Since this thread is back in action I might as well give my story. It is going to be one of those childhood memory stories, but its good "lol".
I lived on a Navy Base in Ceiba, Puerto Rico called Roosevelt Roads (Yep I was a Navy brat, father flew attack planes for training). The first thing that got me into the NeoGeo in 1991 was Fatal Fury 1. It was in the arcade area in the Navy Exchange. The volume was nice and loud and the cab was in perfect working order. This game blew me away. The graphics were top notch at that time. The sounds were amazing, like Joe's screaming, HURRRRICANE UPPPPPERRRRR! Just turn up the game's volume and watch yourself get goose bumps when you hear those moves. After that, other games caught my attention in this order, Baseball Stars 1, King of the Monsters, Fatal Fury 2 in 1992, then Art of Fighting 1 in 1993.
Before all of this, I was a die hard SNK fan before the Neo Geo's time. POW the arcade, awww yeah, many NES titles like Iron Tank and the arcade ports were good for the NES.
I wasn't able to get a NeoGeo system of some sort until 1995. The NeoGeo CD was all I could really afford considering I was like in the 9th grade at the time. Then in 1998 I finally got an AES .
Lets face it, MVS is what got us all early.
