His speech writers must cringe every time he steps up to the podium.

What is especially interesting about the speech is that the president is trying to distance himself from the unrest in Iraq and Afghanistan that US is still coming to grips with. By using pronouns like 'they' and 'some' he is deliberately side stepping the uncomfortable questions and giving him an opening for escape should he be pressed on questions regarding peacekeeping efforts and nation-shaping efforts.

Jeez. While I won't go as far as some people on this board, this is probably a new low. Now we're calling out terrorists? I'm not surprised, but I am a bit disappointed. I never thought I'd say this, but bring back Warren G. Harding. He knew how to handle his enemies. (It was his friends that gave him trouble. :D )

Dude I so wish I was there right now, but due to having listened to some suck ass person who also had an over active brain (mild Bipolar type 2.5)... I got on this medication to help me "sleep" and due to that medication (now addicted to it) the Marines wouldn't take me into their brotherhood to go and kick some ass! Some official red tape horseshit about the drugs making me a liablity. For fuck's sake it's the lowest dosage it could be (25mg) and under War situations especially the adrenaline rush alone would wake me up no problem, I'm one of the best shots around (prolly could out shoot some Jar Heads at that with Iron Sights... seriously I'm that good) and relish the "right" to be within a Warrior fold. Familiar with over 50 different pistols, and about 100 or so different Assualt Rifles (feild stripping etc.) and above all else... WANT TO FIGHT! But nooooooo, I get to sit back and listen to bastards who are in the positions their in, who have the honor of being a solider... of being apart of history in doing their duty, but instead it's all boo hoo. How many times must I hear ppl who are in the military say seditious gutless crap like: "Man I got in the military to pay for my college, and never expected to get shot at." Totally worthless scum bag mother fucker is what that person is. Son ova' bitch wanted all the rights and perks that came with being a "Warrior" but then cries to his wife or the public about having to earn his keep? Half the ppl in use the military system only as a means to be just another work a day, piss ant collective majority thumb sucking, let's disarm the nation cause B.B. knows best, perpetuating the cycle of lifeless ordinary we're all living in.

I'd be like a fuckin' Roman soldier who lived in a tent for 8 years away from home, always fighting on the frontier somewhere... coming home on furlough (6 months of R&R only to get right back into the shit) to see the kids, bang the wife and then return to Vanguard duty. This is the mentality that is needed more so than ever among our fighting personnel. But of course Polictical corectness always sticks it's head in the door and ties a soldier's hands behind his back, waiting until fired upon etc. Fuck that shit! It's search and destrory, worry about it later. History absolves the victors and the losers are stuck with whatever the victor does. Hell I mean just look at the USA for cryin' out loud. History absolved the wrongs of the government committing genocide to native americans through the use of biological warfare (small pox)... raped the land, forced ppl onto reservations... renegged on practically every treaty and promise ever made to most Native Americans etc. Now history doesn't justify this behavior, but it absolves the atrocious acts of a supposedly "then" Civilized nation in the making and the deeds they used to create what is now. Thus within the fabrics of WAR... all is decimated and restoration comes only at the end.

To win a war a solider must be WAR... and furthermore the warriors fighting must love/respect their enemies as well as fight them, for the opposition is almost always formidable. So yeah man, I'd love to be there, but ain't no one in the DOD going to give me a shot at it... not to mention what would be the point in going anywhere to fight when you're not allowed to fight? When the military can return to PATTON/MAC ARTHUR/CURTIS LEMAY ways of dealing with things... stomping ass and doing the impossible with what they have at their disposale with men who relish their position of "Warrior" then by all means things will truly get better. I mean back in the day (100 or so years ago) it was a high honor to be a solider/warrior... now it's frowned upon, and most CRY over every little thing that happens because it's not "Fair" BOO FUCKIN' HOO! Dully noted Dialve... dully noted. As for being a criminal/murderer, I can't bring myself to do that for the fact it be cold blooded killing of non-combatnants and that just wouldn't be any fun nor honor in it. The police gig... well I've been trying for a year now for that one, but as of recently I've been looking into Bounty Hunting/Skip Tracer... figure it might give me the chance to Storm Ride, make some money and possibly mix it up with some scum bags.

As for accepting "Peace". Well, it's kind of hard to accept something you really know nothing about. I'm literally at war with myself and the collective majority every day I live, thus Peace is in the after life. And yeah, you're more than right... SG, this post isn't really aimed at you so please don't take offense. :D

1.) Not everyone hates us over there.

2.) You do have a force over there that thinks that if they keep on attacking US soldiers and causing casualties that the US will pull out of there because the American population is weak and will not stand for many casualties in war.

This is what Bin Laden and many terrorists/dictators in that area believe the US is like because of what happened in Mogadishu.

We can thank Clinton for this.

So basically you have a small militant group of terrorists who are saying "if we attack them and kill enough of them they will leave". That is the mentality of those still fighting us there.

It's what Saddam's plan was for the war since it began over there.

If the President didn't refute that idea completely (which his statement did), then essentially you're playing into their hands - confirming what they want to hear.

He needed to send a message to those people stating that we will not leave if you continue these attacks on our troops, we will not give in to the demands of terrorists, and we will respond to more terrorist attacks on our troops with more force, not by backing away.

That was his message.

But of course the Democrats would use this statement the other way around, trying to make it look like he doesn't support our troops or that he doesn't care about them, is willing to risk their lives, etc.

So please, he was only conveying our response to the terrorist attacks on our troops in those countries. He was not trying to make some spectacle of sacrificing our troops.

The men and women who valliently serve our country know and understand this, there is a reason that the overwhelming majority of votes from military personel went for Bush in the 2000 election.

Bin Laden's been on record (on one of his tapes) that the reason he thought 9/11 would make the US back off Isreals side, etc etc was because that we were a "Paper Tiger" that would run away at the first sign of real casualties. He pointed to Mogadishu as an example of this.

It was also apparant that Saddam's strategy for the War was to kill enough Americans to kill support for the war in our country and have us pull out. I mean that was their strategy.

Either way it doesn't matter, if they're killing us with that strategy in mind - it's not going to work with Bush in charge.

And if they're killing us just because, well then they better understand that if they do that then we won't leave, we'll be there longer, and we will respond to their attacks with a much more powerful retaliation. That's just how you crush a rebellion in this situation.

Either way his message was still the right thing to say.

He knew we wouldn't run away. He knew if he said that then there'd be somebody dumber than him to actually do it. Kind of like Saddam telling his people to fight the military and fight for their land. He knew they didn't have a chance, and just because he says so doesn't mean he really thinks it.

I think his strategy was to run off while his troops were fighting so he could be safe by feeding them a bunch of bullshit. That's what I honestly think. He knew we weren't going to pull out. They don't have much of a military force.

That's the thing. They think they're fighting for God. You can't just crush a rebellion of people who think they're fighting for God. There will always be one person out there who will gladly suicide bomb a country because he thinks he's doing God's will. Bush bringing a phrase straight out of a 13 year old's vocabulary isn't the brightest thing to do.

I'm not anti-Bush, in fact in many cases I said I didn't think the war was for oil or anything like that, so this isn't just a big anti-Bush statement of me hating what he has to say. It's stupid to say what he said though. "Bring it on", what kind of crap is that? I'm all for letting people know that we won't be fucked with/pushed around, but when you resort to childish phrases to make your stance on the war then it's nothing more than self-important macho posturing at the very best that will rile up a group of people enough to try and do something stupid again.

Well I'm not going to say that he couldn't have said it a better way, but I won't knock the man for saying things the wrong way if the principle is still there, and I believe it is.

The entire basis for the Terrorist/Militant Islamic idea of fighting America is for the fact that they believe that if they cause enough casualties that they can win because we are a weak willed people.

Whether you believe that or not doesn't really matter (not an attack on you, it might not be true, we can't be really sure in reality).

Reguardless, we have to crush the resistance there if we are going to set up a peaceful democratic government over there. Now while it is much harder to crush a religious motivated rebellion, if enough of them kill themselves or are killed by us, eventually it's going to wear out, especially as other area's of the country are brought up to speed as far as rebuilding it is concerned.

Meaning that if they're fighting us in the south, if they see the North is being rebuilt, with a Police force in place, and life getting back to normal with things better than before - the rebellion will cease over time.

Do you really think that it is that easy to make orders that you know will result in the death's of men under your command? Ask anyone who has served in a command position in the armed forces that is one of the hardest things to do. And is something that all comanders have to live with the rest of their life.

Really, I'm glad he has the spine to stand up and do what is right, and fight the good fight despite what many of you here and throughout the world think.

He isn't shrinking away from getting his hands dirty dealing with people Hell bent on attacking this country. He's rallying our troops who are stabilizing Iraq and Afghanistan, and sending a signal that we will not shy away from taking out the trash where ever it needs to be done.

He is not a "paper tiger" as Osama bin Laden labeled our previous President and how he failed to handled repeated threats and attacks against the United States and our Allies.

He is a leader, not a cowerer, or appeaser, just what the U.S. needs right now. Thumbs up to our President.
