25 inch ST dedicated

And, of course, a few MVS games such as KOF98,99, 2k2, SamSho1,2,5, AOF3, MSX and so on). I also have SFA2, finally, for CPS2. I hope to buy a few more Capcom machines, and maybe another Neo one (big red, maybe).

I have a few, mostly fighting games but I do like shmups its just that its not practical for me to own ATM due to having to turn the TV 90 degrees. I really only like the older style shmups such as Raiden series (all of them except for the first Raiden) and all of the Strikers series.

Heres my list

Atomiswave
---------------
Rumble Fish
Knights of Valour: Seven Spirits
King of Fighters Neowave

Neo Geo
-----------
King of Fighters 2003
King of Fighters 2002
Rage of Dragons
Garou: Mark of the Wolves
Pulstar
Strikers 1945 Plus
Magical Drop III
Metal Slug 3
Metal Slug X
Neo Turf Masters
Last Blade 2
Ninja Masters
Samurai Showdown II

PGM (PolyGameMaster)
-----------------------------
Demon Front
The Gladiator: Road of Sword
Martial Masters
Knights of Valour Superheros
Knights of Valour 2: Nine Dragons
Photo Y2K II
Knights of Valour
Oriental Legends

CPSII
--------
Xmen Vs Street Fighter (suicide free)

Other PCB's
---------------
Double Dragon
Street Fighter 2: World Warrior
Mortal Kombat
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
Cherry Master (some gambling game)

I plan on getting these in the near future :-

Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike
Marvel Vs Capcom 2
Marvel Super Heroes Vs Street Fighter
Marvel Vs Capcom
Street Fighter Zero 2 Alpha
Mortal Kombat 2

Back when I was 13 I bought a Super Dodge Ball arcade machine for $225 (saved up all my birthday money and monies from before). A month later it broke down and I had to pay $60 for it to get fixed (which was a few years later).

I still have no clue as to how a PCB works or if I can even install them in my SDB cabinet to play some others.

You can plug any "JAMMA" game in that cab (most games more recent than 1986 are JAMMA). JAMMA is a standard... just like Genesis games go in a Sega Genesis, and NES games go in an NES.

So Sublime, that means I could basically put a Contra PCB into that cabinet? How would I go about doing that?

For those of you who have a MK2 PCB, did you run into any problems with the button layout?

Oh, well...

turns out it isn't as easy as that.

Contra is "vertical". Meaning it would show up sideways on your monitor. You'd need to have a vertical cabinet or a rotatable monitor to play that.

Really, there's no magic to the insides of an arcade machine. Just plug and unlug the game like you would any cart in a home system. The "system" itself is on most every PCB sold (which is why they cost so much - it's comparable to purchasing an NES every time you wanted to purchase a new NES game). That's why Neo MVS games cost so much less than PCBs. You have a "system" that plugs into the JAMMA harness, and carts that only contain the ROM data that plug into the system.

But, essentially, everything else is "as easy as that".

I'll help all I can. Keep the questions coming if you have any.

JAMMA is a universal system for the majority of arcade games from 1986 on. They're design to plug and play most pcb board that run on two players with a maximum of 4 buttons as standard. 4 player games like Simpsons, TMNT, X-Menm etc. and multi-button games like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat have addition imputs on those boards in which additional wiring and connections are required. Some, like the Namco fighting games have an added connector board for any extra buttons and stereo sound. Gun games like Area 51 and Lethal Enforcers have seperate port connectors on their boards for the guns.

Also keep in mind the older games like Contra, 1943, Raiden and a number of scrollers are set up on a vertical monitor instead of the horizontal that the majority of the games are today and most deluxe dedicated games like driving simulators may have different wiring schemes than JAMMA (though the Crusin' series from Midway is JAMMA)

If you have a manual for a video game board, it should have a perfect layout of all the JAMMA wiring and where they go. Once you figure it out, you'll find JAMMA wiring a piece of cake.

I have been looking at some PCBs as well... never bought one before.
So basically anything that is JAMMA and uses 4 buttons will plug right up and go?

Anything JAMMA will work. Even if it only has 2 buttons, etc. There are little hinderances here and there when you get deep into the arcade scene, but you'll learn them as you go along. Most anything is plug and play, though. Drop a list of the PCBs you're looking for and people can tell you if you're going to run into any problems. What type of setup are you using?
