Superb fighting games, multi-slot cabs, and 2D gaming the way it ought to be.

Ive always been a NEO fan since the first time I saw Samurai Shodown in my local bowling alley, but I could never afford the system or the games so I settled for the crappy SNES ports and emulation. But once I got myself established I made a promise to myself that I was gonna go and get one and play all the games I used to plunk quarters in the way they were meant to be played.

The day I saw this ^ I was a NEO:GEO fan for life. Though I was
already an SNK fan since the time of Time Soldiers and IKARI.

I think it was mainly because of the allure of the name "neo geo". Everybody saw ads for it, and once we found out how expensive it was, it kinda became the dream of all my video gaming friends.
As we all got older, most of us found a few crappy psx ports here and there, but I was the only one to get lucky enough to find an old AES system. Now, that fucker is my best friend. I can't stop buying games for it! Oh well, it's definitely worth every penny, and like one of the previous posters said, once you get caught up in it, you just want to discover more, and more... and pretty soon, money starts to lose it's important. Along with sleep, food, and shit like that. :kekeke:

Since this thread is back in action I might as well give my story. It is going to be one of those childhood memory stories, but its good "lol".

I lived on a Navy Base in Ceiba, Puerto Rico called Roosevelt Roads (Yep I was a Navy brat, father flew attack planes for training). The first thing that got me into the NeoGeo in 1991 was Fatal Fury 1. It was in the arcade area in the Navy Exchange. The volume was nice and loud and the cab was in perfect working order. This game blew me away. The graphics were top notch at that time. The sounds were amazing, like Joe's screaming, HURRRRICANE UPPPPPERRRRR! Just turn up the game's volume and watch yourself get goose bumps when you hear those moves. After that, other games caught my attention in this order, Baseball Stars 1, King of the Monsters, Fatal Fury 2 in 1992, then Art of Fighting 1 in 1993.

Before all of this, I was a die hard SNK fan before the Neo Geo's time. POW the arcade, awww yeah, many NES titles like Iron Tank and the arcade ports were good for the NES.

I wasn't able to get a NeoGeo system of some sort until 1995. The NeoGeo CD was all I could really afford considering I was like in the 9th grade at the time. Then in 1998 I finally got an AES .

Lets face it, MVS is what got us all early.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention in 1993 Samurai Shodown 1. That game made me want to kill to get a NeoGeo at that time.

I remember going to the back of my local arcade(R.I.P.) and seeing a shiny new cab placed between Operation Wolf and Altered Beast, it housed Magician Lord. I was awe struck by the vivid color and graphics. After I saw ads in the back of Gamepro I yearned to own a Neo. It only took me 13 years to finally get one but it gets more play than any of my other systems.

the original metal slug in an arcade, some time in the 90's, and that was me pretty much screwed.

my neo-geo goal is simple: consolized 6 slot with all 6 slugs.
