Ever feel like moving to a different country?

Ever get that feeling? I mean I am a proud U.S citizen and all but its seems like life here is so rushed so ignored. So much T.v and crap stuff to do. No wonder kids are so fucken fat I mean damm look at what their doing all day. Just watching tv or palying games and eating.

I want a simplier life where people chill. Of course we all need to work to survive but somewhere where I can just enjoy life a little bit better than I can here. If I were to move I would like to move to Italy or Spain. Maybe some other country..I dont know. What you guys think?

This is why people take vacations, perhaps you could use one yourself. I've often longed to go to far off places and see how other people live and it looks like I may be taking one such trip soon.

Traveling is actually rather inexpensive if you know what you're doing.

Costa Rica is the place for me-ca.

I'd hang out on the beach all day, working on my tan, combing my hair, and salting up my skin. Heated winds sanding the calloused skin skin on the bottom of my feet...laying on bleached beach furniture and breathin' in the crisp wind snaking its way from behind the treeline in invisible waves.

At night when everythings an inky blue under the subtle light of the king moon in the sky, i'll jog along the shoreline where the waves slide up the lips of land. delicious fishes.

Yeah, well I could take a vacation but what if I like it so much i dont want to come back? Yeah tough. I just want a place that i can just chill and enjoy life. You know just do stuff that doesnt make you so fucken crazy. I mean many of societys problems are cause of the places we live in.

Costa rica sounds nice but not very safe. Many of those central american countries have a shitload of kidnappings of foreigners, especially if your white. Plus the fucken cartels and people revolting against the governments. No thanks. I want somewher more stable.

Id like to live in many parts of Europe.

Heres a little story.
I was giving a current event in my American Democrazy class and it was about how bush couldnt find Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq and how they used that to try to justify why they where in Iraq, and i said it made the US look very foolish. The teacher jokinling said "Oh, you mean the US aint perfect, OH NO!". I agreed and said something slandering the US a bit. Teach said "Do you not like the US" and i said "Meh, all i will say is that Id rather live in Europe." Then all these idiots starting yelling shit at me like "WELL LEAVE THEN!" and "TRAITOR!" ect ect.

Yea, id like to love in other countries, they are more appealing to me than america.

Sometimes I'd like to. But all my friends/loved ones are here...

But a change of location isn't going to solve your problems anyway. Odds are if you're stressed out here, when you get settled in somewhere else, you'll be stressed out there too.

I felt the same way, then I lived in Holland for a few years and I actually felt alive for once in my life.

Go to Spain if you want to chill all the time. They know how to party.

Italy is nice as well.

Holland is awesome, but the party atmosphere only seems to be in the summer.

Go backpacking in Europe. Can't afford it, well if you're in school then join a study abroad program. Its not that much more expensive than a regular semester and you can take out loans and such to do it.

Life goal currently is to win the largest Powerball prize ever. Put 95% of it in bank accounts, stocks, bonds, etc. Use some to buy an island where they film Corona commercials. But alas Corona won't tell me where their islands are despite numerous e-mails. I would like to be a beach bum, live out my life laying around not having to worry about cash.

I'm not saying im stressed. Just want a different life than 99% of the bots around me. I have to wake up.......I am tired of living my life all for the MATRIX!! I must wake up!!!!

All the freaking time! In fact it's been my life's goal since sometime before I started HS. Back then ('95-'96), it already seemed like this country was spiraling downward, and I'd have to say that my view has not changed since then.

In regards to a vacation making things better. I'd have to disagree. When I went to Europe for two weeks back in summer '99, all it managed to do was reaffirm my desire to leave.

Unfortunately, now that college graduation is approaching, I'm beginning to feel very limited on where I may one day be able to go. My aspirations are for Europe, but given my infrastructure being increasingly tied to the US, I may have to settle for Canada.

New Zealand's the place for me. Growing the biggest seafaring wizard's beard and living on my floating sea-shanty home. Fishing with sharpened pieces of wood and wearing palm leaves for a hat.

At times. I wouldn't mind moving to Toronto or Vancouver.

A change of scenery can be nice, but be forewarned that there is a lot of anti-american sentiment in the 3rd world and most of the European Union. You'd probably get lectured ad nauseam by local people about what the US does wrong (just as we like to lecture foreigners residing here). Still, a few lectures would be more than worth getting away from the hustle and bustle.

Personally, I'd want to move to somewhere on the Swiss Alps. I'd have my own mountain cottage and live the life of a mountaineer.

Also, you don't have to leave the US to find places of peace and quiet. Try Montana, or northeastern Arizona. If you're deadset on somewhere near the beach then try rural panhandle Florida. My mom lives up there and its a good set-up, you're in the middle of nowhere but can drive two hours and get to Panama City Beach to the west and Tallahassee to the east.

Ever see the film 'The Beach' that's where i want to go if there ever was a place.

Just on my own with a select group of friends and we would live simple lives.Living in huts,growing food/weed and having fun.

yeah i wouldn't mind checking out other places. its interesting to see how life is in other places. also a good way for a fresh new start too. i would like to check out the world if possible.

In all seriousness I would like to stay in either the UK, Germany or maybe France.

I visited Toronto Canada on vacation once for about 4 days. That was in '99 and since then I have always thought about moving up there. It was really nice, and I loved the weather. Nice City/People too.

Oh well.

I've thought about moving to Shiraz, Iran. Maybe one day.

I've thought about moving to London, or the U.K. for a long time, but I am afraid it would cost way too much and upset my life a little more than it is worth. I have two dogs I would want to take, that is expensive and hard since they would have to go through that whole process. Then, all my electronics would need to be converted for 220/PAL type output. Not to mention being so far from family and friends... still... I don't know... might happen someday.

Having lived in the states, I would have to say that anyone who still lives there really ought to put more effort into leaving.

I don't think there is a more stifiling country.

That said, Americans abroad are not always welcome guests. When the Iraq war was just kicking off A group of Americans got barracked out of a pub I was in. I think they were quite frightened. The Canada line would work though!

Or the huge American man I saw in Rouen screaming at a waiter 'I wanna grand luty, don't you fucking speak French you moron?'.

If you are not these people though, and you are open to local sensiblities then there is no reason you couldn't be happy abroad. Certainly for a few years till the homesickness starts.

If you have money and you want a life made of fun, go to Paris. A great city for night life.

I am not about moving to another country, but I am all about traveling and visiting other countries.

Before you get too excited, you should look into just how impossible your dream is.

You can never get citizenship unless you're born a Japanese.

I personally met a lot of americans expecially here in London and most of'em were lovely persons.....well apart of some guys from Louisiana last year in a pub
They said among a lot of shit that US army bring peace and prosperity in the world

lol Your just like a friend I have. Hes a freakin Otaku and keeps fucken talking about anime and Japanese girls. Many people get this disease when their young but then they grow out of it. And Japanese if FUCKEN hard to learn, you are gonna have to be extremely dedicated to be fluent in the language.

You really should use it.

I had a history teacher who went backpacking through Europe and she said people on the street literally stop you. So she and her friends put Canadian flags on their bags and all was well.

LOL, why would I want to move from the best country in the world.

But anyway, traveling is always fun, not sure I could ever live permanently out of this country. Lots of people don't like americans abroad, and I'm not sure how well I'd get along with them either :p .

don't go through customs wearing a Dead Kennedys or Propagandhi 'Purina hall of Fame' t-shirt, as i recently experienced on holiday.

Not a good experience.

I am a full fledged american. I will eventually buy a house in santorini. You dont know how cool it is to wake up near and ocean, and walk outside to hear some live bouzouki homo's smiling and then order some liquor and get drunk and throw the cups at peoples feet whilst being tabbed for each.

If I were single and rootless, I would love to live in Europe actually. I would like to try London, Glasgow, Dublin, Paris and maybe Prague or Berlin for a while. At least to visit.

If I were to go to Europe, the people that would get to know me would have their opinions of Americans altered substantially.

I would take advantage of the social freedoms enjoyed by Europeans and blend into the arts communities there. I'd love to hook up with DJ Hell in Munich or Berlin sometime. Or maybe catch up with Rinocerose or Daft Punk in Paris.

I want to get hooked up with some genuine Absinthe in Prague and get all tweaked and sequence music on a laptop on some bridge with my new Czech girlfriend.

Honestly, I'm fine here. Not out of any particular "pride," just that this is the place I was born, the place I grew up, etc. I have too many memories here that I don't want to leave behind. So... blah.

If I ever go abroad again (went to Germany June '97 with classmates), I won't really have anything with my nationality expressly placed on it (except my passport), but if anyone actually asks, I'll admit to being an American. It would be sort of like this:

"Woher kommst du?"
"Ich komme aus Amerika, aus Philadelphia."

That would be it, really. Unless they decide to bitch at me, somehow believing that I'm single-handedly responsible for everything wrong in the world by simple virtue of my nationality. Then, I'd say something along the lines of "While I'm flattered that you think I'm that powerful, I must inform you that I am simply one man. I am incapable of causing strife in one town, let alone one entire region." You know, try to handle it in a good-humored fashion so as to avoid conflict.

i was abroad. sweden, london, scotland, ireland and I had no problems telling people i was american. when they found out they wanted to talk to me. got all their friends told them i was american and they were like WOW ASL!?? then we got mad drunk and i crawled home across the streets of dublin.

This is the first sensable thing I have read in this whole topic.

I think if you are going to be relating your life to movies then you have other more important issues to resolve above and beyond where you live.

I have spent quite a bit of time abroad mostly in Europe. And from my experiences for the amount of people I meet that dislike Americans just for being American there are just as many who do like Americans.
And it has a lot to do with how you are acting as to how they treat you which is ironicly enough how quite a few Americans treat foreigners here.
