Anyone else gonna do some horror flick watching this month?

It's that wonderful time of year again! Time to heat up some cider, carve a couple pumpkins, go to a few haunted houses/hay rides and just enjoy life.

Anyway, since this is the month of horror, I was just curious to see what everyone's gonna be watching. I was thinking about picking up the Nightmare On Elm Street box set and Lion Gate's Pot of Gore to hold me over. If I can't find one or the other though, I have no problem throwing on the Sleepaway Camp Survival Kit or Halloween 1-6 for about the 250th time. :drool_2:

All the horror films i got on dvd i have seen so many times i am bored of them and i even see freddy vs jason 6 times at the movies as i wanted to make the most, cant wait till it comes out on dvd so i can watch all the best bits over and over,

its time a new serial killer/horror movie came out.

So Earthquake? Do you actually like Halloween 3?

Cause I do- I think it's very underrated and it's pissed me off for years that people don't get what it's about.

I think Halloween 3 is the second best Halloween movie in the series- the original being one of the 4 or 5 best horror films of all time after all.

I actually started me Halloween season movie watching last night- with Tim Burton's somewhat suck-ass 'Sleepy Hollow'. Just to get me in the mood and all. This film is where Burton really started to lose it. But it looks and feels good. (God how I hate him now)

i got plenty of horror/sci fi to pick from: the thing, fright night,an we cant forget the classis's universal movies the mummy,dracula, frankenstein OLD but still the best. they started it all!!

I know a moderate amount about horror movies and I thought it was quite decent, almost certainly well worth adding to any horror fans collection.

I don't like part 3 one bit...........I love it! ;)

Definitely one of the most underrated horror flicks I've ever seen. It's a shame that people trash it just because it bears the Halloween name, but doesn't include Myers. The acting is decent (Tom Atkins did a great job) and the atmosphere is incredible. It almost makes you want to go out trick-or-treating when it's over. It has an excellent "the bad guy wins and there's nothing you can do about it" type ending like The Fog.

I'm about to pop in H6 in a few minutes which IMHO, is the most underrated slasher film I've ever seen. Hardcore horror fans run this one into the ground because it introduced the "thorn" aspect into the franchise. I love it though as it digs deep into Michael's history and empties out everything a Halloween fan could ever want to know about the legend. I guess most fans don't like their slashers with story lines though. :oh_no:

Alien Directors Cut in theatres on Halloween is a nice touch.

Just saw Cabin Fever and well, it was ok I think aside from the fact I have no clue what the hell I witnessed. EXTREMELY messed up flick, but the chick was hot and has the exact same birthday and same year as me :emb:

yea. texas chainsaw massacre is always a classic.
i rotate all my horror fliks and watch them at least once
every two or three months.
but i think i ll be buying some films i ve been neglecting
like the omen trilogy and if i ever have cash the nightmare collection
but probably it ll be a exorcist halloween for me again this year.
sans the exorcist 2 of course.
guess i ll just have to substitute suspiria in there instead.

It's not his best one....We did a small home video for the big Halloween show coming up in Cali..
Whereas Myers killed me while I was playing the Cab..

I love Halloween. (both the movie franchise and the day/night)

As I said in an early September post, that time of the year where the days grow short, and the nights grow long. (Keen Halloween fans will know that quote came from Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers)

In fact, tomorrow in my Story Drama class, I will share with my classmates my 1994 Halloween adventure. (I was 11, we went to a "neighborhood haunted house" free of charge, it was the coolest thing ever, and I also snatched back my best friend's bag after some bag-snatching bully snatched it and ran off -- I chased his ass down in the mist of the night... it was pure adrenaline and my instincts took over... quite an awesome out-of-body experience, and the kid was twice as big as I was!)

Yeah, I used to hate H III. But recently it came on TV and I watched it again. Somehow I like it a lot more now. Last time I saw it I was 10, so yeah, I was expecting to see Michael.

Now that I'm 20, I appreciate things like plot and acting more, and H III is a lot better than what I gave credit for 10 years ago.

That Silver Shamrock jingle is GREAT! I also love how they had a Michael Myers cameo! Very clever!

You know what's funny? That Halloween post I made in early September, (9-7-03) I made it RIGHT AFTER I watched Halloween III on the Sci-Fi channel. As I was watching it, the skies suddenly darkened and wow the atmosphere was unbeatable!
I had also just won that big Saturn magazine lot the previous night so life was just about DARN PERFECT right there and then!

I'm actually awaiting Mr. Vampire III and IV DVD in the mail today. My bro bought them from a website. It'll be my first time watching the sequels. I skipped 2 cuz all I hear bout it is that it stinks the big one.

About time someone gave this movie props. Best scary movie EVER! I've already seen this movie a billion times, and I have the DVD so I know all the cut scenes, but it will be cool to see this in the theatres AND with the cut scenes left in.

House of the Dead

After seeing the insanely stupid tralier (complete with RAP MUSIC SCORE) I'm convinced the only way they could make this movie good was if they distributed light guns to the audience so they could skip through the crappy story and get straight to the action.

I'd almost prefer a 'Typing of the Dead' movie to this garbage..

Me and a friend had this elaborate scheme cooked up for Halloween.

He'd go as James, with his dreamcast strapped to his back with a painted paper towel roll on top of it (to simulate the battery) and carry the keyboard in front of him.

I'd paint myself all pale with dark circles under my eyes and grimy, dirty clothes (i.e. typical zombie). The catch is, I'd have a piece of cardboad around my neck (we'd use fishing line so you couldn't make it out) and have one of those wacky phrases painted on it with a blue background, reddish border, etc. (Back when we were in the planning stages we were stuck between "Eggybread" and "Velvet Painter")

The idea fell through after he got Last Blade 2: Final Edition..Now he treats his DC like a mewing infant and won't even let me touch it without gloves and a mask..

Damn, that would have made some killer fucking cosplay.

My home day Care Center has been getting busy,..But today I had a break..
I played link Halo tonight with Ron,then..
I sat and played Zelda Windwaker for several hours tonight..till now.

Going in for some horror games instead of movies. Just started playing Fatal Frame and really like it. Also want to try and finish Silent Hill 2.

i'm pretty excited for the house of the dead and the texas chainsaw massacre remake. definite must sees:buttrock:

i have this friend who used to be the ass. man. at a local video store. for like a whole month he would bring home a different horror movie (or two) and that is all we watched. we started getting a little weird toward the end and had to stop watching them.:spock: :eek: :loco:

Anyway, I can't wait to see the TCM remake! I've read 2 reviews for it so far and both of them were extremely positive. I have a feeling it will be a lot better than expected. On a sad note though, the infamous "dinner" scene from the original wasn't included in the remake for some odd reason. That's cool though as I guess you can't mess with perfection.

By the way, does anyone here collect horror laserdiscs? I need some recommendations on the best two sided player money can buy. :drool_2:

I lost my copy of Dawn of the Dead when we moved last year, so I might have to track down a copy of it. It seems like the only horror movies I watch anymore are zombie movies.

Maybe I'll play through the RE remake finally.

Recently watched Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, and Dead Alive on DVD. Seriously thinking about the House of the Dead. If anything it could be so terrible that it'll be a good laugh. Or at least that's what I'm hoping.

On the game front I'm finishing up in Silent Hill 3 (other endings). And I'll probably play through the first two games again for kicks.

Oh don't worry Stevo, I won't. I will also be watching Tsui Hark's Vampire Hunters- which is like a more serious and less funny version of Mr. Vampire.

God that F'n Mr. Vampire is one of the coolest comedy horror films ever. I mean- it's got Kung Fu, Comedy, Horror.... it's really one of the most likable films ever. When I show it to people they always love it and think it's a riot.

We really do need more hopping ghost/vampire films these days- and I wouldn't mind seeing some of those Phillipino/Vietnamese 'Pangallan' or whatever you call it movies- the ones with the floating heads with the guts still attatched. I need to watch some of those.

I have to watch Reanimator on halloween. I have for the past 8 years, no way will I break a tradition.

Anyways, I plan on watching all my horror movies this month. That is alot. I don't even include mycopy of Dead Ringers ;)

But I think that I am the only person that liked House of 1000 Corpses. I thought that it had the sanity to make fun of itself and the entire genera (read also: Satire) at the same time it pissed off stupid people who think it is a bad movie and only went to see it cuz Zombie made it.

None the less my wife wants to replay Silent Hill 3 on halloween day to kill time. :D

i also really enjoyed ho1kc. i was beginning to think i was the only one to pick up on zombie's subtle satire of a genre that has really become stale. everybody wants to get a pg-13 rating to ensure more ticket sales and the movie suffers greatly because of it. i think it was great nobody would touch zombie's film for the longest time, it was "too much" for the american public. from the profits it made i'm sure a lot of distributors are kicking themselves. i think house of the dead will be cool also. any horror movie that has to be toned down that much to recieve an R rating is at least worth seeing. i signed up for the newsletter (house of the dead) and they sent me a email saying they were going to be releasing an "X" rated directors cut of the movie 6 months after the release of the theatrical version.:buttrock:
now the texas chainsaw massacre remake has a lot to live up to, but i understand Tobe Hooper had a lot of creative control, so hopefully it will come through.

I would have to agree that Ho1kc was really good for what it was. Anyone who expected to see a serious horror movie has never paid much attention to Rob Zombies shows(concerts, music videos).

I have to say the trailer for the new Texas Chainsaw massacre movie does look really good.

Save yourself the pain of Candyman 3... seriously. Blood Wings was ok, it had more of a teen-apeal to it then the first one, but some nice gore.

No offence, but AoD was more of a action/comedy to me than a horror movie.

Also WTF is Beyond Reanimator? Is that after Bride of reanimator? Or is it a documentary? I need to record that. I know it is not a Brian Y. film.

I was planning on getting around to watching those Zombi movies, and then new Tex CM

And I MUST watch House of the Dead. I'm sure it will give me nightmares.

but halloween 3 is a steaming pile of shite sir

now its quite coincidental that John Carpenter is also my favoritististist director so i love the halloween movies, especially parts 1 and 2

but 3 is dreadful

as for horror is that cedar creek manor any good since joo yanks have it in general release already

Just watched House1 and 2 and order Waxworks 1 and 2 online. Never seen wax, but they look cool.

The most underated horror movie is In The Mouth Of Madness . Now that's what I'm gonna watch!
