The only thing I am wondering is, quadrupled from what?
Apparently there were alot of people waiting for soemthing like this. Though I cannot imagine why, isn't paying 150 + a free game paying the same price basically??
4 times nothing still equals nothing. :p
Well it's not that bad but cube sales haven't been all that great lately. Although I think this move will put them as the new "second console" that many mainstream parents may be putting under XMas trees this year, since statistically most people already own a PS2.
I mean $100 is a cheap price for a "big" XMas present.
Although I've stated that technically the price has gone up, because I paid 149.99 for the sytem, demo disc, game boy player, and wavebird. But seeing the system under 100 bucks is definately a selling point. Now though I'm waiting for a GBASP price drop so I can buy a second one.
I can't believe anyone fell for that fakeass "price drop". Strip out the free stuff (as lithy stated) and drop the price to $99, doesn't equal a drop at all. If they drop the core system to $49, I'll think about it . . . but at $99 it sure ain't worth it! :oh_no:
Now if a game actually comes out on the system worth getting, that hasn't already been ported to the other two systems, I'll think about it. And no, I don't include any Nintendo first party games in that category . . . none are worth it to me. Same old stuff, rehashed for years and ready for the kiddie krowd . . . :tickled:

You're pretty much a moron. I think you'd be happier if you just stuck to your 300 dollar fan made games.
Edit: Err, I mean Neo Geo games.
Tsk tsk, so sensitive are you when it comes to your beloved KidCube? But to the point, wouldn't you agree that $99 without any packin games or GBA player is no price drop, vs. a package that has those included? Funny how you didn't bother to comment on that point . . . actually, not funny, pathetic. :annoyed:Quote:

The Neo Geo is so far beyone the GC, it isn't funny. I never said the new games were insane, and I still believe the peak for the Neo was the mid-90s. So what? I'll take the Neo and its library of fantastic arcade games over the GC and its weak library of crap anyday. Pretty easy choice there . . . :tickled:Quote:

However i believe this is because Nintendo Europe are doing all the PR for the Cube SCII while EA is promoting the other versions.
We've had posters with Link slap bang in the middle with 'only on Gamecube' on them as well.
...
I heard MGS: The Twin Snakes was delayed to next year, March I think. Anyone know if this is true or not? I REALLY want this game.
There are 2 differences between $99 and no game and $149 and free game:
1. You pick the game you want (other than a Nintendo first-party game) = not a big deal
2. The psycological $100 barrier = huge deal. People perceive $100 as a unit. Anything over is pricey, anything under is cheap and nearly disposable.
Think about it this way: If you're 9 and your mom is going to buy you a video game system, which do you buy (being a somewhat less informed parent):
XBox for $179
PS2 for $179
GameCube for $99
No shit they're selling 4x as many.....
And how can you not at least appreciate how good Zelda on the GC is? It may not be your thing, but it sure is purty....
And Viewtiful Joe is a GC exclusive. Worth the price of admission by itself!
I agree with Viewtiful Joe. I have my copy preordered.
Super Monkeyball
Viewtful Joe
Zelda
Metroid
MGS: Twin Snakes
Resident Evil series
Pikmin
F-Zero
SC2 Link Exclusive
1080 Avalanche
Mario Kart
PSO
Final Fantasy
Not a one of these games are truly "kiddie"
You can argue Pikmin and Mario kart but with Pikmin it requires more strategy than the average small child can comprehend and Mario Kart is just all around fun.
Face it, PS2 might have more games in the mature level and X-box might have the most power, but overall Nintendo's first party titles alone are enough to justify this system.
I'd say close to 98% of Neo games are shit. There's no way that a bunch of subpar buggy assed fighters, ripoff puzzle games, and various other junk can compare to even a handfull of the GC games. The Neo may have some gold, but nothing near the quality of many GC titles.Quote:

It's pretty sad that you even argue this crap. Just another super nerd trying to be cool by dissing on games as if he has some kind of superior taste that puts him above the "lesser" gamers. You're probably the kind of person that sits around at home talking about how much better games would be if you helped to make them. Or how it should be so obvious to "these idiots" and so on. You're sad dude. There's no harm in bagging on bad games, but trying to say that there's nothing good for the Gamecube just cause you're some kind of super mature enlightened gamer just makes you look even more like a geeky dickweed. Fuck that shit dude. Enjoy the Neo for the fun games it has, enjoy the Gamecube/PS2/X-Box/whatever for the good stuff they have.
some sales around bound to increase more with that KBtoys 30 percent off dispute...
i'm going to wait until it's $99.95 w/ a free game.
until then i don't give a crap.
;)
After reading some of these post i cant believe what im hearing. The Gamecube being trash and weak?I dont thinks so,it may be true that is doesnt have as many titles as the PS2.But it does have some of the best games around thats available for its system.
Games like Eternal Darkness,Metriod Prime,Legend Of Zelda:The Wind Waker,Resident Evil Remake,Resident Evil Zero,StarFox Adventures,F-Zero GX and many more!
Its a shame Nintendo has got the rep as being a kids system because of Pokemon and all the cutesy theme titles that came out on the N64.When in reality thats far from the truth. They're games on their systems thats available for all ages.
Nintendo make some of the best and most innovative games in the industry and their NES help shape the game industry up to what it is today.
Now i see a lot of classics that came out on the NES back then being brought to other consoles which is great but i remember the system that help the third party companies get where they at now(well in some ways at least depending on how you look at it).
I wish Nintendo the best of luck in the present and the future.Keep bringing the great titles out. They will always have my support!
This was found to not apply to video games at KB, a thread about this at DP:Quote:

I really like it when people bag on shit that they don't even own :oh_no: If you don't like it for your own personal reasons, that's cool, but why do you feel the need to push your own personal agenda on others? I have all 3 systems, and I'm not too fond of the X-Box, but there are some games that I like on it. Yet at the same time, you don't see me talking shit in the X-Box praise threads. Having an opinion is fine, being an asshole about it is just annoying:shame:

Technically it wasn't delayed, since they always said "Winter." Winter encompasses several months being in the current year and the following year. It will be out 1st quarter next year, and as long as it's early first quarter, it would still be winter.Quote:

Though their inteded date was November, it's Konami's line that states "winter."
I appreciate that people get upset when I bag on the GC. Its pretty clear that I don't like the system, or Nintendo for that matter. There are a lot of reasons for that, not least of which is the poor quality of the GBA and GBA SP systems. The GC I also don't care for, mainly because the vast majority of games for the system just don't appeal to me at all. No need to go into all the reasons, most people either really like Nintendo games or don't care for them at all. Personally I'm sick of Mario and all the other Nintendo "flagship" titles, which doesn't help.Quote:

But back to my original point. Dropping the GC to $99, minus any packins, is no big news at all. It was $149 with a GBA player or with one or two games and possibly other items; now its $99 without them. Seriously, this is no big deal at all. Its a non-news item. A real drop in price would be GC for $79, or $49. Then they can say they actually dropped the price, but now its nothing more than another bundling (or lack of bundling) option. See what I mean?
I'd say your "98% of Neo games are complete shit" comment classifies you as a complete idiot, who shouldn't even bother to post on this site. I can list a fairly good number of Neo games that are fantastic, and as we all know only about 130 came out in total for the system. If I can name 13 great games, which most other people would agree with, then your estimate would be regarded by most as idiocy. Why not cruise on over to Gamefags, where your idiocy would be more appreciated? Dumbass . . . :pQuote:

It's obvious that Bryce doesn't like the Gamecube. He's got horrible bias against it...why even bother paying attention to what he's got to say in this thread?
He's entertained by horrible games such as Bloodwake...and disses the latest Zelda. This is the guy who's opinion you're letting bother you? Just skim over his posts, they're really all the same. He only rears his ugly head when one of these posts comes up...like a true fanboy.
My Cube is amazing to me. I haven't had so much fun in a long time. I've got viewtiful joe coming out, PN03 on my plate, Billy Hatcher hanging out around the corner...its going to be a blast for me. I've played all these games and I love their style and gameplay. In the meantime, I'll keep playing Soul Calibur 2 and having a blast with it.
It's hardly anything to get up in arms about...I think this forum is finally getting bored of your bullshit Bryce. It's tiring. Take your doughy ass to EB where you can hang out and argue about the systems with all the other cool gamers.
All of the above just adds up to your usual retardation. Typically, you don't address the points at hand and just spew your same old stupidity. Its very predictable that the few GC fanboys (including you) would get upset when their precious system is criticized, taking it as a personal insult. Only a retarded idiot like you would take personally some criticism of a game system. Now THAT is the true sign of a loser, and its pretty funny that you try to attack me for not having a life . . . what a joke! :tickled:Quote:

While I'm dumbfounded that twigboy likes games like bloodwake but takes every oppurtunity he can to bash the handful of solid GC titles, you have to agree with his assessment about nintendo's marketing tactics here. The idea that this is a "price drop" is a joke.
And while we're on the subject of the cube, damn is there going to be a long strech without any good games coming out for it. At least there is an abundance of good games for PS2.
Matt
its about time, the Gamecube is the only system out now with a soul and great games. it deserves this, and gamers deserve this great consle. i hope the great games, like mario sunshine and metroid, get the sales they deserve.
long live Nintendo :buttrock:
ps: the gba sp is amazing, try tactics ogre and the mario ports
Saved me a shitload of time there Ray.Quote:

I'm sorry, but the only thing weaker than the Cube's fall lineup is the Box's. There aint shit worth playing on it this winter, just a bunch of sad XBox owners (like MYSELF) waiting for Halo 2.
And that's the truth, Ruth.
Why would it be a (bad) joke? The systems are trash. The regular GBA is completely lame, with terrible dim screen and a d-pad that trashes your thumb after long (or even medium) playtimes. Plus the volume from the speakers is really poor, even with fresh batteries. The SP is frontlit as opposed to backlit, making the screen washed out and dull, the d-pad is still lame, the system is too small and uncomfortable to hold, there is no built-in headphone jack (on a portable system, WTF?). The games themselves aren't bad, but the hardware sucks. Maybe you can accept all these things and sing the praises of the GBA systems, but I can't and won't. I sold off my GBA and all games after trying very hard to like it, and after deciding that the SP wouldn't really offer enough of an improvement to be worth it.Quote:

Twin snakes was slated for November 19th and It got pushed back to February I believe. It will be worth it though. A GOOD MGS game....
Hardware alone for $99 is a "price drop". A game usually costs less than a few dollars to produce (especially a best seller having recouped development costs). So when they sold the GC with a game for $149, they netted about $135+ for the system. The Gameboy player that you could get the system with probably costs a bit more to produce, but they still netted part of the $50 towards the Gamecube. And please, if you don't think $99 for a Gamecube is worth it :oh_no:Quote:

Did someone say MGS for GC?
The gamecube is pretty good. It got some play this week when I decided to run though RE1 again. Been contemplating buying Viewtiful Joe too. Will definitely buy RE Code Veronica when it's released and play through that again. And of course, RE4. As it stands, I own a playstation 2 (bought a month ago from Kid A) and I haven't put a PS2 game in it yet.. I still don't own an x-box, and the last time I touched the controller for one was in 2001 when it was released in the US. I just don't see a lot of reasons to give a shit about the x-box beyond playing your favorite roms. But for the cube, as a RE fan, this is like sustinence. Who knows, maybe I'll find other stuff for the cube that interests me, but as a guy who's not just going to play anything (like bloodwake? what could possess a person to even touch that kind of game?), a game has to have more quality, and the last game released on the system like that was Soul Calibur II, and that hit every system. For the PS2, I guess it could be the last one as well, though I have been thinking about Silent Hill 3 (will wait to buy it at $10). For the Xbox? Nothing. Nothing at all except the ability to play roms.
Yes Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes is being done by Silicon Knights (did Eternal Darkness) its a remake of MGS1 and man it looks awesome. I'll see if I can find the link to the trailer, but can anyone say snowflakes hitting and melting on your binoculars? Badass.Quote:

my opinion :
controlls :
the gbasp has the best digi pad. by far.
worst digi pad? easy : game gear.
screen :
worst screen : neo geo pocket.
i also don't like the game gears screen, cause the colors are washed out and you can barely see anything, if you don't look straight on it.
best screen? gbasp.
even the gba's screen isn't that bad. i had mine for about 1.5 years now and i NEVER had any kind of a problem with it.
speaker :
the game gear's and slimline's speakers are WAY too loud and all the others are ok.
overall quality :
all of my systems are ok. really. the only thing, that i don't like is the game gear's digi pad, it's screen and it's battery life, but otherwise, i'm quite happy with my systems.
To me this price drop has actually got me thinking about picking up a GC. Seeing as how I don't want or need the GBA player that was packed in with it, and would rather choose a game I might like when I buy the system instead of being stuck with what they think I want.
I don't need a GBA player becasuse I own A GBA SP. I bought the GBA SP to play games when I have to travel for work or whatever. So I really don't see the need for the player to blow up a game that was made to be played on a small screne onto a big screen.
The GBA SP has an awesome screen. I have ZERO problems with it. The fact it has a quick charging rechargable battery built in makes it superior to any other handheld out there.
Only thing I'd ask for is a port of the great NGPC games.
Looks like the price cut came a little to late...
http://www.gamespot.com/gba/news/news_6076336.html
That would be sweet as hell. Playmore is rereleasing all their PS1 games, so why not rerelease all the NGPC games on the GBA??Quote:

and how do you know a GBP costs 50 bucks maybe it only costs 20 buck for nintedo to produce so they would have a price drop of 30 bucks on their cube.
Amen. What I wouldn't give for an updated Match Of The Millenium. Especially now that I KNOW the NGPC SvC completely destroys Playmore's half-hearted Neo version. I'd buy that or a combined Metal Slug 1st and 2nd Mission anyday.Quote:
