for the 2006 Gooker Award in that Vince and Shane bit at a church. I really could've done w/o that, but I'm not surprised. I also wouldn't be surprised at Backlash if Michaels' partner happened to be JBL for is he "a wrestling god" afterall, which would probably setup a millionaire vs billionaire match at King of The Ring.

I like Kennedy. I think he has a bright future in the company. As such as I like Kennedy he shouldn't be Smackdown's head heel. It's too soon for Kennedy to have such a big position within the company. Hey, Atleast Kennedy will is better than Orton so the WWE is doing something right.

Ok ok.....I know im early but that fucking top rope island driver Joe gave Daniels was AWESOME. Sucks Joe won the belt yet again and will probably go on yet another monstrous win streak. Maybe JUST maybe Sabu will pin him....but then again now that I think about it maybe not.

1 -- CHRISTOPHER DANIELS vs. SAMOA JOE -- X Division Title match

We go straight to the middle of the X Division Title match with Daniels on the floor bleeding. They did rapid-fire clips from the first four minutes of the match while Daniels recovered in real time on the floor. Joe rolled Daniels back into the ring. The camera focused on Daniels's bloody forehead. Joe walked around Daniels before biting the champ's forehead to draw more blood. Joe stared at the hard camera with blood hanging out of his mouth. Tenay announced that Daniels would not face Jushin Liger at the Lockdown PPV because Liger refused to compete inside a steel cage. If TNA presents New Japan as the heel faction in the upcoming X Cup tournament, this is a good way to translate the actual behind-the-scenes issue - New Japan pulling Liger because he doesn't do cage matches - into a storyline. Joe worked on Daniels with chops in the corner. Daniels slumped to the bottom turnbuckle. Daniels tried to fight back, but Joe caught him with a forearm chop to the head followed by a soccer kick to the head. Joe placed his hands on his hips and watched as Daniels tried to recover. Joe washed Daniels's face before hitting the charging kick to the face.

[Commercial Break]

Joe hit a powerbomb into Boston Crab right out of the break. Joe quickly changed the hold into an STF and pounded on Daniels's blood-soaked forehead. Daniels broke the hold and Joe went into deep thought on one knee. The fans rallied behind Daniels. Daniels blocked a punch to the head and hit a side kick. Daniels hit a jawbreaker across his knees. He snapped off a huricanrana from the top turnbuckle for a nearfall. Joe caught Daniels napping with a charging kick to the face. Daniels hit a turnaround Cena slam for a two count. They exchanged weak chops before Daniels dropped Joe with the STO. He hit the Best Moonsault Ever for a nearfall. Daniels went up top, but Joe caught him. He hit the Island Driver off the top turnbuckle for the win to capture the X Division Title. Afterwards, a Sabu video package greeted Joe. Tenay said Joe would defend the strap against Sabu at Lockdown.

WINNER: Samoa Joe in 13:00. The final minute of nearfalls was great. Prior to that, both men appeared to be winded and the action became a bit sluggish. Still, 13 minutes of solid athletic, competitive wrestling is a strong "thumbs up". This should be TNA's calling card for televised wrestling action, not boring squash matches. Mike Tenay did a good job setting the stage for the match after we joined the match four minutes in. It's always preferable to see a match from the beginning to establish the story and tone of the match, but TNA did a good job with this. Joe's victory is a head-scratcher since it's time for him to move on and conquer the heavyweight division. It's time for someone else to step into the top few spots in the X Division. We'll see where this goes in the next few months.

- Jeremy Borash interviewed Sting. He said we would find out if Jeff Jarrett accepted his challenge from last week for a match tonight. Sting comes across like the youth pastor playing a wrestler.

[Commercial Break]

- Mike Tenay did a sit-down interview with Christian Cage. They aired clips of James Mitchell and Abyss stalking Christian's wife while Christian discussed the personal nature of their actions. He said he's never wanted to beat anyone as much as he wants to beat Abyss.

2 -- AMERICA'S MOST WANTED (JAMES STORM & CHRIS HARRIS w/Jackie Gayda and Gail Kim) vs. -- Non-Title Street Fight match

They brawled in the ring early on. Gail and Jackie had a catfight one minute into the match. Gail slapped Jackie across the face.

[Commercial Break]

Harris choked Devon in the corner right out of the break. Ray quickly took a hot tag, which means TNA strategically cut out the repetitive heel beat down on TV. Good decision. The action broke down before spilling to the outside. They went into the crowd. Devon threw Harris into the wall of the bleachers. Ray threw Storm through the wall, but not all the way through. Tenay said the winner of Team 3D-Team Canada at the PPV will have their National Anthem played after the match. Is there a U.S.-Canada war I'm not aware of? The fans chanted for tables. Harris cut off Team 3D from hitting the top rope headbutt spot. Ray flipped Storm over the top rope to the floor. Ray missed with a top rope cannonball splash. Harris cracked a trashcan over Ray's head. He tipped over like a tree in the forest then Harris made a cover for a nearfall. AMW set up for the Death Sentence, but Ray cut off Harris. Ray went for a pin, but Petey Williams interfered. The rest of Team Canada jumped Ray and Devon from behind. Petey pulled out a table from under the ring. The referee threw the match out. (Isn't this a street fight?) Spike Dudley ran to the ring and hit the Acid Drop. He set up a table and Team 3D hit the 3D on A-1. Spike pounded his chest and celebrated. Tenay called him "the brother of Team 3D."

WINNER: No Contest in 9:00. The same match we've seen from these two teams before. Spike's debut wasn't the type of major surprise TNA was relying on two months ago, but he brought good energy to the ring. TNA needs to define rules. Why would a street fight match be thrown out for outside interference when standard contest matches are allowed to continue after outside interference?

- Global Impact from Martinsville, Virginia aired. We saw Jeff Hammond take a guitar shot from Jeff Jarrett.

[Commercial Break]

- We saw clips of Sting, as Steve Borden, describing why he returned to TNA after Jarrett ruined his perfect moment of closure at Final Resolution by invading his personal life.

- Borash was backstage with Jarrett's army. Jarrett said he never backs down from a challenge and he has always solved his own problems. He answered Sting's challenge by giving Eric Young a match against Sting. Eric wasn't so sure about it. Alex Shelley, Jarrett, and Team Canada cheered on Eric to convince him the match was a good idea.

3 -- ERIC YOUNG (w/Scott D'Amore) vs. STING

D'Amore pushed Eric into the ring after Eric began to have second thoughts about the match. Eric is hilarious as the confused, jittery nut case. Sting entered the ring to a strong reaction. Eric quickly left the ring when the bell rang. D'Amore encouraged him to fight. Alex Shelley set up his camera ringside. Back in the ring, Eric took Sting to the corner and cowered against Sting's chest. Sting quickly tossed him straight over the top rope to the floor. Sting went after Shelley then went for the Stinger splash on Eric, but he moved out of the way and Sting ate ringpost. Sting rolled back into the ring.

[Commercial Break]

Eric dominated Sting out of the break. He hit a scoop slam then dropped an elbow. They exchanged right hand blows. Eric took a shortcut by raking Sting in the eyes. Eric mocked Sting's scream. He went for a Stinger Splash, but Sting easily moved out of the way. Sting cleared D'Amore then hit the Scorpion Death drop on Eric for the win.

Afterwards, Shelley jumped Sting, but Sting dropped him and applied the Scorpion Deathlock. Shelley tapped out furiously. Jarrett ran to the ring with his guitar. Sting ducked a guitar shot then dropped Jarrett with an elbow. Jarrett no-sold then grabbed his guitar as Sting simultaneously went for his baseball bat. Jarrett swung and Sting blocked the guitar with his bat. Sting smashed the guitar with his bat. AMW hit the ring. Sting fought them off with bat shots. Scott Steiner jumped Sting from behind. A.J. Styles, Ron Killings, and Rhino hit the ring with bats. They cleared the heels. Sting took the mic and called Jarrett's army a bunch of children. He named his team for Lockdown as himself and Styles, Killings, and Rhino.

WINNER: Sting at 4:01. Decent action and a good move to get a younger star in the main event with Sting. It was a safe, basic formula match. I'm expecting more compelling performances from Sting in the future for the money he's being paid, but this was fine for tonight. It's safe to say that the more Eric Young bumps around the ring, the better the match quality.

- We ended with rapid-fire clips from the entire show.

O.

Have to agree with you...that finishing move was AWESOME indeed :buttrock:

Am I the only one that feels the rest of Impact just went downhill after the Joe vs. Daniels match? Sure I know it was a damn good match but with the way the "street fight" went and Sting's match just left me going, "meh".
