Isn't it still going on? I'm stoked, but of course the games are all that will really matter. I'm sure the hardware is powerful enough to get the job done. Hell, I'm still happy with how good ps3 games look.
Yep its still going on mate, but i just feel the focus is just on graphics and not on real innovative hardware...
I can see the next gen being very similar to this one. Fairplay to nintendo actually trying something different.
It will also be interesting to see what Valve bring to the table.
Yeah it does seem to be pretty focused on graphics, but I can't say that I dont enjoy good graphics. Their other main focus seems to be on sharing, which I don't care about at all. The day I post a video of my latest ps4 gameplay to facebook/twitter/whatever is the day I jump.
I agree, gameplay is taking a backseat to graphics....As this gen went on and on and on i found myself playing more and more of the old stuff :) As sad as it is i really haven't seen anything or was "hyped" up for current gen games in a looong time.
It's early to say for myself, but right now, I just want to play my neo geo. Maybe if there are more games like Fallout 3.
See, I don't need amazing graphics. Fallout 3 and Vegas were 2 of the best things I played in the past decade. Batman AA and AC as well. Sure, I would like to play another RE or MGS, but I don't want to buy into the new PS4 Ponzi scheme that those Nanking rapists have devised.
Talking about gameplay, remember the difference between mario 1 and mario 2... At least nintendo tried something.
Games these days are impressive to look at, but I just feel under it all there is that real challenge. Hell I completed Halo 4 legendary solo in a day easily!!
Im with you on that!! Ive been more excited getting a new geo game in the mail than 99% of the current gen stuff coming out
And this whole complete multimedia center is taking over to a degree as well. I want a game system that plays games, back in the day things were just so much simpler i guess
I remember at the beginning of the last generation people were all so worried about the same thing, that gameplay would take a backseat to graphics. Happily, there were plenty of great games. I'm sure it will be the same this generation.
Don't get me wrong there were plenty of great games this gen but for the first time to atleast me it just felt different

It was neither a win nor a loss. Sony looks determined to finish first rather than third in the next generation of console wars. But other than the timed exclusive The Witness there wasn't another game in the event that makes me want to run out and throw down a preorder. I like what they're doing, I just don't love it.
Now it's your turn Microsoft.
The 8 gigs of unified DDR5 is a big deal. Microsoft better have at least the same spec to keep up.

I agree. Graphics dont make the game.. Dragon Age Origin and Fallout 3 are two of my favorite games and neither looks amazing.. DAO looks like fucking shit actually. It is really fun to look at some amazing graphics though. The Witcher 2 gives me a fucking hard on every time I.... uh.. pop it in.Quote:

I didn't see anything that interested me. I'm not on any of the social media things so I don't care or want any of that crap. The eye looks cool but I'd never use it. I'm pretty sure I'm not getting any of the new consoles.
Encouraged by the Vita functionality, especially the remote play, the sharing option, the Gaikai cloud and the long list of third party devs.
I have no thoughts no the controller other than 'it's a controller.' I'll wait to actually play a game with it before passing judgment.
In the past, Sony let Sega and Microsoft release products first and then followed them by releasing products they thought would perform better. They were right with Sega, wrong with Microsoft. Time for the rubber match with Nintendo!
Time to find a new hobby...or just keep playing on PC.

I would like for at least 65% of the focus on getting a PS4-Vita connectivity to go instead on making sure the Vita plays Vita games
Figured Watch Dogs was going to be next gen but at this point I'm ok with the "low rez" PS3 version for purchase

But they had to cut animations out and back grounds and stuff to make the games run as smoothly as ps3/360. Its got a super nice graphics card yes. But the cpu is under powered. As for the ps4. I'm looking forward to it. New exclusive titles. Thats the only reason to buy a console. Since pc graphics are always better.
