While I am not a big fan of aero kits since 99 out of 100 of them are purely for show and contribute nothing useable to the vehicle { other than something for others to laugh at since granturismo isnt reality :D }

Thanks guys. Yeah, a lot of the aero kits out there look like they fell from the sky and landed on the car. It makes the car look almost like an R/C car with, a fake plastic shell on top. I definitely wanted something a little more classy. The car has also been lowered, which I think makes it look a lot nicer.

Other than it being lower, the muffler apparently is not sticking out as much, and a design along the bottom of it, I don't see a difference. Was it mostly internal mods?

I'm a bigger fan of the Muscle cars from the 1960s and early 1970s. There's nothing like the big block engines....torque and power was what it was about. Fuck technology. :)

See I will take a classic european car from the same era... guess, it is all tastes, but my baby is a Lotus Super 7... eventually I'll splurge on it, even though they really aren't that much money. The cars been around... forever... and the little 4 cyl engine pumps out 160 hp stock... thats amazing for a 1200 lb car. Stock it does 0-60 in under 4 seconds and gets about 40 miles per gallon wink Plus... I am a sucker for the looks... so meh... I say as long as you are happy, then you have the right car!Quote:

Truthfully anything from that era is good. I've had this discussion with a few people about that time when it comes to cars, their styling, and so forth. The thing that we agreed on was that automotive styling reached it's pinnacle about 35 years ago. Everything has been downhill for the most part since the end of 1971. Cars are cheaply made. Anyone who gives me that crap about how luxurious cars are can go piss off. Cars today are made like shit for the most part. Cheap plastics, everything is about cutting corners to maximize profit for the most part. Take American cars for example. You could not get a better build quality than American made cars. Hence why imports for the most part no one gave a shit about in this country. You got your money's worth when you bought a Ford or Chevrolet made car. Companies took a hell of a lot more pride in what they made. All you have to do is look at a first generation Camaro or Chevelle's. On the rear trunk and front near the hood on the Camaro, it had an emblem which said "Camaro by Chevrolet", and the same with the Chevelle, "Chevelle by Chevrolet".
But anyhow, I just have more pride in American cars from that time whether they were muscle cars or not. Even certain imports from them were nice as well.
Im a bel air kinda guy. Into cars besides classics that cost a little more then the norm.

I totally agree with this. I am saving up right now for some muscle cars I have in mind. Those are some of the best pieces of automotive engineering in history of the United States hands down. This is just my personal opinion, but just by looking at the build quality and realiability you will see where I am coming from.Quote:

To Galford--your car is nice, and by no means does this post try and down play it's very clean look because as of the moment, I drive a 98 honda civic myself only because thats what I could afford at the time of purchase. It's in very strong daily driving condition and I will keep it for daily driving and plan to keep it when I purchase the muscle show car I will use for weekend driving and car shows. Your choice of body kit is very clean and subtle and I think that was a great choice. :)

I never could figure out why people wanted to "hot rod" V4's and V6's .... and honestly, a lot of those civics...etc.... SOUND LIKE FRIGGIN LAWN MOWERS! I mean Good crap here.... Our MTD Cub Cadet has more ballz than those cars.
Anyway.... If you want something devilishly cool. Get a Mustang Cobra. They are decently affordable in the older models.... and let me tell you, upgrading on those things is endless!

I was talking with a few people that had a chance to get on them.. they said it was scary power for a mustang because they are lighter.. and when the let loose... the GO. Many of them own the 2003 cobra and a vette.... and they were able to take the vette hands down.
Point is... don't put money into those V4-V6's.... unless you really really like them. Get something with BALLS... unless you need a family car...... Then get the new Chrysler (I believe) magnum 400 HP Wagon :) It is TASTEFULLY done! *at least you'd be close to the Beach Boys 409 song, eh :D *

Even if it is a V6, it is intended to have some extra power, but it's still a Honda at the end of the day. Don't get me wrong, they are reliable as far as the engine goes. I have a '95 Accord with a 4 cyl. But they are complete shit in every other category. Styling is hideous. Transmission is a piece of junk, I hate automatics, but I needed a car so I took it. Above 80 it feels like the car is going to fall apart.

But ultimately 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder engines should never be modified period. It's funny watching these dumb kids with their Turbo Integras thinking their car is the "end all". Kind of funny how quiet and meek they become when they get ass raped by a muscle car. I watched this punk ass kid with a supposed 11 second turbo Type R get ripped a new asshole by some middle aged guy with a blown, nitroused 1969 Super Sport Camaro. That was fun...well it wasn't a race, more was like a cattle being brought in for the slaughter.

The 2003 Cobra's are nice, look incredibly wicked, and respond great to light modifications. I already owned a Cobra, and truthfully I could never recommend a Ford built car to anyone. Perhaps the '03 Cobras are built better, but I somehow doubt it because Ford's build problems seem to be inherrent in every model they put out. For me it's all about Chevrolet. :)

Accord may be a V6, but doesn't it mean it's a race car. Honda made a V6 version of an Accord because to have more getup and go than the regular 4-cylinder Accords. I personally don't like cars with all these aero kits and pimped out things, because it makes the car looks ugly and also, it dosen't make the car that much better. If ya gonna put all this money into a car, you might as well, buy a real sports car like a Corvette Z06. But, the only real problem there is high-ass insurance.
I think it looks really good. It's nice and clean, and not gaudy or overrought at all.
The new Accord coupes are very nice cars too, much better than the old models and very refined.
Well I can certainly attest to that since I own a 1987 Grand National with 42,000 original miles. It's really my favorite kind of car, a midsize coupe with a comfortable interior, a lot of amenities, decent handling and great performance.Quote:

There hasn't been something like that produced for years now, until this winter. The new Pontiac GTO will be released then, and I'm seriously looking at purchasing one to be my daily driver.

First off that is one sweet ride Galford very classy.
Second, body kits are purely cosmetic and only serve to enhance a cars natural beauty. Almost every car comes from the factory with some sort of mild kit. That spoiler and side moldings that come on mustangs, technically thats a body kit. Imagine what it would look like without them? pretty terrible. Hell besides the motor thats usually what makes a base model car diffrent from a sport version. The kit Galford used was great, it didnt take away from the car at all.
Third. What is all this more cylinder= better faster car crap. If an engine is built for speed then it will be fast regardless of # of cyclinders. I once had a 89 convertible camaro that had a 305 v8 engine but it was slower then shit. people would always ask me why I didnt try to make it faster and I would simply tell them "why try to make this shit throttle body injected peice of shit faster, I would rather put in an LT or LS or even a TPI motor before trying to hot rod my crappy TBI v8". Dont you remember all the Japenese super cars? 3000gt VR4, Twin Turbo 300ZX, Twin Turbo Supra. All those cars ran 1/4 in 13 sec and all had over 300hp and all didnt have V8s. I could easily say why waste your time with v8s when you can get v12. Some would say that any motor with cylinders is a waste and that rotory engines have a better design and a lot more potential but that is a whole other topic.

The simple statement holds true even today, there's no replacement for displacement at the end of the day. Yes turbo charged 4's and 6's do hold up well, but they still cannot compete with big block engines. How many Honda drag cars do you see running 10's or 9's without forced induction (TURBO)? None. How many V8 American cars do you see running 10's or 9's on the motor? A large number. For example, I have a friend who has a 1969 Barracuda with a Hemi 572CI big block, a FYI it was not a production engine. But it is still a big block V8. With a 5 speed Lenco trans and slicks he was running around an 8.7-8.6 trapping over 150MPH on the motor alone. I don't believe there is a single 4 or 6 cylinder engine capable of doing that on the motor alone. Correct me if I am wrong on that though. The number of cylinders plays a role in how fast a car can be due to the additional cubic inches. That's the only reason I mention it. BTW, those Japanese "Super Cars" you refer to all had turbos. They were dogs without them. Go take a ride in a N/A MKIV Toyota Supra and you'll see that it is slow as shit. Responds well to turbos, but not great drag cars. Always makes me think of the running joke about Supras, what does a 400HP and a 800HP Supra have in common? They both run 12's. wink Not true in every case, just a matter of if traction is available and the driver. Yes I'm well aware of the very few 8 second Supras, but I truly don't give a shit about them. That's why most Supra owners refuse to run from a stop and only run from a roll. They don't have to deal with shit launches, but there's no skill in highway racing, just a matter of who has more HP at the end of it. Whatever though, I hate the import scene and most of the people in it. For every cool import owner I've met there's about 100 jerkoffs who think the real world is like the Fast & The Furious. Hey you asked for opinions so don't get pissy about it. oh_no shame You want opinions, then expect the worst. I'm not going to throw any punches here, as a stock car, you have a very reliable car in terms of the engine and so forth. But beyond that it should remain stock. Body kits just are pointless on a virtually stock car as yours. I rarely see body kits that actually are functional and not just for show. Whatever though, you like it and thats what counts, but just remember that for as many people that like it, there's going to be a number of people that don't like it. A V6 Accord with leather isn't going to do much for me.
You're talking to someone who finds the vinyl seats of a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 more comfortable than the interiors of today's cars. You can take your leather seated V6 Accord with a CD player, "powerful engine" and automatic transmission since it floats your boat. That's fine. But I have more enjoyment in a '69 Camaro with it's "outdated" interior since most people probably view it that way. I don't need any CD player or A/C or any other horseshit. Power windows? Who gives a fuck. I'll take the vinyl seats, with the 60s era speedometer and tachometer, an 8 track player, side view mirror only on the driver's side door, the chrome Hurst shifter linkage attached to the Muncie M-21 4 speed and the Chevy 302DZ making a shitload more power than any V6 Accord will. Remember, if you go and look on Yahoo for HP ratings, you'll see the 1969 Z/28 was rated for 290HP by the old gross HP ratings. Still doesn't matter because it was underrated in HP for fear of what Camaro buyers would have done if they new the "lowly" 302 was making more HP than all of the Super Sport 350 engines as well as the Super Sport 396 engines. FYI, the Z/28 is a hard car to drive due to the fact that it wasn't intended for drag racing since the power was located higher up in the RPM's, however in the right hands the car was actually faster than the L-78 Turbo Jet 396 big block rated for 375HP. :)

I didn't get to see Galford's car before he took the pic down, but I think it is cool that he enjoys his car. I think that's what matters the most. I drive a 1967 Bentley, and I love my car to death. It may not be the best car in the world mechanically, and It may not win any races, but The chicks dig it and if another car smokes me, I at least get to lose with class wink
DangerousK you are obviously really into cars you should really broaden your horizons so to speak. I love cars plain and simple 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 hell even 3 cylinder engines all fascinate me. Every manufacturer has a dope sports car or technology. Of course if you were to drag race a car and not use NOS or forced induction then hell there is no substitution for size. I dont drag race though (not at the track anyway) I just like to have a car that handles great and has ample power. Seeing how most people drive their cars daily they cant have over 300 cubic inches of bored and stroked madness under the hood, the car would not be traffic friendly and definitly not economical.
I just got an 87 mazda rx7 turbo II and it can run a best of 13.5 in the 1/4 and I dont have hardly any mods done (high 13s low 14s average), This is what I have done so far

I whoop almost every car that mistakenly takes my old rat for an rice mobile. The only car to beat me is convincingly is the new style vette any other car I walk away from (including mustang gts etc) of course if they have work done then its close sometimes I win sometimes I lose :( point is I am only scratching the surface of the cars potential. I am kind of on a rant but I just love to talk cars
PS my old daily driver was a 56 buick century with power windows, steering and brakes :D it was in awesome condition and boy did that bitch sound mean but may fav car all time is 69 camaro or 65 gto or those old 60s road runners I can go on and on

I know there are some other nice cars owned by folks on here...from what I hear Wolf has a rather fast S4. Sonny (GA) has a WS6 Ram Air Trans Am...one of my favorite modern cars. And yourself with the GN. I had the priviledge to sit in a Buick Regal Turbo Type, one of the nicest cars I've ever sat in. Incredibly comfortable to sit in. Definitely the last car you would expect to be able to go down the 1/4 mile in under 13 seconds with about $1000 worth of mods.

I'm into drag racing more so than anything, so that's why I'm not big on imports. Not to mention the fact that when I still had my Cobra, the run ins I had with import owners alike soured me on the cars period. I dislike Japanese imports for the most part. I have a remote interest in European cars. Mostly the exotics (Lamborghini and Ferrari), but not limited to that, also very interested in Porsches. Probably my favorite foreign car maker period.
While I know you think I am narrow minded with cars as in I only care about American cars period, I should just let you know one thing. I do at some point plan on getting a E36 M3 and dropping in a Euro spec 3.2L engine with a Stage 2 Active Autowerkes turbo kit. I want something for road racing, because while I love drag racing, I am a fan of road racing. I personally love the handling of the E36 M3, not the most powerful car out there, but it handles beyond belief. You have full control over the steering, and it never feels loose at all. One of the joys of 50/50 weight distribution I suppose. :)
BTW sounds like a nice RX-7 you have. I always felt the second gen Rex was good as a sleeper because like you said people expect nothing from it. Certainly sounds like it can hold it's own rather well. I would like to see it against a 4th gen LS1 SS Camaro that is stock just to see how well it fares against a car that already runs around that time stock. Probably would be a close race, but interesting nonetheless.
the new SS is no doubt fast and it would be very close but as of now he would win 13.5 was the absolute best and thats with a stock clutch (which sucks and is why times are not consistant) if the clutch was good it would be down to the driver and how well the cars are running.
Lucky for me I dont run into too many vettes, cobras, and SS's/WS6's

I was so excited and happy that I decided to share... but it just felt like everyone was taking turns crapping on me.
Anyway, yeah it's not a race car. How many of you guys here race professionally?? Raise your hand. That's right.
It's just a cool looking car, that has a great interior, handles well, and has some serious pickup for a nice luxury sedan. I love that car, and got exactly what I wanted.
And if all we're talking about is racing and all that, there's plenty of mods out for the Honda engines (even this new v6) that can pump up the hps significantly. I was just reading about a 493hp civic. If all you're interested in is fast, you can get there.

And if all we're talking about is racing and all that, there's plenty of mods out for the Honda engines (even this new v6) that can pump up the hps significantly. I was just reading about a 493hp civic. If all you're interested in is fast, you can get there.
There is one parked outside on the street that I can see right now... looks almost identical to yours... so... maybe that is where a lot of people are coming from. Let's face it, Fast and Furious ruined the import scene... now it is all about the tricked out imports... gets old... and... feh, just not my style, but then again I like cars like this:

I sold it to a friend cause i didnt have the money to keep it up. It was my daily driver at the time and I didnt make squat for cash. I used to spend easily like 60 bucks a week on gas loco and of course after I sold it I got a job where I was making good money :mad: and could afford 2 cars. Oh well, if i ever get another good job I will have to get a good sunday car :D
