Ok. I'm hoping there is someone here who has some knowledge about Cable Modems and Routers.

1) I am looking to buy a Cable Modem. I am currently leasing one from my cable company and since I plan on keeping this connection for a long time I feel it would be more cost efficient to purchase my own. Which is the best Modem (performance wise) to pick up? Cost is irrelevant.

2) I am currently running my DS online through the Nintendo WiFi USB adapter. I just bought a XBOX 360 and I own a PSP so I want to be able to run those online also. What would be the best router to purchase? I noticed when I was in Best Buy that some of the routers had a letter next to what I think may have been the model or revision number (a,b or g ?? or something to that effect)Once again, cost is irrelevant.... just looking for the something that will give me optimal performance.

I dont know if you need this information but here is what I have.

Windows XP
AMD 2100+ XP processor
3Mbps Cable Connection
looking to run the following through router

PC
PSP
Xbox 360
PS2
NGC

Any help that can be provided will be greatly appreciated.

Phillip

Me n Vix have a Linksys router and have never had a problem with it. I'd recommend it without a doubt.

Well,

I have a D-Link 624 and it works very well with my laptop & consoles (DS, PSP, Xbox, PS2 & Xbox 360). Although, I have helped my partners set up their Linksys wireless routers as well. If you do get a wireless router, I suggest you get one that has a firewall that you can encrypt it and make a mac inclusion list. Granted, with experienced hackers, there are ways around this. Still I feel better that I atleast make it very difficult to get on my network. :shame: :smirk:
