Ooh wow what a great game! Let's finish the game in like no more than 5 hours then go around and kill people!
Let's get the cops on us and all the tanks! Then we die and do it all over again!
Then we'll ride the new MOTORCYCLES and HELICOPTERS WOoooOWWW ZOWIE! This game is so badass YO! Yo straight up holmes!
Then we die and kill and die and kill and do it over and over and over and over and over again until life has no meaning anymore not like it did in the first place anyway.
This game stimulates you mind a lot more than RPGs I c'mon you have to admit.

But this game is so simple-minded and stupid, it's not even funny.. well.. actually it is, it's very pathethic, Haha. It's even funnier how people give in to this garbage.
The missions are easy, the game is short, and just admit it, this game has NO story.
I give props for the interactivity, but who gives a fuck if there's nothing to build off of?

Then do not play it. The thread wasn't "hey, come bash this game". Get over it, we know you don't like it! :(

So is there a limited eiditon of this game or not? I keep hearing a mention of one being made with like a 7 CD soundtrack included, which I would gladly pay an arm and a leg for. ANy help appreciated.

To my knowledge on the subject, the game has over 7 CDs worth of audio, but there's isn't 7 CDs that come with it. There are that many worth for the soundtrack that you buy seperately. 80 songs, to my knowledge, are in this. 80 songs of 80's songs. ;)
Spike
Gamespot gave the game a 9.6!

There are 7 separate (or all together) CDs containing the full soundtrack to GTA:VC. Here's a quote from Gamespot about it:
[quote]Certainly the biggest event in gaming this week is the release of Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, the follow-up to last year's incredibly successful Grand Theft Auto III that's set in a corrupt '80s-era city reminiscent of Miami, Florida. In addition to the release of the game itself, Rockstar has partnered up with Sony Music Entertainment and Epic Records to produce a seven-CD set of music soundtracks, featuring dozens of tracks that can be heard in the game. Themed after the seven different music stations heard in the game, this CD set should make for a desirable companion piece to the game's inevitable fans.
Each CD prominently displays a comic book-style drawing of the in-game radio station's DJ, along with that DJ's name and his or her radio station's name. The CDs themselves are also printed with the DJs' likenesses, and the liner notes included offer humorous descriptions of each character, along with some of those characters' personal thoughts on the genre of music represented on the disc. Discs contain about an hour of audio each, including full-length, uninterrupted versions of a dozen or so songs, as well as a couple of brief, humorous commentaries from the DJs themselves at the beginning and toward the middle and end. The CDs conclude with some of the tongue-in-cheek fictional radio advertisements heard on each station in the game.
Of further note, each CD in the set can be used as a key disc on the www.vicecityradio.com Web site to reveal a special cheat code for use in the game.
We have scanned images of the fronts and backs of each of the seven CDs. They and their track listings are as follows:
Volume 1 - Lazlow Presents V-ROCK
GTAIII fans will recognize Lazlow as the host of that game's talk radio station. In Vice City, Lazlow is a young and brash, longhaired wannabe rocker hosting the game's rock and metal station. Tracks on Volume 1 are:

Each CD is professionally produced and visually compelling, and the selections of songs on many of the discs represent a veritable who's who of '80s-era pop music. This CD set is therefore notable not just because it offers one of the biggest assortments of licensed music ever selected for a video game, but also because this is the first major mainstream release of a video game sound track in the United States. Each disc contained in the series is available separately for a retail price of $13.98, and the entire seven-CD set is available for a retail price of $49.98.

Now that this thread has lost 98% of its readers, let's reward the other 2% with a commercial!
All I have to say is every game store better cear thier pre-owned racks for GTA: Vice City copies coming in by the hundreds. But hey, that what happens to games that people buy so they can be on the bandwagon of cool people. Oh well best of luck to you all, you can like the games you want, but I'll take good old Contra any day of the week.
P.S. I'm guessing some genius will say something like "and now for a commercial break" or "next caller".

Do I see a certain GTA:3? Hmmm that's odd I don't. You know why? Well to quote the Japanese: "We no-a like-a da crap". Man, but of course Japan, who is the maker of the games we play, don't know anything right. Man what was I thinking. Well, why you Americans play GTA:VC, people in Japan who know good games, will be playing much better.
P.S. Here's the link to the website I got this from:
Magic Box
give it up man, you're an idiot. i don't give a fuck if you dont like the gta games. i do, and i'll play it because i like it, not because i'm gonna jump on the bandwagon.

Did I say I was talking to you? I don't think so, I was talking to the bandwagon people, but you had to take it personal. It looks like everyone just wants to be the victim. "You called me this" or "You called me that". And by the way, I won't give it up, cuz all I'm doing is informing the ignorant public about gaming. So if you don't like it, I'm sorry. I don't remeber forcing you to read my post.
Mindless... utterly mindless...
Take that however you like. Odds are, you'll be right no matter how you choose to interpret it. Oh, and by the way, awards count for shit.
Mindless rejection of something because it's popular is no better than mindless rejection of something because it's not. Either way, you're just following a crowd.
As for me, I'm going to go soak up some 80s music. Are GTA3 and GTAVC the "greatest games ever?" No (the FF games haven't earned that title, either). But I found it enjoyable, and worth playing. It's a fun game, and if I'm not mistaken, that's the whole reason I started gaming 24 years ago.
The trash heap has spoken. Nyaaah.

I don't have mindless rejection because it's popular, but because I've played it. Not for just 5 minutes, but extensivly. True, awards don't count, but they do show what the people's voice was, and in Japan, there was no voice for GTA:3. Not that it's a bad thing, but it does show that in all of GTA's greatness, it must have failed somewhere in Japan.
I also play games for fun, but I've learned not to settle for second best. I learned to find the best out there and play it, becuase life is too short to ply even so-so games. I think everyone is entitled to thier own opinions. All I'm doing is voicing mine.
Was GTA3 even released in Japan? I don't recall. I don't think it was.
Oh, and BTW, the Dreamcast also failed over in Japan. Japan is not the arbiter of what is and isn't a good game.

hmm between the first gta and now there have been 4 final fantasy games, final fantasy tactics, chocoboos dungeon 1 and 2, chocoboo racing, toys, A MOVIE!, and other games i can't think of now.
You still haven't given a good reason why the game is crap.
:D also gta is for ages 18+ (Mature Gamers).Stick with games made for your own age :D

GTA3 sold a few million copies... and every FF game since FF7 has sold well over a million on its own. I fail to see how Final Fantasy is any less mainstream. (Same goes for the MGS series.) This is why Square's focusing on the FF series instead of all the experimentation they did back on the PSX, as it's a way to guarantee that they'll see a decent return on their investment.
Hating GTA because it's popular doesn't make you cool. If you can actually put forth your own opinion, detailing specifically what you don't like about it, without resorting to general insults for its fans or cursing about it, then maybe you'll gain some ground in this discussion. Until then, you're not making yourself look very good.
For the record, I enjoy the FF, MGS and GTA series, and have since each of their first incarnations. Do I regard any of them as the "greatest games ever?" No. Fact is, one game cannot be all things to all people. Let's hear it for diversity.

ill be the second...but i wont be ignorant a diss everyone that plays it...i just never found the game very entertaining..to me it went stale in a few hours.
i actually intended to buy this game because of all the hype then i went broke when i was going to so i ended up renting it first...glad i did because in my eyes this game isint half what it was hyped up to be...course thats just my opinion so many ppl love it. i guess i just have obscure taste...
and no i dont think im cool at all for hating it...i enjoy street fighter EX and tekken! look how uncool i am :)
fun games are fun games..no game makes u cool or hardcore :)
no bashing intended..no offence intended to anyone that plays...just offering my personal opinions of the original gta3

Yeah I guess you're right, I just hate it when every person you see goes up to you and says, "GTA VC is going to be the best damn game ever." And there isn't one person in the world that dislikes it. It gets lame after a while. Whatever, I don't enjoy toilet humor games.
