i fogot all games need to be finished in one credit

In order to enjoy a shooter, a one credit finish is required. It's more
satisfying than just using credit after credit. I'm sure many will agree here.
BBH?

You said, you went through the first four stages on your first try?
but did you actually had a good score at the end when you died?
did you follow the bosses' patterns? did you learn them? did you get
to the fourth stage on one life?

Oh and it's not all about dodging and shooting, is about seeing patterns,
and creating strategies for certain areas, looking for places where to score
a good chunk of points etc..

Maybe you don't care, but to me that's the whole point of shmup.

i totally agree with your point, and if i didnt have add, i probably would play shooters like that. but for me, i just play em like quarter munchers. the last time i really put time into a shooter was mars matrix, great game.

Disagree totally. I enjoy plenty of shmups that I only beat after using more than one credit.

Well, I play shooters just for fun, I can't care less about points, combos, patterns, strategies, 1 credits, etc. Too much pressure to enjoy the game, too much practicing and memorizing.
However I agree that infinite credits that allow you to play the game til the end straight on your first game can spoil it a bit. That is way I like with limited credits at the beginning but then keep adding credits due to time played or as a reward to something.

lol

whats the point of playing a modern shooter like SNS2

if you dont care about using 39928 continues,
you dont care about score, combos, strategies etc etc

play gaplus instead,or just dont play shooters at all

yes,i tried kof but i couldnt be arsed about special moves, dms, combos

i just kept on pressing all the different buttons but i gotta say game wasnt very deep!!!1!

if you played a game of chess, you'd fucking eat all the pawns

I have my own point to play these games.

You have yours.

I know how to shoot and dodge bullets in a shooter.

I know how to attack, combo and use DM and SDM moves in a fighter.

I just don't practice each to death so I can fight the godly Japanese fighters nor make a gazillion points.

Arcade games are designed to have a quick but intense play from time to time, not to play them to death.

I know I have fun.

There are quite a lot of these games to be played, and I have a life outside videogames and internet, so I don't have time to go so deep on each and every one. Plues there are other deeper (for me) not arcade games that get some of my attention.

I don't even have enough patience to remember all the combos and moves of each and every fighter on each and every game. That's why I usually stick to the same fighters even in different games. Nor I have time nor need to explore the slight differences between them.

And I never said those games were not deep . There sure are if you give them some dedication, you have experience and are good at them.

But for me? Some fun play from time to time is enough.

I know you can beat my ass on any game. Good for you.

SNS1 was a snore fest. Very little original ideas in it and I just don't like the buzz system. I put quite a bit of time and came away with the opinion that it was not balanced enough for all the different types of gameplay they offered. Meaning that some characters had extream advantages while others were at severe disadvatges. The problem was I liked the gameplay of the severely disavantaged characters. This also ment that the disadvantaged were pretty much left out of the score game...

then I just lost interest and stopped playing.

I will probably pick this up for the US release just to see if they fixed anything from the first.

Just so you know I am not giving you a hard time. What are some of these that you find deeper than arcade games? I have come to the conclusion that some of the deepest games are arcade games and their ilk. So I am curious to see others opinions on this.

Just a question, but isn't using the special moves(the little man) in the game the only way to get decent scores? I have Mobile Light Force 2, and I use the character with the little man. I thought you were supposed to use that special move until it got to intense, then you start shooting??? Am I wrong? Can an experienced SnS player give some tips for scoring?

First of all we should define what exactly means "deep" but well...

Basically I meant, for me, any game that can't be finished in less than 1 hour and therefore you have to keep saving the game. Such as RPGs or adventures, but also some action games.

I honestily dont get what you mean cabronazo

I tell you what: for me is just about RPGs and old school shmups. I dont like any other genre...there're some exceptions such as MGS, RE and Contra
and I say that I found some shmups as "deep" as RPGs, and the fact most are less than 1 hour playing doesnt mean anything to me

in this specific case:
have you tried playing SnSII with all the carachters? (that, as BBH already said, have different 2nd attacks , hence different strategies)
and this is not the lame "playing RE with a different costume for the bitch" or using infinite ammo, but it's like playing another game

however, as always, tastes are tastes

I played the shit out of SnS2 when it came out, but I've gone off it a bit lately. As has already been said in this thread, the difficulty level is not particularly high. I've been extremely close to one-crediting the game on full defaults for a long time, but never have. The first three levels are really quite easy, and the difficulty only begins to ramp up on level 4.

If you're interested in a serious challenge though, play as a character other than Kuga Koutarou. For me at least, Kuga is the obvious choice because the style of play seems familiar, but I'm absolute crap with everyone else. Experimenting with the very different styles of play available makes the game have a lot more staying power than many shmups. The so-so graphics and weak music can be off-putting, but it's a solid game.
