My girls refusal to play videogames is driving me to ruin

Yeah, you heard ight- I've been going to work on her like fuckin mad for days now and the closest I can get her to actually playing games with me is a level or two of 'Clockwork Knight' on Saturn or a few rounds of Super Puzzle Fighter or TwinkleStar Sprites.

I swear- I am a persuasive guy too- I am going to get her into some games like Virtua Fighter or Metal Slug or Super Street Fighter X if it kills me.

My goal tonight? To get her to play through Shun Di's command training tutorial in VF4-Evo.

It IS going to happen. I know what an uphill battle this will be, but damnit- I've had enough. I watched the entire DVD boxed set of 'Brideshead Revisited' with her. Yes, Brideshead ReFUCKINGvisited. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRggg.

She will be playing through the Shun Di tutorial or I'm locking her in our hall closet until her will softens.

I'm sorry, but Virtua Fighter just doesn't seem to fly well with the chicas in my experience.

I have managed to get girls to play

Vampire Chronicle

Soul Calibur 2

everything else is pushing it.

Good luck! You're already doing better than me as I can't even get my girl to WATCH a game let alone play one. So far the only console game she's played was Final FantasyX for a whole 1 min! (and that was because I had to get the phone) and recently she play about 3 holes of Mario Golf:TT. Since then nothing. She HATES the violence in games. Even games that have NO violence she still doesn't like.

I wish I could get her to play VF4Evo... but at this point i'd be happy to get her to watch one match.:crying:

If you get that to work, I will be VERY impressed. From my experience, girls are not that into Vitural Fighter, though I am not sure as to why. Evil is right in saying that you would have a better chance with soul 2.

My theory is that if I can get her to play through the tutorial and see how fun the combos and 'drunken kung fu' stuff is- she'll be able to start getting competitive with me.

Most girls i've known feel they are too normal, mature, and decent to play videogames. Of course, these are teh same girls that are addicted to Miss Match, Sex in the City, shows with gay men in them, and those fuckin reality shows.

Young women don't have hobbies, they have TV.

- Metal Slug 3
- Super Mario (on the SNES)
- Myst, Exile

Try these first and then when she actually feels better with video games try to pop in MOTW... She'll love beating the crap out of you (but do not forget to let her win a few times, she'll get pissed if you always win... no fun for her)

She will play games if her friends are too. Have a party and start playing games with the guys. It will be only a matter of minutes before the girls will want to gat a chance to beat the guys.

My girl will only play:

Clock Work Knight
Tetris

She once played VF3 with me at an arcade and won by button mashing.

And she tried Samba de Amigo but couldn't do it.

That could be incredibly hot... errr... never mind...

As for games, it's hit or miss. I've had some girlfriends who were brutal in SF (girls dig SF more than most neo games for some reason)... and loved Puzzle Bobble as well... others that rolled their eyes at the cab every time they came in the room. Guess you can try to explain to her that you would like her to give them a try, since it is your hobby and important to you... but, that's about it.

Good luck man. A long time ago, I tried tutoring my steady girl in the finer points of Vampire Hunter...she played for about 15 minutes, then bailed on me. She'll take a shine to the occasional puzzle game I bring home, something like Tetris Attack or Puyo Puyo 4...usually the only thing she'll really get into is a platformer like Crash Bandicoot or Ratchet and Clank, which is kinda counter-productive because then she's hogging the TV. The only thing we can ever really play together is something like House Of The Dead or Virtua Cop, since it's a non-competitive affair.

Virtua Fighter and chicks? Oil and water dude. If you succeed, you deserve some kind of Nobel Prize.

In short, Virtua Fighter will never work because it's ugly. Shun Di is ugly. All the characters are ugly and poorly attired. It's not made like Dead or Alive 3. It's a technical fighting game. Girls will only play fighting games with good looking characters.

She likes him the best and she actually has praised VF as being'cool'.

The only thing I have to get her into is the gameplay.

After about a year of begging and pleading, I can now get my wife (she was just my gf when I started) to play pretty well any KOF with me.

Last week I got her to try Fatal Fury Special. She said she likes that better... one on one was more intense than three on three. I'm hoping she'll feel the same way about SVC...

If you want a girl to get into videogames quickly, start with Frequency, Amplitude, DDR(PS2 games), every girl I have played these with love them. Then go to a puzzler like MD3 or Puzzle Fighter. Believe it or not my last 2 girl friends (Korean and Tiwaneese) loved Tekken Tag and 4. And they played the shiat out of them. I even bought a ps2 and TT/4 with it, for the last one so she could practice. She got pretty good.

Alright boys.

First off if you've been trying only for days...you still a long way to go. It took almost a year, but Kristoff finally got me to play games. You need to start small. Most girls don't like jumping in and kicking the shit out of things right off the bat. Start with the stories behind the games, then dive into specific characters -the appreciation will soon follow, as well as the swooning, (Iori, Benimaru...). Or try and get her to play the chicks. Pai from VF is pretty cool, among others.
Once you finnally get her to play the games, don't kick the shit out of her on every round like a lot of ego-masturbating prick guys like to do. We all know that your better gamers than us, especially if we just started playing, so at least give us a chance.
Then start with simple moves. QCF P for ex. You will cry tears of pride the first time she pulls this off in the middle of a game on her own.
The most important thing is not to rush her, make it something that she does with you TOGETHER, not that you do with the guys and then include her.
And oh yeah, when your dick friends do go apeshit on her
'cause they see it as an easy win, stand up for her or she'll end up giving up -Soon she'll be able to beat them herself.
It can be done gentleman, it just takes patience.

Well, mission sort of accomplished.

I got her to play half way through the Pai tutorial before it became obvious the sequential button tapping was going to be a little too much for her at this juncture.

So I coacher her a little and got her doing ppp-k and ppp-down-k and some throws.

I decided I was going to learn Lei Fei while she learns Pai- so really, so far so good.

I need to get he into the button combinations and I think I can hook her.

I will try again tonight.

As for fighting games, they seem to like SC1/2 cos' it's fun.They seem to have a good time laughing after either of you win by a ring-out, lol.
